I'm Marj Kupps, and this podcast explores womanhood, growth, ambition, wellness, and the uncomfortable process of becoming who you're meant to be. Each week, we dive into conversations that go beyond a 60-second reel, from friendships, family, and relationships to success, identity, money, purpose, and the pressure to have it all figured out. Think of this as a cup of tea with a friend and an invitation to question what you've been taught, what you've outgrown, and who you're becoming. Growth isn't always comfortable, and the most important conversations often aren't either.
- 21 - Nobody Has Everything, But Everybody Has Something
In this Sunday chat, we’re talking about the power of gratitude and how changing the way you look at your life can change the way you experience it.
I share how a simple gratitude practice has transformed my perspective, why I was initially sceptical of Oprah’s gratitude journaling ritual, and how I’ve learned to stop rushing through the beautiful moments in my life.
We also explore the relationship between gratitude and ambition, the psychology behind what we choose to focus on, and why you don’t need to have everything figured out to start making something meaningful out of what you already have.
Because perhaps the problem isn’t that you don’t have enough. Perhaps you’ve become so focused on what you’re missing that you’ve forgotten to appreciate what you have.
Nobody has everything, but everybody has something. It’s time to start recognising yours.
In this episode, we’re exploring:
How gratitude can transform your perspective. Why what you focus on influences what you notice. The art of slowing down and savouring life’s good moments. How to be ambitious without constantly feeling like you’re behind. Why you should stop waiting for perfect conditions to start.Learning to appreciate your present while working towards your future.Mon, 02 Nov 2026 - 41min - 20 - I Act Like I'm Rich (But It's Not What You Think)
In this episode, I’m talking about something I’ve been thinking about a lot lately: the power of allowing yourself to experience pieces of your dream life before you’ve fully arrived.
My husband and I live in an area I’ve always dreamed of living in, even though we’re not in our dream home yet. And driving the Jetour Dashing has made the life I’m working towards feel a little more tangible. It’s made me feel closer to the woman I’ve always envisioned becoming.
I’ve come to believe that sometimes, you need to put yourself in environments that remind you of what’s possible. Go to that beautiful hotel in the neighbourhood you dream of living in. Order a coffee if that’s what your budget allows. Experience the atmosphere. Let yourself imagine a different kind of life. You don’t have to afford the entire menu to belong in the room.
And no, I’m not telling you to go into debt, live recklessly, or pretend to have money you don’t have. I’m talking about being intentional about the life you’re building, making the most of what you can afford today, and refusing to believe that your current circumstances are the limit of what your life can become.
Because sometimes, experiencing a small piece of the life you want is what helps you believe that it’s possible for you, too.
In this episode, we talk about:
Why you shouldn’t always wait until you’ve “made it” to enjoy your lifeHow your environment can influence your identity, mindset and aspirationsThe difference between living beyond your means and intentionally expanding your worldWhy experiencing the life you want can make your dreams feel more attainableBecoming your dream self before you have your dream lifeYour dream life doesn’t have to begin the day you finally achieve everything on your vision board. You can start building it, experiencing it and becoming the woman who lives it right now.
Let’s talk in the comments. 🤎

Sun, 25 Oct 2026 - 33min - 19 - Should you follow your passion or choose a career that pays?
We’re often told to pursue what we love, follow our dreams, and trust that everything will work out. But what happens when, years later, you look back and wonder whether following your passion was the right decision?
In this episode, we get honest about the tension between passion, purpose, and financial security. My husband shares his personal experience of pursuing his passion for 10 years and why he now has regrets, prompting a bigger conversation about career choices, money, and the realities of building a life you love.
We discuss whether following your passion is always good advice, whether it’s possible to turn something you love into a sustainable career, and how to balance what fulfils you with what pays the bills.
Because sometimes, choosing a career isn’t just about what you love. It’s also about the life you’re trying to build.
In this conversation:
Passion vs. financial securityMy husband’s 10-year journey and career regretsIs following your passion a privilege? What happens when your passion doesn’t pay?Should you pursue your passion or prioritise a stable income? What we’d tell someone trying to figure out their career pathLet’s talk: Have you ever regretted pursuing something you were passionate about? Fri, 23 Oct 2026 - 36min - 18 - If you want to be successful, LIVE AS IF YOUR PARENTS ARE DEAD
In today’s car pod, I’m talking about people-pleasing, the fear of disappointing your family, and learning to live life on your own terms. We explore the uncomfortable reality that our parents are human beings figuring life out for the first time, too and that loving and respecting the people who raised us doesn’t mean we have to let their expectations dictate our lives.
Because sometimes, growing into yourself means making choices other people don’t understand. And sometimes, you have to be willing to disappoint people to stop disappointing yourself.
Let’s talk about it. ☕

Sun, 18 Oct 2026 - 49min - 17 - Can You Still Have Sleepovers, Single Friends & Opposite-Sex Friends When Married?
In this episode, my husband and I sit down for an honest conversation about friendship, marriage, boundaries, and what happens when two people don’t see eye to eye on what is appropriate in a relationship.
We discuss whether married people should have friends of the opposite sex, whether it’s okay to maintain close friendships with single people when you’re married, and whether you should still be having sleepovers at your friends’ houses after getting married. We also get into what happens when you don’t like your partner’s friends, whether your spouse should have a say in who you’re friends with, and how to balance individuality with commitment.
We don’t agree on everything, and that’s exactly what makes this conversation interesting. 😂
In this episode, we discuss:
What happens when you don’t like your partner’s friendsHaving friends of the opposite sex when you’re marriedWhether married people should have single friendsSleepovers with friends after marriageBoundaries, trust, and respect in relationshipsHow much should marriage change your friendships? Now we want to hear from you: Do you think your partner’s friends can be a red flag? And should your spouse have a say in the friendships you maintain?

In today’s Sunday chat, I’m sharing 4 mindset shifts that are changing the way I approach life, relationships, and building the future I want.
From why I no longer believe every friendship breakup needs to end in a lifelong feud, to learning to see problems differently and accepting that not everyone will like you, these are some of the lessons I’m learning as I grow into the person I want to become.
This is an honest conversation about protecting your peace, letting go of old ways of thinking, and realising that sometimes, the biggest changes start within you.

Sun, 11 Oct 2026 - 47min - 15 - Things we thought we’d have figured out by 27
At 27, we thought certain things would look very different.
We thought we’d be further along in our careers, own property, have children, and be in a completely different place financially.
In this episode, Kudz and I have an honest conversation about the lives we imagined for ourselves, the expectations we put on our twenties, and what it feels like when reality doesn’t quite match the picture in your head.
From careers and money to buying a home and starting a family, we talk about where we are, where we hoped we’d be, and learning to navigate the space in between.
If you’ve ever looked at your life and wondered, “Is this where I’m supposed to be by now?” this conversation is for you.
Welcome to Uncomfortable on Purpose ; conversations about growth, and becoming.
Let’s talk about it: What did you think your life would look like by 27?
Fri, 09 Oct 2026 - 41min - 14 - What It Really Feels Like to Build the Life You Asked For
It’s been a while, friend.
In this episode, I’m catching you up on what’s been happening in my life and behind the scenes of my journey as a creator.
The exciting opportunities, the doubts, the comparison, the vulnerability, and the parts of growth that nobody really talks about.
I’ve been learning that sometimes when you ask for a bigger life, you’re first given the lessons that prepare you to carry it.
So if you’re in a season of becoming too, this one is for you. 🤍
Sun, 04 Oct 2026 - 46min - 13 - 5 Things I’ve Completely Changed My Mind About
Some of the beliefs I held most strongly a few years ago… I don’t believe anymore.
In this episode, I’m sharing five things I’ve completely changed my mind about, from what confidence looks like as a Black woman, to friendships, family relationships, my accounting journey, and the need to be well-liked.
We talk about how my perspective on natural hair has evolved, why I no longer measure my worth by the number of friendships I have, how I’ve learned to approach difficult family relationships with more grace than retaliation, and why I’m finally grateful for the accounting career I once saw as a detour.
I also share one of the biggest lessons I’ve learned as a creator: being authentic and living with integrity doesn’t guarantee that everyone will like you, and that’s okay.
If you’ve ever looked back and realized you’ve outgrown an opinion you once defended, this conversation is for you.
Wed, 29 Jul 2026 - 40min - 12 - Money, Self-Worth & The Fear of Charging More
Why does asking for more money feel so personal?
In this episode, I’m unpacking the internal struggle of charging higher for my work and the money beliefs I didn’t realise I was carrying. From negotiating with brands to questioning my own worth, I’ve started to see that pricing isn’t just a business decision—it’s often a reflection of the stories we believe about ourselves.
We explore where our beliefs about money come from, how family, culture and past experiences shape the way we value ourselves, and why entrepreneurship has a way of exposing every insecurity we thought we’d hidden. This isn’t an episode about getting rich. It’s about learning to separate your worth from your price and giving yourself permission to take up space, ask for what your work deserves, and build a healthier relationship with money.
If you’ve ever apologised for your prices, felt guilty for wanting more, or wondered whether you’re “worth it,” this conversation is for you.
Wed, 15 Jul 2026 - 36min - 11 - What You Didn’t Know About Me | Q&A
This week’s episode is a little different.
Instead of diving into a specific topic, I’m letting you get to know me a little better. I asked my husband to come up with a list of questions, and I answered them without knowing what was coming.
It feels less like an interview and more like sitting down for coffee with a friend.
If you’ve been listening for a while and have wondered who I am outside of the advice, wellness conversations, and self-development, this episode is for you.
I hope you enjoy getting to know me a little better. 🤍
Wed, 01 Jul 2026 - 18min - 10 - We’ve Forgotten How Long Things Take | Trusting the Process When Success Feels Slow
What happens when you’ve done everything “right” but success is taking longer than you expected?
In this episode of Uncomfortable on Purpose, I’m talking about something I’ve been wrestling with lately: delayed gratification, patience, and learning to trust the process when the results aren’t arriving on your timeline.
We live in a world of instant everything—instant communication, instant entertainment, instant answers—so it’s no surprise that many of us expect our biggest goals to happen just as quickly. But what if meaningful things simply take time?
I share personal stories from my own journey as a content creator and entrepreneur, including a viral TikTok experience that taught me a powerful lesson about getting what you want before you’re ready for it. We also explore why comparison distorts our perception of success, why progress is rarely linear, and how to keep going when the evidence that you’re moving forward comes and goes.
If you’ve ever felt behind in life, frustrated by slow progress, or wondered whether your hard work is paying off, this conversation is for you.
In this episode:
• Why success often takes longer than we expect
• The hidden purpose of the process
• What happens when opportunity arrives before you’re ready
• How comparison can distort your timeline
• Why progress isn’t always visible in the moment
• Learning to trust the journey, even when it feels slowRemember: the process isn’t just building the dream—it may be building the dreamer, too.

Wed, 24 Jun 2026 - 32min - 9 - The Problem With “I’ll Be Happy When…”
In this episode, we explore a question that many ambitious people quietly wrestle with: Will anything ever feel like enough?
From career goals and financial milestones to relationships, content creation, and personal growth, it’s easy to believe that happiness is waiting on the other side of the next achievement. But what happens when you finally get the thing you’ve been working towards and discover that the feeling doesn’t last as long as you expected?
Joined by my husband, we unpack the experience of constantly moving the finish line, the unexpected emptiness that can follow success, and the tension between wanting more and appreciating what already exists. We talk about ambition, achievement, fulfillment, gratitude, and what it means to enjoy the journey while still pursuing bigger dreams.
If you’ve ever found yourself thinking, “I’ll be happy when…” this conversation is for you.
Wed, 17 Jun 2026 - 42min - 8 - Why We Love To See People Fall
In this episode, we’re unpacking the internet’s fascination with public mistakes, online backlash, and why it often feels easier to criticize than to extend grace.
From cancel culture and call-out videos to creator burnout and the rise of curated content, we explore how social media has changed the way we share, connect, and show up online.
I also reflect on my own relationship with the internet, how my boundaries have evolved over time, and why so many creators are choosing to share less than they once did.
This is a conversation about judgment, empathy, human nature, and the hidden cost of living your life in public.
So pour yourself a cup of tea and join me for an honest conversation about why the internet feels different now, and what that might reveal about all of us.
Wed, 10 Jun 2026 - 40min - 7 - A Pause Before the Next ChapterWed, 15 Apr 2026 - 03min
- 6 - Submission: Cultural, Biblical… or Misused?
Submission.
A word that makes some women uncomfortable… and some men very comfortable.
In this episode, I unpack a cultural practice that sparked a deeper question in me:
How much of what we call “submission” is really about God, and how much of it is just culture, tradition, or even control?
We’re getting into:
- The uncomfortable tension between cultural expectations and personal conviction
- How submission has been misused—and why that matters
- What the Bible actually says
- Why submission might look very different from what you’ve been told
This is an honest, thought-provoking conversation—not a rulebook.
Wed, 08 Apr 2026 - 23min - 5 - ASK ME ANYTHING, DECK OF CARDS EDITION
In this Ask Me Anything: Deck of Cards Edition, I used random cards as prompts and let the conversation go wherever it wanted. From marriage and PDA to career changes, career pressure, and the fear of disappointing your parents.
It’s honest, a little all over the place, and very real. No script, no plan — just me answering whatever comes up.
If you’ve ever felt stuck, unmotivated, or unsure about where you’re going… this one will feel like a chat with a friend who’s figuring it out too.
Wed, 01 Apr 2026 - 34min - 4 - Girlhood After Marriage: Is Your Husband Your Only Friend?
In this episode I unpack the subtle “promotion” of romantic relationships over all others. Why do we celebrate love… but quietly downgrade friendship?”
I was told growing up that my husband should be my best friend… my only friend. And for a while, I believed that. But I don’t think that advice works for everyone, and I want to talk about why.
And if you’ve ever felt left behind by a married friend… this conversation is for you too.
Wed, 25 Mar 2026 - 18min - 3 - Having Kids: Love, Fear, or Expectation?
Why do we really have children?
In this episode, I unpack the advice many of us grew up hearing; that you should have kids so you won’t be lonely, or that having children will strengthen your marriage.
But are those reasons rooted in love… or fear?
I reflect on a recent conversation with my parents, question traditional beliefs about motherhood, and explore a perspective that stopped me in my tracks:
If a child could choose their parents… would they choose you right now?
This is an uncomfortable, honest conversation about timing, intention, and the kind of life we’re building before bringing someone else into it.Wed, 18 Mar 2026 - 22min - 2 - The Most Controversial Marriage Advice I Got About In-Laws
My grandmother once told me that the day she got married... five of my grandfather's relatives moved into their home. There is so much I want to unpack from her story. Let's dive into Family, marriage expectations, and generational differences.
What would YOU have done had you been in my grandmother's shoes?
Wed, 11 Mar 2026 - 18min - 1 - I Grew Up With Chaperoned Dating
In this episode, I reflect on growing up in a culture where dating without chaperones wasn't an option.
We're talking courtship, structure, boundaries, and how those systems compare to modern dating today.
Was it restorative? Protective? Both?
As dating culture continues to evolve, it's worth asking: what did we gain, and what did we lose?
