Chris kicks us off with a story of clogged drains, to which Ray counters with his worst cabin air filter encounter. Show friend Mike Mooney gets some air time this week talking about the Griffith automobile and Ray warns that one can never take anything for granted when working on an older car. A caller talks about fixing broken parts on the fly, raising some MacGyver stories, and we close with Chris' tale of three questionable recalls.

Ray recounts the Rolls Royce pre-purchase inspection he did this week, then Chris tells a story about how a local tire shop raked him over the coals for a simple service. Using a new USB soldering iron and charging old battery types gets discussed, as well as the Matco tools Ray bought and put right to good use.

The boys propose a thought that everyone should get in the Spring spirit and dust off and complete an old car project. Ray takes it in another direction and suggests that hanging out with good friends is the real gift of Spring, while Chris battles with changing clips that hold parts in place. Weird noises that you can't identify come into play, as does a small spring that has a mind of its own in Ray's garage.

Ray recounts a haunting issue with a Jeep where the radio dies when the lights are turned on. Carl Anthony from Automoblog.net is back and Ray gives him the full-on Grunge talk-up. Chris poses the question asking when you know it's time to keep or sell a collector car. This show covers the relationship between car guys and good NY pizza, MatcoMan Brian talks about the recent tool expo and the new Matco flip-out panel clip tool. Callers respond by talking about their tool buying experiences and the benefits of buying from a local tool truck vendor. Ray relates how he would have recently bought a specific tool from the 1st truck that would have stopped by the shop.

This week we reported on a resolution from the contentious Kawasaki sold at a Hagerty auction, then Ray brought up the correct interpretation of local highway bridge height markings. Holley carburetor and Sniper EFI cold start protocol's were discussed, then chrome from spray cans and factory coatings got tossed around.

It was a trivia filled hour when the boys talked about the iconic 60's show car "The Uncertain-T" and a local custom Corvette that surfaced recently. Ray is jazzed over an Olds 442 that's coming into the restoration shop for him to work on, and a friend's 63 Lincoln is making forward progress in its re-do too.

This week we also covered the auction purchase of a C2 Corvette a friend made, and all of the specifics associated with a purchase of that nature.

Chris had to be brought up on the phone line so there were no callers, but we still talked about our use of classic cars as junk haulers, the classic MMR "dirty T-shirt" contest, hydro locked engines and Motor diagnostic manuals. Ray's favorite, ABS brake bleeding techniques were also covered in this week's show.

It's another fun filled show where the boys talk about the benefits of having a car purchase inspected by a qualified professional, with Chris providing his thoughts about selling a car privately. The sunroof water leak on Ray's car gets diagnosed in a most simple and ingenious way, then he shows off a paint thickness gauge that wows the crowd. Auto parts prices in general are discussed, which leads the boys to share their small parts storage strategies. The mystery behind a drawer of razor blades with an interesting graphic is confirmed by a caller, and another caller calls to report some shoddy shop practices during a recent service.

The boys talk about a recent model car show and the skills needed to compete with the masters of today, as compared to their meager offerings. Ray reports having a "ghost in the machine" with his GTO power trunk opener, and Chris talks up the benefits of changing ignition coils as a maintenance procedure. Ray works on a Barris Bugazzi, and a caller updates us on his 67 Camaro 4 speed trans issues. The Corvette Society meeting and the Pacers race team are upcoming show guests.

The choice to buy a car that's out of state vs shopping locally gets thrown around until a caller brings up the topic of EFI vs carburetion, followed by talk about the current GM strikes & EV possibilities.

On this show the boys ponder if the price of classic cars isdropping, and how to best transport the one you do buy. A callers question about the ball joint fitment on his QA1 control arms, ignition coil replacement intervals, Chris' flaky voltage regulator, and carbs vs EFI are all covered.

Chris goes to the extreme to stop a garage roof leak while Ray battles another family car with a P0300 code that led to bad coils & spark plugs. A second family car is down with a bad catalytic converter, leaving Ray in the role of chauffer until they're fixed. Chrome plating procedures are discussed, as well as a rebirth of the Soapbox Derby racing here on Long Island.

Chris relays a story about a rental company "mystery car" offer, and itwinds up he made out a lot better than a caller did. Listeners report in from the Tobay Beach car show, then Ray reports on people getting ticketed for the new NY inspection stickers. MatcoMan Brian fills in for Chris this week and interviews Kenny Wessel with Ray. Topics include state inspection rules, Brian's money collection at Harbor Freight Tools, and tool & scanner tech. With luck (all bad) that could only befall the MotorMouth's, this weeks show is shorter due to an unforeseen power issue in the studio. Be that as it may, guests Elliott Weiner from the L.I. With Chris in the studio for a visit, the boys talk about how to tunea Sniper fuel injection system & Ray relates how he recently swapped a set of snow tires for a laptop to tune his car. How to sell a car with known engine damage, and the joy of mounting a child seat in a modern car follows. YouTube phenom "Wrenching with Kenny" calls to explain how a good mechanic has piles of used parts at his disposal when working on and repairing cars these days.

This week Chris recounts the results of a compression test that left him wondering if there's more to worry about, but found a diversion in swapping out thecarpet in his Chrysler C-body. Ray was affected by the "Switzer-ism" whereby a lost part cannot be found when looking for it, it'll be found when looking for something else.That's the case of the missing Pontiac valley pan, followed by door hinge alignment woes.

Ray recounts the successful wiper motor replacement on a friend's1972 Corvette, then Chris reveals the new caller text service used on the show. Car interiors made from mushrooms gets some talk time, as does Chris' repair technique on a car's grille. Extended oil change intervals kicks this show off, and if you're familiar with our train of thought you'll know that the spare tire cover rant that followed was totally normal. Ray's chore of moving the shop's NASCAR proved to be interesting to say the least, and Chris learned that his Tracker transmission may need help. This week we find Chris doing battle with car batteries, and he finally finds one that gets his Explorer to pass a state inspection. Chalk one up in the win column when the Chinese shift solenoids Chris bought for his Tracker have (so far) solved his 1-2 shift problem. Louis Lee from the Thursday night Playing N Traffic show calls in to give his report from the SEMA show in Las Vegas. Last year was a bust but this event showed the industry off in fine fashion. Jeepin Al called in his report from Ocala FL. from the Don Garlits museum's 35th anniversary event. A caller's EVAP code, Chris' Tracker shift solenoids and his sticky Chrysler voltage regulator are also topics this week.

New tools are always falling into our orbit, and this week we had Clint Rhodes from HandeeClamp.com on the show to talk about his innovative holding tool. We cap it off with another home repair story where the Inductor Tool was used.

Ray screeches in from a local cars & coffee event and immediately talks about how closet listeners can put a host to the test, and vise versa. Replacing a lift cylinder on a flatbed truck at the shop had us calling in "special forces" to cut it free with the venerable "flame-tip wrench". Hydraulic cylinder maladies must be contagious, because a caller relates a story about a home lift with a leaky cylinder to the boys. Chris segues into how his Chinese fuel injectors also leaked, leading him to replace them with quality Bosch products. EV batteries and charge parameters gets a caller all charged up to end the show.

Chris laments over his check engine lights while Ray has a victory with a weird headlight failure in his Fiat that came down to a faulty connection (check our social media pages for the pictures). Carl Anthony from Automoblog.net comes on and talks about the new E-Charger & Challenger from Chrysler as well as the future of E-vehicles. Callers add to the conversation and cite problems from power grid strength to the cost of electricity as factors to worry about.

In radio timing is everything, and although we may not hit every mark perfectly, today Chris showed off his chops by talking about the timing marks on his Chrysler engine and how he couldn't see them. Ray told a story about a particularly difficult serpentine belt replacement in a family car, and was also plagued by a seat belt installation in a '66 Mustang. The same Mustang reminded us that bad grounds and wiring are everywhere in older cars, and Chris took us home with a story about polishing his cars headlight lenses.

This week we fondly remember our good friend and show contributor Chassis John Guerriero. John passed way too soon and we share some audio clips from past shows in his memory. Chris' Chrysler fuel injector fiasco comes to a happy ending, as does the "on the fly" timing adjustments he made to his Tracker. The trouble isn't over for him yet though, as he still has a P0507 idle circuit code to rectify. The show wraps with a classic show ending quote from John that (as always) entails food.

Chris finds out that Police spec vehicles use different fuel injector seals than the civilian cars get, so his project is stalled. Ironically we get a call about fuel injector cleaning, with a great tip about a unit made for a small shop or the home garage. Internet influencer Bob4GTO calls in to talk about his cars, the various Pontiac shows he attends, and his photography background.

Chris shares his lack of love for the Holley carburetor on his Chrysler due to its loading up and poor idle quality, which leads to a primer on the 4160 model carb and a lesson on how its choke system functions. Ray details some of the pitfalls associated with buying a car sight unseen from an online site, using firsthand experience as his guide. Chris details a beautiful 64 Galaxie barn find and the boys wind up talking about finding body damage in some hidden places on a car.

The boys are jumping over any and all obstacles this week to bring you an action packed show featuring the lead mechanic who became a stunt driver from the Dukes of Hazzard TV show Mr. Tom Sarmento. Tom's N.E. rep Billy W. joins Ray in the studio to talk about his TV correct General Lee, and Tom springs a big surprise on Chris with a bit of MotorMouth trivia. Tom talks about his upcoming book "The Man Behind the General" which gets us all revved up to read about the exploits and history surrounding the man and this iconic show.

Long-time show friend Steve Linden sits in to discuss changes in car collecting, and his opinion shift on Resto-Mod cars. A listener's email conveys the perils of using old tires on your car with explosive results, and driving older cars as a choice gets kicked around by the panel. The position that older station wagons are cooler than ever is raised with some interesting examples being cited. Sticking with the minutia of our hobby, the guys talk about how chrome and stainless trim can make of break an older cars restoration.

This week the boys start off by discussing the differences in the H and X pipe configurations used in Muscle Car exhaust systems which leads into "Day 2" and resto mod car build trends. Chris professes his love for driving his new Tracker and Ray warns him about taking it into NY due to the new 24/7 speed and red light camera roll-out campaign. Talk quickly turns to the California Low Rider culture that surprisingly the boys both like! Our favorite tool-man Brian calls in to talk about working with the tools he usually sells for a living.

What do you do when your intended guest doesn't show up? You talk about the crap you did during the week, that's what! The boys cover the failing fuel injector in Chris' Explorer, the ripped out shock in Ray's Fiat, and what their favored parts changing strategies are. They move on to car cleaning tips from a pro, and talk to a friend who's at a car show who had an interesting break down in his dune buggy recently.

The boys have special guest Mike Manning from Celebrity Chase Collision and the Autoseum in the studio this week. Ray kicks it off by talking about oddities seen at the Bellmore train station Friday night cruise, and Mike reveals his latest old car of choice to drive around in. Hint- Ray had his hands on this car and talked about it on a previous show. A caller brings up the subject of mobile techs vs dealership computer module reprogramming, which leads us into the parts shortage problem we're all having. We cap it all off by comparing body shops of old vs new ones.

This show finds Ray asking if people have experienced problems when buying car parts online like he has, then he goads Chris about buying a 1960 Ford that's sitting in a junkyard a listener told them about. A caller talks about EVAP codes and asks if the proposed E15 gasoline is harmful to our cars, which brings up the topic of the one barrel Ford carburetor Ray has been charged with rebuilding. The age old question of the best way to sell off your old car parts is broached, then Chris drops his recent Chevy tracker purchase on us all which opens up a discussion about economy cars.

Ray explains how doing simple maintenance can lead to seeing the dreaded "check engine" light. Carl Anthony from Automoblog.net joins Ray & Chris to talk about extended warranties, along with current trends in the automotive world. Carl then talks about his new Twitter "Summer Breeze" video series premiering this month. To cap off the hour Chris asks which car, past or present, the guys would like to own for economy purposes.

The trio covers subjects ranging from classic motorcycles to slant six engines, to the future of our financial system. This is a show not to be missed.

This week, the boys have Bob Jones from the L.I. & NYC Oldsmobile car club in the studio to recap this year's historic car show event. Talk turns to rare and oddball Oldsmobile's, insurance regulations for certain cars & motorcycles, as well as car show planning and strategies. Ray plays a clip of the 1951 song "Rocket 88" as performed by Jackie Brenston & his Delta Cats, and the gang goes on to cover a modern engine swap into a 1956 Olds as relayed by a caller. Can you say "project car"?

Ray & Chris dive right into the nagging topics of lawnmower repair and maintenance then ask a prolific question; "Is the MotorMouth Radio jinx contagious?" That leads to talk of bringing car parts into the house and cleaning them in a kitchen dishwasher, and a list of automotive fluids that have stained our family lawns when we were growing up. You don't get stuff like this on NPR my friend, not by a long shot!
