- 475 - Nancy Glover-Warren: Aloha from Conway
In the spring of 2023, Nancy Glover-Warren, a 67-year-old Realtor in Conway, Arkansas, stopped answering calls. Her family started getting texts from her phone saying she had moved to Hawaii, and a Facebook post put her on a beach in Maui. Her son, Raymond Martin Jr., told everyone she was fine and would be back in January.
When her birthday passed in June without a word from her, the family asked police to check on her. In July 2023, Conway police searched the house and found Nancy's body in a freezer in the garage. Police believe she had died months earlier, in April, and that Raymond had been using her bank cards and accounts the whole time.
Ashley and Ricky go through the case from the April disturbance call caught on police bodycam to the texts from "Hawaii," Raymond's confession, and his September 2024 guilty plea to first-degree murder in Faulkner County, Arkansas.

Sat, 24 Oct 2026 - 59min - 473 - Christa Pike: The Woman Who Survived Her Own Execution
On September 30th, 2026, Tennessee gave Christa Pike two full doses of pentobarbital. She lived. Thirty-one years earlier, Christa was an 18-year-old student at a Job Corps center in Knoxville. In January 1995, she and two others led 19-year-old Colleen Slemmer to an abandoned steam plant and killed her. Christa was sentenced to death at 20, making her one of the youngest women sentenced to death in modern U.S. history. Ashley and Ricky walk through the whole case: Christa’s childhood, the murder, the trial, three decades of appeals, and an escape plot involving a prison guard. They cover what her lawyers warned the state about months before the execution, what witnesses saw and heard inside the chamber that night, and the 911 call that came after. Learn about Willie Francis, Romell Broom, and Kenneth Smith, who survived execution attempts before her, and ask what a state is supposed to do when an execution doesn’t work. Sat, 17 Oct 2026 - 1h 31min - 472 - Smoke and Mirrors – Inside McKamey Manor (Halloween Special)
As Halloween approaches and the leaves change, we're revisiting one of the most controversial and notorious haunted attractions out there: McKamey Manor. Known as the most extreme haunted house experience, McKamey Manor has been pushing the boundaries of fear since 2001. It started as a backyard haunt in a quiet San Diego neighborhood, with the classic jump scares and eerie sounds we all expect. Over time, it transformed into something much darker: a psychological endurance test designed to push people to their limits, both mentally and physically. Reports describe participants enduring grueling challenges and leaving with bloody faces, broken bones, and swollen lips, not to mention the lasting psychological effects. What began as a spooky attraction became an intense and controversial experience that sparked debate over the limits of horror and personal endurance. Join us as we go inside McKamey Manor to see what lies beyond the fear. This episode includes allegations made by former participants and people close to Russ McKamey. He has never been criminally charged over anything that happened at the Manor, and the 2024 charges discussed in this episode were dismissed. Fri, 9 Oct 2026 - 1h 25min - 471 - Nathaniel White: 6 Women, a False Confession, and a Mother's Hunt
In the early 1990s, the transitioning industrial town of Middletown, New York, became the hunting ground for a ruthless killer. It started with a horrific discovery along abandoned railroad tracks and quickly escalated into a string of brutal murders that paralyzed the Hudson Valley. In this solo episode, Ashley walks us through the devastating timeline of Nathaniel White. From a bizarre false confession that derailed the entire investigation to the chilling RoboCop 2 connection and finally to the incredibly brave mother and sister who refused to accept the police's "runaway" theory and decided to hunt down the killer themselves. Today, we honor and remember the lives of Juliana Frank, Laurette Huggins, Adriane Hunter, Angelina Hopkins, Brenda Whiteside, and 14-year-old Christine Klebbe. ⚠️️ Listener Discretion Advised: This episode contains highly graphic descriptions of violence and sexual assault that may be uncomfortable for some listeners. Sat, 3 Oct 2026 - 35min - 470 - The Olney House of Horrors: Missing Women of Kensington (The Raymond and Eugene Horsch Investigation)
This week on Crime Salad, Ashley takes the mic solo to break down what authorities are calling one of the most disturbing cases in Philadelphia history. What started as a routine traffic stop involving 44-year-old Eugene Horsch near Independence Mall in June 2026 quickly unraveled a decade-long nightmare centered around a fortified rowhouse at 417 West Chew Avenue in the Olney neighborhood. Inside the home, investigators uncovered an arsenal of weapons, fake federal badges, a toxic chemical lab wired into the city sewer, five urns containing human remains, and a massive digital archive of 600,000 images and 70,000 videos; OVER ONE MILLION PIECES OF DIGITAL EVIDENCE! The footage being reviewed revealed a horrifying reality: Eugene’s late father, Raymond "R.C." Horsch, spent years luring vulnerable women from Kensington into the home, documenting his violent crimes and hiding them in plain sight under the guise of underground art and films like Deleted Scenes: A Serial Killer's Video Journal. As the FBI and Philadelphia Police Department painstakingly decode the hard drives, 58 women have been identified on tape, and authorities have officially linked seven missing women to the property. We cover everything we know so far, detailing Raymond's stolen chemist identity, his chilling 2013 interview on The Rialto Report, the hidden vault in Chalfont, Pennsylvania, and the devastating disappearances of Gabrielle Amarando, Maribel Fresses, Nicole Fusaro, Amy McHale, and Blair Tonzelli. Fri, 25 Sep 2026 - 41min - 469 - Connecting the Dots: The Disappearance of Morgan Nick
On the evening of June 9, 1995, a little league baseball game in Alma, Arkansas, provided the perfect cover for a predator. In the short time it took to catch fireflies with friends, six-year-old Morgan Nick vanished from the parking lot. What followed was a 29-year nightmare for her family, decades of missed clues, and a relentless hunt for justice that finally resulted in a massive forensic DNA breakthrough in 2024. In this episode, we explore the timeline of Morgan's disappearance and the dangerous predators operating during the 1990s. We discuss Billy Jack Lincks’ attempted kidnapping of an 11-year-old girl just miles away, the abduction of 9-year-old Amber Hagerman in Texas, and the terrifying reign of the "River Valley Killer," Charles Ray Vines, who was linked to at least two murders: Juanita Wofford and Ruth Pearl Henderson, and, according to later DNA testing results, 19-year-old Melissa Witt. We also honor the incredible advocacy of 6-year-old Morgan Nick’s mother, Colleen Nick. Refusing to let her daughter’s case fade, Colleen turned her unimaginable grief into action. We cover how her relentless push for systemic change helped establish the Morgan Nick AMBER Alert in Arkansas, and we break down how rapid-response safety networks like CART (Child Abduction Response Team) and CARD (Child Abduction Rapid Deployment) operate today. In November 2023, the tight-knit community of Lacey, Washington, was rocked when a beloved local chiropractor, Dr. Karen Koep, mysteriously failed to show up for work. Ryan Borgwardt, a local cabinet maker living in Wisconsin with his wife and three kids, chooses to stage an accidental death like it’s a movie set and flee the country. His travels take him by child-sized inflatable raft, to a hidden e-bike, to a Greyhound bus, and finally onto an international flight to meet a distant connection he fell for online. Will his grand illusion work, or will his family be left absolutely devastated and heartbroken to discover he’s actually not at the bottom of Green Lake but has been planning a cowardly escape route right under their noses? Debt. Lust. Greed. In this bizarre true crime investigation, we dive deep into the chilling timeline of the Green Lake missing kayaker. When an empty kayak and a floating life jacket trigger a massive 58-day underwater sonar search by first responders and Bruce's Legacy, a grieving community believes the worst. But a cracked laptop, a secret second passport, a $375,000 life insurance policy, and a staggering $200,000 in hidden marital debt soon reveal a mind-blowing twist. Need Help? You are not alone. This is more than a true crime story about a botched police investigation. It is a story about a family's relentless pursuit of the truth. We discuss how Joanna's brother, Joe Hunter, and her mother, Patricia, refused to accept the official police narrative. Their fierce advocacy ultimately led to the passage of Joanna's Law (Senate Bill 989) in California, which fundamentally changes how law enforcement must investigate the suspicious deaths of domestic violence victims. Need help? National Domestic Violence Hotline: 1-800-799-7233, text START to 88788, or visit thehotline.org. Available 24/7, free and confidential. On April 27, 2024, 30-year-old Mica Francis Miller was found dead at Lumber River State Park in Robeson County, North Carolina. Two days earlier, she had served her husband, Myrtle Beach pastor John Paul Miller of Solid Rock at Market Common, with divorce papers. The medical examiner ruled her death a suicide. Her family has never disputed that ruling. What they have disputed, from the day she died, is what was done to her in the 528 days before she walked into that park. In this episode of Crime Salad, Ashley and Ricky trace the Mica Miller case from her childhood in Wichita, Kansas, through her marriage at Solid Rock Church in Myrtle Beach, the involuntary psychiatric commitment she said her husband fraudulently initiated, the tire deflation devices, the GPS trackers, the nude photo posted online without her consent, and the police reports that piled up in the months before her death. We walk through the December 2025 federal indictment charging John Paul Miller with cyberstalking and making false statements to investigators, the push for South Carolina's coercive control bill known as Mica's Law (Senate Bill 702), and the suspicious death of Johnnie Jacobs, the fisherman who heard her last cry. This is a case about coercive control, a pastor's wife, and a system that called every cry for help a civil matter until a federal grand jury caught up to what Mica had been telling police all along. Head to https://www.tryfum.com/SALAD to get your free gift with purchase, and start The Good Habit today! ⚠️ Listener Discretion is Advised: The following episode contains intense and explicit descriptions of domestic violence, suicide, and a highly traumatic death involving fire. The information presented is based on publicly available records, family statements, and alleged accounts. This podcast is for informational purposes only. We are not law enforcement, legal professionals, or medical experts, and we are not accusing anyone of any crimes. On February 8, 2018, in the freezing cold of Plymouth, Minnesota, 24-year-old David Elmquist was burning alive inside his apartment. His death was ruled a suicide before he was even officially pronounced dead. But for the last six years, his family has fought tirelessly to prove that the official story doesn't add up. With reports of perfectly unburned wrists on a body covered in severe burns, a pristine knife found in a soot-filled room, shifting timelines, and a tragic 38-minute standoff where police waited outside the burning apartment, the physical evidence points to something much darker. Furthermore, just hours before his death, David confided in his parents that he was planning to leave his wife, warning them that if he told her, "she'd go ballistic." In this episode, we unpack the glaring inconsistencies, the alleged forensic bias, the mental health stigma that clouded the investigation, and a father’s relentless fight for justice. Sun, 19 Apr 2026 - 1h 08min - 445 - What Happened to Anna Kepner on the Carnival Horizon?
In November 2025, 18-year-old Anna Kepner boarded the Carnival Horizon cruise ship with her family for a six-night Caribbean vacation. On the final sea day, she was found dead, hidden under her bed inside her own cabin. Surveillance footage reportedly showed only one person entering and leaving the stateroom during that window: her 16-year-old stepbrother. The FBI took over the investigation, and federal homicide charges were eventually filed against the minor suspect. But as the legal process unfolded, court filings, leaked messages, and accusations from family members revealed a much more complicated picture of what was happening inside that household long before anyone boarded that ship. Fri, 3 Apr 2026 - 27min - 443 - The Disappearance of Celeste Doghmi: Missing for 2 Years in Auburn, Maine
In the summer of 2021, in the quiet river city of Auburn, Maine, 27-year-old Celeste Doghmi was at a turning point. After years of struggle and addiction, Celeste had completely turned her life around. She was a devoted new mother, had purchased her first-semester nursing textbooks, and was sharing her pride and love for her infant son on social media every day. But following a harrowing final video call with a close friend, one that captured a violent domestic dispute, Celeste's digital and physical footprint vanished. In this episode of Crime Salad, Ashley and Ricky dive into one of the most unsettling missing persons cases in recent Maine history. We explore the legal reality of being classified as a "voluntary missing adult," the dark mechanics of coercive control and isolation, and the systemic failures that allowed a young mother to go unreported for nearly two years before authorities were even alerted. Was it a voluntary exit, or was the home life described by investigators as a "war zone" a precursor to something far more sinister? We examine her partner's criminal history, the ongoing investigation by the Maine State Police Major Crimes Unit, and the tireless fight by Celeste's mother, Stephanie, to find justice for her daughter and her grandson. Head to https://www.tryfum.com/SALAD to get your free gift with purchase, and start The Good Habit today! This episode contains content related to domestic violence, child neglect, and homicide. Listener discretion is advised. If you or someone you know is experiencing domestic abuse, help is available around the clock through the National Domestic Violence Hotline at 1-800-799-7233 or by texting START to 88788. You are not alone. On the night of January 6th, 1981, Lonene Rogers finished her work shift, picked up her two young children from the babysitter, and came home to an argument with her estranged husband. By morning, she was gone. No footprints in the snow. No activity on her Social Security number. Her hearing aids, glasses, purse, and car were all still there. Lonene was a profoundly deaf woman from northwestern Pennsylvania who refused to let her disability define her. She was strong-willed and warm, a devoted mother, and by early 1981 she was finally ready to leave a troubled marriage and build a new life. Instead, she vanished in the middle of a blizzard and was never seen again. For 44 years, her disappearance went unsolved. Her parents died without answers. Her children grew up without her. And her husband, Clinton "Bud" Rogers, maintained the same story: he woke up and she was simply gone. In this episode, we trace Lonene's life from her childhood in Youngstown, Ohio, through the marriage that her own family saw warning signs in from the start to the night she disappeared and the search that turned up nothing. We also follow her daughter Alison, who spent decades trying to distance herself from the tragedy before deciding, in 2021, to dedicate herself to finding the truth. Alison's fight took her through court battles, advocacy for a proposed new law called Lonnie's Law, and years of pressure on investigators and the public alike. In November 2025, that fight finally produced a result. After more than four decades of silence, Bud Rogers confessed. This is Lonene's story, and it is also the story of a daughter who refused to let her mother be forgotten. Content warning: This episode contains descriptions of domestic violence, child neglect, and a murder confession. If you are in the northwestern Pennsylvania area, Lonene's family invites you to join a peaceful gathering outside the Crawford County Courthouse at 903 Diamond Park Square in Meadville, PA on Monday, March 30, 2026, from 9 to 11 am. A hearing in her case will be taking place inside the courthouse that morning, and the community is gathering outside in her memory and in solidarity with victims of domestic violence and the missing and murdered. Ryder was a medically fragile child living with Sanfilippo Syndrome Type IIIB, a rare and terminal neurological disease that required constant specialized care. For years, his survival depended on strict medical routines, equipment management, and a caregiver trained to respond to emergencies. Then a custody battle moved his case from hospital rooms into courtrooms, where legal procedure began to outweigh medical warnings. In this episode, we examine the timeline of court decisions, ignored medical directives, and the devastating consequences that followed. This is not a mystery of who did it. It is a case that raises difficult questions about how family courts handle medically fragile children, what happens when expert medical advice is sidelined, and whether systems meant to protect can sometimes fail the very people they are designed to serve. What happened next raised serious questions about informant safety, police procedures, and accountability when undercover operations go wrong. Crime Salad steps into Weird History, traveling back to the early 1900s, when a glowing new element promised progress, beauty, and modern life. In this episode of Weird History by Crime Salad, we explore the rise of radium mania, from the young women who became known as the Radium Girls, to the powerful corporations that insisted radium was safe while workers grew sick and died. We touch on crumbling jaws, altered death certificates, and why early causes of death were quietly labeled as syphilis instead of radium poisoning. Names like Grace Fryer and Mollie Maggia emerge as whispers of a much larger truth. But the danger was not limited to factories. While workers were suffering, wealthy Americans were drinking radium by choice. Products like Radithor promised vitality and youth, until cases like Eben Byers forced the country to pay attention. From glowing watches and military dials made with Undark, to radium water crocks, cosmetics, alarm clocks, toys, and other everyday items, radioactive products found their way into homes across America. This episode looks at what happens when science, profit, and blind trust collide, and how the voices of the Radium Girls ultimately changed workplace safety and radiation laws forever. Twenty-year-old Kaylene Marie Oehling disappeared from Etna, Pennsylvania, on January 10, 2020. What followed were years of confusion, frustration, and heartbreaking silence. At the center of this story is her father, Jason Oehling, whose relentless determination to find answers has never faded. For more than three years, Jason pushed for movement in a case that had stalled almost from the beginning. Then, in March 2023, Kaylene’s remains were unexpectedly discovered in a wooded area miles from where she was last seen. Much of what we share in this episode does not come from detailed police reports or official statements. Instead, it comes from Jason himself, someone who has been outspoken across social media, news interviews, and podcast appearances as he fights for clarity in his daughter’s case. We also spoke directly with Jason to confirm the details discussed in this episode. This is one of those cases where a family carries the weight of telling the story. Public information is limited. The timeline is fragmented. Investigators have not identified a cause or manner of death, and no one has ever been charged. Still, Jason continues to push forward, driven by love and the belief that the truth is still out there. In this episode, we walk through the known timeline of Kaylene’s disappearance, the recovery of her remains, the years of advocacy by her family, and the urgent need for answers. For years, rumors circulated about communes, drugs, and the controlling man she had last been seen with. Her family searched, asked questions, and followed every lead, but Terry’s trail went cold. In August of 1996, 11-year-old Trudy Appleby vanished from her neighborhood in Moline, Illinois, leaving behind one of the most haunting mysteries in the Quad Cities. There was no sign of a struggle, no clear witnesses, and no immediate answers. For nearly three decades, her case remained unsolved. But behind the headlines, Trudy’s father never stopped fighting. From the very beginning, he insisted he knew who was responsible. While police chased false leads and dead ends, he pointed to the same small circle of men—names he repeated year after year, long before investigators finally confirmed them as persons of interest. In August 2025, almost exactly 29 years after Trudy disappeared, an arrest was finally made. The breakthrough came too late for her father, who passed away without seeing justice—but it proved he had been right all along. This is the story of Trudy Appleby: a child gone without a trace, a family’s relentless search for truth, and the decades-long fight to hold those responsible accountable in the Quad Cities’ most infamous missing child case. Most commonly known as Heather Turner—was found unresponsive on the bathroom floor of the home she shared with her husband. The shower was still running, and she had a gunshot wound to the head. Heather's death happened at a time when several things in their lives were raising red flags. Allegedly, Heather was planning to leave the relationship with Andy the very next day. But here we are, nearly a decade later, and her case remains in limbo—officially labeled as "undetermined." In 2019, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation claimed to have handed over their findings to the District Attorney. But the DA’s office says they never received them. Meanwhile, local police say their hands are tied, and Heather’s family continues to be left in the dark. Adding to the unease are chilling reported threats like, “If I could do this to Heather, what makes you think I couldn’t do this to you?” —allegedly said by Andy to his girlfriend, who came into the picture after Heather's death. Join us as we break down the red tape and take a closer look at a case that seems deliberately stalled—in a community where some believe turning up the silence on her case will not do any good. Fri, 30 May 2025 - 16min - 397 - Side Salad: 18-year-old escaped: The Gloucester Township Horror Story
On May 8, 2025, a teenage girl arrived at a Wawa convenience store in Gloucester Township, New Jersey. Her shaved head and scarred-up wrists clearly told a story that something was wrong. She wasn’t there to grab a snack or fill up a gas tank—her neighbor had driven her there to meet authorities. She was in desperation to escape a nightmare that, according to investigators, had lasted nearly seven long years. But in the moment she was hesitant to tell them everything. Her story would later reveal years of abuse and imprisonment—suffering inflicted by the very people who were supposed to love and protect her. Somehow, it all went unnoticed, hidden behind closed doors with no contact with the outside world. What makes this case even more disturbing is how it exposes the glaring gaps in how we monitor the safety and well-being of homeschooled children in America. Listener discretion is strongly advised. Mon, 5 May 2025 - 36min - 392 - Left in the Mix: Journey’s Fight
Born on September 7, 2019, Journey—referred to as J.G. in legal documents—had a heartbreaking start to life in Tulare County, California. It didn’t take long for Tulare County Child Welfare Services (CWS) to begin receiving multiple reports concerning Journey’s safety and well-being. In the year leading up to Journey’s birth, his father became consumed by conspiracy theories and developed a dangerous plan to raise an entirely plant-based baby. Journey’s parents took their beliefs to an extreme, feeding their newborn a diet of blended bananas, dates, and honey—ignoring his basic nutritional needs for breast milk or infant formula. Despite repeated calls from Journey’s grandmother to Child Protective Services (CPS), no effective action was taken until it was tragically too late. Miraculously, Journey survived the severe neglect and abuse, but he now faces lifelong challenges as a result of the trauma he endured. Thanks to our sponsors! Then, a damning video surfaced: Jorge, locked inside the suitcase, desperately gasping, “I can’t breathe,” and pleading for his life while Sarah mocked him. That video turned the case upside down, transforming a supposed accident into something far more sinister. Sarah Boone was arrested and charged with second-degree murder, her chilling actions leading to a trial that left everyone questioning the dark side of human relationships.
