Ghazal Guftagu

My take on one of the most beautiful nazms of Faiz's life: Mujhse Pehli Si Mohabbat! Medium - English and Urdu

A plead to escape!

A poem which spells rebel!

A poem which descibes separation and remembrance, Insha pens down how his beloved owes to him all the fame she has received by his words.

This poem was written for the marginalised transgender section of India and the stereotypes which surround them.

A nazm which is caught between the two sides of love, one which frees and the other, which grounds. The struggle to pick a side between commitment and freedom in love is put through before the listener's eyes, but Faraz makes sure you aren't able to pick one and disregard the other! :)

Salim Saleem has emerged as a major poet from amongst the young generation. In his poetry is found a fresh perspective to witness the existence of self and its surroundings.

"When at night a ray of light, comes and quietly sleeps besides me, I feel like it is you." This poem recites longing for a beloved.

Afraid of Life, are you? You too are life, We are too. This poem builds on the theme of escapism in a common man's life and instills a hope for a better future next to the incoming destruction.

This one is a very understated yet lilting romance in the words of the legendary Faraz who sketches out the ethereal beauty of the feminine in this beautiful and enchanting piece.

In Dastoor, which means the system or the structure, Jalib is rejecting that country’s constitution. Such poetries of resistance become popular in times of the rise of fascism, as it happened in Pakistan, Germany, Latin America, and, now in India. A similar kind of oppression has been unleashed in India. Much like Jalib, the youth and the common people here are fighting for the constitution. It will not let the government violate it. In Dastoor’s words and imageries, they find apt expressions for their angst.

Recited at the dawn of independence, this poem nevertheless finds it's way during these contemporary times. A nazm immortal, a poet idyllic! On your way!

This poem is dedicated to all those forgotten ignored everyday people – their grief , their unheard, unacknowledged pain – the collective pain of the people – who were beaten, broken, crushed, killed under the boots of the powerful and power hungry of the society.

A tender poem originally written by one of my favorite poets - Rakesh Tiwari. This one is about dreams, and the after story of struggles and dissapointments. This one's about acceptance and moving on. कि जिनके सपने टूटे हैं, ये उनके लिए है।
