  • 229 - KDMEO Episode 219 - Happy 10th Anniversary!

    IT'S BEEN A PLEASURE.

2:13 - New Patreon donors and Listener E-mails!

6:45 - Squid Game 3 spoilers! Not that you should care.

10:58 - Linda watched "The Murky Stream" (탁류) starring Shin YeEun and Rowoon.

30:08 - Judy and Linda are waiting for "Maybe Happy Ending" musical to come to Toronto!

36:30 - Judy watched "The King's Warden" starring Park JiHoon and Yoo HaeJin. It's available to stream now, so please check it out!

45:19 - Judy watched a few episodes of "The Legend of the Kitchen Soldier" (취사병 전설이 되다), starring Park JiHoon. It's based on a webtoon, so some goofiness is to be expected, but so much foodgasmic facial expressions.

49:09 - Linda watched "A Hundred Memories", starring Shin YeEun and Kim DaMi. She enjoyed it until the sudden beauty pageant and murder plot?

51:23 - Judy watched almost all of "Agent K Reactivated" (김부장) starring So JiSub, Choi DaeHoon and Yoon KyungHo.

1:00:11 - Linda's new favourite musical is "Operation Mincemeat".

1:02:28 - Judy watched "The East Palace" (동궁) starring Nam JooHyuk, Noh YoonSeo and Cho SeungWoo.

1:06:03 - Linda watched "The Other Bennet Sister", starring Ella Bruccoleri.

1:08:29 - Judy read "A Very Vexing Murder" by Lucy Andrew, which is an alternate take on the events in "Emma" by Jane Austen. A light fun read!

1:11:11 - Judy watched "Guardian: The Lonely and Great God 10th Anniversary" (도깨비 10주년 여행). It was fun to see the main cast hang out and reminisce about filming the drama.

1:13:28 - Linda most emphatically does not want you to watch "Enola Holmes 3".

1:14:42 - Surely, everyone has watched "Project Hail Mary" by now? If not, why not?

1:16:26 - Linda watched "The Gilded Age" and thinks Judy will enjoy the fantastic historical costumes.

1:18:30 - Judy watched "The Odyssey", which truly is a spectacle.

1:23:25 - Linda enjoyed "Spider-Man: Brand New Day", starring Tom Holland and Zendaya.

1:24:46 - Judy watched "Moonfall" and it was a delightful mess.

1:33:38 - Linda was not too impressed with "Hadestown".

1:35:12 - Judy is into medieval history now, thanks to "Gone Medieval" podcast. She also read "Between Two Fires" by Christopher Buehlman, which is a medieval horror fantasy, a genre she had never considered before.

1:38:13 - Linda watched "The Last Kingdom" and "Midway", set in two very different historical periods that she had not really studied before.

1:40:15 - Judy read "She Made Herself a Monster" by Anna Kovatcheva. It revolves a small town in the 19th century, and the women are working together to fight against a brewing witch hunt.

1:42:45 - "Chants of Senaar" is a beautiful indie game, in which you solve puzzles to learn words and help various clans communicate with each other by creating dictionaries.

1:45:32 - Dana Haqjoo, our longtime listener, is now on "The Bombing of Pan Am 103" on Netflix! Congratulations!

1:46:24 - Curtis, our West Coast Correspondent" is the host of the "InfatuAsian Podcast", and Nadira (PewPewPew) is a guest host. There are so many cool guests on the podcast. Great job!

1:47:48 - David, another listener and Judy's friend, is the host of the "Watch Fanatics" podcast. He's also a certified life coach.

  • 228 - KDMEO Episode 218 - KPop Demon Hunters

WHO WANTS TO HIRE LINDA TO WRITE THE SEQUEL? Judy and Linda absolutely loved "KPop Demon Hunters" (케이팝 데몬 헌터스), starring Arden Cho, May Hong, Yoo JiYoung and Ahn HyoSeop.

    Digressions:

    0:56 - Listener E-mails!

10:38 - Judy watched season 2 of "The Devil's Plan" (데블스 플랜), and was annoyed by most of it, but especially furious about the ending.

14:18 - Linda is making the most of her Apple TV+ subscription by watching "The Buccaneers", which is about a group of American debutantes marrying up in the British upper class.

17:41 - "The Blue Castle" a rom-com novel written by Lucy Maud Montgomery. It's a delightful story about an "old maid" finding her own power and rediscovering happiness in her life. You can find it free online at the Gutenberg Project.

21:01 - "Good Boy" (굿보이) is the latest Park BoGum drama, about athletes who have been recruited into the police force. It's surprisingly violent, so beware!

24:39 - Judy's current video game is a fantasy RPG called "Avowed". The writing is good, the gameplay is fine, but the main draw is Brandon Keener, who played Judy's boyfriend in the "Mass Effect" series.

IF YOU DIDN'T CRY, YOU'RE A MONSTER. Judy and Linda give up on trying not to cry through their discussion of the latter half of "When Life Gives You Tangerines" (폭삭 속았수다), starring IU, Park BoGum, Moon SoRi and Park HaeJoon.

  • 226 - KDMEO Episode 216 - When Life Gives You Tangerines (폭삭 속았수다) 1-8

FYI - I CRIED EDITING THIS. Judy and Linda try not to outright sob through their discussion of "When Life Gives You Tangerines" (폭삭 속았수다), starring IU, Park BoGum, Moon SoRi and Park HaeJoon.

    Digressions:

0:57 - New Patreon donor and Listener E-mails!

12:21 - Judy watched "Twisters", starring Glen Powell and Kiernan Shipka. It just didn't have the same charm as the 1996 film. Boo.

14:20 - Linda was surprisingly absorbed by "1883" and "1923", prequels to "Yellowstone". Who knew she would be so into Westerns?

18:08 - Judy read "Convenience Store Woman" by Sayaka Murata and was fascinated by the POV of the main character and her unusual way of dealing with the pressure to conform in society.

20:30 - Judy watched "Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny" and couldn't believe she slept through the climax. Yikes.

    Audio clips:

    Brian Tyler - "1883" - "1883 Theme"

  • 225 - KDMEO Episode 215 - Melo Movie (멜로무비)

HOW CAN A DRAMA GO FROM BEING TEDIOUS IN THE FIRST HALF TO DEVASTATING IN THE LATTER HALF. Judy and Linda watched "Melo Movie" (멜로무비), a Netflix drama starring Choi WooSik, Park BoYoung, Lee JunYoung, Jeon SoNee and Kim JaeWook.

    Digressions:

    0:46 - Listener E-mails!

17:28 - Judy is playing "Dragon Age: The Veilguard", but isn't romancing anybody! So far, the story feels a bit nebulous, but the gameplay feels great and she's enjoying it! Judy uses the wrong pronouns for the character of Taash, because she hasn't gotten to the point in the game where they confirms their pronouns as they/them. Sorry!

21:56 - Linda was hooked by the end of the first episode of "Paradise", starring James Marsden and has binged the entire first season! Check it out!

24:57 - Judy watched "The Witcher: Sirens of the Deep" animated film on Netflix, and it was goofy fun but we were not expecting straight up Little Mermaid.

27:04 - Linda watched "THE MOON" (더문) starring D.O. about a lone astronaut who survives a disaster on the moon.

    Some Korean terms:

    솔의 눈: [sol-eui-noon] pine bud;

Joseph Trapanese - "The Witcher: Sirens of the Deep" - "Allamorax Attack"

하람 (feat. 기탁) - "더문" (THE MOON) - "The Moon"
