Tue, 13 Oct 2026 - 8min - 5774 - Tomorrow marks Baby Loss Awareness Day- We hear from a Limerick spokesperson who has experienced loss
Thursday is Baby Loss Awareness Day – a day dedicated to remembering the babies who have died during pregnancy or shortly after birth, and supporting the families who live with that loss every day.
It’s a subject that can be incredibly difficult to talk about. Sometimes, people are afraid to mention a baby’s name or ask a bereaved parent how they’re doing because they’re worried they might upset them. But for parents who have lost a child, that baby is still their son or daughter, and they remain part of the family forever.
A Little Lifetime Foundation was established by bereaved parents who understood just how important it is to have support from people who truly understand what you’re going through.
Vincent Phelan is the chairperson of the charity. He works in Limerick, has his own experience of baby loss, and he joins the show.
