A note on this episode: Since the recording of this episode I have learned neuroscience no longer speaks of the limbic brain and the frontal cortex as being the "reptilian brain" and they are finding that emotion is far more complex than we once thought. The amygdala is no longer considered to be the "fear center" for example but is only partially and sometimes involved in the emotion of fear. I do however still find the "lizard and wizard" a useful metaphor for the tensions and types of experiences that can arise interoceptively when we're at our best and when we're in states that are not always helpful.
