  • 29 - Rico Harris: The Former Athlete Who Vanished on a California Highway

Rico Omarr Harris was thirty-seven years old when he disappeared during a drive from Southern California to Seattle in October 2014. A former Harlem Globetrotter and a standout player whose basketball career once carried major expectations, Harris was trying to build a more permanent life in Washington with his girlfriend, Jennifer Song. He had visited family in the Los Angeles area and was expected to continue north for a job opportunity. Instead, Harris left the usual route toward Seattle and traveled into the remote Cache Creek and Capay Valley region of Yolo County. His black Nissan Maxima was discovered near Cache Creek Regional Park along California State Route 16 on October thirteenth, twenty fourteen. Investigators found no clear evidence of a struggle at the vehicle. Media recovered from Harris's phone indicated that he had reached the area alive, but it did not explain why he left the car or where he went afterward. Search teams examined roads, steep terrain, Cache Creek, and nearby wilderness using aircraft, dogs, ground crews, and water searches. Witnesses later reported seeing a man resembling Harris along Route 16, though those sightings were never confirmed. More than a decade later, California authorities still list Rico Harris as missing. The central question remains: how did a highly recognizable six-foot-nine former professional athlete disappear after leaving his car beside a remote California highway? • 28 - Relisha Rudd: The Little Girl Who Disappeared From a Homeless Shelter

Eight-year-old Relisha Tenau Rudd disappeared while living with her family at the D.C. General Family Shelter in Washington, D.C. In early 2014, Relisha stopped attending Payne Elementary School. Adults gave school personnel explanations that she was ill and supposedly receiving care from a person identified as โ€œDr. Tatum.โ€ When the explanation was checked, school staff learned that Tatum was not a doctor. He was Kahlil Malik Tatum, a shelter janitor who had become familiar with Relisha and her family. Surveillance footage later documented Relisha with Tatum at Washington-area hotels. March 1, 2014, remains her last confirmed sighting. As police searched for Relisha, Tatumโ€™s wife, Andrea Tatum, was found fatally shot in Maryland. Tatum was later found dead in the Kenilworth Park area before investigators could question him about Relishaโ€™s disappearance. Searches did not locate Relisha or establish what happened after the hotel footage. MPD continues to investigate, and the FBI continues to offer a reward of up to $25,000 for information leading to Relishaโ€™s location and return. • 27 - Leah Roberts: The Jeep Found at the Bottom of a Ravine

On March ninth, two thousand, twenty-three-year-old Leah Toby Roberts left Durham, North Carolina, in her white nineteen ninety-three Jeep Cherokee. She left a note suggesting she expected to return, brought her cat Bea, and drove west without giving family or friends a complete itinerary. Receipts and records placed Leah in Brooks, Oregon, shortly after midnight on March thirteenth, and in Bellingham, Washington, later that day. After reported contact at a Bellingham restaurant, the confirmed trail stopped. On March eighteenth, her Jeep was found down a steep wooded embankment off Canyon Creek Road in Whatcom County. Leah was gone. So was Bea. In or around the wreck were Leahโ€™s identification, passport, checkbook, guitar, clothing, cat supplies, cash, and jewelry. Her motherโ€™s engagement ring was reportedly recovered inside the Jeep, possibly beneath a floor mat or in another concealed area. Searches found no confirmed trace of Leah. Later vehicle review raised the possibility that the Jeep had been mechanically altered and that the crash may have been staged. A fingerprint under the hood and male DNA reportedly obtained from an item associated with Leah have not publicly solved the case. Leah remains missing, and the central mystery is whether the Jeep marks an accident, a staged scene, a voluntary disappearance, or an encounter with someone still unidentified. • 26 - The Springfield Three: Three Women Vanished From One House

On June seventh, nineteen ninety-two, Sherrill Levitt, her daughter Suzie Streeter, and Suzieโ€™s friend Stacy McCall were reported missing from Sherrillโ€™s home on East Delmar Street in Springfield, Missouri. Suzie and Stacy had graduated from Kickapoo High School the day before and attended graduation gatherings that night. Police records say they were last seen at about two fifteen in the morning, leaving a party and heading toward Sherrillโ€™s home. Sherrill was last heard from around eleven fifteen the night before, during a phone call with a friend. By later that morning, all three women were gone. Their vehicles, purses, keys, clothing, and other ordinary belongings remained at the residence. A family dog was inside. Friends and relatives entered the home before it was understood as a major missing-person scene. A broken porch-light globe was cleaned up, and an unusual answering-machine message was erased before investigators could preserve it. Neither detail has publicly resolved the case. This episode reconstructs the verified timeline, the condition of the home, the early reporting sequence, the searches, witness issues, publicly discussed theories, and the limits of what is known. The central question remains unchanged: what caused three women to disappear from one house without a confirmed destination, a reliable witness to their departure, or a physical trail that has publicly solved the case?
