Ustadh Abdulrahman is uniquely positioned as an individual who combines the experience of traditional Islamic scholarship from the East, as well as the knowledge and understanding of the West. By the tender age of 10, Allah allowed him to memorise The Qur’an and Buloogh Al Maraam – a book that contains more than 1,300 hadith. He then went on to formally study Islam in Saudi Arabia, Egypt and Somalia, before returning to the UK as an Imaam and a da’ee. He has delivered hundreds of hours of Islamic content on YouTube and has fast become a popular name amongst the English-speaking Muslim audience.

Ustadh AbdulRahman Hassan walks through the famous answer of Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah rahimahullah to a man who came to him complaining of being addicted to sins. In a single page, Ibn Taymiyyah outlined ten cures the same ten that Ibn al-Qayyim later expanded into the 700-page classic al-Dā' wa al-Dawā'.
The ten cures cover turning back to Allah, humbling yourself before Him, making du'a at the times it is answered, seeking forgiveness, daily adhkar, patience, completing the obligations, keeping La hawla wa la quwwata illa billah on the tongue, never giving up on supplication, and the certainty that victory comes with patience and ease with hardship and that the door of repentance never closes, no matter how far one has wandered.

This is a lecture introducing a classical Arabic poem (qasida) written by the Andalusian scholar Ibn Bahij (5th century Hijri) in praise of the Mother of the Believers, Aisha رضي الله عنها. Ustadh AbdulRahman Hassan provides biographical context on the author before walking through the poem's 56 lines, which are written as though Aisha رضي الله عنها herself is speaking declaring her unique virtues: being the Prophet's ﷺ only virgin wife, the one in whose home and on whose chest he died, the woman whose honour Allah defended directly in the Quran across ten verses, and the daughter of Abu Bakr al-Siddiq, the greatest of the companions. The lecture is delivered with evident urgency given the modern reality of people openly slandering her, noting that scholars have ruled such slander constitutes disbelief.
The second half of the lecture pivots to the towering virtues of Abu Bakr رضي الله عنه his sacrificing all his wealth for the Prophet ﷺ, his companionship in the cave, his courage in fighting the apostates after the Prophet's death, and Jibreel's own testimony to his poverty in the path of Allah. Ustadh AbdulRahman Hassan ties it all together with a powerful message: loving Aisha means cutting ties with those who insult her, and true love of the Prophet ﷺ is inseparable from love of his family and his companions together, not one at the expense of the other.

In this lecture, Ustadh AbdulRahman Hassan addresses a growing issue in our times: people hastily placing themselves at the forefront of daʿwah without proper grounding, adab, or clarity. He explains that Islam unrestrictedly grants every Muslim the responsibility to enjoin good and forbid evil, meaning that clear and agreed-upon matters of the dīn are not limited to a select class. At its core, daʿwah includes calling people to iṣlāḥ rectifying corrupted manners, improving character, and reforming the moral condition of society.
At the same time, Ustadh AbdulRahman Hassan carefully outlines the limits and ethics of daʿwah. He stresses that public condemnation of rulers is not from the methodology of the Salaf; rather, sincere advice should be given privately to prevent division and chaos. He then clarifies who is truly “fit” to advise others: one who possesses bayyinah (clear knowledge of what they command or forbid), wisdom in dealing with evidence and doubts, and personal uprightness that helps people accept the message. While personal righteousness strengthens daʿwah, shortcomings are not an excuse for silence abandoning the duty altogether can itself become a grave failing.

He highlights the hadith of Usāmah ibn Zayd رضي الله عنه showing that Sha’ban is often neglected between Rajab and Ramadan, and that it is a time when deeds are raised to Allah so the Prophet ﷺ loved for his deeds to be raised while he was fasting. Ustadh AbdulRahman Hassan explains that one of the greatest harms of sins is that they humiliate a person. First in the sight of Allah, then in the sight of the creation. He mentions that sins are not “new”; many of them are inherited from earlier nations whom Allah destroyed, and when a Muslim adopts those sins (and even imitates corrupt ways), he is in reality wearing the “clothing” of the enemies of Allah. The lesson highlights that real honour is not gained through status, image, or people’s praise, but through obedience to Allah, and whoever seeks honour by disobedience is only moving closer to disgrace.
He also warns that repeated sinning makes the sin feel small in the heart, and this is a sign of destruction: the heart begins to love what Allah hates, and a person loses the sensitivity of īmān. The believer sees his sins like a mountain about to fall on him, while the sinful person treats them like a fly; no fear, no remorse. Ustadh reminds that tawbah restores the heart back to its “clean” state, and that sins don’t just harm the individual; they can harm families, communities, and even bring wider punishment if evil is left unchecked. The conclusion is a call to return to Allah, protect one’s honour through obedience, and never normalise sin.

In this lecture, Ustadh Abdulrahman Hassan begins by laying down a foundational principle: Islam was revealed to secure human welfare, benefit in both dunyā and ākhirah; by bringing and completing benefits (maṣāliḥ) and removing or reducing harms (mafāsid), while also lifting hardship from people. Because Allah created humanity and legislated the religion, the rulings are inherently compatible with what truly benefits us.
From there, Ustadh mentions that buying and selling (muʿāmalāt) is not a side topic in Islam; it’s part of the religion just like ṣalāh and ṣawm. Therefore, anyone engaging in transactions whether running a business or simply purchasing daily items needs at least a basic level of knowledge of what is ḥalāl and ḥarām, especially regarding ribā, because ignorance in trade is often negligence, not a valid excuse.
Ustadh supports this with narrations and statements:
A warning that many traders will be resurrected as sinners except those who have taqwā, uprightness, and truthfulness.
The idea that honesty and clarity in transactions bring barakah, while lying and concealing defects removes barakah.
Reports that ʿUmar ibn al-Khaṭṭāb would not allow people to sell in the marketplace unless they had fiqh knowledge of trade.
Statements from scholars like Imām al-Nawawī stressing that whoever wants to trade must learn its conditions and distinguish valid contracts from invalid ones.
Finally, he emphasizes a practical solution: if someone can’t study deeply, they should consult scholars or place qualified Sharīʿah oversight (raqabah/sharīʿah board) over contracts because the goal is to ensure one’s income is pure, avoid feeding one’s family ḥarām, and prevent harm from spreading into the community.

War was never the plan.

The Muslims left Madinah intending to intercept a caravan. But once the caravan escaped, new information reached both sides, and the direction of events shifted.
