In beginning of Mark 9 Jesus tells His disciples that some among them will witness the kingdom of God in power. Soon after, He leads Peter, James, and John up a mountain where He is transfigured before them - His divine glory revealed in radiant light. Moses and Elijah appear, symbolizing the fulfillment of the Law and the Prophets in Christ. Overwhelmed, Peter suggests building shelters, but a voice from heaven declares, “This is my Beloved Son; listen to Him.” This moment affirms Jesus’ identity and foreshadows His resurrection, reminding us that the cross comes before the crown. Are we listening to Him?

In Mark 8, Jesus challenges His disciples - and us - to see beyond the surface. Are we missing what He’s trying to show us? In verses 14-21, the disciples worry about bread, but Jesus reminds them of His power and provision. Later, in verses 27-38, Peter confesses Jesus as the Messiah, only to struggle with the true cost of following Him. In Mark 6:32-50, we see two powerful moments that reveal Jesus' compassion and authority - the feeding of the five thousand and His miraculous walk on water. Through these events, Jesus not only meets the physical needs of His followers but also calls them to trust Him completely, even in the midst of uncertainty and fear. Just as He provided for the hungry crowd and calmed the disciples' fears on the stormy sea, He is still our provider and sustainer today. He teaches us that spiritual kinship transcends biological relations, and being part of God's family means doing His will. The chapter inspires us to stand firm in faith despite opposition, knowing that our true identity is found in doing God's will.

Mark 2 unveils a Jesus who is not only a miracle-worker but also a radical teacher challenging the religious norms of His time. He asserts His authority over sickness, sin, societal expectations, and even the Sabbath. The chapter reminds us that faith in Jesus might involve questioning old practices and assumptions, urging us to embrace the transformative power of His teachings.

The Gospel of Mark is a powerful account of Jesus Christ’s life and ministry. In the first chapter, we’re introduced to John the Baptist, who prepares the way for the Lord’s coming. As Jesus is baptized by John, the heavens open up and God the Father declares, “You are my beloved Son; with you I am well pleased.” From there, Jesus is driven into the wilderness to be tempted by Satan for 40 days. He emerges victorious and begins his ministry in Galilee, proclaiming the good news of the kingdom of God. Jesus calls his first disciples—Simon, Andrew, James, and John—who leave everything to follow him.

On this fourth Sunday of Advent, we light the Candle of Love, a reminder of God’s immeasurable love revealed in the birth of Jesus. As we prepare to celebrate Christmas, let this candle inspire us to reflect on His great love with others. “This is how God showed His love among us: He sent His one and only Son into the world that we might live through Him.” 1 John 4:9 May the joy of the angels, the wonder of the shepherds, and the peace of the Christ child fill your hearts this Christmas. On this third Sunday of Advent, we light the Candle of Joy, celebrating the good news of great joy that came with the birth of Jesus. This joy is not dependent on our circumstances but is rooted in the unshakable truth of God’s love and salvation. “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people.” Luke 2:10 As we continue our Advent journey, may our hearts be filled with the joy of Christ, and may we share that joy with the world around us. Let His presence be the source of our gladness this season and always.

The peace of God allows us to look at others through heaven’s eyes and help guide the world to see God’s here and not-yet here kingdom. Peace from God, biblical peace, allows us to trust in God’s promises (Proverbs 3:5), through restful, tranquil faith, despite the dark, scary world around us.

Today marks the beginning of Advent, a season of anticipation and preparation as we reflect on the coming of Christ. On this first Sunday, we light the Candle of Hope, reminding us of God’s promise to bring light into a world of darkness. “The people walking in darkness have seen a great light; on those living in the land of deep darkness a light has dawned.” Isaiah 9:2 As we enter this holy season, let us anchor our hearts in the hope found in Jesus Christ, our savior. His arrival brings the assurance that God’s promises are true and His love endures forever.

This psalm is simply titled A Psalm of Thanksgiving, and it is the only psalm in the collection to bear this title. It speaks of an invitation to the whole earth to know and to worship God. “It is jubilant with confidence for the whole earth, as it contemplates the glory of that earth, when all its people are submitted to the reign of Jehovah."

Titus chapter 3 applies the teachings which Paul gave in chapters 2 and 3. He encourages Christians to live separately from the immoral culture of Crete. Paul contrasts seven worthy behaviors with seven sins associated with unbelief.

In Titus Chapter 2, Paul has instructions for people who were in the church. He told Titus about these guidelines so he could pass them on to help people conduct themselves in a more orderly manner.
