Raging Moderates with Scott Galloway and Jessica Tarlov

- 233 - Trump LOSES IT Over Canada’s New European Alliance (Live from New York)
LIVE from the 92nd Street Y in New York City! Scott Galloway and Jessica Tarlov take the stage to break down the biggest stories shaping the road to the 2026 midterms — from the growing political backlash over AI, including the unlikely alliance between Bernie Sanders and Steve Bannon, to Trump’s escalating trade fight with Canada and his new threat of tariffs against Europe over Canada’s push for closer ties with the EU. They also dig into Democratic strategy, gerrymandering, election security, and what voters are telling us about the political landscape heading into the midterms. Then, Jessica goes inside her new book, I Disagree: Winning Arguments Without Losing Friends, and shares what she’s learned about having political disagreements without destroying the relationships that matter most — including a difficult on-air exchange with Greg Gutfeld and how to handle that inevitable argument with your loved ones. Thu, 17 Sep 2026 - 232 - The Supreme Court Stops Trump's Mail Ballot Plan, Hegseth Faces Impeachment, and Canada Pivots to the EU
Jessica Tarlov and Aaron Parnas sit down to talk about the latest political news — and celebrate the publication of Jessica’s new book I DISAGREE — available now! Get your copy: https://sites.prh.com/idisagree They start with the U.S.-Canada trade war showing no signs of resolution. Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney is in Europe this week pushing for a "unique alliance" between Canada and the EU. They break down what message that sends and what it changes for the longer-term U.S.-Canada relationship. Voting is now officially underway in North Carolina, but the legal fight over mail-in ballots isn't over. The Supreme Court has blocked Trump's plan to have the U.S. Postal Service screen and potentially withhold mail-in ballots, in a brief unsigned opinion noting the plan was likely unlawful. Trump responded by attacking the justices on social media, writing: "These are not the people I interviewed to serve on the United States Supreme Court, they are merely a shell of their original selves." Aaron breaks down the ruling and the state of voter restriction heading into November. Rep. Thomas Massie (R-KY) has introduced articles of impeachment against Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, alleging he waged the Iran war illegally, ignored a congressional order to withdraw, and caused unnecessary civilian casualties. Kalshi currently puts the likelihood of Hegseth leaving his job for any reason by December 1st at 29%. Massie's term is ending this year, after he lost his primary. How bold an action is this really? Republican lawmakers are pushing back on Trump's recent pledge to give every American adult $5,000 if Republicans retain their majority after November. Aaron breaks down why it's actually politically useful for Republicans to distance themselves from this idea right now. New details have emerged about Donald Trump Jr.'s recent wedding in the Bahamas — including an after-party paid for by a Russian businessman. Aaron breaks down what we know about who Umar Kremlev is and what his connection to the Trump family means. And finally: after pressure from venue owners, Macklemore has been dropped as an opening act for Ed Sheeran's stadium tour. The pressure came after Macklemore said "Free Palestine" onstage. The internet has a lot of thoughts. Aaron and Jessica react. Wed, 16 Sep 2026 - 231 - Trump Calls AI Danger a HOAX, Newsom’s Stunning 2028 Pledge, and McConnell RETURNS
Scott Galloway and Jessica Tarlov start with one of the biggest campaign issues of the midterm cycle. Trump is calling the idea that AI could destroy humanity a "hoax" like climate change, arguing the only guardrails needed are a "STRONG AND SMART (HIGH IQ!) PRESIDENT." Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang is aligning with Trump, taking a live call from the president during a podcast taping. Meanwhile, former President Obama is calling on Democrats to move AI oversight to the top of their agenda, and even Elon Musk is asking for more industry oversight. AI stocks have been falling amid mounting safety warnings. Is the bubble bursting? Looking ahead to 2028: California Governor Gavin Newsom told CNN's Jake Tapper that if Kamala Harris decides to run again, he'll stand down. Does this reflect a genuine lack of momentum for the 2028 field — or top-notch political maneuvering? Finally, Senator Mitch McConnell returned to the Senate yesterday to cast his first vote after 13 weeks of absence following his hospitalization in mid-June. The 84-year-old Kentucky Republican offered little explanation for the extended absence, which generated intense speculation over his health all summer. Tue, 15 Sep 2026 - 230 - 50 Days to Midterms: Trump DOWNPLAYS the AI Apocalypse (ft. Dana Bash)
Scott Galloway and Jessica Tarlov are joined by Dana Bash — CNN's chief political correspondent, anchor of Inside Politics and State of the Union, and author of the new book The Elections That Changed the World: Fifteen Pivotal Moments That Shaped How We Live — available September 22nd. They begin with the midterm landscape, 50 days out. A new poll has Democrats leading Republicans 42% to 30% in enthusiasm to vote — a significant gap. Scott, Jessica, and Dana talk about whether Dems can keep this momentum into November, and whether Mitch McConnell will finally return to Congress now that it's back in session. Anthropic's CEO called for a slowdown in AI development over the weekend, and a new and unlikely alliance has emerged. Bernie Sanders and Steve Bannon are teaming up to advocate for a slowdown in AI development — making opposition to generative AI, Big Tech, and data center buildout among the starkest bipartisan issues of our era. Dana breaks down how growing fears about AI and the data center backlash are shaping the midterm political landscape. Then, Dana's new book. The Elections That Changed the World looks at fifteen elections across history — from Julius Caesar in ancient Rome, all the way to the modern era — that fundamentally shape how we live today. She explains what makes these elections — and any election — truly consequential, how much of our modern political dysfunction has roots in much earlier moments, and which election had consequences most radically different from what voters thought they were choosing at the time. They close with the question: is there room for anyone in the center now? Mon, 14 Sep 2026 - 229 - Trump’s Desperate $5,000 Bribe to Save the GOP Could Blow Up in His Face
Scott Galloway and Jessica Tarlov mark Raging Moderates' two-year anniversary with a packed episode on one of the most significant news days of the year. On the eve of the 25th anniversary of the September 11th attacks — and the one-year mark since the Charlie Kirk assassination — Trump and the GOP gathered for night one of the first-ever RNC midterm convention. Trump used the stage to make a remarkable promise: a $5,000 "Trump dividend" for every American adult if Republicans hold onto Congress. Scott and Jess break down night one, react to the surprise cameo by Democratic Sen. John Fetterman, and weigh in on James Talarico doing counter-programming on Fox News, where the Democratic hope of Texas reversed some of his past controversial positions. Also, it’s the two-year anniversary of the launch of Raging Moderates. Scott and Jess revisit some takes from their very first episode. Two years in, how are they feeling about the show and where America stands compared to where it was when they started? And finally: Tomorrow marks 25 years since 9/11. Scott and Jess pause to reflect on the experience of living through that harrowing day. And for Jessica, this tragedy struck very close to home, as she speaks about openly and vulnerably here. Thu, 10 Sep 2026 - 228 - Trump’s GOP Is in Full Panic As Republicans Flee His Convention Flop
The first-ever GOP midterm convention is underway in Dallas, and a number of high-profile Republicans, particularly those in battleground territory, are notably skipping it. The party has even been offering free tickets to help fill seats, at a moment when Trump's approval rating is at an all-time low and oil hits $100 a barrel amid escalating chaos in the Middle East. Trump is competing with NFL kickoff and insisting the American Airlines Center is "totally sold out." What will the vibes be like on the ground, and more importantly - what will ratings look like? Plus, why Aaron thinks the midterms will be closer races than polls would suggest. This week marks the 25th anniversary of September 11, 2001. New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani is releasing more than 170,000 pages of city records documenting the government's response to the attacks and their aftermath, launching the city's first public portal dedicated to 9/11 records. But controversy surrounds the commemoration: former Mayor Rudy Giuliani says he doesn't want Mamdani at Friday's ceremony, and Trump falsely claimed that firefighters carried him away from the site after the attacks. Aaron and Jessica break down the commentary around Mamdani, how people are grappling with the tension between honoring families' grief and holding the city accountable, and reflecting on how history repeats itself. New disclosures show Trump gave three young White House staffers $45,000 each as Christmas gifts — including executive assistant Natalie Harp, who is rarely more than a few feet from the president. A former White House ethics lawyer says the payments may violate federal law. The White House insists they were simply holiday gifts. Is this generosity — or a serious ethical and legal problem? A senior Anthropic researcher has publicly stated he believes there is more than a 10% chance AI could kill all humans within the next decade — and he's not alone, with several Anthropic researchers now warning publicly that AI could become uncontrollable. Are we actually on track for an AI apocalypse? Plus, Jess and Aaron take listener questions. Wed, 09 Sep 2026 - 227 - The Canada Trade War Might Actually Cost Trump More Than It Costs Canada
Scott Galloway and Jessica Tarlov break down a packed Tuesday, starting with the news that Canada's counter-tariffs are officially in effect — and Trump is escalating rather than negotiating. In recent days he has threatened to bar Bombardier from the U.S. market unless it builds there, accused Canada of blocking American banks and companies while benefiting from American customers, and floated ending all trade with Canada entirely. How does this end? The Republican National Committee is holding its first-ever midterm national convention this week. Unlike a presidential nominating convention, there is no party business or nominations, which means it's shaping up to be a two-night Trump rally. Scott and Jess break down what to expect from the event, and why Democrats aren't hosting something similar. Is it a missed opportunity? An Israeli newspaper is reporting that Prime Minister Netanyahu was personally warned by UAE President Mohammed bin Zayed that Hamas was planning a major offensive roughly ten days before the October 7, 2023 attack. What implications does this have for the ongoing conflict in the region today? It has now been three months since Mitch McConnell was last present in the Senate. Will Republicans start publicly demanding he resign — and what happens to his seat if he does? Plus, the Trump administration has proposed a new child care subsidy that would let married couples in certain income brackets collect money if one parent stays home — funded by redirecting money from the $12 billion Child Care and Development Fund, which was created to help low and moderate income parents work or attend school. The program currently provides about $9,000 per child per year. Who benefits from this proposal — and who gets left out? Tue, 08 Sep 2026 - 226 - The Economy Is Sending Trump a WARNING Republicans Can’t Ignore
Scott Galloway and Jessica Tarlov open by addressing a warning signal that Washington appears to be ignoring: the 10-year Treasury yield just hit 4.81% — up from 4.20% in January — while the 30-year remains at levels not seen this persistently since 2006. With a $2 trillion deficit, potentially billions in tariff refunds, and a Fed that could raise rates to fight inflation that’s now at 3.4% annually, the economic picture heading into the midterms is… complicated. Are Republicans turning away from these issues in order to keep Trump happy — and how likely is an interest rate hike from Trump's own Fed chair? The Trump administration is doubling down on AI data centers — even as about 70% of Americans say they oppose building one in their community. Trump says communities against them "want to be backwards and poor," while Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick is calling concerns about their water use propaganda from U.S. adversaries. Scott and Jess break down why this has become such a political flashpoint — and why Trump is pushing so hard for something so deeply unpopular. U.S. data center power demand is projected to nearly double to 95 GW by the end of 2027, all while electricity prices are rising fast. New York City has rolled out the nation's broadest generative AI moratorium in schools — banning student-facing AI tools for a year for 600,000 students from preschool through 8th grade. Is this a positive step from mayor Zohran Mamdani— or is this setting up NYC’s youth to fall behind? Scott and Jess also connect a policy like this to broader problems facing many Democrat-run cities, such as governing amidst a homelessness crisis in San Francisco. In Massachusetts, 80-year-old Senator Ed Markey, the co-author of the Green New Deal who was first elected to Congress in 1976, successfully fended off a primary challenge from Rep. Seth Moulton. In a cycle defined by younger challengers ousting incumbents, Markey is an outlier, having positioned himself as the more progressive candidate. Does his win say anything meaningful about the age debate — or is this a rare exception? Thu, 03 Sep 2026 - 225 - Is the USPS Helping Trump Rig the Election?
Get your ticket for our live show at 92NY: https://www.92ny.org/event/scott-galloway-and-jessica-tarlovJessica Tarlov and Aaron Parnas are back for Raging Perspective, breaking down the week's biggest stories live. Military strikes between the U.S. and Iran have intensified again after a month of relative quiet — and the markets noticed immediately. The Dow closed down nearly 500 points, oil prices climbed back toward $100 a barrel, and the U.S. private sector added just 38,000 jobs in August, well below forecasts. Meanwhile, House Speaker Mike Johnson is being asked about Congress's role in authorizing the use of force — and Army Secretary Dan Driscoll has resigned, in what looks like the latest in a pattern of Vance allies departing as Rubio allies gain ground inside the administration. They also preview what the 2028 field might look like, and ask whether Howard Lutnick is becoming the administration’s favorite fall guy. House Democrats are threatening consequences for Representatives Jared Golden and Marie Gluesenkamp Perez after both broke with Democratic leadership to help advance a key Republican procedural vote. Hakeem Jeffries has called it a "significant breach of trust" and asked the caucus rules committee to consider stripping them of their committee assignments. Was this justified — or is the party eating its own? A whistleblower disclosure filed through Senator Blumenthal's office reveals that USPS is rushing out a system to implement Trump's mail voting order — and according to the whistleblower, it is "secretive, rushed, chaotic, and fundamentally flawed." The plan requires states to upload lists of mail voters with barcoded ballot envelopes; if USPS scanners find even one mismatch in a batch, the entire batch — potentially tens of thousands of ballots — gets kicked back to the state instead of delivered. Mail-in voting starts this week. A federal judge has frozen the mandatory part of the rule, but the Justice Department is appealing. Is this the administration getting its way even when it loses in court? In Times Square, a knife-wielding suspect killed 32-year-old Erin Piacenti — a Bank of America vice president and lawyer from New Jersey — on what was her first day back at work after maternity leave. The suspect, a 49-year-old woman, was shot and killed by NYPD after graphic video of the confrontation spread widely on social media. Jessica and Aaron break down what we know. And before the audience Q&A: AOC is single and showing up. Jessica and Aaron react. Wed, 02 Sep 2026 - 224 - Scott's Back — And So Are Iran Strikes, the Canada Trade War, and a Very Smelly TikTok Trend
Get your tickets now for our live show at 92NY: https://www.92ny.org/event/scott-galloway-and-jessica-tarlov Scott Galloway is back — and so is the Iran war. He joins Jessica Tarlov to discuss the new round of fire between the U.S. and Iran after a month-long lull in military strikes. The resumption comes alongside growing fractures inside the administration: Army Secretary Dan Driscoll resigned after months of tension with Secretary Pete Hegseth, six months into a war with no visible endgame. There are reports that senior military leaders have warned Hegseth that current operations aren't sustainable. Meanwhile, Hegseth was spotted in Iowa looking increasingly like a 2028 presidential candidate, and Trump has now weighed in on the idea. The Canada tariff deadline is one week away. Canadian retaliatory tariffs kick in on September 8th, focused on politically sensitive goods like steel, dairy, appliances, and construction materials. Scott and Jess debate whether Trump will blink before the deadline, whether Canada is right to hold its ground, and what it means if Canada starts pivoting to new long-term trading partners and strengthening ties with other allies. With nine weeks until the midterm elections, Scott gets caught up on everything he missed. The odds of Republicans keeping Senate control are 52% on Kalshi, but Jess breaks down the mounting favorables for Democrats headed into November. How will 2026 stack up against the 2018 “blue wave”? And finally: a particularly funky TikTok trend involves skipping showers, ditching deodorant, wearing the same clothes for days, and — for the truly committed — drinking one’s own urine… all in pursuit of a "natural musk,” supposedly more attractive to women. Scott and Jess ask who exactly benefits from pushing this narrative on social media. Tue, 01 Sep 2026 - 223 - Trump’s Foreign Policy Could Define the Midterms — And He’s Losing
Jessica Tarlov is joined by Ryan Grim, reporter at Drop Site News and co-host of Breaking Points, for a wide-ranging conversation nine weeks before the midterms. They open with the state of the races. Democrats have flipped roughly 30 state legislative seats in special elections since Trump returned to office, while Republicans have flipped none. With a wave of progressives and anti-establishment candidates winning primaries, can Democrats make the big tent work in the general? And how would Ryan rate the Republican strategy heading into the fall? They check in on the race in Michigan with progressive Abdul Al-Sayed. And one primary still to watch: Massachusetts, where 80-year-old Senator Ed Markey is running for another six-year term against Rep. Seth Moulton. In a cycle where incumbents have been falling to younger, more progressive challengers, Markey has uniquely positioned himself as the more progressive candidate — touting his record as coauthor of the Green New Deal. Polling has him far ahead of the younger Moulton. What does Markey's campaign tell us about where the Democratic Party is heading? Then, according to reporting in The Washington Post, a classified Pentagon planning document revealed that senior U.S. military leaders have warned Secretary Pete Hegseth that sustaining current operations against Iran isn't feasible. Ryan breaks down how dire the situation actually is — and what it means that these officials are putting this on record, knowing how Hegseth treats military leaders who push back. A New York Times investigation has found that a growing number of political influencers are being paid by campaigns and outside groups to endorse candidates on social media without disclosing those payments to viewers, a practice that is largely unregulated at the federal level. And, more distressingly, the Pentagon appears to also have certain content creators on their payroll. What does this mean for the future of political media? On the Canada trade war: Google Maps has renamed Lake Ontario "Lake America" for U.S. users, following the Gulf of Mexico precedent. Meanwhile, Republican lawmakers are speaking out against Trump's tariff escalation and his decision to allow 300,000 tons of foreign beef into the country duty-free. Is this another Trump news cycle that ends in a backdown — or something more serious? Fri, 28 Aug 2026 - 221 - Trump's Canada Trade War Is Destroying Republicans in the Exact States They Need to Win
Jessica Tarlov is joined by Katie Phang, lawyer, legal analyst, and host of the MeidasTouch podcast Sidebar with Katie Phang. They open discussing Trump’s trade war with Canada, which is now landing squarely on the swing-state Republicans who were hoping tariffs had faded from the headlines. Border state lawmakers in Maine and Michigan are feeling the blowback, as are agricultural strongholds like Iowa and North Carolina. Trump's move to temporarily ease tariffs on imported beef has rural GOP lawmakers worried, especially after the FDA issued multiple meat recalls including one this month on ground beef imported from Argentina. Is this Trump simply not caring about down-ballot Republicans? Jess and Katie check in on the current civil war in the Democratic party. Will the establishment wing move left, after a number of DSA primary wins across the country? Have the Democratic purity tests gone too far? The Trump administration has paused immigrant visa interviews at U.S. embassies and consulates worldwide, just days after a federal judge ruled that an earlier blanket visa freeze on 75 countries was unlawful. Simultaneously, the administration is preparing to revoke up to 200,000 business and tourism visas from foreigners who applied for asylum — potentially the single largest mass visa revocation in U.S. history. Katie breaks down the political calculus behind continuing these moves. Two days after the Supreme Court handed the Trump administration a procedural win on their efforts to restrict mail-in voting, Democratic-led states are back in court, challenging the finalized USPS rule that would restrict who gets mailed a ballot. Katie assesses the true implications of the SCOTUS ruling, in light of the ongoing nationwide injunction that still blocks the rule for November, and whether the real strategy here is simply to sow enough confusion to suppress turnout. Meta has agreed to settle claims from a bipartisan coalition of state attorneys general that it knowingly designed Instagram and Facebook to be addictive to children — agreeing to pay up to $17.1 billion and committing to new usage restrictions for under-18 users. Is this a genuine reckoning for social media — or a settlement that lets the industry off the hook? In South Carolina, Darline Graham — sister of the late Senator Lindsey Graham — has won her GOP runoff and will face Democratic nominee Dr. Annie Andrews in November. Kalshi has Graham winning the seat at 86%. Katie weighs in on whether a Democrat could ever realistically compete in this race. And finally, remembering Dolly Parton. Dolly, you will be missed. Thu, 27 Aug 2026 - 220 - Democrats in Fox News Territory, the Paramount Merger Crisis, and Data Center Outrage
Get your tickets now for our live show at 92NY: https://www.92ny.org/event/scott-galloway-and-jessica-tarlov Jessica Tarlov is joined by Michael Grynbaum, media correspondent at The New York Times and author of Empire of the Elite: Inside Condé Nast, for a conversation on media strategy, corporate power, and the political landscape with just over two months until the midterms. They open with a question Jessica is uniquely positioned to ask: should Democrats be doing more appearances on conservative media? Yesterday, progressive Michigan Senate hopeful Abdul El-Sayed joined Fox News primetime host Jesse Watters. Jessica and Michael break down whether El-Sayed came out on top, and whether the broader strategy of reaching voters outside the Democratic media ecosystem is paying off. Can Democrats appeal to working-class men by embracing “bro-iness”? The Paramount/Warner Bros. merger is on ice; the $111 billion deal has cleared all required regulatory approvals but remains frozen by an antitrust suit from a coalition of states led by California. Michael, who covers the Ellison family and the media industry closely, breaks down whether the merger might actually be stopped, where media concentration goes next, and if this is a signal of upheaval for Hollywood. They also talk about some recent high-profile personnel moves at CBS, CNN, and The New York Times. Data centers have become one of the hottest campaign issues in the 2026 midterms. Ads running in Texas, Ohio, Michigan, Wisconsin, and Pennsylvania are all hammering candidates over their support of data center development. Michael and Jessica discuss why voters are latching onto this issue — and whether it's really about data centers, or a much broader anxiety about AI, inequality, and the economy. Plus: Michael's book Empire of the Elite: Inside Condé Nast is newly out in paperback — and it comes at a moment when major media companies are settling lawsuits with the president. He talks about what’s changed in the landscape of media and power in just a year since its first publication. Tue, 25 Aug 2026 - 219 - Trump Just Turned Canada Into an Enemy — Carney Is Fighting Back (ft. Anne Applebaum)
Jessica Tarlov is joined by Anne Applebaum, staff writer for The Atlantic and Pulitzer Prize-winning historian. They open with the U.S.-Canada trade war, which escalated dramatically over the weekend when talks collapsed minutes before a deadline, triggering 50% tariffs on roughly $20 billion worth of Canadian goods including hockey sticks, building materials, liquor, and clothing. Trump responded by saying Canada "wants the benefits of being a state, without being one." Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney responded by declaring the U.S. "at war" with Canada and announcing dollar-for-dollar retaliatory tariffs on U.S. steel, dairy, appliances, agricultural equipment, pulp and paper, and electronics, effective September 8th. Is Carney showing the kind of resolve other foreign leaders should be emulating? On the bigger world stage, Jess and Anne take a look at the precarious state of U.S. alliances — NATO, in particular. Eastern allies are now offering to shoulder more of the costs of hosting U.S. troops, apparently in an effort to appease Trump, as the U.S. continues to scale back its commitments to the alliance. Anne and Jess assess NATO's options in the context of an ongoing Ukraine war and a retreating America, and whether the long-term survival of the alliance is genuinely at risk. Six months into the Iran conflict with no end in sight, the Trump administration is dramatically escalating economic pressure. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent is unveiling what he calls the "single greatest financial offensive ever marshalled against an adversary," threatening to isolate any country that continues doing business with Iran. Iran's currency has hit a record low, divisions are emerging within its leadership over whether to fight or talk, and Iran is warning neighboring countries that aligning with the U.S. could constitute an "act of war." They also discuss how the relationship between the U.S. and Israel is shifting as a result of this conflict. Stars and Stripes, the independent military newspaper, has been reporting on the 1,300 military families evacuated from Bahrain who, six months into the Iran war, still cannot return home and are facing tens of thousands of dollars in out-of-pocket expenses. Defense Secretary Hegseth has now fired senior staffers at the paper. Anne and Jessica discuss what that move says about press freedom under this administration — and Anne draws on her extensive reporting on Viktor Orbán's Hungary, where a years-long campaign to weaken independent media ultimately failed to save his government. Is there a lesson there for what happens when a government tries to control the information its citizens see? In Ukraine, pressure is mounting on multiple fronts simultaneously. Anti-corruption investigators have released tapes alleging senior officials treated corruption as routine. Former defense minister Mykhailo Fedorov is openly challenging Zelensky and calling for elections. Russia is escalating attacks on civilians. Ukraine faces a $27 billion defense shortfall. And political divisions inside Kyiv are deepening. How serious is this political crisis for Zelensky? And finally: the U.S. Army created a 600-soldier drone battalion earlier this year to learn from Ukraine and prepare for the future of warfare. Months later, it's being phased out by Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth. Is this a strategic correction, or is America falling dangerously behind on drone warfare already defining modern battlefields? Mon, 24 Aug 2026 - 218 - Is the Resistance Era of Democratic Politics Finally Over?
Jessica Tarlov is joined by Susan Glasser, staff writer at The New Yorker, for a wide-ranging conversation on where American politics stands heading into the fall. They open with this week's primaries, starting with Alex Vindman's loss in Florida to DSA member Angie Nixon in the Democratic Senate primary. Is the average Democratic voter genuinely moving on from the "Resistance" era? Susan also weighs in on whether establishment-coded, cable-news-famous Democrats losing to base-energized challengers is the real story of this primary season — or whether the DSA narrative is being overblown. And where does anti-establishment sentiment go from here, on both sides of the aisle? When it comes to foreign policy, there continues to be a lack of cohesion in the Republican party, a problem that Glasser says is likely to persist in the post-Trump era. Trump is now promising "unprecedented" economic warfare against Iran, but there seems to be little end in sight. They also touch on what happens with Ukraine in the absence of the late Senator Lindsey Graham. Plus: the far right fringe and the young men being drawn into it. James Fishback finished a distant third in the Florida Republican gubernatorial primary, but the fact he gained any traction at all is notable. Nick Fuentes described Fishback as what a “proto-groyper president is gonna look, sound and act like.” What does the rise of this movement among young people tell us about the future of the American right? Thu, 20 Aug 2026 - 217 - Will Tucker Carlson Inherit Trump’s GOP?
Get your tickets now for our live show at 92NY: https://www.92ny.org/event/scott-galloway-and-jessica-tarlov Jessica Tarlov is joined by Paul Begala, CNN political contributor and Democratic strategist, for a frank conversation about where the Democratic Party stands, where it's headed, and whether the old guard is really crumbling. They open with the state of the Democratic Party following a primary season that has seen progressive and DSA-backed candidates notch significant wins. Is the moderate establishment losing its grip — and what does AOC's effort to put "Woke 1.0" in the past say about how progressives are repositioning themselves? Then, a deep dive on James Talarico and what his rise says about the Democratic Party's future. Talarico has hired Jacob Smith, a former aide to John Cornyn, as deputy political director. Jesse Watters has been visibly rattled on Fox News by the prospect of Ken Paxton losing. Paul grades Talarico's campaign, breaks down the attack lines flying in both directions — including accusations that Paxton stole pens, and Republican attacks calling Talarico "too loco for Texas" and a vegan — and gives his honest assessment of whether Texas can actually turn blue. Looking ahead to 2028: Tucker Carlson is denying interest in running, but the third party conversation isn't going away. Paul thinks Carlson will run and explains Carlson’s strengths and how he stacks up to other Republican potential candidates.Plus: Jon Ossoff gives a speech about Trump’s negligence but also made a comment about Natalie Harp, one of Trump’s closest aides. She's his executive assistant and has become a fixture in his inner circle, frequently traveling with him and appearing alongside him, and the comment clearly hit a nerve with the White House. Tue, 18 Aug 2026 - 216 - AOC’s Egg-Freezing Story Could Launch Her Presidential Run
Jessica Tarlov is joined by New York Times national political correspondent Shane Goldmacher, to check in on where the midterms stand with primary season almost wrapped up. With the results from Michigan and Wisconsin, Jess and Shane break down what voters are signaling to the Democratic Party. Is this a Tea Party-style insurgency from the left, or something more complicated? Could Michigan Senate candidate and progressive Abdul El-Sayed be a difference maker or a liability in a state Trump won in 2024? Shane also assesses where Republicans stand amidst low approval ratings for Trump, a tough economic backdrop — but with a significant advantage in terms of cash on hand about to be deployed in ad buys across the country. The Democratic Party has officially announced that South Carolina and Nevada will hold the first primaries of the 2028 presidential election cycle — a deliberate move to prioritize Black voters, who make up roughly two-thirds of South Carolina's Democratic electorate, as well as Latino voters and labor interests with significant sway in Nevada. Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has gone public sharing her egg-freezing journey. Shane and Jessica discuss why this kind of personal storytelling resonates with voters — and what AOC's political future might actually look like, whether or not that includes a run for President in 2028. How can she navigate the tension she's likely to face from the Democratic establishment? And finally: White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt is stepping down at the end of the month. Mon, 17 Aug 2026 - 215 - America, Actually: Who Wants Kamala to run again?
Raging Moderates is taking a short break this week, but we’ve got a great episode from Vox’s America, Actually with Astead Herndon. We’ll be back with regular episodes on August 17th. Despite a bruising defeat in the 2024 presidential election, early polling has Kamala Harris ahead of major Democratic alternatives like Gavin Newsom and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez for a 2028 run. Her loyal base says that another White House bid feels like an opportunity to build a real campaign free from the constraints of last time. But there’s a lot of division behind the scenes. This week, Vox’s Astead Herndon travels to a picnic in the crucial primary state of South Carolina to ask voters directly what they think. And then, Astead talks with the prominent Democratic donor John Morgan, who says it’s time to turn the page on the Biden-Harris era entirely. 00:36 Is Kamala Harris running for president (again?)02:20 Democratic insiders make the case for Harris 202805:16 Taking the question to South Carolina voters06:37 Is America ready for a Black woman president?08:56 The generational divide12:25 The “third time’s a charm” perspective18:08 What Democratic donors are thinking24:32 The push for a fresh Democratic bench25:51 Counting the votes from South Carolina This show was edited by Kasia Broussalian, fact-checked by Sarah Schweppe, mixed by Shannon Mahoney, video edited by Christopher Snyder, and hosted by Astead Herndon. Tue, 11 Aug 2026 - 214 - Outsider Candidates vs. The Establishment: Who Can Beat Trumpism?
America has questions — and Scott Galloway and Jessica Tarlov have answers. In this summer mailbag episode, they tackle listener questions about such topics as: the future of the Democratic Party, whether America’s political system can recover from the Trump era, why election fraud claims persist despite a lack of evidence, and what Americans really mean when they talk about socialism and communism. Plus, they discuss the true meaning of socialism, Scott’s ideal night in New York City, and what’s giving them hope in this turbulent political moment. Mon, 10 Aug 2026 - 213 - Blanche Gets Through Committee as Michigan's Senate Primary Goes to the Polls
Get your tickets now for our live show at 92NY: https://www.92ny.org/event/scott-galloway-and-jessica-tarlov Jessica’s new book I Disagree: Winning Arguments Without Losing Friends will be on sale everywhere September 15th. For more info and to pre-order: https://sites.prh.com/idisagree Scott Galloway and Jessica Tarlov break down a packed Tuesday, starting with the Senate Judiciary Committee vote advancing Todd Blanche's Attorney General confirmation. Senators Cornyn and Tillis issued a joint statement thanking Blanche for terminating the anti-weaponization fund and limiting Trump's IRS audit deal — but critics are flagging loopholes in the written agreements, and Democrats were vocal in their objections during today's hearing. Scott and Jessica ask what Cornyn and Tillis actually achieved, why they ultimately caved, and what Trump's growing involvement in the DOJ means for the department's long-term independence. Meanwhile, Jeanine Pirro met with Trump at the White House yesterday after he publicly said she "choked" in her handling of the reflecting pool vandalism case. She was seen leaving with a box and a briefcase. Trump is claiming she was pressured by a judge — but what does it say about DOJ independence when a federal prosecutor the president handpicked can be publicly humiliated and apparently removed for a decision she made on the merits? It's Michigan primary day — and the Senate race has become the proxy war of the 2026 cycle. Progressive Abdul El-Sayed, backed by Bernie Sanders and AOC, is favored heavily over establishment pick Haley Stevens, who has Governor Whitmer, Senator Schumer, and outgoing Senator Gary Peters in her corner. Kalshi has El-Sayed's odds of winning at 98%. Scott and Jessica break down what an El-Sayed victory means for the Democratic Party's direction — and for Michigan's chances of flipping the Senate seat in November. The House Ethics Committee is recommending that Representative Chuck Edwards be censured, finding substantial reason to believe he engaged in a pattern of unwanted advances and inappropriate conduct toward two young female staffers. In the context of the Graham Platner scandal and the ongoing allegations against Representative Max Miller, what does this say about accountability across both parties? Tue, 04 Aug 2026 - 212 - Trump Corruption Stories Stack Up as Blanche Gets Back on Track to Confirmation
Scott Galloway and Jessica Tarlov start by debriefing Scott’s appearance on Real Time with Bill Maher, and recapping Maher’s rant against the far-left of the Democratic Party. Then, acting Attorney General Todd Blanche is reportedly back on track toward confirmation, after issuing a notice claiming to rescind the $1.8 billion IRS settlement fund — the so-called “anti-weaponization fund” — and narrowing the scope of IRS audit immunity granted to Trump and his family — satisfying the demands of Senators Cornyn and Tillis. Trump Media & Technology Group — who owns Trump’s social media network Truth Social —has launched a subscription data service giving traders and investors early access to posts from the biggest accounts — including the president's — for up to $100,000 a month. And Capital One Bank has revealed it closed multiple bank accounts belonging to Trump's real estate company in 2021 following a review by its anti-money-laundering team. When does the corruption end, and what's actually being done? U.S. Attorney for D.C. Jeanine Pirro has dropped felony vandalism charges against a former Olympic canoeist after documents revealed the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool damage was actually caused by a contractor's flawed installation. The Commerce Department announced last week its intent to take minority stakes in seven private companies in exchange for federal grant funding under the CHIPS and Science Act, creating over $870 million in incentives for the semiconductor companies involved. RFK Jr. appeared on CNN over the weekend in a heated exchange with Dana Bash over vaccine safety and the early days of COVID. He went on to say he was not responsible for the current measles outbreak, and that he recommends parents vaccinate their children for measles. Scott and Jessica break down whether RFK is using the Fauci diaries to discredit scientists and experts more broadly. And finally: Sen. Bernie Moreno (R-OH) has at last broken his silence, and has publicly called out his former son-in-law, Rep. Max Miller (R-OH), saying that Miller "should not serve in the House" following domestic abuse allegations from Miller’s ex-wife: Moreno's daughter, Emily. Miller responded in a social media livestream denying the allegations and vowing to win re-election. Will there be more Republicans speaking out? Mon, 03 Aug 2026 - 211 - Trump Has No Strategy as the Iran War Widens and Blanche's Confirmation Falls Apart
Scott Galloway is joined by Sarah Longwell, founder and publisher of The Bulwark, and author of the upcoming book How to Eat an Elephant: One Voter at a Time. The U.S. launched strikes against Iran overnight as the war dramatically widened in scope. Meanwhile, top Trump officials reportedly cannot agree on a strategy for moving forward. Sarah breaks down whether we've reached a genuine tipping point toward a broader regional conflict — and whether there's anything Trump could do to win back public support for a war that even many Republicans oppose. In Congress, Todd Blanche’s confirmation is on the brink. A committee vote to advance his nomination as attorney general has been delayed after Sens. John Cornyn (R-TX) and Thom Tillis (R-NC) expressed concerns about Trump's IRS settlement deal — demanding a written guarantee that any audit shield would only cover past tax returns, not future ones. Neither Cornyn nor Tillis is returning to Congress after this term. Sarah weighs in on what it means that lame duck Republicans are the ones displaying even the tiniest bit of backbone. In the federal case against former FBI Director James Comey, which centers around a photo he posted of seashells arranged to spell “86 47,” defense attorneys are seeking dismissal, alleging Trump directed illegal Secret Service surveillance of Comey — with agents reportedly feeding real-time information directly to the president. Republican Congressman Max Miller of Ohio is facing serious domestic abuse allegations from his ex-wife, Emily Moreno — who is also the daughter of Sen. Bernie Moreno (R-OH). In the wake of the Graham Platner scandal on the Democratic side, why aren't Republicans speaking out — and what does that tell us about the differences between the parties on accountability? In Texas, Democratic Senate contender James Talarico has proven to be a strong fundraiser against Trump-backed Republican Ken Paxton — who beat out Senator John Cornyn in the primary earlier this year but has yet to see substantial support from major Republican money committees. What's going on with Republican fundraising in Texas? On the economy: the Federal Reserve has held interest rates steady, but pressure is mounting with inflation remaining above the Fed's 2% target for over five years and U.S. economic growth slowing in the second quarter. Fed Chair Kevin Warsh says the Fed will not hesitate to act. Plus, Scott and Sarah pull back the curtain on both Prof G and The Bulwark's media operations. They talk about challenges they’ve each faced by being in the politics space, share strategies for fostering community, and give some powerful advice for all creators. Thu, 30 Jul 2026 - 210 - Michigan's Senate Primary Could Give Democrats Their Clearest Midterm Message Yet
Scott Galloway and Jessica Tarlov preview Michigan's August 4th Senate primary, starting with last night's televised debate between progressive Abdul El-Sayed and moderate Haley Stevens. Hot topics were: Israel, AIPAC, utility costs, and who would actually focus on Michigan dominated the exchanges. Trump was also in Michigan yesterday, appearing at a General Motors facility to tout his tariffs and their promised benefits for the auto industry — while blaming Biden and Obama for the state's economic struggles. Will his "the economy is great" message land in a state that's felt real manufacturing pain? The Trump administration has asked the Supreme Court to clear the way for a sweeping executive order placing major new restrictions on mail-in voting ahead of the midterms, following a loss in the lower courts. Trump is also pressuring Senate Majority Leader John Thune to pass the SAVE America Act before the August recess, even raising a call to end the filibuster in order to do so. Why is Trump pushing so hard on voting restrictions — and how worried should Americans be about the integrity of the November elections? Day one of Lindsey Graham's funeral services was held today, with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky both in attendance — and both meeting individually with Trump while in Washington. It's Trump and Netanyahu's first face-to-face meeting since the start of the Iran war. Is there any chance this meeting moves the needle on the conflict? Ahead of Dr. Anthony Fauci's subpoenaed testimony before the Senate Homeland Security Committee on Wednesday, Sen. Rand Paul has released over 1,100 pages of Fauci's personal diary. Do these documents tell us anything new about COVID's origins — or just the private thoughts of a health professional whose celebrity was on the rise? Tue, 28 Jul 2026 - 209 - Trump Pauses Iran Strikes as Pete Hegseth’s Pentagon Comes Under Fire
Scott Galloway and Jessica Tarlov open the week with the latest news on Iran: U.S. strikes are on hold, with Trump pausing major escalation amid growing concerns from advisors about diminished air defense munitions stockpiles in the Middle East. U.S. Ambassador to the U.N. Mike Waltz addressed the stockpile issue publicly this week, blaming it on former President Biden. Meanwhile, a separate and deeply troubling story: the Pentagon has quietly lowered its official count of U.S. troops killed in the Iran war on its website. Scott and Jessica break down what to make of that. Also under scrutiny: new reporting reveals that Hegseth's pick to lead the Navy, Admiral Daryl Caudle, was previously the subject of an inspector general investigation — and was represented by an attorney who is currently a special adviser to Hegseth himself. What toll will this culture of corruption wreak on the future of the U.S. military? With less than 100 days until the midterms, Scott and Jessica take stock of where Democrats stand. In Maine, Troy Jackson is now the official Senate nominee, and leads Kalshi markets at 62% to win the seat. But nationally, the DNC is facing ongoing concerns about a cash shortage — even as individuals like Hakeem Jeffries and John Ossoff are raising significant sums. Republicans have circulated a new version of a major cryptocurrency bill — the CLARITY Act — but the sticking point is the ethics clause. The Trump family has made over $2.3 billion through crypto ventures since the start of the second term, and Senate Democrats want a provision addressing that conflict of interest. Will it pass? Finally, the rescheduled White House Correspondents' Dinner was held Friday and Trump used the occasion to go after CNN's Kaitlan Collins. Should this event get cancelled? Mon, 27 Jul 2026 - 208 - Fox News Poll Shows Democrats Leading In the Midterms — Republicans Should Be Very Worried
Jessica Tarlov and Scott Galloway break down the news, starting with the Trump administration's newly announced peaceful nuclear cooperation agreement with Saudi Arabia. They talk about the biggest risks and concerns, how the optics play against the backdrop of the U.S. campaign against Iran, and what it means that Yemen's Houthis have now attacked two Saudi tankers — opening yet another front in an already sprawling conflict. Meanwhile, the House has adopted a $95 billion budget, funding the Iran war while providing money to encourage states to adopt new voting restrictions. The House and Senate still need to agree on a unified resolution before moving to a filibuster-proof reconciliation bill, and the proposal faces much more potential opposition in the Senate. Trump rallied in Georgia last night, targeting Sen. Jon Ossoff and warning of a Democratic “radical left” takeover. Meanwhile, a new Fox News poll shows Democrats leading 59-41 in counties where the 2024 presidential election was close. Scott and Jessica dive into the numbers and ask: are Republicans worried about the depth of the Democratic bench? Plus, the Trump administration is moving to dramatically scale back federal teen pregnancy prevention efforts. Why? And, Scott has been appointed by Gov. Gavin Newsom to serve on the University of California Board of Regents. What will his first order of business be? Thu, 23 Jul 2026 - 207 - Trump’s Trying to Squeeze Canada on Trade AGAIN. Here’s Why it Will Backfire
Scott Galloway and Jessica Tarlov break down a packed Tuesday — and then are joined by Sen. Mark Kelly (D-AZ) for a wide-ranging conversation on the midterms, the Democratic Party's future, and whether he's running for president. But first: in a scramble to keep tariff revenue alive, Trump signed orders imposing 50% tariffs on a range of Canadian goods including wine, cement, and hockey sticks. Scott and Jessica ask why the administration keeps jumping through hoops to impose tariffs, and why Canada — one of America's closest allies — is again the target. Andy Burnham is officially Britain's seventh prime minister in a decade. In his first cabinet meeting, he declared his government would be a "cost of living government," with GDP projected to grow just 0.8% this year. Is this change in leadership good for Britain? Then, Sen. Kelly joins the show on primary day in Arizona — 105 days out from the midterm elections. He breaks down what Trump-endorsed Republicans are running on in his state, and what tonight's results might signal nationally. Kelly has new bipartisan legislation aimed at getting more men into education as teachers, mentors, and volunteers — and makes the case that Democrats need to spend more time on legislation like this rather than national political fights. He also discusses his role as one of the Democrats’ top fundraisers, having raised roughly $25 million and contributed about $10 million to other candidates. Does this signal a presidential run in his future? What would his campaign be about, and how would his wife — former Rep. Gabby Giffords — feel about being in the White House? Tue, 21 Jul 2026 - 206 - Does AOC Have the RIZZ that Trump Used to Build MAGA?
Scott Galloway and Jessica Tarlov open the week by talking about the latest in the still-ongoing conflict with Iran. Over the weekend, a third U.S. service member was killed in the latest strikes — which are affecting many U.S. allies in the region. Is the U.S. is being pulled deeper into a conflict with no visible endgame? New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani is exploring whether he has the authority to arrest Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu if he visits the U.N. General Assembly this fall, citing the International Criminal Court’s warrant against him, charging him with war crimes. Meanwhile, AOC is sounding a lot more like Barack Obama on the campaign trail, at a rally for Senate candidate Abdul El Sayed in Michigan. By shifting from strictly the language of economic populism to a broader message of hope, change, and taking on the political establishment… is this a sign she's laying the groundwork for a 2028 run? Maine Democrats have a new Senate nominee: progressive former state Senate president Troy Jackson will take on Republican Senator Susan Collins in one of the year's biggest battleground races. Kalshi currently has Democrats at 66% to win the seat, and Jackson specifically at 65% to be the one who wins it. And finally: Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey is a box office hit — but it's also a culture war flashpoint. What exactly is MAGA mad about this time? Mon, 20 Jul 2026 - 205 - Trump's Primetime Address, Israel Aid Revolt, and the World Cup's Final Chapter
Scott Galloway and Jessica Tarlov preview President Trump’s primetime address tonight, expected to cover Iran, election integrity, and what one advisor is calling a "potpourri" of topics. Trump himself is promising "really big news." In a major shift on Capitol Hill, over 100 House Democrats voted to end U.S. aid to Israel via an amendment to a State Department funding bill. The measure was defeated 314-104, but the vote — backed by Nancy Pelosi — sends an unmistakable signal about where the Democratic Party is heading on Israel. What's behind the shift, and what does it mean for the midterms? Day two of acting Attorney General Todd Blanche's confirmation hearing features outside witnesses including Epstein survivor Danielle Bensky. Meanwhile, Rep. Thomas Massie and a bipartisan group of Democrats have introduced new legislation, the Epstein Files Transparency Act II, to hold the DOJ accountable for its handling of the case — and JD Vance was caught admitting the quiet part out loud on Joe Rogan. Plus, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth announces testosterone screenings and replacement therapy for military members; New York becomes the first state to ban new hyperscale data center construction; and the cyclosporiasis parasite outbreak has now reached more than 30 states with thousands of cases and dozens of hospitalizations. What is RFK doing about it? Finally: how will this World Cup tournament be remembered — and can America hold onto its halo effect just a little longer? Thu, 16 Jul 2026 - 204 - The Hormuz Blockade is BACK — Here’s What Trump Wants
Scott Galloway and Jessica Tarlov talk about what it means for the Iran war to be back on: Trump has formally notified Congress that fighting has resumed and the U.S. is reinstating a naval blockade of the Strait of Hormuz. What happens next? Will Trump go through with a plan to impose a 20% fee on ships passing through the waterway, or will he back off the toll plan — as he seemed to indicate, later in the day, that he would? Protesters surrounded Senator Susan Collins' office following the fatal ICE shooting of a 26-year-old Colombian man in Maine — a man who was not the target of the agents' arrest warrant, and whose three-year-old daughter was reportedly in the car at the time he was killed. Scott and Jessica talk about the implications of ICE’s unconstitutional tactics, and what they signal more broadly about the damage being done to the relationship between the American people and their government. Tue, 14 Jul 2026 - 203 - Weekend at Bernie's in the Senate? Graham & McConnell Prove We Need Term Limits
Scott Galloway and Jessica Tarlov open the week reflecting on the sudden death of Sen. Lindsey Graham, who died Saturday night following what his office described as a brief and sudden illness. They talk about what he will be most remembered for — and how some of his most consequential hypocrisies could be seen to undermine the legacy of a life devoted to public service. And, what does Graham’s death mean for a Republican Party already navigating serious uncertainty around Mitch McConnell? Scott and Jessica discuss McConnell’s mysterious health situation — which led his office to release a “proof of life” photograph on Sunday of the Senator and his wife in a hospital. Democrats meanwhile have their own Senate crisis. Graham Platner has now formally submitted his paperwork to withdraw from the Maine race following sexual assault allegations. The Maine Democratic Party will hold a convention on July 25th to select his replacement. Will Platner’s base get behind the process? And, will whoever the Democrats nominate to replace him have a chance against many-term Republican incumbent Susan Collins? Mon, 13 Jul 2026 - 202 - What Platner’s Exit Means for the Future of the Democratic Party (ft. Brian Tyler Cohen)
Jessica Tarlov is joined by Brian Tyler Cohen, host of No Lie with Brian Tyler Cohen, and author of the new book The Day After: How to Wield Power in a Post-Trump World. They start with Graham Platner, who is bowing out of the Maine Senate race following a sexual assault allegation after a scandal-ridden campaign. In his exit video, Platner blamed the Democratic political establishment for taking the nomination away from him. How does the Democratic Party move forward in Maine to field a new candidate? The U.S. and Iran have renewed aggression, trading strikes for a second consecutive night, with Trump declaring the three-week-old ceasefire officially "over." Jessica and Biran break down what this means for the administration’s foreign policy, and how recent reactions to spiking oil prices reveal some Republican Party hypocrisies. Then, they discuss the resurgence of ICE operations, which led to the fatal shooting of Lorenzo Salgado Araujo, a Mexican national with four young U.S. citizen children. Does this mean we are heading toward another escalation of enforcement violence like what was seen in Minneapolis? Then, Jessica talks with Brian about his new book, The Day After, and his ideas for the future of the Democratic party. What should “Project 2029” look like? Which parts of the government that Trump has dismantled are the most underappreciated — and where are there opportunities to build something better? Thu, 09 Jul 2026 - 201 - Platner Bombshell Throws Democrats Into Chaos
How can progressives govern effectively in a post-Trump America? Join Jessica Tarlov in conversation with Brian Tyler Cohen on Thursday, 7/9 at 11:45AM. Sign up here: links.profgmedia.com/btclive Jessica Tarlov is joined by The Bulwark’s Sam Stein, and they start in Maine, where Democratic Senate candidate Graham Platner has announced he is taking time to reflect after a rape allegation went public. They discuss the logistics of possibly replacing the scandal-ridden Platner on the ballot — and mention a few possible candidates — while also asking the important question: how could the party vetting process have failed so miserably? Plus: what is the condition of former Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, who has been hospitalized for weeks, with minimal information? Will there be a special election for his seat — and will the recently-primaried Kentuckyan Thomas Massie take an interest? And in Michigan, Mallory McMorrow has dropped out of the Senate race, leaving moderate Haley Stevens — backed by Chuck Schumer — facing off against progressive Dr. Abdul El-Sayed — backed by Bernie Sanders and AOC — in the Democratic primary. Rahm Emanuel is visiting Israel this week and pre-released his speech, signaling shifting sentiment on Israel within the Democratic Party. And finally: Did Trump’s brazen act of intervention with FIFA president Gianni Infantino to overturn a striker’s suspension wind up cursing the U.S. men’s soccer team? Tue, 07 Jul 2026 - 200 - Trump's Election Plot Gets More Dangerous as His World Cup Intervention Leaves Everyone Stunned
Jessica Tarlov is joined by Marc Elias, America's foremost election attorney and founder of Democracy Docket, to talk about the recent Supreme Court term, Trump’s efforts at voter suppression, the throughline of corruption in the administration, and more. First, they discuss Trump's rain-delayed America 250th speech, which he delivered late Saturday night in D.C., after severe thunderstorms forced crowds to shelter in nearby federal buildings. Trump used the moment to push for the passage of the SAVE America Act, a bill he claims would end election fraud — and, saying the quiet part out loud, deliver Republicans 100 years of victories. Marc breaks down what the bill actually does, and why Trump is still pushing it hard enough to torpedo the housing bill in its favor. Then, Marc reflects on two Supreme Court cases that he helped litigate — he scored a significant victory in Watson v. RNC — a case to determine the legality of certain mail-in ballots. But the Court’s ruling in NRSC v. FEC, which struck down coordination limits between political parties and campaigns, is a major blow. Why did this Supreme Court so readily overturn precedent in this case? Marc gives his thoughts about potential reforms needed to safeguard the legitimacy of the Supreme Court as an institution. And, the confusion about the health of Senator Mitch McConnell, coming so soon after the monthslong disappearance (and sudden reemergence) of Rep. Thomas Kean, leads Jessica and Marc to talk about how to better “keep track” of members of Congress. Finally, Trump claims he personally lobbied FIFA president Gianni Infantino to intervene in the automatic red card suspension for U.S. striker Folarin Balogun, clearing him to play against Belgium in today's World Cup last-16 match. What is the appropriate patriotic response to this intervention? Tue, 07 Jul 2026 - 199 - After 250 Years, Trump is Killing the American Dream
Got a question for Scott or Jessica? We're putting together a summer mailbag episode — send a short voice recording with your question to ragingmoderates@profgmedia.com. We may feature yours on the show! Scott Galloway and Jessica Tarlov celebrate America's 250th birthday… but the mood is complicated. The U.S. economy added just 57,000 jobs in June while inflation continues to outpace wages, and July 4th revelers on the National Mall are facing 100-degree heat with coolers and folding chairs banned. Despite a 6-3 Supreme Court ruling striking down his executive order on birthright citizenship, Trump is already calling on Congress to finish what the Court wouldn't let him start. Meanwhile, MAGA voices seem dedicated to finding obscure ways to implement the anti-immigrant plan anyway, with VP Vance calling the SCOTUS decision "preposterous." Trump also announced that he will not be renewing the USMCA trade pact, the very deal he signed with Canada and Mexico in 2018. What does scrapping it mean for North American trade stability, and what does it tell us about how Trump thinks about his own legacy? Meanwhile, OpenAI is reportedly proposing that the U.S. government take a 5% stake in in the company, which has recently delayed its plans to IPO, while Palantir CEO Alex Karp is publicly arguing that the expensive frontier models from OpenAI and Anthropic are already becoming too expensive for many companies using them. Plus, in honor of America's birthday and Canadian patriotism — which is apparently surging, thanks to Trump — we wish you all a belated Happy Canada Day! Got a question for Scott or Jessica? We're putting together a summer mailbag episode — send a short voice recording with your question to ragingmoderates@profgmedia.com. Jessica Tarlov and Scott Galloway break down the Supreme Court's final decision day of the term, including the long-awaited ruling on Trump's executive order to end birthright citizenship, plus decisions on transgender athletes and campaign finance coordination limits between parties and campaigns. Then, they head west: Colorado's state Supreme Court just struck down a set of Democratic-backed ballot initiatives that would have paused the state's independent redistricting commission. Today, Colorado holds primaries where several Democratic incumbents face challenges from their left flank, echoing the dynamics seen in New York's recent primary. Jess and Scott also check in on the current status of Democrats across the country in this year’s midterms. Plus, thoughts on America's 250th birthday week, the sparsely attended “Great American State Fair” celebration so far, and reports that the White House may issue 250 pardons to mark the occasion. And finally, Scott and Jessica talk about the biggest and most urgent foreign policy story of the day: the World Cup. Will Team Sweden triumph over the French? Scott lays it all on the line. Jessica Tarlov and Scott Galloway break down the latest escalation in Iran, and whether the Trump administration still has a coherent strategy in the Middle East with a ceasefire that is rapidly breaking down. Next, they unpack the major decisions coming out of the Supreme Court, including cases around mail-in ballots, the Temporary Protection Status of over 300,000 Haitians, and two opinions that further expand Trump’s authority to dismiss federal regulators (not including the Federal Reserve board of governors, apparently). Plus, Scott and Jessica talk about Zohran Mamdani’s meteoric rise in the Democratic party, and his latest political win — a rent freeze for the rent-controlled apartments in New York City. What can we learn from the success of three DSA-affiliated and Mamdani-backed candidates in Congressional primaries? With antisemitism on the rise, and Democratic lawmakers facing threats and public confrontations, is Zohran’s politics putting more fuel on the fire? And, Scott and Jessica reflect on the career of Bill Maher, who received the Mark Twain Prize for American Humor. Tue, 30 Jun 2026 - 196 - What Trump Really Thinks About His Legacy (ft. Jonathan Swan and Maggie Haberman)
Got a question for Scott or Jessica? We're putting together a summer mailbag episode — send a short voice recording with your question to ragingmoderates@profgmedia.com. We may feature yours on the show! Jessica Tarlov is joined by reporters Jonathan Swan and Maggie Haberman, authors of the brand new explosive book Regime Change: Inside the Imperial Presidency of Donald Trump. They talk about what it is really like inside the Trump White House, the unprecedented ways in which Trump wields presidential power, and how their monumental yearslong investigative reporting effort led to this exposé full of shocking, never-before-reported stories. They begin with Jonathan and Maggie’s reporting on the start of the Iran war, and the unbelievable confrontation that took place in the White House Situation Room that immediately splintered Trump’s cabinet. They dive into the Epstein saga, and what the administration’s crisis management meetings were like behind the scenes — including the abandoned effort by the DOJ to release their own Epstein files database. That never made it out into the world, due to some of the contents being about Trump himself.Plus: Jonathan Maggie talk about how they determined who and what to believe when members of the administration started turning on each other. How loyal are his supposedly loyal aides? Will Trump really leave office in 2029, or is he building a fortified bunker underneath the new ballroom? And, given the changing role of print journalism in the age of TikTok and political influencers, what will the media landscape — and politics in America — even look like… post-Trump? Thu, 25 Jun 2026 - 195 - Did Trump Ruin the American Experiment? (ft. Sharon McMahon)
Get your tickets now for our live show at 92NY: https://www.92ny.org/event/scott-galloway-and-jessica-tarlov Jessica Tarlov is joined by America’s government teacher Sharon McMahon (https://instagram.com/sharonsaysso) — author of We Are Mighty and the woman behind the The Preamble on Substack— for a check-in on the American experiment. First, the Trump administration says progress is being made in negotiations with Iran, but Tehran is already pushing back on key claims made by Vice President JD Vance. After tensions flared again in the Strait of Hormuz, questions persist about whether the Trump administration secured a lasting agreement, or simply handed Iran new leverage. Jessica and Sharon also discuss Zohran Mamdani's growing influence in New York politics, and the rise of democratic socialist candidates in major cities across America. In one Congressional race, Mayor Mamdani detached himself from the allies of Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, and from longtime incumbents, to endorse a controversial candidate whose past views have come under fire. Will this widen the divide within the Democratic Party? Plus: explosive new reporting has exposed former DNI Tulsi Gabbard’s affiliation with a strange religious group — which many former members have called a cult. Sharon and Jessica talk about the insidious influence of religious groups on our elected officials — such as the overt Christian nationalism of Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth. Finally, they discuss what America's 250th birthday celebration should really represent, and why Sharon believes that in order to come back from Trump, we all must decide that the era of "not knowing" is over. Tue, 23 Jun 2026 - 194 - Why JD Vance Became the Face of Trump’s Iran Surrender
Get your tickets now for our live show at 92NY: https://www.92ny.org/event/scott-galloway-and-jessica-tarlov Jessica Tarlov and Scott Galloway break down the latest updates in the negotiations between Iran and the United States, with Vice President JD Vance at the helm. After Iran once again threatened to close off shipping through the Strait of Hormuz, and President Trump responded with threats of renewed military action, Vance says Tehran has agreed to allow nuclear inspectors into the country. Is this a genuine breakthrough — or just another fragile pause in a conflict that refuses to end? They also discuss the resignation of Keir Starmer, Britain’s Labour prime minister, which came auspiciously at the ten-year anniversary of the Brexit referendum. Then, Jessica and Scott discuss the revelations and questions surrounding Senator Ruben Gallego, who is alleged to have used PAC funds for personal use. And, as the Obama Presidential Center opens in Chicago to great ceremony, Scott and Jessica offer their reflections on Barack Obama’s legacy, Michelle Obama’s skills as an orator, and Scott reveals who’s on his fantasy “future spouse” shortlist. Mon, 22 Jun 2026 - 193 - Trump Signs Iran “Deal” — and GOP Hawks Absolutely Hate It
Get your tickets now for our live show at 92NY: https://www.92ny.org/event/scott-galloway-and-jessica-tarlov Jessica Tarlov and Scott Galloway dive into the newly released details about the “memorandum of understanding” that President Trump has signed with Iran, purportedly ending the monthslong conflict, and launching a new chapter in U.S.-Iran relations. The agreement includes at least $300 billion in funding for Iran's reconstruction and economic development, a reopening of trade and shipping routes, and a framework for future negotiations. But major questions remain. The deal does not address Iran's ballistic missile program, its conventional military forces, or the broader regional tensions involving Israel and Hezbollah. Scott and Jessica break down what's actually in the deal, why Iran ultimately agreed to it, what it means for Israel and America's allies, and whether this will be a lasting peace or simply a temporary pause in the fighting. Plus: new Federal Reserve Chair Kevin Warsh's first major policy meeting took place, with some noteworthy differences from his predecessor Jerome Powell. Are interest rate hikes still on the table? And finally, both Scott and Jessica have a case of World Cup fever. They talk about reporting that fans of Scotland have taken over Boston and depleted some of the city’s most important natural resources. Thu, 18 Jun 2026 - 192 - Trump Loses the Iran War, Weakens America — as Newsom and Vance Make 2028 Moves
Get your tickets now for our live show at 92NY: https://www.92ny.org/event/scott-galloway-and-jessica-tarlov Scott Galloway and Jessica Tarlov break down the latest developments and revelations about the Iran deal, as Tehran publicly confirms key details, sending Iran hawks spiraling. The agreement would end military operations, reopen critical trade routes, and lift the naval blockade. But there are major absences when it comes to controlling Iran’s nuclear development and enrichment programs — which was a principal justification for the war in the first place. Also, given that the deal reportedly both ends U.S. sanctions and pledges hundreds of billions of dollars toward rebuilding Iran… is this an even WORSE deal than Obama’s JCPOA, which Trump often calls “terrible”? Plus, California Governor Gavin Newsom, one of the leading Democratic contenders for 2028, publicly announced that both he and his wife are under investigation by Trump’s DOJ. According to Newsom, he and his family have been visited by federal investigators, who he claims are searching for a crime. Also: Vice President JD Vance continues to try and shape his post-Trump identity, as he kicks off a media tour publicizing his new book about his faith journey as a convert to Catholicism. And, the United Kingdom moves closer to banning social media for children under 16. Is this a good move — or are the problems facing young people today far bigger than just the algorithms? Tue, 16 Jun 2026 - 191 - Trump’s Big Iran Announcement Raises More Questions Than Answers (ft. Ian Bremmer)
Get your ticket for our live show at 92NY: https://www.92ny.org/event/scott-galloway-and-jessica-tarlov After more than 100 days of war, President Trump says the U.S. and Iran have reached a ceasefire agreement. But major questions remain unanswered. Iran has yet to fully confirm the deal, the future of Tehran’s nuclear program is unresolved, and regional tensions involving Israel and Hezbollah are still simmering. In fact, Trump says the full text of the agreement won’t be released until Friday. Scott Galloway, Jessica Tarlov, and special guest Ian Bremmer break down what the next 60 days could look like. They discuss whether this agreement has any realistic chance of holding, and who stands to benefit politically if negotiations succeed — or collapse. They also discuss what Trump’s announcement means heading into the G7 summit in France, and why the Strait of Hormuz remains one of the most important pressure points in the global economy. Plus: Trump celebrates his 80th birthday by hosting a UFC event on the White House lawn, which is not a sentence that would have made any sense even a very short time ago in America’s 250-year history. Jessica and Scott discuss the cultural significance of this event — and a shocking remark made by one of the participants. When looked at alongside the recent allegations against Graham Platner — the Democratic nominee for Senate in Maine — what does this spectacle say about Democrats’ and Republicans’ divergent views of masculinity? Mon, 15 Jun 2026 - 190 - Trump’s Iran Crisis Just Took a Dangerous Turn as Markets Brace for Impact
In the wake of Game 4 of the NBA Finals, which saw the New York Knicks mount the largest comeback in Finals history to win the game, Jessica Tarlov gives Scott Galloway an update on Knicks fever from the streets of New York City. Then, Scott and Jessica talk about how the fragile ceasefire between the U.S. and Iran is showing signs of collapse after yet another round of attacks. President Trump is now threatening to hit Iran “VERY HARD TONIGHT.” At the same time, Americans are feeling the economic impact at home. Inflation rose 4.2% in May — the highest monthly increase in three years — and that’s on top of gas prices and summer travel costs surging as the Iran conflict drags on. Scott and Jessica also discuss what is poised to be the biggest IPO in history as SpaceX prepares to go public — potentially creating thousands of new millionaires overnight. But is this IPO actually just a way to leave retail investors holding the bag? Plus: Bill Gates testifies about Jeffrey Epstein before Congress — but behind closed doors — as new reporting reveals the panic over the Epstein files release inside Trump’s White House, and the pressures the administration felt from the MAGA base. The Trump administration also proposes new restrictions tied to mail-in voting and the U.S. Postal Service, setting up another massive legal and political fight ahead of the midterms. Finally, they discuss the World Cup — which begins this week at venues across North America, including in the U.S., where tensions have already arisen between the many international visitors to the country, and the Trump administration’s hardline approach to foreigners. Thu, 11 Jun 2026 - 189 - Trump Gets Booed at MSG as Republicans Push Extreme Immigration Agenda
Scott Galloway and Jessica Tarlov respond to Trump getting loudly booed at the NBA Finals in New York City, before diving into the much bigger political and economic fights shaping the 2026 midterms. A federal judge has blocked Trump’s controversial $100,000 H-1B visa fee, dealing a major blow to one piece of the administration’s broader immigration crackdown. Meanwhile, Democrats are trying to focus voters on affordability heading into the midterms, with House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries promising economic relief as a top priority if Democrats regain power. But will the Democrats have enough of a substantive plan to really address the needs of working people, and shake their party’s reputation as ineffective? Rather than taking on the cost of living crisis, Republicans appear to be moving in a very different direction. Greg Bovino, Trump’s former commander-at-large of the Border Patrol, is openly considering a 2028 presidential run centered around mass deportations and aggressive nationalist rhetoric. Plus: a lawsuit seeks to block Trump’s planned UFC event on the White House lawn ahead of his 80th birthday. And a Forbes report has revealed that Silicon Valley elites are paying enormous sums not just for escorts, but for companions to discuss AI, crypto, and biohacking with them. What does that say about loneliness, technology, and the wealthy cohort of socially stunted men aiming to shape our future? Tue, 09 Jun 2026 - 188 - Trump's “Little Excursion" in Iran Becomes a 100-Day Disaster
Scott Galloway and Jessica Tarlov break down the latest on the Iran war, 100 days after the start of the conflict, and as Israel and Iran trade attacks. They also react to Trump’s tense appearance on Meet the Press, which saw the President abruptly end the interview and storm off when he was faced with questions about whether there was any evidence for “rigged elections” — after he attempted to downplay the growing instability in the Middle East. Meanwhile, economic anxiety is growing back home as Wall Street reacts to mounting uncertainty in the AI and semiconductor industries. Markets are down amidst growing fears that the AI bubble is getting ready to pop… just as companies like OpenAI, Anthropic, and SpaceX move closer toward potentially massive IPOs. Trump may meet with tech executives to discuss whether the U.S. government should take ownership stakes in strategically important AI companies. Trump says he’s partially aligned with Sen. Bernie Sanders, who has put forward a competing proposal for a public AI wealth fund. Plus: Scott and Jessica talk through the latest scandals and increased scrutiny over presumptive Democratic Maine Senate nominee Graham Platner, whose alleged mistreatment of women he’d dated in the past has raised a new raft of questions about his suitability for office. And finally, some updates in the races for California governor and mayor of Los Angeles — where the latest polls show that insurgent candidate Spencer Pratt has taken a dip. Mon, 08 Jun 2026 - 187 - A Rare Republican Break With Trump Raises New Questions
Scott Galloway and Jessica Tarlov break down the latest developments from Congress, as the House advanced a War Powers measure designed to limit Donald Trump’s authority in the region. Most notably, four Republicans broke ranks to support the resolution — raising new questions about whether cracks are finally beginning to emerge inside the GOP. They also unpack the broader political implications of this week’s primary results across Iowa, California, and beyond. Then, they analyze a strange appearance before Congress by Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, where some past brawls are remembered. Back in Washington, Trump plans to permanently nominate Todd Blanche as attorney general after Blanche aggressively pursued Trump’s enemies and his agenda while serving as his private personal attorney, and during his time as acting attorney general since Pam Bondi’s departure. Plus: there is controversy surrounding Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner’s $1.4 billion luxury resort project in Albania. And, a new study finds highly educated American fathers are spending significantly more time on childcare and housework while reducing hours spent at paid jobs — pointing to major shifts in work, family life, and the meaning of masculinity. Thu, 04 Jun 2026 - 186 - The Hidden Costs of Trump’s Hollowed-Out Foreign Policy
Scott Galloway and Jessica Tarlov break down the latest developments in the Iran negotiations, after reports emerged that Tehran may be opening “other fronts” in response to alleged ceasefire violations by the U.S. and Israel. President Trump is reportedly growing frustrated with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, and Secretary of State Marco Rubio faces Congress for the first time since the war began. Meanwhile, Trump has named businessman Bill Pulte as the acting Director of National Intelligence, following Tulsi Gabbard’s departure. This comes despite the 38-year-old former chair of federal mortgage lenders Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac having no national security experience. Scott and Jessica talk about this as a bellwether for the state of Trumpism and its grip on the country’s institutions. Plus: frustrations with Democratic Party leadership continue bubbling up in Iowa, as the state holds an important primary for its Senate and governor races today. Scott and Jessica also preview how the primaries in California, New Jersey, and Montana might go. Finally, AI company Anthropic preps to go public, and, in the wake of two mass shootings at universities in the state this past April, Florida’s attorney general launches a lawsuit against OpenAI, following allegations that ChatGPT played a role in guiding the perpetrators. Tue, 02 Jun 2026 - 185 - Trump’s Dumb Midterms Strategy and Platner’s Sexting Scandal
Scott Galloway and Jessica Tarlov take a high-level look at the 2026 landscape as Republicans continue centering their messaging almost entirely around Donald Trump. Scott and Jessica examine whether the GOP has developed any coherent platform beyond Trump himself — and whether voters may finally be tiring of the constant culture-war politics and personal attacks. And, as California heads into a major statewide primary election featuring hotly contested races for Gavin Newsom’s successor governor, and for Los Angeles mayor — where former reality star Spencer Pratt has had a surprisingly high appeal with voters. Meanwhile, Graham Platner — the presumptive Democratic nominee for Senate from Maine, who’ll be vying to beat Susan Collins this November— faces more scrutiny, after reports surfaced that he sent explicit texts to other women early in his marriage. Scott and Jessica debate whether political scandals still matter in modern campaigns — or whether voters are more willing than ever to write off “purity tests.” They also unpack growing tension between Donald Trump and Vice President JD Vance amid reports Trump privately doubts Vance’s political strength and future as a MAGA successor. Does Marco Rubio really have what it takes to inherit the MAGA movement? And finally, Bernie Sanders goes viral for giving dating advice to young people in the age of screens and social media. Mon, 01 Jun 2026 - 184 - Trump Cornered On Iran, Newsom Pushes Back on Slush Fund
Scott Galloway and Jessica Tarlov break down the latest news coming from the White House about the Iran negotiations. Trump’s bold remarks during yesterday’s Cabinet meeting seemed to suggest that a deal was imminent, but recent airstrikes and the lack of agreed-upon terms tell a different story. While the administration insists diplomacy is still alive, mixed messaging continues around the ceasefire, sanctions, and Iran’s nuclear program. Back home, Governor Gavin Newsom (D-CA) says he’s prepared to fight Trump’s controversial $1.8B taxpayer-funded “Anti-Weaponization Fund” for January 6 defendants, while former judges and Capitol Police officers continue mounting legal challenges against it. Scott and Jessica also look at the increasingly heated Texas Senate race, where Democrat James Talarico is embracing the attacks from coming from Trump-backed Republican nominee Ken Paxton, and turning them into campaign merchandise. Meanwhile, Joe Biden is suing the Department of Justice to block the release of recordings tied to the confidential documents investigation led by special counsel Robert Hur. And Jill Biden revisits concerns about the president’s disastrous debate performance and health during the 2024 campaign. Plus: as the Trump administration prepares to host a UFC event at the White House as part of America’s 250th anniversary celebrations, a massive octagon has begun to be constructed on the South Lawn. Is this a mark of the crass spectacle that America has become? Or a shrewd play for a difficult-to-reach slice of the electorate? Thu, 28 May 2026 - 183 - Trump Has “No Cards” in Iran as Deal Collapses and U.S. Continues Strikes
Scott Galloway and Jessica Tarlov break down the latest developments in the fragile Iran negotiations, with Secretary of State Marco Rubio delivering an encouraging, but confusing, update. They discuss reports that the Trump administration is pursuing a framework involving a ceasefire extension, reopening the Strait of Hormuz, renewed Iranian oil sales, and separate talks over the fate of Tehran’s nuclear program. Back home, Senator Andy Kim (D-NJ) says he was pepper sprayed by federal agents during a protest outside an ICE detention facility in New Jersey, where detainees are reportedly on hunger strike over poor conditions and lack of medical care. Scott and Jessica check in on the latest public clash between ICE and protesters. Plus: In his much publicized first encyclical, Pope Leo XIV issued a stark warning against AI, urging that the technology shouldn’t be concentrated in the hands of the wealthy few, should not be considered morally neutral, and warning that it could create “new forms of slavery.” How does this square with the latest thinking on Wall Street, and in Silicon Valley? Tue, 26 May 2026 - 182 - Stephen Colbert Signs Off as Trump’s Revenge Tour Crushes GOP Critics
Scott Galloway and Jessica Tarlov break down a major election week for Trump-backed GOP primary candidates, including a high-profile win in Kentucky where incumbent Rep. Thomas Massie was defeated. Massie was the de facto leader of the small faction of congressional Republicans who fought for the release of the Epstein Files. They also preview the next major showdown in Texas, where a high-stakes runoff in the GOP Senate primary could further cement Trump’s influence over Republican politics if Ken Paxton defeats incumbent senator John Cornyn, who’s served in the Senate since 2002. Paxton — the once-indicted former state attorney general — recently received Trump’s endorsement. Meanwhile, Democrats release their long-awaited 2024 “autopsy” report, after months of internal debate and delay. The document was meant to provide insights in detail about what went wrong for the party in the last presidential election, but, as DNC chair Ken Martin himself admitted, the document itself does not meet his standards. What happened? Plus: Harvard moves to crack down on grade inflation amid concerns about academic standards, prompting Scott and Jess to wonder if the brands of elite colleges and universities are still as valuable as they once were. And then: Stephen Colbert signs off from The Late Show marking the end of an era in late-night television, and Jeff Bezos sparks debate after his remarks on CNBC about taxes and the economy. And finally, the political world reflects on the legacy of Barney Frank, the pioneering congressman, LGBTQ+ trailblazer, and architect of major financial reform. Thu, 21 May 2026 - 181 - Trump’s MAGA Loyalty Test Heads to the Ballot Box
Scott Galloway and Jessica Tarlov break down the controversy surrounding Trump’s settlement with the IRS and the creation of a fund critics are already calling a political slush fund. With the attorney general set to oversee who receives compensation, major questions are emerging about whether taxpayer money could effectively become a reward system for political allies and January 6 defendants. They also unpack a massive primary night across the country, including Congressman Thomas Massie’s high-stakes battle against a Trump-backed challenger in what has become the most expensive House primary in American history. Plus: lawmakers begin sounding the alarm about AI chatbots spreading election misinformation, raising new concerns about how voters will navigate truth, trust, and political persuasion in the age of artificial intelligence. They also discuss the tragic shooting outside a mosque in San Diego being investigated as a hate crime, and why podcasts may be killing off the era of the traditional “dad book.” For ad-free episodes, exclusive livestreams, and to connect with Scott, Jessica, and the Raging Moderates community, join us at ProfG+ on Substack: https://ragingmoderates.profgmedia.com/ Get The Monday Rage newsletter: https://profgmedia.com/s/monday-rage/ Follow Raging Moderates on IG, Tiktok, and Facebook: https://www.instagram.com/ragingmoderatespod/ https://www.tiktok.com/@ragingmoderates https://www.facebook.com/people/Raging-Moderates/61586910127414/ Follow Jessica Tarlov on Instagram, Substack, and Bluesky: https://instagram.com/jessicatarlov https://substack.com/@jessietarlov https://bsky.app/profile/jessicatarlov.bsky.social Follow Scott on Instagram, Substack, and Bluesky: https://instagram.com/profgalloway https://substack.com/@profgalloway https://bsky.app/profile/profgalloway.com Subscribe to our YouTube Channel: https://www.youtube.com/@RagingModerates Learn more about your ad choices. Tue, 19 May 2026 - 180 - Trump Cashes in on Thousands of Stock Trades While Americans Get Crushed
Scott Galloway and Jessica Tarlov break down explosive new ethics filings showing that President Trump made thousands of stock trades during the first quarter of 2026, with transactions totaling hundreds of millions of dollars. While the White House insists the trades were handled through trusts and third parties, the revelations arrive alongside reports that Trump has secured a massive $1.8B fund from his own DOJ to be distributed to allies or supporters who were investigated during the Biden years. Scott and Jess also unpack growing speculation that the administration could be laying the groundwork for a future military operation in Cuba, following new sanctions and eyebrow-raising intelligence claims involving military drones. Plus: Senator Bill Cassidy became the first Republican senator in nearly a decade to lose a bid for renomination, after voting to convict Trump in his second impeachment trial. They discuss how this outcome reinforces the Trump-centrism of the Republican party, and the political risks of dissent in today’s GOP. They also dive into the increasingly bizarre Los Angeles mayoral race, where reality TV personality Spencer Pratt is gaining traction. What does his rise reveal about voter frustration, celebrity politics, and governance in the state of California? And finally: Gen Z graduates are openly booing tech executives promoting artificial intelligence in their commencement speeches. Does it mean that Gen Z is fed up with AI? Or are the boos a reaction to the generational anxiety about automation, income inequality, and the future of work? Join ProfG+ (https://profgmedia.com) for exclusive access to a livestream with the latest analysis of the Trump/Xi summit. Hosted by Alice Han and James Kynge of the China Decode podcast, and featuring guest expert Kevin Xu of Interconnected Capital. It’s on Friday, May 15th at 10:00AM ET — click here: https://links.profgmedia.com/cd-livestream Scott Galloway and Jessica Tarlov break down Trump’s momentous trip to China, where discussions are taking place between the U.S. delegation and China’s, led by President Xi Jinping. The summit’s agenda was full — with trade, artificial intelligence, Taiwan, and the war in Iran dominating the meetings. While the summit featured warm rhetoric and symbolic pageantry, Xi also issued a stark warning about Taiwan, raising new questions about whether the U.S. and China are moving toward deeper cooperation, or a more dangerous confrontation. Back home, the economic fallout from the Iran conflict continues to intensify. Inflation has climbed to its highest level in three years, driven in large part by rising energy costs, as Americans increasingly feel the pressure from higher gas prices and a weakening economic outlook. Plus: the Senate confirms Trump’s new Federal Reserve chair, potentially reshaping interest-rate policy at a moment of growing uncertainty. Thu, 14 May 2026 - 178 - Trump Accelerates Superpower Decline as XI Plays the Long Game (ft. Sarah Longwell)
Scott Galloway and Sarah Longwell of The Bulwark break down Trump’s first visit to China since 2017, where discussions over trade, artificial intelligence, Taiwan, and rare earth exports are expected to dominate the agenda. But looming over the entire trip is the increasingly fragile ceasefire with Iran, rising instability in the Persian Gulf, and growing economic pressure at home as gas prices surge nationwide. They unpack what leverage each side actually has going into the summit, why major tech CEOs are joining Trump’s delegation, and whether the administration’s strategy is focused more on geopolitics, economics, or projecting strength ahead of the election cycle. Plus: the early battle for the post-Trump future of the Republican Party is heating up, as JD Vance and Marco Rubio emerge as leading contenders for the MAGA mantle. Sarah shares insights from recent focus groups about who Republican voters are gravitating toward — and whether they want a new Trump, or something entirely different. And, they talk about the Democrats’ strategy heading into the midterm elections, and looking ahead toward possible candidates for president in 2028. Does the growing buzz around Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez mean the momentum will be with her, or another progressive upstart in the mold of Bernie Sanders? Or do the Dems need to rally behind a middle-of-the-road moderate in order to take back the White House? Tue, 12 May 2026 - 177 - Trump Rejects Iran’s Offer as Democrats Hit With Devastating Redistricting Blow Ahead of Midterms
Scott Galloway and Jessica Tarlov break down Iran’s latest proposal to reopen the Strait of Hormuz and temporarily suspend uranium enrichment in exchange for sanctions relief — even after it was deemed “unacceptable” by President Trump, and while Benjamin Netanyahu appeared on 60 Minutes to make it clear that Israel has little interest in a deal that leaves Iran’s nuclear infrastructure intact. With oil prices falling and markets rallying, one major question remains: is economic pressure finally forcing Tehran toward accepting a resolution — or is this simply a pause before further escalation? Back in the U.S., the political chaos continues. After the Virginia Supreme Court invalidated the voter-approved Congressional map, the Democrats’ endeavor to match the Republican redistricting efforts got some new complications. Now, Republicans appear to be gaining ground in the nationwide gerrymandering wars ahead of the midterms. As legal options narrow and SCOTUS weakens the protections to majority-minority districts once offered by the Voting Rights Act, Democrats are left asking whether their “fight fire with fire” strategy backfired. Plus: MAGA world erupts into conspiracy mode over a routine Obama photo-op, the Pentagon releases decades of declassified UFO files, and fears around a hantavirus outbreak reignite debate over whether America is politically prepared for the next major pandemic. Mon, 11 May 2026 - 176 - Is Trump the GOP’s Greatest Asset — or Biggest Liability?
Scott Galloway and Jessica Tarlov break down a week defined by confusion, escalation, and political loyalty tests. As mixed messages pour out of Washington and Tehran, Trump threatens further action against Iran even as officials insist tensions are cooling — leaving allies, markets, and the world searching for clarity. Back at home, a judge has unsealed what a former cellmate has alleged is Jeffrey Epstein’s suicide note. Its release comes at a time when Secretary Howard Lutnick is giving closed-door testimony to the House Oversight Committee on his ties to Epstein. All this is enough to reignite Epstein scrutiny around Trump allies. Meanwhile, in the ongoing redistricting wars, the Republican voters in Indiana sent a stark warning to anyone willing to cross Trump ahead of 2026. Scott and Jessica unpack the significance of last night’s election. The duo also speak on the FBI raid involving Virginia power broker and state senator Louise Lucas, Marco Rubio’s Vatican cleanup mission, and Barack Obama’s sharp appearance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, where the former president warned Democrats to stop sounding like they’re in a “college seminar.” Plus: remembering Ted Turner and the media legacy that changed American politics forever. Thu, 07 May 2026 - 175 - Trump and Hegseth Spout Lies and Contradictions on Iran
Scott Galloway and Jessica Tarlov break down the latest developments in Iran, where confusion continues to swirl around a fragile ceasefire. With renewed tensions in the Strait of Hormuz and mixed signals coming out of Washington, the situation remains volatile and increasingly difficult to read. Then they discuss the efforts by the Republicans to get Pennsylvania Senator John Fetterman to switch parties, raising questions about the precarious balance of power in the Senate. At the same time, fractures within MAGA world continue to bubble up, as former Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene made some new public claims about Trump and the Epstein files. Plus, the White House appears to be reconsidering its long-held resistance to regulating AI — does this signal a potential policy shift, or have tech industry players continued their capture of DC? And finally, the Met Gala’s record-breaking year reflects a broader cultural power shift — now fueled less by traditional fashion houses and more by Silicon Valley billionaires. Wed, 06 May 2026 - 174 - Trump’s “Project Freedom” Shows His Awful Negotiation Skills
With Tehran threatening to target ships in the Strait of Hormuz and the U.S. ramping up its response, is the Iran conflict entering a dangerous new phase — with no clear off-ramp? Scott Galloway and Jessica Tarlov break down the latest escalations, as oil prices surge and gas prices climb nearly 50% since the start of the war. With the Trump administration fast-tracking billions in arms sales, and launching “Project Freedom” to guide vessels through the region, one key question looms: is this deterrence — or the beginning of something much bigger? They also unpack the political fallout at home, where new polling shows rising disapproval of Trump’s leadership, particularly on inflation and the cost of living. As support softens even among segments of his base, is the conflict abroad starting to erode his position domestically? Plus: a major new legal battle over access to abortion medication could reshape care nationwide, as courts weigh restrictions on mifepristone. Scott and Jess react to the growing buzz around Tucker Carlson’s political future as the GOP fractures deepen, and Kash Patel gets the SNL treatment. Mon, 04 May 2026 - 173 - Trump Triggers Redistricting Chaos as GOP Pushes Power Grab Nationwide
Jessica Tarlov and Aaron Parnas break down the battle to redraw congressional districts, as Republican-led states like Louisiana move quickly to implement new maps ahead of the midterms — while Democrats signal they’re ready to retaliate in states like Illinois, Colorado, and New York. With primaries just weeks away in some states, one key question looms: is this a strategic power play, or a logistical and legal mess waiting to unfold? Plus: new concerns about federal involvement in election data, as the DOJ seeks access to ballots and voter rolls in key states. Jess and Aaron also unpack the end of the record-setting 75-day DHS shutdown, which exposed growing fractures within the Republican party. Did Jeffrey Epstein leave a suicide note, and has it been kept from the public? New reporting — and a lawsuit — seeks to uncover the truth. Fri, 01 May 2026 - 172 - As the War Nears Its Legal Limit, Trump Pushes Presidential Power Further
Scott Galloway and Jessica Tarlov break down a rapidly escalating moment at home and abroad, as his war in the Middle East continues to seem like it will be going on for a while. Iran’s leadership has issued another direct threat as Donald Trump ramps up his rhetoric and pushes for a broader deal — even as the war hits its 60-day mark, raising serious legal questions under the War Powers Resolution. Meanwhile, oil prices surged, and Wall Street doesn’t appear confident that a resolution will be reached anytime soon. Some investors are coining a new term: “NACHO” (“Not A Chance Hormuz Opens”). Scott and Jess unpack what that means for your wallet, global markets, and whether economic pressure could force a policy shift. Back home, the Federal Reserve voted in a rare 8–4 split, signaling internal disagreement about the future direction of interest rates. Outgoing Fed chair Jerome Powell gave a press conference, warning about the threat posed by political interference in the activities of the central. What comes next with a new guy in charge — Kevin Warsh — and what might Trump try and do in response to rising gas prices? Plus: Republicans push aggressive redistricting in Florida after a major Supreme Court decision weakened a key provision of the Voting Rights Act, and in Maine, a major shakeup to the landscape in the upcoming election for the Senate seat currently held by Sen. Susan Collins (R-ME). And finally, Trump’s latest move — putting an image of his face on U.S. passports — sparks a fiery response from AOC. Thu, 30 Apr 2026 - 171 - The Rise of Conspiracy Politics in Trump’s America (ft. Astead Herndon)
After Trump imposed sweeping tariffs, tried to prevent the release of the Epstein files, and led the U.S. into another potential “forever” war, are the bonds that keep the MAGA coalition together starting to fall apart? Jessica Tarlov sits down with Vox’s Astead Herndon — political journalist and host of the new podcast “America, Actually” — to discuss these and other big-picture trends on both sides of the aisle. They also break down Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth’s testimony on Capitol Hill, as the 60-day clock on the Iran conflict winds down. Facing tough questions on strategy, civilian casualties, and rapidly depleting weapons stockpiles, one key question looms: is there any real clarity on how this ends? They also talk about the major ruling delivered by the Supreme Court on Louisiana’s congressional map, which many say further narrows the Voting Rights Act, intensifying the fight over redistricting. With Florida Republicans pushing an aggressive new map, which party is really winning the map wars? Plus: conspiracy theories explode online in the aftermath of the White House Correspondents’ Dinner. But it’s not just Republicans who are holding conspiratorial beliefs. Jessica and Astead dig into the state of the electorate ahead of the midterms: which voters are being misunderstood, what storylines are overhyped, and what a post-Trump political landscape might actually look like. Wed, 29 Apr 2026 - 170 - Trump Blames Democrats, Demands His Ballroom, and Attacks Jimmy Kimmel Again (ft. Sen. Rand Paul)
Scott Galloway and Jessica Tarlov sit down with Senator Rand Paul (R-KY) to unpack a volatile political moment in Washington. In the wake of the attempted assassination at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner, Republicans and President Trump are blaming Democrats for fueling political violence — while critics argue the response is part of a familiar cycle of partisan escalation, and that President Trump has espoused even more egregious rhetoric throughout his presidency. At the same time, Congress is debating a controversial proposal to fast-track Trump’s $400 million White House ballroom, exposing new divisions over spending, security, and priorities inside the GOP. The conversation also turns to free speech and media backlash, as Jimmy Kimmel faces renewed pressure from the Trump camp following a controversial joke that aired just days before the attack. Senator Paul weighs in on political responsibility, party loyalty, rising polarization, and what these flashpoints reveal about the state of the Republican Party heading into the midterms and 2028. Tue, 28 Apr 2026 - 169 - The Aftermath of Trump's Third Assassination Attempt
Scott Galloway and Jessica Tarlov examine the incident that took place this weekend at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner, where an armed suspect was apprehended after breaching a security perimeter. The incident, described by authorities as a potential assassination attempt, has renewed questions about the safety of high-profile political figures and the persistence of political violence in the United States. They discuss what is known about the suspect, how the breach occurred, and what the continued threats against Trump tell us about the state of the country. Is “violent rhetoric” to blame — or are we seeing a country roused to anger by cable news and social media? Would Trump’s ballroom have made those in the administration safer? And, how do the threats that Trump has faced compare to what past presidents have gone through? Plus, Scott and Jessica check in on the latest developments in the Middle East, where Iran has floated a proposal to reopen the Strait of Hormuz in exchange for a prolonged ceasefire. With global energy markets already under strain, Scott and Jess consider what the offer signals about Iran’s position — and whether a resolution is any closer. Mon, 27 Apr 2026 - 168 - A War That Trump Won’t End — and an Economy Starting to Feel It
Trump says the ceasefire is holding — but the bigger question is: what’s actually changed? Jessica Tarlov and Aaron Parnas break down a Middle East conflict that feels stuck in place while the consequences keep escalating. Oil prices have surged past $100, the U.S. is burning through thousands of missiles, and tensions with Iran are still boiling beneath the surface as both sides escalate in the Strait of Hormuz. At the same time, the ripple effects are hitting closer to home — from rising fuel costs to surprising supply chain impacts that could drive up everyday prices in ways most Americans didn’t see coming. Back in the U.S., the political chaos isn’t slowing down. A major redistricting fight in Virginia heads to the courts, the high-stakes California governor race starts to take shape with big-money candidates, and Republicans float the possibility of a Ghislaine Maxwell pardon — raising serious questions about accountability. And in a moment that feels almost too on-the-nose, Alex Jones melts down as The Onion takes over Infowars, with plans to convert it into a parody site — with proceeds going to Sandy Hook victims. Fri, 24 Apr 2026 - 167 - The Limits of Trump's "Madman" Iran Strategy
Is this a ceasefire in name only? What does “ceasefire” even mean? After extending the ceasefire with Iran, Donald Trump is threatening “shoot to kill” in the Strait of Hormuz as Iran seizes ships and commercial vessels come under fire. Scott Galloway and Jessica Tarlov break down how close we are to open conflict, what the Secretary of the Navy’s firing means, and what happens if global oil shipments become even more incapacitated. Plus: Scott and Jessica talk about the potential government bailout for Spirit Airlines, discussing how this move would evade corporate bankruptcy laws and amount to cronyism. Wed, 22 Apr 2026 - 165 - How Trump’s Iran War Could Break the GOP (ft. Ben Shapiro)
Just hours before a fragile ceasefire deadline, tensions between the U.S. and Iran are escalating — and the political fallout at home is already taking shape. Scott Galloway and Jessica Tarlov sit down with Ben Shapiro, one of the most influential voices on the right, who has called this the “single bravest foreign policy move” of his lifetime. But as the risk of a prolonged conflict grows, so do the stakes: for American power, for President Trump, and for the future of the Republican Party. They press Shapiro on whether this risks becoming the kind of “forever war” Republicans once opposed, what a realistic definition of “winning” actually looks like, and how this moment could reshape the GOP heading into 2028. They also dive into the fractures emerging inside the conservative movement — from Tucker Carlson and the right-wing media ecosystem to the growing divide among younger Republicans. Tue, 21 Apr 2026 - 164 - Trump Faces New Uncertainty as Iran Pulls Back from Talks
Scott Galloway and Jessica Tarlov break down a fast-moving moment in global and domestic politics as Iran steps back from new peace talks following the U.S. seizure of an Iranian cargo ship. With tensions rising, questions are mounting over whether the current ceasefire can hold — or whether negotiations are already beginning to unravel. Meanwhile, Vice President JD Vance is expected to travel back to Pakistan, even as Tehran signals deep hesitation. At home, the Supreme Court has struck down key elements of Trump’s tariff policy, triggering a potential $166 billion wave of refunds for importers and raising new questions about who ultimately bears the cost of trade policy gone wrong. Abroad, U.S. allies are openly reassessing their reliance on America. Scott and Jessica talk about the implications of Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney’s warning that economic ties to the United States may now represent a “weakness.” Plus, the rise of AI-generated political “influencer” accounts is reshaping the information landscape ahead of the 2026 midterms. Mon, 20 Apr 2026 - 163 - Hormuz Confusion Grows — Trump Digs in on Blockade as Iran Calls the Shots
Trump is claiming a win after the Strait of Hormuz reopens — but the reality is far more complicated. Jessica Tarlov and Aaron Parnas break down the fragile Middle East ceasefire and the mixed signals coming out of the Trump administration. With reports of backchannel talks, a possible cash-for-uranium proposal, and Trump publicly denying it, the key question at the center of it all: is there a real deal with Iran, or just the illusion of one? Meanwhile, new concerns are emerging about conditions for U.S. troops in the region, as reports of food shortages raise serious questions about resources and preparation. Back home, Trump is still trying to sell his economic message — while brushing off rising gas prices as “fake,” even as Americans feel the squeeze. Is the White House spin landing, or are voters starting to tune it out? Plus, RFK Jr. seems to soften his stance on vaccines during tense congressional hearings, and Trump sparks backlash with his latest comments on Epstein, and New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani’s push to tax ultra-wealthy second-home owners gets a noteworthy announcement. With Pakistan stepping in as a potential mediator and no clear diplomatic breakthrough in sight, questions are mounting about whether the U.S. is edging closer to renewed military action. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth has warned the U.S. is prepared to resume combat operations if negotiations fail, including the possibility of strikes on Iranian infrastructure and expanded military pressure at sea. At the same time, calls for accountability are growing in Washington, with Democrats moving toward impeachment efforts amid mounting criticism of the administration’s handling of the conflict. The political fallout is spreading. Donald Trump is weighing in on China’s role in the region, even as global markets continue to hit record highs—raising questions about whether investors are underestimating the risk of escalation. Meanwhile, a major Senate vote on U.S. weapons policy toward Israel underscores deepening divisions inside Congress over America’s role in the region. They also examine Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s contentious testimony on Capitol Hill and the broader cultural and political battles shaping his MAHA agenda. Finally, Scott and Jessica turn to an unexpected flashpoint: growing tension between the Trump administration and Pope Leo over the moral framing of the war, and what it signals about the shifting alignment between religion and American politics. Thu, 16 Apr 2026 - 161 - Trump Promised Lower Costs and Bet Big on Tax Cuts... It's Backfiring (ft. Galen Druke)
Big news! We’ve just been nominated for a Webby Award for Best News & Politics Podcast! Now it’s time to bring it home — and we need your help. Voting closes on Thursday 4/16 — So cast your vote HERE: https://wbby.co/57448N Jessica Tarlov sits down with data-driven political analyst Galen Druke, host of the GD Politics podcast, to break down what the numbers are actually saying — and what everyone else is getting wrong. On Tax Day, Republicans are still trying to sell last year’s tax cuts from the One Big Beautiful Bill as a political win. Federal refunds are slightly higher — but well below expectations — and many voters either don’t know about the cuts or simply aren’t feeling the benefit. So is the message falling flat, or just getting drowned out by bigger forces? Because right now, the economy is being reshaped by the war in Iran. Oil prices have surged, gas is climbing, and new warnings suggest global growth could take a hit. Is that what voters actually care about heading into the midterms? They also dig into Trump’s approval rating, hovering around 40 percent. On its face, that looks weak — but is it actually just “normal bad” in today’s political environment? And how much do approval ratings really matter anymore? Plus: are real cracks forming inside MAGA over the Iran war? Are Democrats building genuine momentum — or getting ahead of themselves? What do voters actually want, and why does it feel like neither party is delivering? Wed, 15 Apr 2026 - 160 - Trump Spirals as Iran Blockade Triggers Recession Fears (ft. Sen. Chris Murphy)
Big news! We’ve just been nominated for a Webby Award for Best News & Politics Podcast! Now it’s time to bring it home — and we need your help. Cast your vote HERE: https://wbby.co/57448N Scott Galloway and Jessica Tarlov break down the escalating crisis following the Trump administration’s Iran blockade—and what it could mean for the global economy. As tensions intensify in the Strait of Hormuz and negotiations stall between the U.S. and Iran, markets are flashing warning signs that a broader economic shock may already be unfolding. Senator Chris Murphy joins the show to discuss the legality of the administration’s actions, Congress’s inability to assert War Powers authority, and whether the U.S. is being pushed toward a wider conflict without meaningful checks and balances. The conversation also explores growing international backlash, shifting alliances in Europe and the Middle East, and the potential fallout for global trade and energy markets. With the IMF warning of slowing global growth, rising inflation, and increased recession risk, the panel examines whether Trump’s Iran strategy could trigger a broader economic downturn—and what, if anything, can be done to stop it. Tue, 14 Apr 2026 - 159 - Trump Blockades Hormuz as Ceasefire Collapses and Orbán Loses Power
Big news! We’ve just been nominated for a Webby Award for Best News & Politics Podcast! Now it’s time to bring it home — and we need your help. Cast your vote HERE: https://wbby.co/57448N What was supposed to be a de-escalation between the United States and Iran is already rapidly collapsing. U.S.–Iran talks in Pakistan ended without a deal, and tensions are now rising sharply after President Trump moved toward a blockade of the Strait of Hormuz. At the same time, a political earthquake is unfolding in Europe. Hungary’s longtime nationalist leader Viktor Orbán has been voted out after 16 years in power, marking a stunning setback for the global right-wing movement and a major realignment in European politics. Meanwhile, Vice President JD Vance is facing mounting scrutiny amid diplomatic setbacks abroad and declining approval at home, as questions grow about the administration’s ability to stabilize multiple crises at once. In California, the governor’s race is also in turmoil after Congressman Eric Swalwell suspended his campaign following a wave of sexual assault and misconduct allegations, triggering a criminal investigation and reshaping an already volatile political field. Jessica Tarlov and Scott Galloway break down what all of this means: Is the U.S. edging closer to direct confrontation in the Middle East? Is Orbán’s defeat a one-off shock — or part of a wider global rejection of populist nationalism? And what happens when multiple political systems start breaking down at the same time? Big news! We’ve been nominated for a Webby Award for Best News & Politics Podcast! Now it’s time to bring it home — and we need your help. Cast your vote HERE: https://wbby.co/57448N What was supposed to be a breakthrough is unraveling—fast. Jessica Tarlov and Aaron Parnas break down the chaos surrounding Donald Trump’s so-called Iran ceasefire as tensions surge across the region and the deal appears to be collapsing in real time. At the same time, Trump is facing a full-blown revolt from his own side. In a nearly 500-word Truth Social rant, he lashes out at prominent MAGA figures like Tucker Carlson, Alex Jones, Candace Owens, and Marjorie Taylor Greene—exposing a growing divide over his war posture and what “America First” really means. Fri, 10 Apr 2026 - 157 - Trump’s War in Iran Accomplished Nothing (ft. Tommy Vietor)
Big news! We’ve been nominated for a Webby Award for Best News & Politics Podcast! Now it’s time to bring it home — and we need your help. Cast your vote HERE: https://wbby.co/57448N Jessica Tarlov sits down with Tommy Vietor — co-host of Pod Save America, Pod Save the World, and the former National Security Council spokesperson under President Obama — to unpack the chaos behind Donald Trump’s so-called “ceasefire” with Iran. Trump is claiming victory — but on the ground, missiles are still flying, Israel continues strikes in Lebanon, and Iran is tightening control over the Strait of Hormuz. So what, exactly, was achieved? Tommy breaks down whether the deal was flawed from the start, what it signals about U.S. credibility abroad, and whether Trump is opening himself up to “weak on Iran” attacks at home. Then, the political fallout: Democrats clash over Israel and Gaza as the Democratic National Committee faces deep divisions on foreign policy, a growing fight over engaging influencers like Hasan Piker to win back young voters, and new scrutiny surrounding JD Vance’s role in international negotiations. And back home, the race to replace Gavin Newsom takes a dramatic turn after Trump endorses Steve Hilton in the California governor's race — a move that could reshape the field in unexpected ways. Thu, 09 Apr 2026 - 156 - Did Trump Just Give Iran the Win on a Silver Platter?
Big news! We’ve just been nominated for a Webby Award for Best News & Politics Podcast! Now it’s time to bring it home — and we need your help. Cast your vote HERE: https://wbby.co/57448N The U.S. and Iran agreed to a fragile two-week ceasefire, brokered by Pakistan, just hours before President Trump’s threatened strike. Iran has pledged to keep the Strait of Hormuz open — but reports suggest it may demand payment in cryptocurrency. Israel continues major strikes in Lebanon, and drone and missile activity across the Gulf highlight how tenuous the pause really is. Markets have rallied on the news, but the real question remains: did the U.S. gain leverage, or did Iran get what it wanted on a silver platter? Scott Galloway and Jessica Tarlov break down the ceasefire, analyze the claims from both sides, and discuss the potential path toward a longer-term deal. #trump #uspolitics #politics #scottgalloway #jessicatarlov #republicans #gop #republicanparty #democrats #democraticparty #IranWar #PeacePlan #Pakistan #bankruptcy #Iran #StraitofHormuz Follow Jessica Tarlov, @JessicaTarlov Follow Prof G, @profgalloway Follow Raging Moderates, @RagingModeratesPod Subscribe to our YouTube Channel: https://www.youtube.com/@RagingModerates Learn more about your ad choices. Big news! We’ve just been nominated for a Webby Award for Best News & Politics Podcast! Now it’s time to bring it home — and we need your help. Cast your vote HERE: https://wbby.co/57448N Jessica Tarlov sits down with attorney and MeidasTouch host Katie Phang to break down Trump’s latest escalation with Iran — his 8:00 P.M. deadline, threats to strike civilian infrastructure, and the very real question of whether this is brinkmanship... or something much worse. They talk through what happens next, whether there’s any credible off-ramp, and how seriously to take Iran’s reported 10-point peace proposal. Plus, Trump goes even further on NATO, Vice President JD Vance heads to Hungary to boost Viktor Orbán, and the MAGA reaction — from Tucker Carlson to Megyn Kelly — shows just how fractured the right is at this moment. Meanwhile, calls for the 25th Amendment are getting louder — and they're not just coming from Democrats. Fri, 03 Apr 2026 - 151 - Pam Bondi Fired as Trump Promised BIG News on the Iran War… Delivered NOTHING (ft. Marc Elias)
Big news! We’ve been nominated for a Webby Award for Best News & Politics Podcast! Now it’s time to bring it home — and we need your help. Cast your vote HERE. Trump took the stage for a highly anticipated primetime address — and delivered a speech that raised more questions than answers. Jessica Tarlov is joined by top election lawyer Marc Elias, founder of Democracy Docket, to break down Trump’s bizarre, low-energy remarks — from his claim that the Iran conflict is “nearing completion” to his threat to take Iran “back to the stone age.” As markets react and oil prices surge, what was the actual strategy here? But that’s just the beginning. Elias unpacks the real stakes behind Trump’s sweeping new executive order targeting voting rights, including efforts to create a national voter database and restrict mail-in voting. Is it legal — and could it actually impact future elections? Plus, they discuss reports that Trump fired Pam Bondi and what that could signal, the Supreme Court showdown over birthright citizenship — and whether the Fourteenth Amendment is at risk — and finally, a rare moment of optimism: Artemis II and what it means as humans prepare to return to the moon. #trump #uspolitics #politics #jessicatarlov #republicans #gop #republicanparty #democrats #democraticparty #MarcElias #Bondi #Gabbard #Hegseth #Iran #ragingmoderates #votingrights #saveact Follow Jessica Tarlov, @JessicaTarlov Follow Prof G, @profgalloway Follow Raging Moderates, @RagingModeratesPod Subscribe to our YouTube Channel: https://www.youtube.com/@RagingModerates Learn more about your ad choices. Gas prices are climbing, supply chains are tightening, and the Magnificent 7 tech giants are taking a hit. Scott Galloway and Jessica Tarlov break down the chaos: Is Trump steering the country toward peace — or pushing the U.S. further into disaster? How high could energy prices go if the conflict drags on? And, at what point do the costs of war start outweighing the public's patience? They dig into what it was like chasing the story when no one else would, where the case stands today, and why so many questions still remain — from missing documents to the controversy surrounding Epstein’s death. They also unpack the idea of an “Epstein class,” the role of powerful institutions, and whether real accountability is actually slowly happening — or quietly slipping away. Mon, 30 Mar 2026 - 147 - Are We Still Fighting the "Axis of Evil" in Iran? (ft. David Frum)
As more and more U.S. military members are shipping to the region, is Trump trying to bluff his way into a full-blown ground invasion of Iran? Jessica Tarlov is joined by David Frum to discuss. They talk about the danger of Trump’s particular brand of “messianism,” along with an administration staffed with “fanatics and crooks.” Frum, who was a speechwriter for President George W. Bush, recalls the post-9/11 “axis of evil” speech — which included the Iranian regime even 24 years ago. They discuss the role of JD Vance, who is both signaling his alleged skepticism about the war in Iran, and being identified as a possible negotiator with the regime there. Then, they discuss Trump’s morality and egoism, how it has infected every aspect of his presidency – including this war. Finally, David and Jessica talk about the surprising news that the Treasury intends to issue paper currency featuring Trump’s signature — which would end a 165-year tradition in the U.S. of no president’s signature appearing on legal tender. They discuss the prospects of Trump escalating the conflict by sending in ground forces, or initiating a new bombing campaign. Warner discusses the far-reaching economic consequences stemming both from the chokehold on the Strait of Hormuz, and from Trump’s confusing decision to ease sanctions on both Russia and Iran. And they evaluate how Congress can negotiate a war while facing such a contentious relationship with Pete Hegseth and the Pentagon. Plus, Sen. Warner talks about the biggest threat facing the country right now: election security. He explains why and how Trump might interfere with the midterms this year, and what role ICE might play in the disruption. They discuss how the administration is using uncertainty surrounding the Strait of Hormuz, misdirection around peace talks, and manipulation of prediction markets to extract wealth from the conflict. Plus — Scaramucci explains how it works inside Trump’s head, why there is a corruption problem on both sides of the aisle, and why MAGA voters are able to separate Trump’s campaign promises from the disappointing economic reality. Wed, 18 Mar 2026 - 139 - Trump’s Iran War Plan Falls Apart as Allies Walk Away
Trump is facing pressure on all fronts — and the cracks are starting to show. Abroad, tensions with Iran are escalating fast after a reported strike near Tehran killed a top Iranian leader. As the situation spirals, Donald Trump is pushing U.S. allies to help secure the Strait of Hormuz — but so far, key partners are refusing, raising questions about America’s influence and the risk of a wider conflict. Back home, reality is setting in. After promising mass deportations and a “100 percent American workforce,” the administration is now expanding migrant farmworker visas as labor shortages hit — a stark reversal that exposes the limits of Trump’s immigration agenda. Meanwhile, Republicans are advancing the SAVE Act, a controversial voting bill critics warn could tilt elections toward the GOP. Scott Galloway and Jessica Tarlov break it all down — from growing global pushback to the economic fallout at home, and whether the administration is losing control of its own agenda. Mon, 16 Mar 2026 - 137 - Trump’s Iran and Immigration Pivot Sparks MAGA Civil War
MAGA world is starting to crack. Jessica Tarlov and Aaron Parnas break down the growing backlash against Donald Trump from his own base over the escalating conflict with Iran and a brewing fight inside the right over mass deportations. But first, they discuss two disturbing attacks this week: a man driving a truck into Temple Israel outside Detroit before exchanging gunfire with security, and a shooting at Old Dominion University involving a suspect previously convicted of attempting to provide support to ISIS. Plus, a bizarre new statue on the National Mall is once again putting Trump’s relationship with Jeffrey Epstein back in the spotlight. Fri, 13 Mar 2026 - 136 - Trump Voters Love this Democratic Governor (ft. Gov. Andy Beshear)
The U.S. has already spent more than $11 billion in the first week of fighting with Iran. Gas prices are nearing a four-year high, and tensions across the Middle East are rapidly escalating. Scott Galloway and Jessica Tarlov sit down with Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear, one of the most popular governors in the country, to discuss the growing conflict with Iran, the human and financial costs of war, and the death of Benjamin Pennington, a Kentucky soldier killed in the fighting. Governor Beshear also weighs in on a new lawsuit from the United States Department of Justice seeking access to voter registration databases across multiple states, including Kentucky. Plus: how a Democrat wins over Donald Trump voters in a deep-red state, why Beshear vetoed a bill restricting gender-affirming care, and what the future of the Democratic Party actually looks like. Thu, 12 Mar 2026 - 135 - What Democrats Still Don’t Get about MAGA (ft. Jordan Klepper of The Daily Show)
In a post-Trump world, what will happen to the MAGA base? Jessica Tarlov is joined by comedian and The Daily Show co-host Jordan Klepper to talk through it. Jordan has spent the past decade at Trump rallies, talking with voters on the right about what they believe, who they distrust, and what’s really galvanizing their movement. Jessica and Jordan also discuss White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt’s latest attempt to avoid accountability for strikes in Iran, Lindsey Graham’s lust for being close to power, and whether or not Democrats can transform from a party widely seen as feckless and ineffective in opposition to Trump… into a movement inspired by authenticity, community, and even fun. And, in a media landscape dominated by right-wing corporate conglomeration on the one hand and online creators on the other hand, how has The Daily Show — a thirty-year-old television program — managed to actually gain Gen Z viewers? Wed, 11 Mar 2026 - 134 - The Trump Administration Can’t Get Their Iran War Story Straight
As the war in Iran roils on, with devastating effects on the oil markets, what is Trump’s plan to get the U.S. out of another regional quagmire? Scott Galloway and Jessica Tarlov discuss the latest developments on the war in Iran from the administration — including a befuddling announcement from Trump, startling messaging from Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth, and a foreboding sense from Secretary of State Marco Rubio that Cuba is next. Plus — Scott explains why the markets seem to have rebounded from yesterday’s oil price spike, and Jessica unpacks why Trump’s refusal to provide strong support for Ukraine in its war with Russia may have already hurt the U.S. in Iran.
