Seven Deadly Sinners

From a lonely childhood to a worldwide manhunt, this is the strange, chaotic story of the Barefoot Bandit—and the crimes that turned a troubled kid into a modern folk hero.

Some mysteries die in the daylight. Others wait in the fields.

Rachael travels to Creede, Colorado a cowboy town in the mountains founded in 1892 and comes across a creepy real life encounter tale of a cryptid sighting from a local that happened just south in New Mexico.

There is a cowboy we know, who would prefer to be called a "horseman" that long ago had a criminal past.... his stories are like Hollywood screenplays and most of them you wouldn't believe.... but this one, the tale of a hired hit, where the criminal listened to his conscious and against his better judgement be-friended the target.... this is a story we've been waiting a long time to gain his trust enough to let it be told on the podcast. In August of 2020 I interviewed Sarah Turney, she is one of the strongest, most level headed and kindest people I've ever spoken to...and that's all in the face of a fight for justice for her sister Alissa Turney. I highly recommend you listen to her podcast "Voices For Justice" all the way through, but listening to this full episode will give you a general background that I hope encourages you to look further into Alissa Turney's life, her disappearance and Michael Turney's bizarre life and transgressions.

In this high-octane episode of 7DS, we dive into the twisted tale of John Paul Sr.—a world-class race car driver whose life off the track was far more dangerous than anything he faced at 200 mph. From winning Le Mans to running a ruthless drug trafficking empire, Paul Sr.'s checkered flag career took a sinister turn. As his thirst for power, money, and control escalated, so did the bodies and betrayals. And when people close to him started disappearing—including his own wife—the question became not if he was involved, but how far he’d go to stay ahead of the law. Buckle up for a story of speed, scandal, and the deadly sins that drove one man off the rails.

In this gripping episode of Seven Deadly Sinners, we speed into the dangerous intersection of fame, power, and betrayal to uncover the shocking true story of Elmer George — a former race car driver turned IMS radio director — whose life ended in a blaze of gunfire on Memorial Day weekend, 1976. Just hours after the Indianapolis 500, George’s lifeless body was found on a rural Indiana farm, the result of a violent confrontation that left the racing world stunned. Was it a crime of passion, a calculated hit, or a family feud gone fatally wrong? We peel back the layers of a tangled web involving George’s crumbling marriage to Mari George — daughter of Indy racing magnate Tony Hulman — and her secret relationship with Guy Trolinger, the man who would ultimately pull the trigger. Strap in. Oh, and Go Pacers.

In Part 3 Rachael speaks with Maura, a friend and IT investigator who is very familiar with the case, to uncover what happened leading up to the discovery of Rebekah's body 10 months after she went missing.

Looking back on the Oklahoma City Bombing.

Have you heard of the mysterious megalithic shaft found on the top of a mountain in Russia?

Quite possibly the biggest trial in modern history played out in front of the backdrop of the Rodney King riots that reshaped the cultural discussion on police brutality in Los Angeles - and to get a deeper understanding of how O.J. Simpson's legal team used the social impact of Rodney King's story to their advantage Rachael calls upon her friend, Jennifer Gimenez, who helped Rodney get sober for an overview.

This story has it all - celebrity, money, fame, sex, scandal, abuse, crime, and murder. This is the story of O.J. Simpson and everyone in his orbit...between the dazzling record breaking runs, athletic achievements, tv shows, movies and huge endorsement deals lay a labyrinth of sins, pride, lust, greed, envy.... Sins that couldn't stay in the shadows forever and would slowly erode the man the world believed he was.

Jim Jones was an American cult leader and mass murderer who founded and led the Peoples Temple between 1955 and 1978. In what Jones termed "revolutionary suicide", Jones and the members of his inner circle planned and orchestrated a mass murder-suicide in his remote jungle commune at Jonestown, Guyana, on November 18, 1978. As a child Jim Jones was entranced with two things - Pentecostal preachers and Communism. Reflecting back on his participation in the Communist Party, Jones said that he asked himself, "How can I demonstrate my Marxism? The thought was, infiltrate the church." AND SO HE DID. He began his religious career in 1952, Jones was hired as student pastor to the children at the Sommerset Southside Methodist Church, where he launched a project to create a playground that would be open to children of all races. Jones continued to visit and speak at Pentecostal churches while serving as Methodist student pastor.  He felt called to the pomp and circumstance of the Penteco...

Marvin "Popcorn" Sutton was born on October 5, 1946. He was as Appalachian as you can get. The accent was off the charts and he had moonshine in his blood. Legend says that he only lit one cigarette in this life, the rest lit by the other cigs he was smoking. He was a moonshiner, a boot-legger and an outlaw.  LINK TO FILM COMPOSER STEVE'S GOFUNDME: https://gofund.me/51ad26ed

Part Two on the skyjacking saga of D.B. Cooper.

D. B. Cooper has never been identified even though he hijacked a Boeing 727 aircraft in United States airspace on November 24, 1971. During a flight from Portland, Oregon, to Seattle, Washington, Cooper told a flight attendant he had a bomb, demanded $200,000 cash and four parachutes upon landing in Seattle. Somewhere south of Seattle D.B. opened the escape hatch and parachuted into the black of night. Cooper's whereabouts have never been found.

Three unwitting criminals take a gig breaking a former pro-wrestler's son "Cooter" out of a Mexican Prison. Rachael got a last minute opportunity to see Stevie Nicks so this weeks episode was recorded on the run while Greg drove her to the Denver airport before she flew to LA. Deep in the annals of Aguilar, Colorado - miles down a dirt road, lies a black Pyramid house nestled under the Spanish Peaks built by a man determined to bring back his wife's soul from the dead. But that was 50 years ago. Now, the homestead is owned by a former Los Angeleno named Austin who after renovating the Pyramid house has come face to face with spiritual entities - perhaps the former occupants.

The beginnings of the Waco Siege story

In this week's episode Rachael talks to a horse trainer that actually had encounters in the quarter horse world with different cartels. The eye opening interview with the anonymous trainer is peppered in with the true story of how the Treviño brothers infiltrated the Quarter Horse racing world and laundered millions of dollars through it before the FBI caught onto their scent. Rachael also debuts her Husband, Greg's, new song "One Horse Ranch" from his upcoming album "Horse Power" which she found fitting for this particular episode - here is the pre-save link for the song: https://ditto.fm/one-horse-ranch-greg-hunter

All eyes are on the most violent Mexican drug cartel, the Zetas, by way of their dealings in the quarter horse racing business.

In Part Two we dive into Jim Baker's second killing with his bare hands, a few more wifes and the restaurant that fueled it all - The Source Family Restaurant

Greg was recently stuck on I-40 in the Mojave Desert for over 12 hours after a semi-truck hauling lithium-ion batteries crashed and shut down I-15 and all the traffic was diverted. After more collisions and break downs the bottle necks kept piling up until Greg's only shot at freedom was through the Mojave Preserve..... This harrowing Traffic Jam gridlock story prompted us to research other horrible traffic fiascos on American highways and there was no short supply.

And on this week of 7DS we are profiling, perhaps one of the bigger tragedies to the comedy corner of the entertainment world, was the shocking murder of Phil Hartman, beloved SNL actor, voice on the Simpsons, household name, an every man, but a legend.

What started out as a competition with both car manufactures and the drivers alike in 1923 became the most famous car race in history. It all began in 1923 when Mercedes, Jaguar, etc wanted to be the best at creating the ultimate car has now evolved into the smartest, most strategic teams of drivers showcase their skills, their ability to work as a team and dance the ultimate high speed dance of high risk skill. The Le Mans is also a limit pushing spectator sport where watching on the edge of your seat these drivers and their machines beat, and sometimes not, unimaginable odds. And in today’s case, it proved even more dangerous for the spectators than it did for the drivers. Not to discount the driver’s trauma, loss, and even death, but the 1955 Le Mans tragic disaster which took over 80 spectators lives and injured over 100 more is still the worst crash and outcome in racing history..

Part Two of Aaron Hernandez

Racheal is joined by her homesteading ranch wife partner in crime; her neighbor on the ranch, Natalie; and the two discuss the tragic downfall of Aaron Hernandez.

Bear with us guys - We're down bad on the ranch. First Rachael was in horrible hail storm truck accident that left her with a burst fracture in her L2 vertebrae but actually 12 hours before that Greg was in the hospital getting 7 stitches. Then well, two weeks later and Greg's Dad has a freak accident on the ranch and is air lifted by Helicopter to the hospital. Is it just bad luck or is there a curse on this land? Did we disturb a tomb when we trenched in our power to our new house?Ranch guests Phil Des Jean & his right hand man, Mason, join us this week to discuss the tragic accidents haunting their stay on Hunter's Ranch.

Rachael was in a terrifying accident in her truck this week and so she is telling her OWN wild listener stories as well as more from our inbox! Thank you for sending in your stories and please keep them coming!

Matthew Hahn risks life in prison in order to save a young girl - and due to Hahn's prior criminal record and the 3 strikes law in California turning over this memory card to land in the hands of the proper authorities effectively provides evidence not only of a sexual assault on a child but also of a burglary committed by Matthew Hahn. He knew he was sealing his fate inside of that envelope - yet he did it anyway. Seemingly a petty thief, his sense of duty to protect a young girl he had never met drove him to sacrifice his life of crime and drugs, jeopardize his freedom and prove his moral compass has a true north.

Back in December of 2019 Rachael traveled to San Jose, CA to interview Matthew Hahn - a man whose story will rock you to your core. He's an open book and his unwavering honesty from where he grew up, to his drug addiction, to losing a friend and ultimately making a decision that could have landed him in prison for the rest of his life - but saved a child's life from anymore abuse.

The Founding Father of Franklin Scandal Reporting is here to discuss the heinous abuse of power from Nebraska to D.C. as well as how the criminal thread weaves into Epstein's web.

TUPAC SHAKUR, LEGENDARY POETIC RAPPER, CONTRAVERSIAL FIGURE, CONVICTED CRIMINAL…..COMPLICATED MAN.  WHEN INNER CITY GANGS MET UP WITH THE BURGEONING RAP INDUSTRY THINGS WENT SOUTH QUICKLY AND THE RIP TIDE AT THE CENTER OF IT WAS THE MURDERS OF TUPAC AND BIGGIE.  THIS WILL BE THE TWO PARTER ON THE MURDER OF TUPAC, THEN THE MURDER OF BIGGIE AND ALL THE CONNECTED EAST COAST WEST COAST VIOLENCE IN BETWEEN.

This is the unbelievable followup to the Franklin Scandal. Yes if you’re a long time listener you know I did about a 1000 part series back in 2021 on the Franklin scandal. It may have been only 7 eps but you get the point, I was obsessed with it. I wanted to connect the dots, I wanted to solved the unsolved.  So when earlier this week, a victim of this scandal, perhaps the most well known one reached out to me and sent me the kindest message I may have ever received…..I cold called her immediately. Well immediately after sobbing bc it was a message that was so heart felt and also one I needed at the time as well. In addition, she has connected me to nick Bryant, the author and unbelievably dedicated and inspiriting journalist that worked on this Franklin scandal story for over a decade and who was also the person to publish the little black book in the Epstein case and who now, has a non profit with Alisha to get justice for child victims of trafficking. It is real, it’s in...

This is a story of women with grit, women who were brave and women who were sometimes, also seductive. This story was inspired by a new podcast out by Neil Strauss where he interviews an actual Russian female sex spy so I decided to look into this world further, the world of sexpionage and how brave and alluring female spies helped to change the course of the second world war.... And likely are still changing the course of politics today. In the stories I’ll tell you today, I start with the most famous of them all, the Kitty Salon, a brothel the Nazi’s took over in order to gain intelligence on other high ranking officials, enemies, frenemies, and beyond.

The story of a man who almost got away with murder had it not been for the suspicions of his wife’s siblings. This is the story of preacher with secrets, a con-man and convicted murderer, Timothy Tillman, was it an accident or an actual murder? I’ll let you decide.
