But it wasn’t until Angela called 911 to report that she had been sexually assaulted and that Michelle was responsible for setting it up, that Michelle Hadley was arrested and sent to jail. The only problem was Michelle wasn’t behind the emails, or the alleged plot to have Angela sexually assaulted. She’d been set up by Ian and Angela. Dennis and producer Michelle Madigan tell Keith about the investigative work done by Hadley’s father to try to clear his daughter's name. Josh Mankiewicz sits down with Blayne Alexander to discuss her episode, “The Mushroom Mystery.” In April 2020, the body of beloved cyclist David Fouts was found in a ditch in Hamilton County, Indiana. The autopsy was inconclusive, but did reveal David had consumed toxic mushrooms, just not the lethal kind. Detectives pieced together a case against David’s widow, Katrina Fouts, accusing her of devising an elaborate plot to kill her husband with the help of her friend, retired police officer Terry Hopkins. The two were charged with murder and conspiracy to commit murder. While awaiting trial, Terry told investigators he’d strangled David. He died a few months later. Just hours earlier, in a neighboring town, authorities responded to another house fire, this time at the home of Keith’s older brother, Paul. Andrea Canning sits down with Josh Mankiewicz to discuss his episode, “Out of the Darkness.” In 2016, Chacey Poynter called 911 in hysterics to report that her husband, Bob, a fire captain, had been fatally shot by a stranger on a Texas country road. When police arrived at the scene, they found a frantic Chacey covered in her husband’s blood. Investigators quickly surmised that her emotion and her story were far from genuine. Blayne Alexander sits down with Josh Mankiewicz to discuss his episode, “Deadly Detour.” In 2016, Atlanta power couple Diane and Tex McIver were driving home with a friend when Tex’s gun went off and fatally shot Diane through the passenger seat. Tex said the gun went off accidentally, but investigators disagreed. They believed Tex McIver intentionally pulled the trigger to kill his wife and inherit her money. Tex went to trial in 2018, where he was convicted of felony murder and sentenced to life in prison. Then, in 2022, the Georgia Supreme Court overturned the verdict. Tex pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter, and in 2025 was released from prison on parole. Josh talks about what it was like to drive the fatal route with the McIvers’ friend, Dani Jo, and Blayne describes her days as a local reporter in Atlanta, covering some of the same lawyers who worked on the case.
