    Prof. Omkumar Krishnan is a Ph.D. & MPhil from IIT, Bombay. He specializes in the area of qualitative and quantitative marketing research. At IIMK, he takes courses on Consumer Behaviour, Marketing Research, Relationship Marketing, and Marketing of Services. He is currently the Area Chair of Marketing Management and is Chairperson Student Affairs. His social undertakings as Chairperson of Alumni received many accolades  

    Prof. Omkumar is being interviewed by IIM Kozhikode alumna, Nisha, who has more than a decades  experience in providing IT solutions to clients from industries spanning from banks, medical devices, real estate, legal and retail.  After her Executive MBA from IIMK where she was also a gold medalist,  she started a management consulting firm, Consoul Associates.

  • 25 - [Roll Call S1E9] Prof. Pulapre Balakrishnan - Being Aatmanirbhar in ideas & an Infra focus for Nation Building

    Prof. Pulapre Balakrishnan is one of India's leading economists and a founding faculty member of IIM Kozhikode, having taught the first eleven batchs from 1997 till 2007. He was educated at Moscow, Madras and New Delhi, and trained as an economist at Oxford and Cambridge. He left the World Bank in Washington DC, to join the newly founded IIM Kozhikode. He left a decade later, to similarly entrepreneurial academic pursuits, first as Director of the Centre for Development Studies at Thiruvananthapuram, where he launched the first MA program of JNU outside of JNU, and then in 2015 as faculty at Ashoka University, where he is currently teaching. He has for over two decades participated in the public discourse on India's economy via his popular writings, some of which can be found at https://www.pulaprebalakrishnan.in/  He is a recipient of the Malcolm Adiseshiah Award for Distinguished Contribution to Development Studies (2014).  

    Prof. Balakrishnan was hosted on this episode of Roll Call by former student, Devroop Dhar of the IIM Kozhikode Class of 2006. Devroop Dhar is Co-founder and Managing Director at Primus Partners India, and a former Partner at KPMG India. The discussion will have two parts - a fireside chat between Prof. Balakrishnan and Devroop, followed by a Q&A with live audience questions. Prof. Balakrishnan will cover his suggested interventions for the Indian economy, his memories of the initial years of IIM Kozhikode and several other topics.

    In this episode, Prof. Anupam Das takes us on a freewheeling discussion about a variety of communication new-normals such as; - his take on business communication in the COVID era as board meetings, client presentations and even chai breaks are taking place over Zoom - the importance of intrapersonal communication when people can no longer depend on family, friends, and acquaintances for social interaction - the judicious use of social media platforms and its impact on mental health given it has become our go-to medium to express ourselves - with all our interactions going virtual/online, how computer-mediated communications can become very highly personal and have advantages over traditional face to face communications - his recently published book on business communications following a problem-solving approach.
