We tried to make it a bit more entertaining than your high school physics class so don’t run away! Grab your glass and get cozy, let's talk about murder!  In Part 3 of The Manson Family Murders, we are going to trial!  We will discuss all of the puzzle pieces that prosecuting attorney, Vincent Bugliosi, had put together in order to establish the motive behind the gruesome Tate-LaBianca murders and to prove that the co-defendants were guilty beyond a reasonable doubt. Those being tried for conspiracy to commit murder and murder in the first degree included: Charles Manson, Susan Atkins, Patricia Krenwinkel, and Leslie Van Houten.  Of course, that would not be an easy task as the motive, 'helter sketler', was far from conventional and the mastermind behind it all, was not actually present for the slayings. If the case itself wasn't difficult enough, the trial complicated things even further. They were able to point detectives in the right direction by giving them the name Susan Atkins, who had apparently been involved with the murder of Gary Hinman. It turns out that Susan also liked to share her experiences with gruesome murder and ‘Helter Skelter’ with other inmates. In this episode we set the scene with the horrific murders that took place in Los Angeles during the summer of 1969. The first night of slaughter claimed the lives of five victims, including movie actress, Sharon Tate, who was eight months pregnant. The following night, two more lives were taken, as Leno and Rosemary LaBianca were attacked in their home. Both events included multiple stab wounds, affluent Caucasian victims, ligature, and messages written in blood. She had just gotten engaged to her high-school sweetheart and they were moving into their new home. Unfortunately though, her new beginnings had a quick and bitter end. She was murdered before the couple had even spent their first night in their new home.  Not only was her murder shocking, but they way her body was posed was even more disturbing. Happy Halloween! Grab your glass (& a box of tissues) and get cozy, let’s talk about murder!  In this special mini episode, we dive into the horrific story of the Oklahoma City bombing.  I know, I know, we said we weren't going to be doing mini episodes anymore but this story is directly related to the Waco case so we had to tell it! On April 19, 1995, Timothy McVeigh parked a rented vehicle full of explosives in front of the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building in downtown Oklahoma City. His goal was to make the ATF and the FBI feel the same way as those that lost loved ones in Ruby Ridge and in the Waco siege.  What resulted was the deadliest act of domestic terrorism in U.S. history. 168 lives were lost, including 19 children, and several hundred more were injured. With so many sides of the story to consider, it's hard not to get wrapped up in it all.  In this episode, we will dive into the final attack that the FBI created in order to end the 51 day siege with the Branch Davidian cult. Surprise! It doesn't go well. With a combination of CS gas and military equipment, the assault they made on this religious community resulted in the deaths of 75 people. This week we wanted to cover a case local to Alberta, and trust us, this one will not disappoint.  This dark and twisty episode not only tells the terrifying tale of the Wendigo, but also how it affected a man named Swift Runner, which ultimately led to the deaths of his entire family. Wendigos have been a part of Algonquin-speaking First Nations traditions for ages, but although they might just be legends so some, they have resulted in very real murders.  The winter of 1878-79 was particularly harsh for the Cree family in Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta. Unfortunately, those experiencing extreme isolation, cold, and hunger are the most susceptible to the evil spirit, so the conditions were perfect for possession. The custom building had a variety of rooms constructed specifically for the purpose of committing different methods of murder.  With a victim count somewhere between 9-200, he certainly is a mysterious and notorious figure in the true crime community. Omaima Nelson, a young Egyptian model, is quite the opposite of that. However, even though she was incredibly beautiful, the crimes she committed were hideous.  Omaima met, married, and murdered 56 year old Bill Nelson, all within a couple of months.
