2020 was a hard year. Everyone on the planet felt it's effects but I think it was a good wake up call for Americans as it showed them just how fragile the system really is. Hopefully this spawns a new generation of preppers but for those of us who were prepared, we still learned some valuable lessons and takeaways that we can use going forward - because I think we are going to need it. I think 2020 that was just the beginning. I believe we are in for a decade of hurt, especially if you value freedom over safety. So the lessons learned in 2020 will be needed in the years to come. This past Monday night, a video was released which showed George Floyd pinned on the ground by Minneapolis police officer and it clearly shows Floyd struggling for air and begging for his life. Eventually Floyd looses consciousnesses and despite pleas from witnesses, the officers never check his pulse or show any concern for his well being. Floyd died on route to the hospital. All four of the officers involved in his arrest have subsequently been fired and one has been charged with 3rd degree murder. What are our thoughts on this whole situation? Do the police have a warrior complex issue? Is racism systemic? Let's find out. Enjoy.

Not according to a decade worth of data on crime and homicide data compiled by the CDC, FBI and the BJS.  A new App from Clearview allows law enforcement and security personnel to instantly identify you by just a single photo. The app works by scraping facial data from Facebook, Venmo, Youtube, and other social media sites. Are we headed for a Cyberpunk-Esq society? How can we have a right to privacy in this type of future? When faced with an armed intruder or even a mass shooter we always say that we can use numbers to our advantage. A lone person bent on killing as many people as possible can’t possibly succeed if we all decide to fight and that is exactly how one family from  Louisiana survived an armed home invasion. They decided they weren’t going to be victims and they fought back, took his gun and killed him. To wrap up this episode we cover a fun article that reported 5000 US troops drank Iceland Capital’s entire beer supply in one weekend following a NATO-led military exercise. Enjoy!

This week on the Wasted Ammo Podcast, we discover that Kyle is in fact Santa because he came in bearing gifts! As with every new gun purchase, we spend the first part of the show showing off the Springfield Armory M1A SOCOM 16 that Kyle gifted to Steve and the 1943 1911 he gave to Eric. Kyle had the SOCOM 16 sent to Chris Steele of Lutter Custom Guns for a custom, two tone digital camo paint job and it looks amazing!

After all the gun loving we get straight into the show and talk about a couple different articles but the meat of today's episode is the Miami-Dade Police Department shootout on a busy highway with two armed robbers who hijacked a UPS driver. Police officers engaged the robbers when they were forced to stop in heavy highway traffic, using innocent bystander's cars to shield themselves from incoming rounds. After it was all over, four people were dead- the two robbers, the UPS driver who was taken hostage and a motorist stuck at the intersection. It was a bad situation for everyone involved but was the course of action taken by police the correct one? Did the police jeopardize the lives of innocent bystanders? Are they held to the same standard as citizen defenders? Lets find out. Enjoy!

Today on the Wasted Ammo podcast we cover the Thousand Oaks shooting - where a 28-year-old, former Marine, walked into the packed Borderline Bar& Grill armed with a Glock 21 and opened fire late Wednesday night. As usual, the mass killer eventually turned the gun on himself but not before killing 12 people, including a veteran sheriff's sergeant who rushed in to save lives. California has a prolifera of gun laws on the books - an anti-gunner's wet-dream list of infringements - but it could not stop a person who has evil intent and who wanted to kill as many people as possible. The natural instinct when there is any danger is to shield our children with our bodies but is that the best idea if you are dealing with an armed bad guy? Born in 1920, he fought in the Pacific in World War II and in Korea before retiring as a lieutenant colonel. Cooper went on to earn his master’s degree and taught high school and college classes before he opened American Pistol Institute (API), which is now known as Gunsite, one of the nation’s top training destinations for civilian shooters, law enforcement, and military professionals. Today on the Wasted Ammo podcast we talk all about our experience and lessons learned from our bug out simulation. The original plan was to hike the full 33-mile route from Steve's house to the bug out location but we were advised against this by the community (rightfully so) so we split the simulation in half for our first go.  We ended up rucking for about 17 miles and while it was hard, it was also done in ideal conditions - no family, no threats, no extra weight from tactical gear and the weather was perfect at 74 degrees and sunny. After this experience, we definitely have a greater appreciation for just how much bugging-out would suck in an SHTF scenario and hopefully this knowledge helps us make the right choice if the time comes.  Enjoy!

Boykin was one of the elite warriors chosen in 1978 to make up the first unit in America's ultra-secretive and deadly Delta Force. He then became commander of the unit, and later still, commander of all U.S. Army Special Forces. His thirty-six years in the military included a tour at the Central Intelligence Agency and clandestine missions around the world. Today on the Wasted Ammo Podcast we Zero-In on the Springfield Armory and Rock River Arms Illinois FFL carve-out fiasco. Last week, the Illinois State Senate passed bill SB-1657 by a one-vote margin. While the bill will now move on to the House, if signed by Governor the new law will mandate state licensing for all Illinois gun dealers. The lobbyist for the Illinois Firearms Manufacturers Association (IFMA), Jay Keller, traded that group’s opposition to the bill in exchange for a carve-out, removing large firearm manufacturers from the licensing requirements. Now the question is, just how much did Springfield and Rock River know? Either way, this move was a huge FU to the 2A, the gun community, and liberty as a whole.  We shall see what happens next and if these companies can save face and regain the trust of gun owners as they move forward. As a continuation of our "Better Men Than Us" series, we share a recording of Keni Thomas speaking on Operation Restore Hope and the Battle For Mogadishu. Thomas was a member of Task Force Ranger as a part of Operation Restore Hope in Somalia where the main objective was to capture the Somali warlord Mohamed Farrah Aidid. The most well known of their combat missions occurred October 3, 1993, when Thomas and fellow Task Force members were involved in the Battle of Mogadishu that was later immortalized in the book and movie Black Hawk Down. A lot of these frustrations come down to us being Broke Gun Enthusiasts that strive for a level of proficiency that is costly so it does get frustrating. Is getting professional training something that everyone should strive for? Yes but not all of us can afford that luxury so a lot of us must make due with youtube training and rely on professional opinion online that all too often showcases and recommend guns like the Salient Arms Glock that costs $3,000.......really? If you want a $3000 Glock then by all means get it, we are just saying that you can be just as proficient with a base model Glock for $600 and a whole lot of bullets.

Don't misconstrue our words in this episode, we highly respect the opinion and professional experience of people who strap on a gun every day and risk their lives; what we are saying is that you shouldn't take their opinion (Or even ours) as the be-all-end-all. Take the time to cipher through the information, pull out what you like, tweak it and mold it so it works for you!

The Constitution's Framers foresaw that even with the checks and balances in place, there would be a day when the Federal Government would exceed and abuse it's enumerated powers, placing our freedom and liberty at risk so they gave the people the power to reign in the Federal Government by giving the States the ability to propose and ratify amendments without the approval of Congress or the President.  This power is clearly stated in article V and it might be our only way to save this great nation.

By now I'm sure everyone has heard the story of pro-gun Floridian, Jamie Gilt getting shot by her 4 year old son while driving down the highway. This story really hit home for me because like Jamie, I  am very pro-gun, I have a son that is 4 and I tend to carry off body so, in a alternate universe I could see this being me. So we wanted to dive into this story along with an article written by Melody Lauer titled, "When Baby Reaches For Your Gun," and we have an open discussion on guns, holsters, carry techniques and gun safety. I think every gun nut has been in a debate with a anti-gunner about the true intention of the Second Amendment at least once but more than likely, many times. While arguing the purpose of the Second Amendment, many anti-gunners will eventually say that if your argument is true, then that means we should all have the right to be armed with nukes. This is a informal fallacy where a debater exaggerates an opponent's position to such an extent as to replace it with a position that was not originally argued by the opponent.  If someone spews out this ignorance during a debate then first of all, you know you are winning but second, why not dig the knife in a little deeper with a logical answer, drop the mic and walk away?

Today's episode is all about home defense and strategies. The inspiration of this episode was from Andrew Bobo, a listener who sent us a link to a video of  firearm instructor Reid Henrichs from Valor Ridge who said they you should keep all your guns and magazines loaded, chambered and ready to go. Andrew wanted our feedback on how tactical parents who have kids can stage handguns throughout the house but in a safe way - because a handgun is only good to fight your way to your rifle (maybe?). So this question led us to have a discussion on the full spectrum of home defense, inside and out.

There is a lot to this story that is simply frightening. Government overreach, the vilification of patriots, media bias, the unreasonable use of "terrorism" charges, and not to mention the fact that two US citizens are being forced to return to jail after already serving the time that was originally handed down to them! ALICE Training Institute shares some startling facts about workplace violence from the Bureau of Labor Statistics - In the past decade, from 2003-2013 there have been 8,987 violent acts resulting in death at the workplace and 51% of these have been gun related. Even if you are the perfect co-worker and shower everyone with kindness and respect, you still may face a potentially deadly situation at work since nearly 80% of workplace homicides don't have anything to do with the workplace at all. With more and more stories of workplace violence, mass shootings and homegrown radicalized terrorist attacks hitting our news feed every morning, it's time to seriously consider being prepared for the worst no matter where you are, even if it means carrying a gun into a gun free zone. Today we discuss the pros and cons of deciding to carry a gun into the most common gun free zone most people will face on a daily basis - the workplace.

We are back in front of the mic after a short break. This episode was actually recorded in conjunction with the Zombie Apocalypse episodes two weeks ago and I planned for it to be released during my trip to Mexico but I just didn't have time to edit and schedule all three episodes that we recorded.

After I got back from vacation I had a death in the family so that set us back another week. So, due to time constraints this is a raw and unedited episode. There are jokes and references that some may find offensive but  it's a glimpse into the Wasted Ammo Studio before all the editing.
