I was inspired to start my own business and become a independent distributor. However, the amount of money needed to get started was insane.  However, it didn't stop my wife from embarking on her own business as a riding instructor and stable owner. Understanding why we do anything, I believe needs us to return to the sauce. This means returning to the time when we were passionate about what we were about to start. I can remember starting my first real job and even though it was a long time ago, my why was simple. I wanted to get enough money to go out with my friends and be able to afford to take my girlfriend on a date which entailed more than sitting in the park.

However, this was not a job with passion, it was a means to an end and at the time I was happy with that as most of use are.

My first passion was music.

I purchased my first guitar when I was 15 years old and when I was about 16 a friend of a friend asked me to join their band as a bass player. I loved it!!! We played local gigs and even backed a few headliners at the local university. The buzz on stage was electric and the relationship we built still exist today.

Simpler times meant simpler whys

However, business or higher aspirations requires more than short term goals of hanging out with friends. Yes, chatting up girls after a gig and playing in bands even if the music inspired me to be more than I was. Since then I have become a passionate advocate of network marketing and MLM so the importance of why I do what I do has been vital to my success.

My name is Steven Jackson and I was born in a city in the south of England called Southampton. I enjoyed a pleasant childhood with my mother, father and a younger brother. On the whole I remember that life was happy and most of the time we had enough money. I can’t remember a situation when we were hungry even though I do recall my mother searching for coins in the kitchen draws so she could buy milk. Nowadays I put that memory down to the fact my mother is Scottish and as tight as a otter's pocket.

On the other hand, school was not so good. I was not a great pupil, but I managed to scrape through with passes and unbelievably gained an apprenticeship in metalwork for a local company. I think my dark sense of humour came from them years, which I still have a bit today even though I have been away from that life for many years. However, I have fond memories and friendships that still endure today.

My apprenticeship years seemed to move slowly until a friend of a friend asked me to join his band. I didn’t realise it then, but it was a key point in my journey or that something that allow us to say “I can be more than I am” rather than just vegetating into the same old existence. Even then I dreaded becoming my father and that is not to say that he was not a successful person in his own right, but to aspire to be another 9 to 5 employee was something I really did not want.

The years went by and I completed my apprenticeship, I purchased a house with a girlfriend and was enjoying playing the band circuit, but I was still in my mind missing something, even though I couldn’t see what it was at the time. So, I decided to return to school by starting an Open University degree course, which as I found was right out of my comfort zone, but being out of my comfort zone gave me the strength to pursue goals outside my normal social circle.

In the United Kingdom at the moment over 14 million people do work remotely jobs or businesses. That is a massive investment in the home based industry and since the pandemic in 2020 it is only going getting bigger. Some work part-time, others full time, some are self employed and other work for the man. This new world order of flexible and remote working seems to be here to stay. However, what is the reality and can I be apart of it?

A question I have been asking many of my friends is how challenging has this pandemic been on their lives? It has been hard on all of us and even harder on others where their work demands that they leave the home. Most tell me of the struggles and how family life and personal relationships have suffered under the strain of sitting around all day and the reduction of money for even basic things.

Fortunately, for my wife and I, we have been working from home for over 20 years in the UK and even in Spain and Europe. The desire to live in Spain was the impudence that gave us the idea that working from home was going to be our best mode of income. It simply ticks all the boxes for me and my wife and in the passed allowed us to live and work where the thought took us.

While writing this page I reflected on our lifestyle and from our point of view how lucky we have been. I don't mean in regards to the pandemic, but simply the freedom we have had already. We still need to get up in the morning and start work, because working from home doesn't change our responsibilities. I like to get up about an hour before my wife so I can make coffee and breakfast and then ease myself into the day. My wife on the other hand is not a morning person and so needs a coffee before doing anything.  We have found that regardless if we are working in Spain, the UK or anywhere else in Europe we have our personal working areas and timetables.

Why am I telling you all this?

Working in the UK or Europe remotely means doing the same thing that you may have been doing in your office job. There is still all the responsibilities and stresses of a normal job, but you are in a home environment. However, for us it has allowed us to travel and work where ever there is a fast enough internet connection. The pandemic simply made us realise how lucky we were, while friends and family went into a melt down. However, even though my wife and I weathered the storm very well, suggesting to family and friends that they could try working or running a business online and at home was rebutted.

Why are jobs working from home on computer not for everyone?

We do get it!

We have been doing home working for many years and understand the risks. Family and friends have not and have seen us as slightly mad for living and working out of a laptop. Unfortunately, we are all at a societal bypass where the decisions we make today will determine our future. In my opinion, even if one of the family works remotely, they will be able to bring in some extra money. This may be enough to save the family from financial meld down and give a sense of hope for everyone involved.

MLM recruitment needs to change

The reality is MLM recruitment is difficult and a soul-destroying method of making money. For many years I have been working in this industry and pursued my goals using these traditional network marketing methods. If you don’t know what that means, it is a very time consuming method of building relationships and generally bother friends and family members to join your business and buy your products.

After a while, like many of us, we became unhappy with the results. Well since the internet arrived some of us have taken an alternative journey into affiliate and online marketing and then returned to network marketing with new ideas on how to make money in the MLM industry via the internet.

During a recent conversation with some of my network marketing college, I realized that the MLM industry as well as their distributors are well behind the times. There is a massive residence against using much more than the basic online methods in the name of duplication. My name is Steve Jackson and some years ago I looked at the network marketing for the first time. I had a simple goal to make enough money to travel the globe. I didn’t want much, but enough to pay for my flights and somewhere clean to sleep. I wasn’t looking for a five star lifestyle and definitely not anything close to the best paid jobs in the world. The beginning starting life over after losing everything

I remember that life in my early years being happy and content. My mother worked for the local housing office and my father worked in the local power station as a Project engineer. We always had nice gifts for Christmas and there was always food on the table. I don't recall a situation when we were hungry and my parents were married until my father died a few years ago.

On the other hand, school was not so good. I was not a great pupil, but I managed to scrape through with passes and unbelievably gained an apprenticeship in metalwork for a local company.

Having a trade gave me the money to have a comfortable life but sometimes that is not enough when a countries economic situation changes for the worse.

However, being single the pressure to provide was not really there. The only person one needs to care about is oneself, though the taboo of being unemployed and short of cash all the time is something that our pride can only stand for a short time.

As a young person we want to be able to achieve some kind of success if not for ourselves, for our friends and family, so to some extents this is a culture imperative to aspire to the standards of our peers. However, as I found out in my later year bouncing back is a lot harder when we have our own family to care and provide for. This is when we truly need to succeed after losing everything and starting again, because if we do not everything will be lost including everything we love so dearly.

I can’t remember why I choose to be a landing page blogger and online marketer, but I can recall thinking it was going to be a lot of work, which in reality it is. There was of course the idea that it could be possible to make a lot of money from my laptop and anywhere in the world, which existed me as well as the nerdy concept that I could automate everything and be financially successful.

About Steven Jackson

Steven Jackson was born in a city in the south of England called Southampton. He enjoyed a pleasant childhood with his mother, father and a younger brother and on the whole, had a happy upbringing. 

On the other hand, school was not so good. He was not a great pupil, but he managed to scrape through with passes and unbelievably gained an apprenticeship with a local company. He still has a dark and wacky sense of humor from those days, which has helped him through the ups and downs of being an entrepreneur in the network marketing industry. 

In his youth he was asked to join a band by a friend even though he had never played anything before, being the person he was, he jumped at the chance to try something new and exciting. He didn’t realize it then, but music was going to be a pivotal stage in his life allowing him to understand that there was a possibility that his future was going to be different than his parents.  

Steven has been an entrepreneur, network marketer and online marketer for the last 25 years, because he feels it ticks all the boxes for him and gives him the financial freedom and the global independence he has always desired, which means he can choose where and how he lives and works.

However, before success knocked on Steven’s door, he likes to remind everyone, that life was not always so easy. He recalls, there was a time when things were so bad that he was sitting on the floor of his apartment with nothing but a single lamp and an old TV, eating roast chicken out of a bag. Steven said, “well it is easy to look back with nostalgia and say it was a learning experience and I guess it was because we were happy, as the Monty Python's sketch goes”. He saw these times as a place of reflection and even though he did not believe he was anywhere near the bottom, the bottom does have a habit of creeping up on you.

The early days….

Steven Jackson has been very lucky because he has the support of his lovely wife Anja who herself has been involved many years ago in network marketing with great success, so she understands how difficult but rewarding this business is. However, even in our darkest days we had faith that we could achieve big things as long as we really desired success. 

Today, Steven and his wife Anja enjoy a comfortable lifestyle in Finland and in Spain.
