" Hard-luck stories can have happy endings. Especially in Francine Honey’s world. The bilingual Ontario singer-songwriter’s third album To Be Continued… features tales of heartache and struggle, loss and crisis — many drawn from her own life. Along the way, the down-to-earth performer also shares two fundamental lessons: You are not alone, and hope is always around the corner. A songwriter since childhood, and a former civil servant, Francine packs a lifetime of emotion into every song. Her music has taken her across Canada and the U.S., and on to the U.K., Switzerland and Italy. "

Dolly Dunn was born ( Christina Donahue ) on May 9th 1965 in a small town called Boyds Cove Newfoundland Canada. Her parents were Patrick Donahue of Boyds Cove and Bernadette Lynch of Island Harbour Fogo, both parents were Irish so that makes her all Irish, and she is the youngest girl of 11 siblings. Her love of country music started when she was 7, singing in church and school functions and to anyone who would listen. She received her first guitar at age 12 as a gift from her mother. She taught herself how to play and country was all she wanted to do. She moved to Alberta in her early Twenties with dreams of still singing for anyone who gave her the time. She has been married twice and has one son Rex LeDrew Jr age 24. Now twice divorced and single she still had that dream but not much faith in herself. Until someone told her that she had what it takes so she played at local clubs and did karaoke for years. At age 50 Dolly Dunn is taking steps to make a go of her music career and do what she loves to do and that is write and sing country music the old fashion way. She is a very simple and humble person who would give away her happiness for someone else to smile.....

Produced by multiple GRAMMY Award winning Producer, Larry Klein (Joni Mitchell, Tracy Chapman, Madeleine Peyroux, Melody Gardot, Norah Jones); it is more than a jazz record. This is a record I have been wanting to make for years. Myles Goodwyn joins Carla on her birthday for a down home chat about all things music, April Wine, the Blues, and whatever else feels right! If your an April Wine fan and a Myles Goodwyn fan, you don't want to miss this down to earth chat.
"Singer, guitarist, writer, producer and leader of the band April Wine, Myles Goodwyn’s passion and drive shaped and directed the group from its earliest beginnings. He is the only remaining original member of the group since the inception of April Wine in 1969. Goodwyn grew up poor and is the classic “small-town kid makes good” success story. As a young teen, Goodwyn honed his skills, playing in bands such as East Gate Sanctuary and Woody’s Termites. From the very beginning, Goodwyn plotted the course of the band. His unique but classic rock voice gives April Wine a distinct and immediately recognizable sound. Ranging from hard rock classics to soulful ballads, his vocal range and style can really grab a hold of you. His songwriting skills are prolific.
He has penned virtually every April Wine song. He has a knack with words and seems to have an ability to write a catchy tune at will. Through the ups and downs and changing faces of the band, the one thing that has remained constant is Myles Goodwyn. Even today and with their latest release and shift in direction, his voice is as strong and apparent as ever.
Now in its fourth decade, April Wine continues to charge ahead as one of Canada’s very best rock bands. And as far as rock history goes, Myles Goodwyn is already a living legend (especially in the annals of Canadian rock history), being known as one of the all-time greats.
In Just Between You and Me, Goodwyn shares the story of his upbringing, first at home in rural New Brunswick and then in the music business as the lead singer of one of Canada’s most popular bands ever, April Wine."

"It’s my goal to change the world’s mentality about what they're programmed to think is beautiful.
"A few years ago, I met with a ‘big wig’ in the music industry who said I had to lose 90 pounds, get a space between my legs, and change my hair and my clothes. He told me the way I looked wasn’t accepted in the 'pop music industry’ and it was going to be too hard for me.
"Last I heard he's moved into graphic design and I’m still here releasing this video... Isn’t that funny?!"
And it wasn't an isolated incident – others said similar things to Kay and maybe now they’re learning how misguided they were.
Following this year’s release of her debut full-length album, 11 O’Clock Number, its first single "Weight On My Shoulders" won the Canadian Songwriters Award for Best Adult Contemporary/Pop Song.
It may be her debut solo album, but Kay is no stranger to the scene; in addition to high praise from judges Howard Stern, Heidi Klum, Howie Mandel and Spice Girl Mel B as an advanced contestant on Season 10 of America’s Got Talent, the Cambridge, Ontario-born artist has also performed with Stevie Wonder’s band at a David Foster concert, k.d. lang at the Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony, The Tenors at the Toronto International Film Festival, and Cee Lo Green. She was a member of the award-winning a cappella group, Eh440, and starred in the Broadway National Tour of Godspell.
Stacey's unique and powerful voice paired with a machine-gun rapping style has garnered her online videos millions of views, including one particular viral sensation — over 40 million views when she spontaneously performed one of Busta Rhymes' fastest raps in the aisle at a Walgreens in South Carolina.
The video was shared instantly, and Chris Brown wrote an article about her talents on his website. Kay's covers of hit songs have garnered the respect and recognition from the original artists including Meghan Trainor, Iggy Azalea, Jennifer Hudson, and Mystikal, who have shared her videos on social media.
Recently, Stacey Kay was excited to learn that one of her influences, Fergie, featured her in a Glamour Magazine video. The video shows Fergie watching a Stacey Kay cover of her song You Already Know while raving about Kay's vocal ability and charisma.
“I’ve never been a fan of the saying ‘it’s what’s on the inside that counts’ because then that implies that the outside may not look good. I’ve always thought that so many people of all different shapes and sizes are hot. So why do I think that I have to look different for people to think I’m attractive?
"Just because most people who are famous have a similar look, it doesn’t mean it has to continue being like that," Kay says. "It’s 2018 and humans have made a lot of positive changes, so why not make a change about what we’ve been brainwashed to think is beautiful.
"I’m not here to try and make you cry or feel bad for me," Kay says. "Finding your confidence can be a really fun and exciting thing and it can be both powerful and lighthearted at the same time. That’s why I made this video."

Carla checks in with Barney Bentall as he is releasing his newest album after a 5 year hiatus!
" The Drifter & The Preacher is the great paradox of a nomadic homebody, and a musical tour de force that could prove to be truly defining for a musician, a songwriter, a friend, a father, a brother, a husband and a son… coming face-to-face with a life lived. Lead single "The Miner," which was co-written and features his son Dustin Bentall, will be immediately available as a download to fans who pre-order the album on iTunes.
Barney Bentall hit the music scene as the lead man for Barney Bentall and The Legendary Hearts back in 1988, with his self-titled debut CD soaring to the top of the charts, reaching platinum status in Canada and establishing Bentall as a must-see as a concert draw.
The last couple of years have seen Barney Bentall translate his tremendous ability and deep introspection into his 10th studio album, which is an ambitious effort accomplished by one of the greatest storytellers of our time. "This was written for my father-in-law. Bar none, one of the most interesting and intelligent people I have met,” says Bentall. “He taught me many valuable things and gave me the best friend I have. He died with his boots on at the age of ninety-three. I wrote this at my ranch shortly after on a star-studded night.”
While plenty of musicians have told stories of their family, Bentall possesses the emotion and interpretive skills to reveal an eclectic range that few could muster, and no more so than in the first single, “The Miner.” Says Bentall, “My son Dustin is a travelling musician. ‘The Miner’ marks the first time we wrote a song together… It started out as a story about Dustin’s grandfather and as a continuation of ‘The Drifter‘. Songs often have a mind of their own and… ‘Life goes where it goes’. When the dust had settled, we ended up with a story loosely based on a good friend of ours. He, much like the two of us, is driving down the road less travelled.”
The Drifter & The Preacher also features a collaboration with Jim Cuddy of Blue Rodeo on "Won’t Change The World." Bentall says, “Sometimes a song is the only tool in the chest when you are trying to get back into someone’s favour. My good friend Jim Cuddy jumped in on this one. I swear, that boy gets behind an old tube microphone in a recording studio and puts on a clinic every time.”
Inspiration set in not only from his family, but good friends, too. “The Ocean and You (A song for John Mann)” is a stirring song paying tribute to the Spirit Of The West singer. “Around the time we were forming the Legendary Hearts, we had this rustic studio in a millwork shop in the False Creek area in Vancouver. It was a sketchy part of town at the time, but heaven to us. Back in the day, that studio was our Clubhouse. We wrote and demoed ‘Something To Live For’ there, among many other songs. The founding members of Spirit Of The West -- Geoffrey Kelly and John Mann -- became lifelong friends of mine in the early ‘80s. We made their first record in that studio and had a wonderful party or two. Along with our partners/wives, it was an unforgettable and cherished circle. I wrote this song about John and his ongoing courageous fight with early onset Alzheimer’s. It is also about the equally courageous role of John’s partner Jill. God bless ya, Johnny.”
