- 88 - S4E9: Valley of Headless Men
S4 E9: Nahanni Valley the Valley Of Headless Men Money makes people do crazy things. Like when a handful of men in the early to mid 1900's that decided they were going to go to one of the most remote area of the Northwest Territory in Canada to sift some gold out of a stream. It worked well for some but we only care about the people that died; Some of them without a head. It's weird, it's almost Halloween, and this is kind of a Halloween episode. S4 E8: Time Travelers It's time to come clean. The truth is Jacob and Connor are time travelers. They traveled back in time and under the moniker "What The? Now, in this alternative time line, the boys ban together to create an equally trashy episode and save the world as we know it from spiraling out of control. Links: Counting Cryptids Youtube Channel

S4 E6: Pepie The Pepin Lake Monster According to local lore, a giant aquatic reptilian swims beneath the wake at Lake Pepin Minnesota. The 22-mile-long, 2-mile wide portion of the Mississippi River compares to Loch Ness in size but lacks the depth required to contain a creature the size of a plesiosaur. Is this some sort of tourist trap or a legitimate chance at being awarded $50,000? Find out right now on the latest installment of Counting Cryptids. Sorry it's been so long! On top of their slightly demonic appearance, these beings show up at strange times, behaving oddly, and then leave just as abruptly as they came. Luckily, since they are children after all, they need your permission to come in and fuck with you, so as long as you have a heart of stone and can kick the kids out into a snow storm, you should be fine. Stories of these creatures emerged several hundred years ago telling of their insatiable hunger, tremendous greed, and fondness for long pig (human flesh). While the Ebu Gogo haven't been sighted for quite some time, the region is littered with reports of small, hairy, humanoid creatures that could be related. To further validate the legend of the Ebu Gogo, in 2003 remains of an individual who would have stood about 3 feet 7 inches in height were discovered at Liang Bua on the island of Flores in Indonesia, the same area the Ebu Gogo was said to inhabit. Wed, 27 Nov 2019 - 1h 38min - 53 - S2 E21: The Beast of Bodmin Moor
S2 E21: The Beast Of Bodmin Moor This time, on Counting Cryptids: We discuss releasing animals into the wild, how little we know about europe, and a big ass cat known as The Beast of Bodmin Moor. This "beast" is pretty much just a panther, but in a place where it has no business, Europe. Though official reports maintain that "No verifiable evidence for the presence of a 'big cat' was found" there has been no shortage of sightings adding credibility to these creatures. And with recent, well documented, big cat escapes in the area, this podcaster subscribes to the belief that a particular person plotted this European panther population expansion project. S2 E20: Fresno Nightcrawlers This time, on Counting Cryptids: We discuss the pride of promenading pants, the sashaying spectral slacks, the tangential traveling trousers themselves, that's right, it's the Fresno Nightcrawlers. In 2007 (or was it in 2010? 2011? Maybe the 90's?) surveillance footage captured strange entities crossing a man's yard. S2 E19: The Djinn This time, on Counting Cryptids: We discuss the almighty djinn. One of the most powerful beings that has yet to grace our notes, the djinn are an Islamic race of spiritual beings. While their motives may very, invisibility, shape-shifting, and possession, are standard practice in djinn. While they possess many supernatural abilities, they are humbled by their earthly needs for sustenance, reproduction, and religion. To make matters worse, the djinn can sense when you are thinking about them, and in return can focus on you and take advantage of you when you become venerable, with that being said, if you are in a less than ideal place in your life right now, maybe hold off on this episode for a while. S2 E18: The Beast of Busco This time, on Counting Cryptids: We discuss CC merch, our own strange shared experience, and a tremendous turtle that transformed a town. In the late 1940's a large turtle was spotted in a small "lake" in Indiana. The turtle, later named Oscar, resembled an alligator snapping turtle, which had no business being there, as the species was thought to have been extirpated from the area. Furthermore, Oscar was estimated to be more than twice the size of the largest documented alligator snapper. As news of this record breaking reptilian began to spread, large crowds began to form on the shores of this small town, and the owner of the property prepared for a plunge. Did locals actually witness a turtle the size of a car? Or could a thicc turtle simply have been transformed into yet another fisherman's tale? S2 E16: Insectoids This time, on Counting Cryptids: We wrap up our extraterrestrial stint with the creepy-crawlies of the cosmos, Insectoids. As the name would suggest, these beings resemble earthly insects with humanoid features, most commonly portrayed as a 7-foot tall praying mantis. From being the subject of the finest of art, to setting off the Spanish inquisition, and even being cucked in the corner, there really is no limit to the number of honey pots these beings have their hand-like appendages in. This episode includes a conversation about the revolutionary artist, David Huggins. Huggins creates works of art depicting his erotic extraterrestrial experiences, most of which are paintings of him fucking aliens (and some are even a little more kinky). Thu, 12 Sep 2019 - 1h 59min - 47 - S2 E15: Reptilians
S2 E15: Reptilians This time, on Counting Cryptids: We continue to spit a bunch of shit about aliens. This time, the reptilians. Tall, scaly, and smelly, these entities are malicious, power hungry, and will stop at nothing to manipulate the human race into doing their bidding. Popularized by celebrity conspiracy theorist David Icke in the 90's, who was actively racing to ruin his own career, Icke proposed that these Reptilian Humanoids had been controlling humanity since the dawn of time. The internet has since run wild with this theory, exposing many celebrities, and nearly every politician, as a so-called "lizard person". While these claims may seem like a reach at first, and the "Reptilian Elite" may not be the first conclusion you jump to, much of the video evidence is enough to leave you scratching your head. S2 E14: Pleiadians This time, on Counting Cryptids: We continue along the extraterrestrial train, stopping in the Pleiades star cluster, to discuss the Pleiadians. These beings are said to be nearly identical to humans, with the main differences being that they are significantly more attractive, and a little bit taller. Typically being described as "Nordic looking". Unlike most of the things we talk about on the show, the Pleiadians are a kind-hearted, spiritual race, whose mission on Earth is largely that of goodwill. The kind nature of these beings has left their message susceptible to some woo-woo, New Age plunderers, taking advantage of desperate, or naive, individuals for financial gain, with claims of a higher purpose. All hippies aside, there is some strange cases of missing time, metal fragments, and even an interrupted news broadcast. Wed, 14 Aug 2019 - 1h 15min - 45 - S2 E13: The Greys
S2 E13: The Greys This time, on Counting Cryptids: We continue to loosen the definition of the word "cryptid" as we discuss the archetypal extraterrestrials affectionately known as The Greys. The Greys are a race of short-statured extraterrestrial beings with large eyes and bulbous heads who are, you guessed it, grey in color. Encounters with these entities are mostly benevolent, but sometimes can be a little more probing. Assuming most everyone is familiar with these creatures, this episode is more story heavy, with such classics as, The Betty & Barney Hill Abduction story, The Disappearance of Travis Walton, and Phil Schneider's The Great Split. And if that wasn't enough, we've also included a comprehensive overview of "how to know if you have already been abducted by an alien". Wed, 31 Jul 2019 - 1h 20min - 44 - S2 E12: Area 51
S2 E12: Area 51 This time, on Counting Cryptids: We take a step back from cryptids and explore another mysterious topic, Area 51. Recently a Facebook event was created, detailing "We will all meet up at the Area 51 Alien Center tourist attraction and coordinate our entry. If we naruto run, we can move faster than their bullets. Lets see them aliens." But that is far from the beginning of the so called "Groom Lake Facility". Built in the 1950's for Black Projects (development and testing of experimental aircraft and weapons systems), the facility wasn't officially confirmed until June 2013, under a Freedom of Information Act request. In the late 80's, a man by the name of Bob Lazar came forward claiming to have been employed at a facility called "S-4", roughly 8 miles from Area 51, reverse engineering advanced technology. He claims that the craft that he worked on was not from earth, and was extraterrestrial. Lazar describe 9 different crafts seen at the facility, and claims briefing documents stated the craft came from a planet in the Zeta Reticuli star system called ZR-3. Lazar's credentials are soon brought into question as his alleged past is erased. His Masters from MIT, and Cal Tech, his employment history, and even his birth certificate, all disappeared. Lazar's story, coupled with countless UFO sightings in the area, have made the public suspicious of the area for decades, prompting the current movement scheduled for September 2019. Is Lazar telling the truth? Was the United States Government actually attempting to reverse engineer extraterrestrial technology? And how many of the almost 2 million "attending" will actually show? S2 E11: Giants This time, on Counting Cryptids: We discuss old shit, the Most American Cryptid, and the unearthing of massive skeletons. For as long as humans have been alive, they have been digging up old shit, and sometimes that old shit, is just dead shit. And sometime that dead shit, is a grave yard of giants. Long walk for short drink of water aside, we're talking about giants. Lots of skeletons, a couple of close calls, and even a more recent ruckus. Did a separate race of exceptionally tall humanoids once coexist with homo-sapiens? Is academia actively trying to obfuscate these findings? Could it just be a misleading art instillation? While there have been many reports, photos and videos of the alleged beast, no one is sure what is under the large lake in British Columbia, Canada. Dating back to the Native tribes of the area, the Ogopogo, or Naitaka, was seen as a lake spirit but when Susan Allison saw the lake monster in real life, a slew of sightings poured in over the next 146 years. S2 E9: Dover Demon This time, on Counting Cryptids: We discuss why animals eyes glow, more alien shit, and a strange series of sightings that occurred over a 24-hour period in Dover, Massachusetts in 1977. That's right, the Dover Demon. Standing at roughly 4 feet tall, this glowing-eyed, watermelon-headed, wet sandpaper-y, monstrosity has left us with nothing but questions. This one creature was spotted over a two day period, on three separate occasions, by four people. Every time this creepy, big-headed, orange guy (not Trump) was seen, it was within a two mile stretch of the same road. No photos were taken, no evidence captured, and no one has seen the creature since. Was it simply adolescent alcoholism? Or perhaps, an elaborate hoax, corroborated by a few angsty teenagers? S2 E8: J'ba Fofi This time, on Counting Cryptids: We discuss what is, without a doubt, the creepiest cryptid ever, J'ba Fofi. Commonly refereed to as the Congolese giant spider, this absolute horror is basically just a five to six foot tarantula, with massive fangs, and a deadly bite. It is said to be very fast, spin massive webs, and known to kill humans. Natives detail mundane information about the life cycle of this creature, such as; what its eggs look like, what color they are when they hatch, and the sizes they reach, suggesting they regard it as being a very real, flesh and blood creature. Fortunately, for those short on nightmare fuel, sightings of giant spiders have recently been popping up all over the globe, from the United States, to Papua New Guinea, and even England. Wed, 22 May 2019 - 57min - 39 - S2 E7: Atmospheric Beasts
S2 E7: Atmospheric Beasts This time, on Counting Cryptids: We discuss, UFOs, clouds, and the infamous Atmospheric Beasts. For the uninitiated, Atmospheric Beasts is a term used to describe giant, amoeba shaped, creatures that live in, you guessed it, the atmosphere. Basically flying jellyfish. It is suggested that these, mostly invisible, beasts are carnivorous, and potentially responsible for a slew of animal mutilations, and missing persons. When one of these creatures dies, they become more visible, and their bodies condense into a quickly evaporating, translucent jelly, affectionately known as star jelly. Star jelly, which is a substance that has been found all over the world dating back to the 14th century, is a well-known phenomenon that is tied to meteor showers, bacteria, and even frog spawn. Could these centuries old mysteries be explained by creatures that have been living above our heads this whole time? Are these beings native to Earth, or could they have come from the stars themselves? And just what the hell is frog spawn? The Flatwoods Monster, also known as the Green Monster☺, was spotted in West Virginia, amidst a UFO flap in 1952. Witnesses watched as a strange ball of light fell from the sky, in a rather peculiar manor. Upon finding the object, they were confronted by a malicious mist, and an enormous, enigmatic entity. S2 E5: Organism 46-b This time, on Counting Cryptids: We discuss secret alien bases, movie plots, and what could be the most horrific "discovery" ever, Organism 46-b. The story of 46-b, better known as the Vostok Monster, was born from an actual scientific expedition, in which researches drilled into the ice in Antarctica for decades to access a sub-glacial lake, that had been covered in ice for an estimated 20 million years. Upon examination of the lake, the crew was met by something horrible; a 33 foot long, 14 tentacled, squid-thing, that was out for blood. The creature allegedly killed several members of the crew before finally being captured, and sent off to the Russian government to be examined, and potentially weaponized. While contradictory information, lack of evidence, and bad science point to a hoax; the unnamed crew members, government conspiracies, "missing scientist", and obfuscated information lend credence to this creepy creatures continued existence. S2 E4: Montauk Monster This time, on Counting Cryptids: We discuss crazy dreams, dead raccoons, and conspiracy theories, as we attempt to unpack the story of the Montauk Monster. In the summer of 2008, just outside of Montauk, New York, a creature washed ashore resembling a raccoon, or a pig, or a turtle, or a dog, or an alien, depending on who you ask. The naked creature was said to be slightly larger than a cat and had one main characteristic that ruled out the above suggestions, a beak. Before authorities arrived on the scene, a man walking the beach scooped up the creature, mumbling something about mounting it on his wall, and disappeared. With mystery surrounding the origins of this creature, the whereabouts of its body, and the near by Animal Disease Center, this episode may be our deepest dive yet! So join us, Cryptid Counters, as we slur our way though another episode of the infamous internet program, Counting Cryptids. Wed, 27 Mar 2019 - 1h 29min - 35 - S2 E3: Wampus Beast
S2 E3: Wampus Beast This time, on Counting Cryptids: We discuss our thoughts on therianthropy, how little we (personally) know about native wildlife, and a half-woman, half-cougar, hybrid known as the Wampus Beast. The Wampus Beast, or Wampus Cat, is, by some accounts, an 800 pound cat patrolling the Appalachian mountains, searching for a campfire to ambush. Others claim it has native origins, telling of a woman cursed for following the men into the forest, the cougar jokes could nearly write themselves! But with little to no (and really I mean no) actual evidence being presented, other than the tenuous eyewitness accounts of a man with a television program, could this all be fabricated? Is there actually a Native American werecat hunting men by the light of their own campfires? is it a localized version of the boogeyman? Or, better yet, simply an excuse to get wasted with the boys? The thylacine, better known as the Tasmanian Tiger, was officially declared extinct in 1936 when the last known specimen (who's name was probably not Benjamin) died in captivity at the Hobart zoo. Over the last 83 years, hundreds, if not thousands, of individuals have reportedly witnessed this romanticized marsupial, yet no irrefutable evidence has been presented to the masses. Could it be as simple as an obscured fox, a mangy Kangaroo, or an overly large quoll? We're not so sure.. So join us, Cryptid Counters, as we slur our way though another episode of the infamous internet program, Counting Cryptids. AKA The big D? S2 E1: Boo Hag This time, on Counting Cryptids: We kick off the second season with some new tunes, Jacob's plumbing adventures, and a listener suggested topic; the Boo Hag. A Southern take on the standard hag recipe: a dash of soul sucking, a pinch of skin stealing, a hint of women's suffrage, and a whole lot of riding. Jokes aside, if a Boo Hag takes a liking to you, it will follow you home and feed on your "life force" in your sleep. Some unlucky individuals have even, allegedly, ended up marrying a Boo Hag. Contender #25 - Santa Claus This time, on Counting Cryptids: We discuss a figure so fantastic, it has taken over an entire season (winter. Not like a season of the show). The man with the northern most pole. The Crimson Crusader himself. Santa Claus! Jolly, old, Saint Nick began his good deeds in the 4th century, helping those in need, often financially. But as time passed, he was eventually Co-opted by the Coca-Cola Soft Drink company in the 40s. They rebuilt him. They have the technology. They made him better than he was before. Better, stronger, faster. Will Santa triumph as this seasons supreme entity? Join us, Cryptid Counters, as we press the limits of what can be considered Cryptozoological research for the last time this year. Merry Christmas! Happy Holidays! Contender #24 - Krampus This time, on Counting Cryptids: We start our Holiday mini series, with the crack of a whip (well.. a stick, but that isn't a saying). Our first "Christmas Cryptid" is a half-goat, half-demon, creature, known as Krampus. Krampus serves as, basically the inverse of Santa: visiting, and punishing all of the bad children, either by physical abuse, eating them, or just dragging them to hell. Happy Holidays! Contender #23 - Gobblesquatch & Friends This time, on Counting Cryptids: We discuss the most creative cryptid since the Jackalope; the mighty Gobblesquatch. This hunter-killer of a bird has mastered not only the art of eating a man whole, but of flight, and of ventriloquism (and making those who eat it incredibly sleepy, post mastication). Silly stories aside, looking into reports from Colombian folklore could add some validity to this veritable turducken of an episode. In 2009 an image was created that seemed to haunt people to the point of physical manifestation. Individuals began to become obsessed with this entity, many unsure of its origins, or if it was even real. Then, in 2012, two preteens stabbed their friend 19 times in an attempt to appease the Slender Man, turning these fun photo manipulation festivities, into a full on frenzy. Contender #20 - Shadow People (Sorta) This time, on Counting Cryptids: We manage to slur our way through an episode while hardly mentioning the topic, Shadow People. All over the world people are seeing shadows of... well, people. These beings typically take the form of a silhouette of a human, but only the silhouette. No face, just a shape (and sometimes a hat?). We then discovered that one of our close friends, Morgan, has had a brush with one of these creatures (along with a myriad of other weird happenings). Contender # 19 - The Van Meter Visitor This time, on Counting Cryptids: We pander to, yet another, festival audience as we cover our first local crypid, the Van Meter Visitor. For one chilling week in 1903, a tall, humanoid creature with large, bat-like wings, and a single horn atop its head (which emits a brilliant light), terrorized this small Iowa town, leaving mostly broken windows, and bad smells in its wake. This, seemingly nocturnal, being has been shot by nearly everyone in town, but never once seemed phased. Is this an unknown or forgotten species? Is it a fourth dimensional entity? For nearly a century, this winged creature has been spotted in the moments leading up to tragedy, leaving people as curious as they are cautious. Collapsing bridges, mine cave-ins, and even the Fukushima nuclear melt down, the Mothman has been in attendance at some terrible events, but is all as it seems?
