  • 32 - Life as a Little Person in Jamaica with Travis “Short Piece”

What is it really like navigating life in Jamaica as a little person?

In this episode of the Crazy Jamaican Bwoy Podcast, Anthony sits down with Travis, aka Short Piece, for an honest conversation about living with achondroplasia.

Travis talks about growing up with the condition, being underestimated by others, experiencing bullying and discrimination, navigating everyday situations such as public transportation, shopping for clothes and finding employment, and developing the confidence to stand up for himself.

He also gets candid about dating and relationships, including his experiences approaching women, dating taller women, and some of the assumptions people make about little people.

The conversation also turns to accessibility and government support in Jamaica, with Travis sharing his own experiences and what he believes could be improved for people with disabilities.

It’s a conversation about much more than height — it’s about independence, confidence, relationships, respect, and refusing to let other people define what you're capable of.

  • 31 - Inside Chain of Power: Jamaica’s New Supernatural Thriller 🇯🇲

Jamaican filmmaking is entering a new era — and Chain of Power is trying something we rarely see from the local industry: a full Jamaican supernatural thriller. 🇯🇲🎬

On this episode of the Crazy Jamaican Boy Podcast, Anthony sits down with members of the cast and creative team behind Chain of Power to talk about how the movie came together, the inspiration behind its supernatural story, the struggles of independently funding a Jamaican film, casting hundreds of hopeful actors, creating visual effects on a limited budget, and their ambitions for the future of Jamaican cinema.

We’re joined by Lushon, the writer/director behind the project, Skye, co-writer and contributor to the movie’s soundtrack, and Stacey-Ann, one of the film’s lead actors.

They reveal how a mysterious necklace inspired the original story, why the project changed from a series into a movie, how the production was largely self-funded, and why Jamaican filmmakers shouldn’t be afraid to explore genres beyond the stories we traditionally see on screen.

We also get into the bigger conversation:

Can Jamaica develop a film industry capable of competing internationally?

Why don’t we see more Jamaican supernatural, fantasy, and genre films?

And what will it take for Jamaican movies to reach bigger audiences around the world?

🔥 PLUS: Stick around until the end for a hilarious Red Flag / Green Flag game where things get VERY heated over first-date bills, dating apps, deleting messages, thirst traps, body counts, open relationships, threesomes and more. 😂🚩

  • 30 - Quera South on STEW PEAS, Christianity & The Future of Jamaican Film 🇯🇲

Fresh off her standout performance as Marcia in STEW PEAS, Jamaican actress Quera South joins the Crazy Jamaican Bwoy Podcast for an honest conversation about the years of work, sacrifice, rejection, and faith behind her growing career.

Quera takes us back to the beginning — dreaming of becoming an actress as a child, joining UDAS at UWI and eventually landing a role in the acclaimed Jamaican film SPRINTER, her first experience on a major film set.

She also reflects on entering Jamaican theatre, being mentored by the late Trevor Nairne, learning from some of Jamaica’s theatre greats and being inspired by actress Camille Davis.

Quera eventually stepped behind the scenes as well, writing and producing The Curious Case of Time, which went on to win Best New Jamaican Play.

Then we get into STEW PEAS. 👀

Quera reveals why she initially had reservations about playing Marcia, why she asked to play another character, and how stepping outside her comfort zone ultimately stretched her as an actress.

We also discuss the state of the Jamaican film industry, why Jamaican audiences need to support local productions and why Quera believes there is reason to be optimistic about the future of Jamaican film and television.

The conversation then gets deeply personal as Quera shares the story of becoming a Christian, the spiritual experience that changed her life, and how her relationship with God now affects the acting roles she is willing to accept.

She also talks about upcoming projects including Kingston Chicks, Marriage Clause and Never Go Back, her interest in hosting and what she hopes to accomplish next.

This episode is about much more than becoming famous. It’s about pursuing your calling, developing your craft, staying true to your convictions and helping build a stronger Jamaican creative industry. 🇯🇲

  • 29 - From Actress to Magistrate with Sashawna Thompson

Award-winning Jamaican attorney, actress, writer, producer and magistrate Sashawna Thompson joins Anthony Tracey for a candid conversation about building a life that makes room for both professional success and creative fulfilment.

Sashawna shares how she survived the pressures of law school, rejected opportunities that undervalued her qualifications, and began working independently as an attorney during the COVID-19 pandemic. A WhatsApp message eventually encouraged her to apply for the magistracy in Belize—an opportunity she initially believed she was too young to receive.

She discusses moving away from her family, adjusting to life in Belize, presiding over criminal, civil and family matters, and learning to trust herself in a position carrying enormous responsibility.

Sashawna also reflects on winning the Prime Minister’s National Youth Award, nominating herself for the honour, balancing law with acting and producing, and why Jamaican creatives need the freedom to experiment without being afraid of criticism.

The episode ends with an entertaining game of Red Flag or Green Flag, covering first-date bills, dating someone who earns less, friendships with exes, sharing locations, dating coworkers and checking a partner’s phone.

A funny, inspiring and refreshingly honest conversation about ambition, identity, relationships and betting on yourself.
