  • 227 - Tiktoker shot his own wife to death | Ali & Ana Abulaban

Ali Abulaban was a young man with thousands of followers on social media and a promising career ahead of him. He was married to Ana Abulaban, and their life seemed perfect online. However, reality was far different.

Despite being married since 2017 and having a 5-year-old daughter, by 2021, Ali and Ana were in the early stages of a divorce. On October 21st, Ali made a decision that would change everything: he entered her apartment and took his wife’s life.

His trial took some time to commence, but now in September 2024 the final decision has been made. Today, we will explore the case of Ali and Ana Abulaban.

  • 226 - The Deadly Paradise: Why So Many Never Return from Koh Tao?

📱 Notification of new cases on Instagram:
    https://www.instagram.com/criminalarchives/

Today's episode is about the island of Koh Tao, in Thailand, an island considered by many to be paradisiacal, but one with a dark side. This place, a destination for countless backpackers, often ends up being the last stop of their lives.

If you're here because of Hannah and David’s case, you already know what I’m talking about. But if you’re hearing about the island for the first time in this episode, I need to give you a quick summary.

Thailand is one of many countries in Asia that depends heavily on tourism, and losing visitors from around the world would devastate the local economy. But is the local police really capable of doing anything to keep tourism alive?

After those accused of the crimes against Hannah and David were convicted in 2015, an anonymous profile on YouTube posted a video about five other mysterious deaths that had occurred on the same island in the years leading up to that date. The video intrigued me so much that I began to research these cases and discovered even more, and that’s why I decided to make an extra episode for you.

Today, I will present more than ten suspicious deaths in recent years, all involving tourists. Practically all of them were concluded as accidents, natural causes, drowning, or the victim taking their own life.

So, pay close attention to the cases I’m about to present, and be very careful if you ever choose Koh Tao Island as your holiday destination, because it could be your last.

  • 225 - Murder on the Beach: The Hannah Witheridge & David Miller Tragedy

📱 Notification of new cases on Instagram:

The island of Koh Tao in Thailand is considered by many to be a paradise, but it is a paradise with a dark side. This place, a popular destination for tourists seeking beautiful beaches, drinks, parties, and music, has become a meeting point for people from different parts of the world. Unfortunately, many of them do not return home alive.

In today's case, I will present the story of Hanna Witheridge and David Miller, two British tourists who, in 2014, while in a secluded spot and believing they were alone, were sharing an intimate moment, when two immigrants approached them with a hoe, and committed an act of brutality that is difficult to describe.

This crime was neither the first nor the last, but it stands out among the many mysteries of the island. It was this case that brought to light a series of crimes committed against tourists, incidents that had been practically covered up by local police in an attempt to protect the island’s tourism industry.

Koh Tao, once remembered as one of the most paradisiacal islands in the world, is now regarded by many as the Island of Death.

  • 224 - Justice Denied: The Assault That Ended Daisy Coleman’s Life

📱 Notification of new cases on Instagram:

A trauma in our lives is never something we wish for, let alone expect. And just as we cannot predict when or what will traumatise us, it is impossible to know for certain how our body and mind will react. If one trauma is bad enough, imagine two. If two are worse, imagine three and unfortunately, in today’s case, the traumas are almost countless. Many traumas may not leave visible marks, yet they can create deep emotional wounds, forcing us to carry them for the rest of our lives.

Daisy experienced far too much in her life. Two deaths of family members due to car accidents in different years, abuse suffered at the hands of a classmate at school, and the bullying she endured on the streets, at school, and on social media, for taking legal action against the most popular boy in school. She was then forced to remain silent so as not to jeopardise the trial. Her mother lost her job because of the controversy that “her daughter brought to the city,” the local police failed to offer proper support, and the suspect received a ridiculous sentence.

This is the story of Daisy Coleman. A girl who faced many highs and lows in her life, but the accumulation of all this pain became too much to bear. I hope this case makes us reflect on how much we can be responsible for someone else’s life, especially when what that person needs most is simply help.

  • 223 - Inside the Banned Tapes of Ricardo López: Björk’s Obsessed Stalker

📱 Notification of new cases on Instagram:

Obsession is the poison of the mind. When we become obsessive about something, reasoning takes a backseat, and any logical attempt is left aside in favor of a voracious and insatiable desire to obtain something that is often unattainable.

One of the most common objects of obsession are celebrities, precisely because they have greater media exposure, their image is widely publicized around the world, and, consequently, they are difficult to reach physically. Some people end up creating a strong emotional bond with these public figures, but this bond can turn into an “idealization”, ich then evolves into passion or adoration, and finally into obsession.

Here on the channel, I have already covered two cases on this topic. One was that of singer Christina Grimmie, one of the finalists of The Voice United States, and another case that happened in Brazil, involving Ana Hickmann, a famous model and TV presenter. But today, we are going to analyze the case of a man's obsession with Icelandic singer Björk.

She, in turn, could not even imagine that on the other side of the ocean, in the United States, a Uruguayan man would become obsessed with her to the point of feeling betrayed and, out of revenge, devising a plan to kill her by sending a bomb through the post. The entire process of this plan, the bomb tests and the sordid thoughts of this man, who certainly needed help were recorded on tapes with hours of footage, full of unsettling and disturbing images.

Today, you will learn about the case of the obsessed Ricardo López.
