A) Why do people argue for 'evolution' or the 'big bang' instead?
B)Are those theories consistent with the Bible's teaching on creation?
C) How do we explain the apparent age of rocks, stars, and so forth?

On the day the people were looking for a perfect lamb for their Passover celebration, the 'lamb of God' approached. It wasn't a coincidence.

Mon, 08 Apr 2024 - 100 - When Christians Undergo Trials And Tribulations
You won't find 'utopia' in a warzone.
So many people misunderstand their reality. They think that this world is their home, irrespective of how little time they'll spend here. They think this world is great, irrespective of the landmines going off around them. Conversely, the Bible says that this world is filled with trials and hardships. And so, our hope is not found in this 'valley of death,' but in the Shepherd that leads us to someplace better.
Questions That We'll Answer:
A) What words of encouragement did Peter have to the suffering?
B) Why does God allow His children to be tested and tried?
C) How do we know that our story ends well? How can we be sure?

Mon, 01 Apr 2024 - 99 - What Is Love: A Story Of Passion And Sacrifice
What makes 'love' greater than faith or hope?
In 1 Corinthians 13, Paul said "now abide faith, hope, love, these three; but the greatest of these is love." So, why is 'love' superior? Well, for starters, it is the only one of those three words that applies to God. God does not have 'faith.' God does not hope. But HE DOES LOVE - in fact, HE IS LOVE!
Questions That We'll Consider:
A) What sort of mess was Corinth in, that they needed a primer on love?
B) How does love motivate us in ways that no other emotion can?
C) What sets love apart (both now and in Heaven)?

Sat, 23 Mar 2024 - 98 - The Desert: Salvation Comes To The Wasteland
The desert is home to some of the Bible's most fascinating stories.
In Acts 8, there was a caravan traveling in the desert of Judea. At its head was a pagan eunuch - someone well outside of the covenant community, but not outside of God's plan of salvation. And in order to reach this man, God sent an evangelist into the wasteland. His name was Phillip, and this is his story.
Questions That We'll Answer:
A) Why does God care for rebels, pagans, and sinners?
B) What book was the Ethiopian reading when Philip found him?
C) What hope does Acts 8 give for the 'lost people' in our lives?

Sun, 17 Mar 2024 - 97 - Why Do The Nations Rage Against God
Rebellion. Rejection. Disdain.
The nations have long rejected God's rule in favor of their own. But why? What causes the nations to rage against God, and to plot so many vain things? In today's sermon, we'll consider mankind's ongoing rebellion and God's response.
Questions That We'll Answer:
A) How do nations, leaders, and political parties foment their insurrection?
B) What does it mean that God 'sits' in Heaven and laughs at them?

God does not have any 'peons' in Heaven. He has family.
Your salvation accomplishes so much more than just 'punching your ticket' to Heaven. Rather, it includes this wonderful outcome: you are treated as family when you get there! God has no peons in Heaven, but He does have sons and daughters. "Behold what manner of love the Father has given unto us, that we should be called children of God."
Questions That We'll Answer:

Wed, 28 Feb 2024 - 95 - Mustard Seed (This Is How The Church Grows)
Mustard seeds are small. But they don't stay that way!
In Matthew 13, Jesus shared the parable of the 'mustard seed' in describing the kingdom's growth. Mustard seed start small. But in time, they grow upward and outward. Now, who did Jesus share this parable with? He shared it with a smattering of disciples on the shoreline. They were few. But fast forward to our day, and the kingdom now fills the entire planet (2.38 billion professing believers).
Questions That We'll Answer:

B) Is growth the church's main objective? What about transformation?
C) What should the church emphasize in a time of cultural upheaval?

Tue, 20 Feb 2024 - 94 - Hope For Grieving Hearts (Life After Death)
If you have lost someone that you love, it is natural to grieve.
With that said, GRIEFis NOTthe same as DESPAIR. In 1 Thessalonians 4, the Apostle Paul makes this distinction. Specifically, he says that although it is OK to lament the loss of a loved one, we do not sorrow as those who have no hope. Reunions are coming. And because of that, our 'grief' is tinged with expectation.
Questions That We'll Answer:
A) Why were the Thessalonians so confused about life after death?

C) How can we be sure of these things? What is the basis of our hope?

Fri, 16 Feb 2024 - 93 - The Night Is Spent, The Day Is At Hand
How much time do you have left?
In Romans 13, the Apostle Paul answered that question this way - not much. Specifically, Paul said that "the night is far spent, the day is at hand." Paul wanted his readers to understand the value of today. He wanted them to live as if their time was both short and precious.
Questions That We'll Answer:

Tue, 25 Jul 2023 - 71 - Faith Comes By Hearing, Hearing By The Word

Specifically, he asked this: "How then shall they call on Him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher? And how shall they preach unless they are sent?"
If you have come to a saving faith, it is because someone shared God's Word with you. Maybe it was a pastor. Maybe it was a parent. But someone told you about Jesus, and you responded in faith. And now, guess what? You've been sent to share that same gospel with others.

Life is short. Act accordingly.
In today's study, we consider Paul's words to the Corinthians, in which he referred to our mortal bodies as "earthen vessels." In other words, Paul likened our human bodies to pottery - easily broken, and not built to last. Now, is that a depressing thought? Well, it would be, except that Paul said that these "earthen vessels" house an eternal treasure, which can never be lost or destroyed. Sat, 06 May 2023 - 63 - The Thoughts That You Think (Romans 12)
The human mind is capable of great things! It is better than any computer; it is impressive in all of its ways. However, it is also riddled by sin. It forgets. It is selective in what it believes. And it desperately needs to be "renewed."
Join us for today's sermon from Romans 12.
Questions That We'll Address:
1) What does it mean to have one's mind renewed?
2) Why did Paul tell us not to be conformed to this world?

Mon, 12 Jun 2023 - 62 - Exodus: Moses In The Cleft In The Rock (Ep. 14)
Are you and I able to look upon God's face? Why or why not?
What about when we're in Heaven - will we be able to look upon God then? In today's text, we'll consider Moses' request to see God's face. And we'll also consider God's response, and how He safely tucked Moses into the 'cleft in the rock.'
Questions That We'll Answer:
A) What did the 'cleft in the rock' typify? What was it all about?
B) Why did God say He would not go with the Israelites in Exodus 33?
C) Why was Moses so concerned by this? Why did they need God's presence?Speaker: Rev. Dr. Toby B. Holt

Fri, 05 May 2023 - 61 - Galatians: You Will Reap What You Sow (Ep. 10)
A man 'reaps' what he 'sows.' As Paul wrapped up his letter to the Galatians, this was his emphasis. The things that you do and the things that you say will produce some sort of harvest - the question is, what kind will it be? Are you sowing good seeds, or are you sowing the spiritual equivalent of "gummy bears" that won't last the test of time?
Click to listen to this final sermon in our series on Galatians.
Questions That We'll Answer:
A) In this last chapter of Galatians, how does Paul conclude his letter?
B) What does it mean to 'sow' to either the flesh or the Spirit?
C) What did the cross mean to Paul? What does it mean to you and I?Speaker: Rev. Dr. Toby B. Holt

Wed, 07 Jun 2023 - 60 - Galatians: The Fruit Of The Spirit (Ep. 9)
What is the 'fruit' of the Spirit?
In Galatians 5, the Paul talks about two different kinds of fruit - good and bad. As Christians, what kind of fruit are we supposed to produce? We are to produce good fruit! We are to cultivate good and healthy behaviors that reflect our Savior. But this requires some intentionality on our part, doesn't it? It doesn't happen by accident.
Questions That We'll Answer:
A) What 'fruits' does Paul list in Galatians 5?
B) Why do some of us have an appetite for destruction?
C) Can we judge one another by our fruits? If so, how and why?Speaker: Rev. Dr. Toby B. Holt

Mon, 05 Jun 2023 - 59 - Galatians: Two Sons And Two Roads (Ep. 8)
Abraham had two sons. These sons had different mothers, and a very different future.
In this eye-opening episode, we consider the story of Abraham's two sons, Isaac and Ishmael, and their connection to the theological argument of 'works' and 'faith.' We'll see how Paul refers to these biblical figures in Galatians 4 to challenge the Judaizers about their reliance on works for salvation.
Questions That We'll Answer:
A) What role does our works have in our salvation (if any)?
B) Why does Paul refer to Abraham's sons to make his case?

In the Bible, there is a doctrine called the "doctrine of adoption," and it is one of the most encouraging teachings in the entire book. Click to learn more in our study of Galatians 4.
Questions That We'll Answer:

Wed, 31 May 2023 - 57 - Galatians: The Purpose Of God's Laws (Ep. 6)
What's the purpose of God's laws? And how did He come up with these laws - especially the ones that we don't like or don't understand?
In Galatians 3, the Apostle Paul explains the purpose of God's laws (and tells us why they are a good and necessary thing). He reminds us that these laws A) teach us, B) they restrain our sinfulness, and C) they conform us in Christ's image. We'll consider these things and more in today's study.
Questions That We'll Answer:
A) Can salvation come through "lawkeeping?"
B) In what way was the OT law a "tutor" (as Paul says in Verse 24)?

Mon, 29 May 2023 - 56 - Galatians: Who Has Bewitched You? (Ep. 5)
In Galatians 3, the Apostle Paul had a question for the Galatians – he wanted to know who had ‘bewitched’ them. In other words, Paul wanted to know who had misled them into turning from a gospel of ‘faith’ to a gospel of ‘works.’
You can't save yourself by keeping the law - and that's because a million cases of obedience cannot offset a single sin. And as Paul suggests throughout Galatians, any 'gospel' that is predicated on works is no gospel at all.
Questions That We'll Answer:
A) Why did Paul use the word "bewitched" in Chapter 3?
B) What is the reason that a gospel of works is so dangerous?
C) What are the implications for churches that preach works now?Speaker: Rev. Dr. Toby B. Holt

The reason that Paul rebuked Peter is important. We'll learn more about this 'crisis' in the early church, in today's sermon from Galatians 2.

And yet, in God's time, these same Gentiles were to be engrafted into His holy family. This was AMAZING GRACE! But it wouldn't come easy. Click to listen to Week 3 of our series in Galatians.
Questions That We'll Answer:

Fri, 19 May 2023 - 53 - Galatians: When They Won't Listen To God (Ep. 2)

When our predecessors didn't like the Biblical message, they critiqued and rebuked those that had brought it. Prophets, apostles, even Christ himself - all died because of what they had to say. That will be the focus of today's study in Galatians.
Questions That We'll Answer:
A) What was Paul's greatest frustration about the Galatians?

The 'golden calf' incident is a dark blot in Israelite history.
While coming down the mountain, Moses heard the sound of warfare from below. But he soon found that it wasn't warfare - it was singing and adulation toward an idol. The people had broken God's law. Terribly. Egregiously. And to demonstrate what they'd done, Moses shattered the 10 Commandments before their eyes.

Wed, 26 Apr 2023 - 46 - Exodus: The Ten Commandments (Ep. 8)
God's law can do a lot of things. It can teach, it can restrain, and it can disciple. But there's one thing that it cannot do - it cannot save.
You see, that was the problem of the Israelites as they looked at the burning mountain. After they heard the ten commandments, they realized this - as significant as those commandments were, they only condemned the people, and did not redeem. The fire on the mountain was a reminder that the people could not approach God, because they'd broken His law more times than they could count. So what was their hope? What did they need? We'll consider that in our continuing study of the Book of Exodus.
Questions That We'll Answer:
A) What were the 10 Commandments? Why were there ten of them?
B) How did Jesus summarize these commandments? What did He say?

However, the 10th plague would break his spirit and take his son. Following the events of the Passover night, God's people would be set free. And in the implementation of the Passover meal itself, a neon arrow would point forward to the Lamb of God, Jesus Christ.

In Malachi 3, God accused His people of "robbing Him." What were they doing?
As we'll see in today's study, God had given His people everything that they had. For that matter, He has done the same for us. How should we respond? Well, Scripture calls us to be good and generous stewards. However, our inclination is to be the opposite - to be selfish and greedy. In today's text, we'll see how the Israelites were guilty of this in the time of Malachi.

Join us for today's study (from Ezekiel 13) as we learn about about God's judgment on false teachers.
Questions That We'll Answer:
A) What is the difference between a 'real' prophet and a 'false' prophet?
B) Why did the people embrace these false prophets in the OT?
C) How can we be on the lookout for false teachers in our own day?Speaker: Rev. Dr. Toby B. Holt

Thu, 16 Mar 2023 - 26 - Ezekiel: God's Glory Departs The Temple (Pt. 5)
In Ezekiel 10, God's glory LEFT THE BUILDING. Destruction followed.
Why did this happen? Well, the people had turned their back on God, and turned toward idols. They had defiled His house. And so, Ezekiel had a vision of God's glory leaving the temple. But would He ever return?
Questions That We'll Answer:
A) In what way had the Israelites 'defiled' God's temple?
B) Was God really willing to destroy His own house of worship?
C) What are the implication of God's glory leaving in Ezekiel 10?Speaker: Rev. Dr. Toby B. Holt

Wed, 15 Mar 2023 - 25 - Ezekiel: The Traintracks Of God's Wrath (Pt. 4)
When the TRAIN is coming, it is time to get off the TRACKS.
In Ezekiel's day, the Israelites were standing on the train tracks of God's wrath, and were about to get run over. But why? What had they done? In Ezekiel 4-5, God details their errors and the nature of His coming judgment.
Questions That We'll Answer:
A) If Israel was God's covenental people, why was God so angry with them?
B) Would God spare the city of Jerusalem - and what about His temple?
C) What was the point of the 'object lessons' that we see in these chapters?Speaker: Rev. Dr. Toby B. Holt

Tue, 14 Mar 2023 - 24 - Ezekiel: The Watchman (Pt. 3)
What does it mean to be A WATCHMAN?
In Chapter 3 of Ezekiel, the prophet was called to be a 'watchman' over God's people, and that involved these two things: 1) identifying spiritual danger, and 2) warning the people. Are there any watchmen in our day? If so, then they have the same basic responsibilities. Click to listen to Part 3 in our 10 part series on Ezekiel.
Questions That We'll Answer:
A) Why did God commission Ezekiel as a 'watchman' over Israel?
B) What would happen if Ezekiel didn't do his job? Would he be held responsible?
C) What would happen if the people didn't listen to the prophet's warnings?Speaker: Rev. Dr. Toby B. Holt

Mon, 13 Mar 2023 - 23 - Ezekiel: God Calls And Sends The Prophet (Pt. 2)
In Week 2 of our study, we consider Ezekiel's call to be a prophet. This was not an easy job - because Israel had a history of rejecting (and even killing) its prophets.
With that said, how would this young man respond to God's call? What would he say to his rebellious people? And would his words have any application to our own day and age, all of these centuries later?
Questions That We'll Answer:
A) Who was Ezekiel, and why did God call this young priest to be a prophet?
B) What was the content of Ezekiel's prophetic ministry? What did he say?
C) How would the people respond to his words (spoiler alert: not well).Speaker: Rev. Dr. Toby B. Holt

Fri, 10 Mar 2023 - 22 - Ezekiel: The Prophet & The Chariot Of Fire (Pt. 1)
In Ezekiel 1, the prophet had an amazing vision.
Specifically, the prophet saw a fiery whirlwind approach, and within the whirlwind was a CHARIOT OF FIRE - a chariot that was carried by angels, who flew amidst the chariot's fiery wheels. What was this vision all about? Click for Part 1 of our new 10 Part series in the Book of Ezekiel.
Questions That We'll Answer:
A) What was Ezekiel doing in Babylon? How did he get there?
B) What was the 'chariot of fire?' Was this a real object, or a symbol?
C) What is the book of Ezekiel about? What is an outline for its pages?Speaker: Rev. Dr. Toby B. Holt

Thu, 09 Mar 2023 - 21 - Daniel: The Vision Of The Goat And Ram (Ch. 8)
In Daniel 8, the prophet recorded visions of events that would happen in the centuries to come. And in today's study, we see that those prophesies line up perfectly with the historical record.
"Then I lifted my eyes and saw, and there, standing beside the river, was a ram which had two horns, and the two horns were high; but one was higher than the other, and the higher one came up last. I saw the ram pushing westward, northward, and southward, so that no animal could withstand him; nor was there any that could deliver from his hand, but he did according to his will and became great. And as I was considering, suddenly a male goat came from the west, across the surface of the whole earth, without touching the ground; and the goat had a notable horn between his eyes." - Daniel 8:3-5Click to hear about Daniel's vision of the 'goat' and the 'ram.'
Questions That We'll Answer:
A) What did the 'goat' and the 'ram' represent? How can we be sure?
B) What was the point of these visions - why was Daniel given them?
C) Which future events were anticipated in Chapter 8?Speaker: Rev. Dr. Toby B. Holt

Tue, 07 Mar 2023 - 20 - Daniel: The Vision Of The Four Beasts (Ch. 7)
In Daniel 7, the prophet watched as four beasts climbed out of the water - four violent, hideous creatures. But what were they? And what did they come to do?
In today's sermon, we will consider the four beasts of Daniel's dream, and we'll try to identify who (or what) they represent.
Questions That We'll Answer:
A) What was the purpose of Daniel's vision?
B) What were the identities of the creatures that he saw? How can we be sure?
C) What does this chapter tell us about our past and our future?Speaker: Rev. Dr. Toby B. Holt

Mon, 06 Mar 2023 - 19 - Daniel: The Prophet In The Lion's Den (Ch. 6)
"The Devil is like a prowling lion, seeking who he can devour."
This statement from 1 Peter 5 makes for an interesting contrast with the prophet's experience in the lion's den in Daniel 6. In both cases, God's people are exposed to a creature that desires to eat them alive. And in both cases, God intervenes to prevent this from happening. Click on this sermon link to hear more.
Questions That We'll Answer:
A) Why was Daniel thrown into the lion's den in the first place?
B) How did he survive? What happened to keep the lions at bay?
C) How is this narrative instructive or encouraging to us all these years later?Speaker: Rev. Dr. Toby B. Holt

Fri, 03 Mar 2023 - 18 - Daniel: The Handwriting On The Wall (Ch. 5)
The King was terrified. A hand had appeared out of nowhere, and had written a series of words on the far wall. And nobody knew what these words meant - nobody except the prophet Daniel.
So, what did these words say? Click to learn the answer in this fascinating sermon from Daniel 5.
Questions That We'll Answer:
A) What was the 'hand' that appeared on King Belshazzar's wall?
B) Why did the hand write the words 'MENE, MENE, TEKEL, UPHARSIN?'
C) What was the King's response to these words, and what was his fate?Speaker: Rev. Dr. Toby B. Holt

Thu, 02 Mar 2023 - 17 - Daniel: The Conversion Of The King (Ch. 4)
King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon was a bad man. As villains go - he was one of the worst. And yet, he was still a candidate for grace!
In today's sermon, we'll consider the apparent "regeneration" and "conversion" of this pagan king, and consider what it means for us.
Questions That We'll Answer:
1) Why Nebuchadnezzar? Was he really 'saved?' How do we know?
2) Why was the king compelled to act like a beast of the field?
3) When the king eventually praised God, was he being sincere?Speaker: Rev. Dr. Toby B. Holt

Wed, 01 Mar 2023 - 16 - Daniel: The Rise And Fall Of Nations (Ch. 4)
"There is a God, and you are not Him."
It should go without saying, but 'created beings' do not outrank the Creator. Nor does any ruler or governor outrank the King of Kings. Babylon, for all of its riches and all its glory, was still subject to the transcendent rule of the Most High. And in today's text from Daniel 4, King Nebuchadnezzar was going to learn that lesson the hard way.
Questions That We'll Answer:
1) What was King Nebuchadnezzar's primary sin?
2) What does it mean for God to be 'sovereign' over all that He has made?
3) Why would God raise up a guy like Nebuchadnezzar in the first place?Speaker: Rev. Dr. Toby B. Holt

Tue, 28 Feb 2023 - 15 - Daniel: Take A Stand For What You Believe (Ch. 3)
Do you have integrity? Do you have principles? Will you stand for what you believe in?
Sometimes in life, our principles are put to the test. How do we respond in those moments? In today's study of Daniel 3, we'll see how Shadrach, Meschach and Abednego responded to King Nebuchadnezzar's decree - and how they would not deny their God, even when thrown into a fiery furnace. And then we'll see how they were rescued!
Questions That We'll Answer:
1) Why were Shadrach, Meschach and Abednego in danger?
2) In the big picture, what did the 'fiery furnace' of this chapter represent?
3) Who was the fourth figure that the King saw walking amidst the fire?Speaker: Rev. Dr. Toby B. Holt

Mon, 27 Feb 2023 - 14 - Daniel: The Nightmare Of The King (Ch. 2)
Have you ever had a "bad dream?"
In Chapter 2 of Daniel, King Nebuchadnezzar had a bad dream - a nightmare that he didn't like and couldn't understand. And so he sought someone to interpret this dream for him (and began killing the 'wise men' who couldn't). Fortunately, God had given the interpretation to one man, the prophet that we know as Daniel.
Click to hear more, as we continue our study in the Book of Daniel.
Questions That We'll Answer:
A) What was the King's dream about? What event did it foretell?
B) How did the King respond to Daniel's interpretation?
C) Does the prophetic nature of this dream match up with the events of history?Speaker: Rev. Dr. Toby B. Holt

Fri, 24 Feb 2023 - 13 - Daniel: Strangers In A Strange Land (Ch. 1)
For the prophet Daniel, living in Babylon could not have been easy. He was far from home, the local King was cruel, and his future seemed bleak. Daniel was a stranger in a strange land!
In Part 1 of our new series, we’ll consider the prophet’s difficult situation - and we'll see how he and his faithful friends responded.
Questions That We'll Answer:
1) What was Daniel doing in Babylon, if he was a Jew? How did he get there?
2) What sort of 'conformity' did the King expect of Daniel and his friends?
3) How are you and I supposed to live, as people who are "not of this world?"Speaker: Rev. Dr. Toby B. Holt

Thu, 23 Feb 2023 - 12 - Jonah: Why Are You Angry At God (Chapter 4)
Have you ever been angry with God?
In Jonah 4, the prophet was angry at God. He couldn't believe what God had done! It didn't seem good or fair to him. And so, the prophet insisted that his emotional response was right and appropriate. In today's sermon, we'll consider Jonah's frustration and God's response.
Questions That We'll Answer:
1) Why was Jonah so mad? What had happened?
2) Was Jonah's anger focused on the Ninevites, or toward God?
3) How did God respond to Jonah's outburst, and what can we learn from this?Speaker: Rev. Dr. Toby B. Holt

Tue, 21 Feb 2023 - 11 - Jonah: Dread And Danger In Nineveh (Chapter 3)
It was just one sermon. And that sermon was only eight words long. But what was the result? Over a hundred thousand people repented.
There's no other sermon like this in all of recorded history. There's no sermon ever preached that had as wide-spread a response among those that it was originally preached to. So what happened when this reluctant prophet went to Nineveh? Click to learn more in Part 3 of our four part series on the Book of Jonah.
Questions That We'll Answer:
1) Why didn't Jonah want to go to Nineveh in the first place?
2) What happened when he showed up? How was he received?
3) Why did the Ninevites repent? Were any of them legitimately saved?Speaker: Rev. Dr. Toby B. Holt

Mon, 20 Feb 2023 - 10 - Jonah: Alone In The Dark (Chapter 2)
Alone. Scared. Anxious. Is that you? Have you ever felt that way?
No one has ever felt as alone as Jonah - sitting by himself in the belly of the beast. But the prophet wasn't really alone, and this wasn't the end of the line. In this study of Jonah 2, we'll consider the grace that God showed this wayward prophet - and remind ourselves of the grace that God has given to us.
Questions That We'll Answer:
1) Why was Jonah swallowed by a giant fish (or whale)?
2) How did Jonah survive in the depths of the ocean?
3) What was God's purpose in all of this? What was God doing here?Speaker: Rev. Dr. Toby B. Holt

Sun, 19 Feb 2023 - 9 - Jonah: You Can Run, But Not Hide (Chapter 1)
You can RUN from God. But you can't HIDE from God.
Has God every placed a call on your life that you've run away from? Has God ever called you - and instead of responding to His call, you ran? Well, that's what the prophet Jonah did. Jonah ran, got on a boat, and did everything he could to avoid going to Nineveh. But why? What was his issue? Click to learn more in Part 1 of this four part series.
Questions That We'll Answer:
1) Why did Jonah run from God?
2) Was Jonah really swallowed by a whale (or great fish)?
3) Is the book of Jonah a real, factual account - or just a helpful story?Speaker: Rev. Dr. Toby B. Holt

Sat, 18 Feb 2023 - 7 - The Reformation: Not Ashamed Of The Gospel
In Romans 1, the Apostle Paul said "I am not ashamed of the gospel of Jesus Christ." We shouldn't be either. We should not be ashamed of that which saves us. We should not be ashamed of the One who died for us. We should not water down, diminish or subjugate the Gospel to any other thing.
Join us for this sermon, in which we talk about the Apostle Paul, Martin Luther, the Protestant Reformation, and the power of the Gospel.
Questions That We'll Answer:
A) What was the cause of the Protestant Reformation?
B) What made Martin Luther so angry in 1517?
C) What was the reason for the church's explosive growth in Paul's day?Speaker: Rev. Dr. Toby B. Holt

Sat, 11 Feb 2023 - 5 - The Difference Between Theology And Philosophy
Philosophy and theology are not the same thing. One looks inward, one looks upward.
As a Christian, you need to consider the sources that are instructing you and your loved ones. Most sources rely on 'man centered wisdom' to teach other men. Depending on the topic, this is like the blind leading the blind. A transcendent source of revelation is much better. We'll consider this and more in today's study of Colossians 2.Speaker: Rev. Dr. Toby B. Holt

Sun, 29 Jan 2023 - 4 - God Will Put You In A Storm (Why?)
When the storm hit, the sailors were exactly where Jesus had told them to go. They were right in the danger zone. But if Christ loved them so much, how could this be?
Storms happen. And sometimes God puts you right in their midst. But here's the thing - He does not leave you to face them alone! Click to listen to this study of Matthew 14.
Questions We'll Answer:
A) Why did Jesus walk on water? And why did Peter sink?
B) Why does God allow us to face difficult circumstances?
C) Where is God when we're going through a crisis?Speaker: Rev. Dr. Toby B. Holt

Sat, 28 Jan 2023 - 3 - The Gospel Is Like A Lion, It Can Defend Itself
The Gospel is NOT TOOTHLESS. The Gospel is NOT WEAK.
In Scripture, we see that the Gospel is called the "power of God" unto salvation. And if that's true, then we should treat it as Charles Spurgeon did - as a lion to be let out, not as something to hide, package or subjugate beneath other things. Just preach it!
Questions We'll Address:
1) What is the Gospel?
2) Why does Paul call the Gospel the 'power' of God unto salvation?
3) How was the Gospel's power demonstrated in Acts 5?Speaker: Rev. Dr. Toby B. Holt

Mon, 16 Jan 2023 - 2 - Born Again: What Does This Term Really Mean?
What does it mean to be "BORN AGAIN?"
The phrase 'born again' is commonly misunderstood. People don't know what to make of it. With that said, what do you think it means? Does something really happen to us when we come to Christ, or does this just refer to our decision to follow Him?
Spoiler Alert: It all boils down to your understanding of 'regeneration.'
Questions That We'll Answer In Today's Stud:
A) What in the world is 'regeneration?'
B) What happens to our nature when we are 'born again?'
C) Can we ever spiritually 'die' after undergoing this new 'birth?'Speaker: Rev. Dr. Toby B. Holt
