The First Sunday of Advent! Israel hoped and longed for God to intervene, for the Messiah to come and save them. Jesus did come! But he will come again? Ought we to hope and long for the second coming of Christ just like Israel? O come O come Emmanuel.

We can also see the answer to the question, HOW to make disciples... teach and baptize people. But WHY are we to do it? If we look closely at this passage, there is a really important clue.

This passage takes us to a very challenging truth: our world rewards individualism, autonomy, and independence. So much so that we often don't see the necessity of connectedness, community and dependence on God. God talks to us about this not only in the New Testament, but we also see a resistance, even a flat rejection, of Jesus' teachings in the New Testament and that got me thinking about how we live in our culture, in our society of today.

David Wicks joins us to speak as part of our Lead Pastor Candidate weekend. In times of uncertainty or trials, we often try to squeeze God into a contract. If I do "this", God will give me "that". God is not a God of contracts, but of the covenant. Covenants are relational, binding and not broken. Contracts are temporary, breakable and result or item focused. God's grace to us is not contractual in nature. Uncertainty means we just need to continue walking in the covenant. Our side of the covenant is to act justly, love mercy, and walk humbly with our God.

Joel Martin joins us as a guest speaker! The LORD says, “I have seen. I have heard. I am concerned. I have come down, so now go, I am sending you.” God has a rescue plan and we are part of it!

We are in a challenging time transitioning from a pandemic to a post-pandemic world. This will walk us through six factors to help us unpack the past, understand where we are today, and plan for a healthy tomorrow.

People today consider family members, special possessions, trips, etc. as being foremost and priceless in their lives. However, these are temporary and do not compare to Jesus who alone is truly “PRICELESS”. To realize and accept Jesus as “PRICELESS” we need to know HIM, put our Faith in Him and believe in His resurrection. Christ only is “PRICELESS” and HIS gift is “PRICELESS” also, namely , Eternal Life.

We are promised that God will always be with us no matter what things we are going through. We have an enemy that wants us to think and fear that is not true.

God Will Not Leave Us As Orphans by Kingsfield-ZMC

In the midst of uncertainty, we're tempted to fear and control. We'll see God's astounding sovereignty in the story of Joseph. And yet, because God is going ahead of us to direct our path, we can rest. Because God is sovereign we can live with hope.

We hear many different messages about who we are. Some of those messages come from ourselves and past hurts. Some come from the world. Some come from the enemy who wants to hurt and destroy us. This isn't so much a message as it is a reminder of many of the places in scripture where God tells us who we are to Him.

In John 15, Jesus teaches an important lesson using the Vine and the Branches parable. In it, he uses the image of a grapevine to communicate the importance of being connected. We must stay connected to God - the gardener, to Jesus - the vine, and to each other.

Where is God when life is complicated, confusing and convoluted?

Uncertainty is a difficult thing to carry. We want answers and assurances. But the good news is that God’s got this. No matter what “this” is for you right now, God’s got it.

No matter what lies ahead of us, God is with us. God is for us. God protects us. He has not forgotten.

When we think about the story that Jesus tells in Luke 15: 11-31, we typically call it the story of The Prodigal Son and focus on the foolish lost boy in the story. But the story takes on a new meaning when we instead focus on the father in the story. When we do that, we learn a great deal about our Heavenly Father and how men here on earth can be great dads to our children.

At Easter, we think about the suffering, trial and death of Jesus. But the fact that Jesus rose from the dead is incredibly important. This message looks at how that reality impacts our lives.

A Palm Sunday look at Jesus Triumphal Entry and the lessons that we can learn and apply to our lives.

God leads us in our discipleship, he takes us by the hand. Ultimately as he takes our hand and disciples us, so we take the hand of another to disciple them and lead them to Jesus. Remove the stain of my guilt. Create a clean heart. Renew a right spirit - the streams of living water that renews our spirit, i.e the Holy Spirit.

We'll be talking about trusting God with our whole heart and how there are things that can keep us from doing that fully. More specifically we will be looking at 4 things that we may be putting our trust in instead of God. The four things are traditions, theology, thinking and talents.

In this conclusion of the story of Nehemiah and the restoration of Jerusalem we are reminded that even when the outer, physical work of restoring the walls and city of Jerusalem was done, it wasn't the end of the restoration. Their response was to enter into worship and into an inner spiritual restoration.

We will be looking at 4 things that we may be putting our trust in instead of God. The four things are traditions, theology, thinking and talents.

In the story of Nehemiah, at some point during their moving forward in restoration, they realized that those with money and power were treating the poor and powerless unfairly. Justice is an important part of God's character and realizing this, Nehemiah stopped the restoration to address the situation. The principle for us is that no matter how important "doing God's work" seems to us, people come first. Following God means that people are more important than projects.

Jesus' transfiguration has been associated with Moses, who also stood before God, and the prophet Elijah. Focus - why these two?

As we move towards recovery, healing and restoration we WILL experience opposition. Moving forward means change and not everyone quickly embraces change. We will also experience spiritual opposition from the enemy because Satan wants us to stay in the place of pain and loss and opposes us when we move towards the restoration that God has for us.

We all have times where we face a Goliath like problem/issue in our lives, and instead of running away we need to be like David and stand up to our Giants. But we can not do this alone. We need each other and we need God. Let’s face our Goliaths like P.R.O.S (Pray always, Resist the devil, Obey, Steady and Strong faith) May our Goliath's fall!

In this continuing study of Nehemiah, we see that the recovery can only happen when the people are united in purpose and everyone does their part. Not everyone can do everything but everyone can do something.

A continuation of the study of the book of Nehemiah from last time. This message will focus on the risk that Nehemiah took as he asked the King for help. As we dream courageously, we eventually need to commit those dreams to God and take risks as we step out in faith.

Society and the Bible have perspectives and approaches about life after death that take two distinctly opposite roads. Today’s world and many religions have “zero” tolerance for Christianity. Satan’s strategies, Hell and individual ‘s falling away from Christ will be compared to Jesus ’teachings, Heaven and Christian signposts to Eternity. - Charles King

We will be looking at the book of Nehemiah and the journey that Nehemiah and the people of Israel took as they transitioned from a place of captivity to being restored as a nation. We will focus on principles that K-ZMC can apply in the various transitions that are happening including (hopefully) a transition out of this pandemic reality. - Pastor Craig Frere
