With AniMay now over we were able to finally talk about the new Mortal Kombat movie and what better way to do it than to compare it to the original one from 1995. Before that though we had some news. This week we were pretty light on news. In the lightning round, we got a bunch of release dates for games that will be coming out in the next year, news of Amazon buying MGM Studios, and news of Jac Schaeffer getting signed for a 3 year TV deal with Marvel. With that out of the way as well as a lack of straight-up news, let’s get right into the topic. As mentioned before this time around we talked about both the newest and oldest Mortal Kombat movies. Each of us came at this with very different perspectives. Some of us knew the lore quite a bit while others had watched only these movies and never really played the games. That being said, both of these movies are enjoyable. They both have strengths and weaknesses that make it possible to like one over the other depending on what you like more in a movie. In the lightning round, we got news of Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania starting filming, Lucasfilms dropping Rangers of The New Republic, and a lot of DC news which included the announcement of an animated Injustice movie among other things. As for straight-up news, we were met with two trailers. One was for the Dinsey+ series Monsters at Work, and the other was for Marvel’s Eternals. To round up the news we had the lineup for devs going to E3 as well as those who will be at Summer Game Fest. With that all out of the way let’s discuss the topic. As you can see from the title of this episode, this week we talked about Princess Mononoke. This was our first time doing a retrospective on a movie, and we couldn’t be happier that this was the one to start with. Most of us have not watched many if any Ghibli films, and this one definitely made for a good jumping-off point. In the end, we all enjoyed the movie, and hopefully, this episode will get you guys to be interested in it too. That being said if you guys have watched Princess Mononoke make sure to tell us! This episode had our cast realizing just how many none anime projects can be classified under the anime tag. These ranged anywhere from the ever beloved Alice in Wonderland to less clear ones such as the Princess Diaries. Either way, our cast had a great time talking about different shows and movies and seeing whether they fit the mold (expect for Patty cause he doesn’t like fun). In lightning round we saw the announcements for a How I Met Your Father series, Russel Crowe playing Zeus in the new Thor movie, and a Soul prequel that will premiere on April 30th. Straight up news was fairly light this time around. The only thing we saw was a new deal that Sony made with Disney and Hulu that will last from 2022 to 2026. With that out of the way let’s talk about this weeks topic. As you can see from the title, this time we are talking about the newest Disney Plus series Falcon and the Winter Soldier (or for those of you who are cultured Captain America and the Winter Solider 2). This series brought a lot of the table, and boy did it bring it. Whether you were watching for the fight scenes, the passing of the mantle, or the themes that the show was trying to tell the viewer there was a lot for anyone who wanted to watch. With that all over a bit about Raya and the Last Dragon. We over at Nerds be Like had a great time watching this movie. It had a wonderful blend of comedy, visuals, and music that just makes you want to watch it on repeat, but that being said we still had some gripes. In lightning round we finally got the reveal of the title for Spider-Man 3, we got release dates for 3 Disney Plus series, and the announcement of a Blue Beetle film being developed among other things. In lightning round we heard about Netflix ordering a 24 episode animated Sonic series called “Sonic Prime”, Kingdom Hearts coming to the Epic Games Store, Idris Elba working with Crunchyroll to make an anime, as well as quite a few other things you’ll have to listen to find out. As for straight up news we got another look at both The Falcon and Winter Soldier as well as Zack Snyder’s Justice League. Both trailers showed some real promise and we cannot wait to talk about them more when they come out. Besides that we saw Gina Carano being fired from The Mandalorian, and Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey being cast in the HBO Max Last of Us series. In lightning round we heard the announcement of a Spy Kids reimagining with Robert Rodriguez writing and directing, and Proximity Media signing a 5 year contract with Disney. This also included the news of Michael B. Jordan being willing to reprise his role as Erik Killmonger. Hello beautiful nerds, and welcome back to another episode. Ending this year/s “Nerd-tober” we had an episode we have been waiting to do for a while, our favorite character costumes. Before that, as always we had lightning round and some bigger news. This past week we got the news that Cyberpunk got yet another delay, Ubisoft will be making certain games cross-progression and cross-play, Marvel’s search for a screenwriter for Blade, as well as Michael B. Jordan directing Creed 3. Now that the news is out of the way let's talk about this week’s topic. As we have alluded to for a while we have finally talked about our favorite costumes on characters. While we are calling them “costumes” we really talked about our favorite clothing designs on characters. This could mean anything from Superman’s costume to a criminals’ rags from Skyrim. Continuing with our “Nerd-tober” month we go to a spooky topic that we’ve never done. OOOOO👻 but you saw the title so brace yourself! But first we did have some news that awaits us. In Lightning Round we get the announcements of Dexter returning & HBO greenlighting a Green Lantern series, more Black Adam casting & new Monster Hunter movie trailer. Along with all that in Straight Up News: It’s confirmed that Doctor Strange will join Spider-Man 3, Mad Max prequel follows Furiosa & Pixar’s Soul will arrive to Disney+ to all users. So first off I will start off by saying Horror movies are not my favorite type of movies but a good amount of us love them so we thought it’d be the perfect time to talk about this. Now let’s get into the death battle! Wait...wrong show. This episode we pitted Ben 10 (more specifically his older self Ben 10,000) against characters we thought could beat him and the Omnitrix. The only big rule we applied was no Alien X cause where’s the fun in that. Besides that it was a no holds barred with characters we thought could outsmart, out fight, or just throw a sun at him. Hello everybody & welcome back to another episode. This week is a bit special as we talked about a bit of a classic that we all recently got around to watching a.k.a Cowboy Bebop! We got our first look at Far Cry 6 this past week which is showing that games are pushing further to the point of looking like real life. We also got an announcement for a new Disney Plus animated show for the Bad Batch. We are not sure about many of the specifics, but we do know that it will be an animated series. It was an anime that was revolutionary at the time for combining seemingly opposing genres to one amazing experience. Hello everybody, and welcome to another tier list! That’s right, could this be one of our most controversial tier lists yet? Not sure but we for sure had some strong words back-and-forth. But before that, let’s do some quick news of the week. We got our first look at the PS5 consoles, some new games coming in for the system like Spider-Man: Miles Morales, Resident Evil 8, Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart & more. We also got the news that there will be a Star Wars Dog fighting game called Star Wars: Squadrons along with a new Kingdom Hearts game! So now let’s rank the MCU. Now it’s no secret that we used to do a lot of Marvel episodes on the podcast but with the new tier list style we did for Star Wars movies it was bound to happen. While most of the conversation was tame, in some areas I was definitely fighting Patty against putting certain movies in certain tiers. But we did manage to explain our reasoning from what the villain means to the character or the values of the hero or even how the music impacted the story! What’s up Beautiful Nerds?! It's episode 50! Yeah! And in honor of Goku day, we thought we’d compare two of our favorite Dragon Ball movies. The Broly movies: 1993 vs 2018! But before we do let’s cover some news. Tom Cruise & Elon Musk will apparently team up to film in space, Cyberpunk 2077 will feature crazy customization, Fallen Order is the first in a franchise & finally Boba Fett will make his grand return in The Mandalorian Season 2. So like I mentioned up top we will be talking about Dragon Ball, ultimately it was a big coincidence that this was released near Goku Day since we planned this a few days after recording our last episode. Anyways we watch both the original & newer version of the Broly movies to do another comparison style episode. We talked about main characters, a change in setting, animation style, fight sequences & discussing what’s canon now. Although we flat out say that the 2018 version was for sure better, the original one still has its moments. Yooo... the fighting in the newer one was crazy! What’s good everyone?! This week we bring you guys a long episode discussing Clone Wars season 7 & the series finale. But before we get there, let’s do some news. So first of all we got a new Assassin's Creed game announcement, a live-action Hercules movie in the works, a Last of Us 2 leak update, a new Transformers movie has a release date, Space Jam: A New Legacy poster & we got some exciting news that Taika Watiti will direct a Star Wars movie. As part of “Star Wars Day” we got Episode 9 but more importantly we got a Mandalorian docuseries on the behind-the-scenes look at the series, directors to be exact. So...we are finally here. We close the chapter to our favorite series: The Clone Wars. We go in depth into all the arcs, talk character development, the wonderful music & the animation! Bro, it was all awesome. This is honestly one of the best seasons of the show, definitely top 3. It made us all cry, the season was so emotional. And that one fight sequence with Maul & Ahsoka was probably the best fighting animation we’ve ever seen on TV. Honestly as a whole this season was a banger. For this week with some exciting news of a returning character coming to Mando S2 we thought we’d speculate what a live-action Ahsoka might do. But first we let’s do some light news: We got word that Onward will be coming to Disney+, Marvel Phase 4 possibly resurrecting(this was purely speculation that hasn’t been confirmed) & Wonder Woman 1984 is officially delayed. So we got some exciting news this week for The Mandalorian. It has been reported that Rosario Dawson has been cast as a live-action Ahsoka. So what happens now? We discuss possible locations like Tatooine that are very likely to appear(Jon Favreau sharing an image of a pig creature from Jabba’s Palace). Some possible villains like  Ming-Na Wen’s character, definitely Moff Gideon & quite possibly Boba Fett! Maybe as a gangster??. Ahsoka's return could mean that she helps Baby Yoda train? What? Hell yeah! We also discuss if Sabine could return. Moff Gideon fights Mando with the dark saber? It's totally in the realm of possible, right? What’s up beautiful people! Today we thought we’d brainstorm a few ideas for some new Disney games since weeks ago they talked to DICE about developing new story-driven games for Disney! Here to help us out is Antonio’s college friend/friend of the show: David! Before we dive deep into the topic let’s start off with some news of the week: We got Star Wars: High Republic, Disney CEO steps down, James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad has wrapped filming, She-Hulk news & more! Alright, brainstorming time! So we thought this week we’d like to explore Disney’s video game future with some pretty awesome ideas if we say so ourselves. Like we always do let’s list some stuff in a circle. We thought Disney can do a rhythm game of sorts and call it Fantasia, a Disney Party game that is like “Mario Party-esque” but with all kinds of characters and setting from Marvel, Pixar, Star Wars & Disney Animation. Jack also brings back memories with his mention of a Toontown reboot. We also mention a bunch of ambitious Star Wars projects like a Mando video game that follows his past before season 1 & another one that is open world where you can create your own character in the Star Wars universe and travel the galaxy doing mission with a specific occupation. What’s good everyone! We got Clone Wars on our minds today with not only “The Bad Batch” premiere but our general thoughts on Clone Wars as a whole with Seasons 1-6! What’s going on beautiful nerds?! We’re back at the home studio in time to discuss the new Birds of Prey movie! But let’s talk about news first. We have some big Oscars wins for “Parasite”, Joaquin Phoenix’s first Oscar, and many more. We also talk about Doctor Strange 2, Fantastic 4 casting, Hawkeye series introducing Trickshot (maybe?), Sony releasing a new Marvel film in 2021 & Agents of Atlas’ MCU debut. Now let’s get into our Birds of Prey review! SPOILERS AHEAD: if you have not seen the movie, make sure you pause the episode and come back after watching it. SPOILERS AFTER 49:00. DC’s newest film on the block, “Birds of Prey: And the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn”, has arrived with a mixed reception. But let us tell you, it is totally “Fantabulous!” We might be in the minority in favor of this film but we still had a great time with it. We talk about team dynamics, our favorite character, best song from the original album, best stand-out newcomer! Is it better than Suicide Squad? Without a doubt! Up there with DC’s new direction?
