  • 38 - Scene 37 - Stephanie Long

Booming into the studio this week, we have the multi-talented, Stephanie Long. As a Brisbane/Gold Coast performer, Steph lives her best life in the gigging scene - touring with many cover bands and performing locally. With performing arts her full-time career, Steph also reveals to us her exciting return to musical theatre with THAT Production Company's upcoming production of 'Tick Tick Boom'. Ticking over at Ipswich's Civic Centre, Steph shares her excitement about joining a stellar cast and gives us some advice on what to expect from this must-see show!

Scene 37 unravels much to do about the arts scene. With a musical theatre degree and from a family of artists, Steph has 'performing' in her blood. We chat all about music, and Steph shares her big belief in living your truth and finding happiness and contentment in life. This has been a massive journey for the South East QLD performer, and she takes us through some of her biggest life lessons during her years as an artist. We talk about the importance of consistent training, stage fright, the silver linings of lockdown, how to handle being a perfectionist and the importance of community in the arts. Too often, people are caught up with viewing other people's success as your failure, but Steph is a big fan of celebrating each other and finding ways to work on the same team. She leaves us with the simple but very true message - and you'll have to tune in to hear more!

  • 37 - Scene 36 - Alisdair Macindoe

Pirouetting into the studio this week is the incredibly talented Alisdair Macindoe from Australiasian Dance Collective. We talk about his upcoming production 'Forgery', which transports us into the future with a performance generated entirely by a computer! And Alisdair is the man behind the computer and lets us know how it all works

With an interesting background in creative programming, 'Forgery' allows human genius and computer smarts to combine and create something brilliant. Presented as part of Brisbane Festival and partnering with Australasian Dance Collective, learn more about how technology is incorporating with performance - and if you're into dance, this is the episode to boogie too!

Scene 36 unravels how Alisdair created a program that gives computer-generated prompts to six talented dancers who then improvise their way through a new show every night. We chat about how the team has worked with the Australasian Dance Collective dancers to build their improvisation skills in the rehearsal room and to give them the confidence to step on stage without a clue about what they're doing. Alisdair, Chelsea and Brooke then take a deep dive into the moral dilemma of artificial intelligence in the creative field and what the future of tech and art could look like. This is a mind-blowing episode that's not to be missed!

  • 35 - Scene 34 - Jess Bunz and Bianca Bality

From puppeteering to producing and playwriting, The Naughty Corner Collective have done it all! This week we sit down with two of the collective's members to chat about their upcoming production 'Maze', playing at the Brisbane Powerhouse. Jess Bunz and Bianca Bality both work as ushers by day and theatre-making extraordinaires during...well, all the other hours. These two powerhouse women have worked in Brisbane's most iconic theatres and have lots of stories and insight to share.

Scene 34 unravels all you need to know about managing your artistic journey, developing new work and a touch of Greek mythology. We go into detail about The Naughty Corner Collective's original production, 'Maze' produced in conjunction with Dead Puppet Society. Jess and Bianca explain their process of developing a 20-minute production into a full-scale play. Working within a collective can come with its challenges, but Jess and Bianca have identified the features that make working with a group of creatives a fruitful venture instead of an infuriating one. We hear about their business was born from creativity, the importance of grant writing skills, learning how to ask for help and how to get the most out of your uni degree. As always, this scene is packed full of knowledge, laughs and wholesome energy! Stick around, we're so glad you're here.
