  • 257 - The Motorsport Brief: Taupo Supercars Preview

Supercars are in flyaway mode, back in New Zealand for a sellout event in the centre of the North Island they’re calling the Super400.

Tickford Racing’s Thomas Randle joins us trackside to talk about a circuit he’s raced for real.... and virtually.

The Castrol Mustang driver had a podium finish here during his title winning season in the fiercely competitive Toyota Racing Series in 2017. While Supercars is his focus now, he also runs Dream Simulation - a globally recognised SIM training facility in Melbourne which must have come in handy for his Round 3 prep. https://www.dreamsimulation.com.au/team

Can the Ford drivers (who’ve been fast in qualifying this season) breakthrough for a win as Mustang celebrates 60 years? What we can expect from the 200k races each day across the weekend and some laughs as Randle turns pro voiceover for some safety announcements. Don’t worry, it’ll all make sense when you fire up the episode.

  • 253 - The Motorsport Brief: Australian Rally Championship Preview

Rusty is on the road (again)! This time, in Canberra for Round 1 of the Australian Rally Championship. We catch up with former competitor and friend Dean Herridge who is working with Rusty on the TV coverage of the series to cast an eye over the field and their chances.

Rusty also chats with Series Manager Adrian Coppin about the season and some tweaks to the weekend schedule given the wet weather forecast.

There are plenty of questions to step through ahead of the ARC. How will defending champion Harry Bates go in that awesome new Toyota Rally 2 car? Does the tried and tested Yaris his brother, Lewis Bates is running give him an upper hand? Plus, 2014 Champion Scott Pedder is back, former Supercars driver Alex Rullo now has a year of this level of rallying under his belt, and although we couldn’t catch up with her it’s great that our first ever podcast guest Molly Taylor is back in a Subaru.
