US consumer prices advanced in September at the fastest pace in five months and a gauge of underlying price pressures rose by more than expected, keeping the squeeze on household budgets ahead of November’s midterm elections.
The consumer price index rose 0.6% from a month earlier, driven by a surge in fuel costs, according to Bureau of Labor Statistics data out Wednesday. A key measure of underlying price pressures, which excludes food and energy, was up 0.3%.Bloomberg Washington Correspondents Joe Mathieu and Kailey Leinz deliver insight and analysis on the latest headlines from the White House and Capitol Hill, including conversations with influential lawmakers and key figures in politics and policy. The White House said it has asked US Ambassador to Greece Kimberly Guilfoyle to resign from her post following allegations of unethical conduct.
President Donald Trump, speaking to reporters on Tuesday, indicated that she would be leaving.
“I didn’t speak to her, no — but she will not be there. I didn’t like what I read,” Trump said. White House Press Secretary Katie Zacharia told reporters earlier she had been asked to resign.
Guilfoyle, a Trump appointee, came under scrutiny in a series of reports by the Wall Street Journal alleging she solicited or accepted money, travel and other benefits from private individuals while using — or offering to use — her access to US officials and her diplomatic position to advance their interests.Bloomberg Washington Correspondents Joe Mathieu and Kailey Leinz deliver insight and analysis on the latest headlines from the White House and Capitol Hill, including conversations with influential lawmakers and key figures in politics and policy. President Donald Trump’s deal with Moscow on its diesel exports and his praise for Vladimir Putin are just the latest in a string of Russia-related news that has sparked public criticisms from Republicans weeks ahead of a midterm election that increasingly favors Democrats.
Trump has said he is working with the Russian president to release the country’s diesel supplies into global markets, upending years of sanctions in a bid to ease fuel prices before the Nov. 3 elections. The move has prompted European officials to warn that increasing Russia’s diesel sales will boost Moscow’s war effort in Ukraine.Bloomberg Washington Correspondents Joe Mathieu and Kailey Leinz deliver insight and analysis on the latest headlines from the White House and Capitol Hill, including conversations with influential lawmakers and key figures in politics and policy. President Donald Trump is establishing a committee to investigate mortgage fraud allegations against Federal Reserve Governor Lisa Cook and is forcing her to appear at a White House hearing to defend herself, a dramatic escalation in his efforts to oust her from her role.
The White House shared a memorandum dated Wednesday from Trump to establish the committee.
“As President, it is my job to ensure the laws are faithfully executed, including by firing subordinates who cannot be trusted to tell the truth and follow the law,” Trump said in the memo. He said the committee would investigate whether there is “cause” for Cook’s removal following a Supreme Court decision in June that allowed her to remain in her role while she fought an earlier attempt to fire her.Bloomberg Washington Correspondents Joe Mathieu and Kailey Leinz deliver insight and analysis on the latest headlines from the White House and Capitol Hill, including conversations with influential lawmakers and key figures in politics and policy. President Donald Trump said the US would not attack Iran ahead of November’s midterm elections, citing what he said were “productive discussions” with the Islamic Republic.
“We will not be attacking Iran at any time prior to the Midterm Elections to be held in the United States on November 3rd,” Trump said in a social media post Thursday.
The president’s comments amounted to an unusual blending of US national security issues and domestic politics. And his decision to lay off new strikes comes despite Iran ramping up attacks on tankers in the Strait of Hormuz, Tehran-backed militants in Yemen attacking energy facilities in Saudi Arabia and the president’s decision to move US bombers from a base in the United Kingdom because of possible Iran-linked threats.Bloomberg Washington Correspondents Joe Mathieu and Kailey Leinz deliver insight and analysis on the latest headlines from the White House and Capitol Hill, including conversations with influential lawmakers and key figures in politics and policy. Republicans are bolstering US Senator Darline Graham’s campaign for a full term amid increasing concern that the race in South Carolina, traditionally a conservative stronghold, is tightening ahead of the Nov. 3 election.
Some in the party are worried that the state of the contest, for a seat that her late brother Lindsey Graham held for more than two decades, is in jeopardy, according to people familiar with the situation.
The Senate Leadership Fund, a Republican super PAC, is shifting $5 million to the race to support Graham, according to another person familiar with the matter. Two people who asked not to be identified downplayed the move — reported earlier by Axios — as more of a precautionary measure, meant to ensure Republicans are not taking South Carolina for granted.Bloomberg Washington Correspondents Joe Mathieu and Kailey Leinz deliver insight and analysis on the latest headlines from the White House and Capitol Hill, including conversations with influential lawmakers and key figures in politics and policy. Tue, 06 Oct 2026 - 2067 - Weekly Washington Policy Pulse: Energy Bills, Crypto Custody, Farm Aid (October 5, 2026)
A look at the final actions of the Senate -- including releasing a bipartisan energy permitting bill -- as well as looking at regulatory rulemakings geared towards enhancing institutional adoption of the crypto sector led Bloomberg Intelligence's Washington Policy Pulse on Oct. 5. The energy bill aims to speed up permitting reviews for new infrastructure projects, including making data centers pay for their transmission costs, will likely see a vote in the forthcoming lame-duck period in November.
We also looked at the SEC's most recent proposals related to accredited investor and crypto custody and how the SEC plans to finalize them in 2027. The accredited investor proposal probably won't lead to a material increase in new growth for alternative asset managers. Finally, we previewed a Trump action on farm aid, which we think will be tied to cutting diesel costs. Yet we caution most federal actions over lowering the price of diesel are limited in scope.

President Donald Trump predicted that Democrats would impeach him for a third time if they retake control of Congress, seeking to boost voter enthusiasm for Republican candidates amid broad public dissatisfaction with his leadership.
Trump spoke Thursday during a campaign swing through Texas and Oklahoma, states which he carried handily in his three presidential campaigns but are now home to competitive Senate and gubernatorial races, highlighting the GOP’s peril in the November midterm elections. The president plans to hold a rally Friday in Alabama, another deep-red state.
“Pretend I’m running, please, because I am on the ballot. The Federal Reserve’s internal watchdog found no evidence of criminal wrongdoing in the central bank’s renovation of its Washington headquarters, a $2.4 billion project that became a flashpoint between the Fed and the Trump administration as the president pushed for lower interest rates last year.
The findings came in a report released Wednesday by the Office of Inspector General that identified a series of missteps that led to surging costs for the renovation from an initially budgeted $1.3 billion in 2020.
“At no point during our evaluation did we find reasonable grounds to believe that a violation of federal criminal law had occurred requiring a referral to the US Attorney General in accordance with the Inspector General Act,” the OIG said. “Further, while our report outlines deficiencies in the management of the renovation project, resulting in our recommended corrective actions in accordance with the Inspector General Act, we did not identify administrative misconduct during our evaluation.”Bloomberg Washington Correspondents Joe Mathieu and Kailey Leinz deliver insight and analysis on the latest headlines from the White House and Capitol Hill, including conversations with influential lawmakers and key figures in politics and policy. US midterm elections were already shaping up to be a key risk for AI-related stocks amid a backlash against data centers. But with a growing number of lawmakers from both parties sounding the alarm on the need for AI safety regulations, the stakes have only gotten higher.
Optimism about AI has powered the stock-market rally for the better part of four years amid soaring spending on computing infrastructure. That trade, however, is on shaky ground after Anthropic PBC and OpenAI both pledged to slow development of their most advanced models following a series of warnings from within the industry about its ability to control the technology.
The Philadelphia Stock Exchange Semiconductor Index, better known as the SOX, tumbled nearly 6% on Monday, its worst day in more than two months. Former President Barack Obama called for AI policy to be “at the center of our public debate,” in a statement Monday evening. Meanwhile, senators including John Thune, Ted Cruz, Bernie Sanders and Amy Klobuchar have all proposed a range of policy measures aimed at addressing AI safety concerns.Bloomberg Washington Correspondents Joe Mathieu and Kailey Leinz deliver insight and analysis on the latest headlines from the White House and Capitol Hill, including conversations with influential lawmakers and key figures in politics and policy. In a rapid-fire series of social media posts, Trump on Monday belittled a push led by Anthropic PBC and OpenAI to slow work on cutting-edge systems, invoking bombastic language to dismiss existential fears about AI as “a hoax.” Later in the day, he made an impromptu call to Nvidia Corp. Chief Executive Officer Jensen Huang, who was onstage at a technology conference and put their conversation on speakerphone.
“The robots will not be taking over. AI will not be taking over the rest of the world,” Trump told Huang, who was a featured guest at the All-In summit in Los Angeles. “We have to do things, and we have to do them prudently, but that doesn’t mean we’re going to stop an industry.”Bloomberg Washington Correspondents Joe Mathieu and Kailey Leinz deliver insight and analysis on the latest headlines from the White House and Capitol Hill, including conversations with influential lawmakers and key figures in politics and policy. US job growth surged in August and the unemployment rate held steady, suggesting the labor market has more momentum than previously thought.
Nonfarm payrolls increased 162,000 last month and July’s job losses were revised away, according to Bureau of Labor Statistics data out Friday. The August increase topped all estimates in a Bloomberg survey. The unemployment rate remained at 4.1%.
The report indicates the labor market is powering through uncertainty from the Iran war and pressure from inflation. Federal Reserve officials will likely read it as bolstering the argument for raising interest rates, though next week’s consumer price data will prove key to the central bank’s decision later this month.Bloomberg Washington Correspondents Joe Mathieu and Kailey Leinz deliver insight and analysis on the latest headlines from the White House and Capitol Hill, including conversations with influential lawmakers and key figures in politics and policy. Tue, 01 Sep 2026 - 2035 - Weekly Washington Policy Pulse: Government Shutdown? Venezuela Deal (August 31, 2026)
With the House of Representatives returning to Washington after August recess, the likelihood of a government shutdown -- only 20% in our view -- led Bloomberg Intelligence's Aug. 31 Washington Policy Pulse. The House will most likely embrace a Senate deal that extends the government funding until Dec. 11 before leaving town to further campaign ahead of the midterm elections. A potential vote on a separate measure on a Russian sanctions package will likely be pushed back until after the election.
We also discussed President Donald Trump's announcement of a deal in Venezuela to have the US take a stake in Venezuela's oil fields. Analysis from BI's energy team suggest that while Chevron may embrace the deal, ConocoPhillips and ExxonMobil may be more hesitant. We also previewed a forthcoming meeting with energy executives at the White House on Sept. 2.

Overall, the retaliatory levies will affect $20 billion worth of annual US exports to Canada, roughly matching the dollar-value impact of the tariffs the White House put on Canadian products on Saturday. The prospects for peace in the Middle East suffered a fresh setback, with President Donald Trump saying he’s not interested in extending the expiring agreement with Iran and fighting flaring anew in Lebanon.
Asked whether he would seek an extension of the memorandum of understanding signed in June — which technically expires Monday — Trump told reporters, “No.” That truce was meant to give Washington and Tehran a window to reach a more lasting peace deal within 60 days.
As the Iran war approaches the six-month mark and tensions over the re-opening of the Strait of Hormuz have sparked flare-ups in hostilities, both sides have said the agreement is defunct. President Donald Trump claimed the US had “total control over the Hormuz Strait,” as Washington and Tehran hardened their positions in deadlocked negotiations over the critical waterway.
“We own it,” Trump told reporters at Joint Base Andrews outside Washington late Tuesday, an assertion Iran has dispelled via intermittent attacks on ships transiting the passage. “At some point, maybe they’ll do something, and then they get blown away.”
Trump has oscillated for months between threatening to resume attacks on Iran and expressing confidence that talks to bring an end to America’s war with the Islamic Republic are progressing. His latest comments came after Pakistan’s defense minister, Khawaja Asif, told Bloomberg in Islamabad that the two sides are “close to some sort of arrangement” over Hormuz, a key sticking point.Bloomberg Washington Correspondents Joe Mathieu and Kailey Leinz deliver insight and analysis on the latest headlines from the White House and Capitol Hill, including conversations with influential lawmakers and key figures in politics and policy. Moderate Democrat David Crowley defeated Democratic Socialist Francesca Hong in Wisconsin’s primary for governor, an upset in a race that had become a test of the party’s ideological direction.
Crowley had 39.8% of the vote to Hong’s 39.3%, with 99% of the expected vote counted, according to the AP. Decision Desk HQ also called the race for Crowley.
Crowley’s projected victory puts a check on recent momentum for the Democratic Party’s progressive wing, a week after Abdul El-Sayed defeated an establishment-backed candidate in Michigan’s primary for US Senate. But the close margin also showed the power of the party’s left flank, with Hong coming within reach of leading the ticket in a key battleground state.Bloomberg Washington Correspondents Joe Mathieu and Kailey Leinz deliver insight and analysis on the latest headlines from the White House and Capitol Hill, including conversations with influential lawmakers and key figures in politics and policy. Tue, 11 Aug 2026 - 2015 - Weekly Washington Policy Pulse: Trump, Congress September To-Do List (August 10, 2026)
With Congress now in August recess, President Donald Trump and Congress have a long list of items that may see action before the midterm elections. Yet with only a handful of days in September when both chambers are in action, many of the initiatives could prove to be no more than headline risks and opportunities for companies and sectors.
On Bloomberg Intelligence's August 10 Washington Policy Pulse, we discussed how a Senate continuing resolution to keep the government open until Dec. 11 -- which includes an extension of the Highway Authorization bill -- will likely be adopted, staving off, but not stopping a $580 billion highway package key for Vulcan, CRH and Marietta. We also looked what fares next for the CLARTY Act and Coinbase and Robinhood after it failed to pass the Senate before recess. Finally, we updated clients on the outlook for the farm bill, defense spending, and a bill that would allow President Donald Trump to place tariffs on countries that purchase oil from Russia.

US President Donald Trump signaled he’s prepared to let economic pressure on Iran build rather than launch fresh military strikes to force a reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, even as the Islamic Republic reiterated that the conditions still aren’t in place to allow free passage through the key waterway.
“We are just watching Iran with its huge inflation and the fact they have no money,” Trump told Axios in an interview on Sunday, saying that a US naval blockade of the country was deepening its financial woes. “We are low-keying it.”
The president’s comments mark a shift from his repeated threats to escalate the bombing campaign against Iran and come amid lingering talks between Tehran and Oman to reopen Hormuz. Iran has said it’s nearing a deal, while laying out a list of demands for Washington to meet before shipping can resume — including the lifting of sanctions.Bloomberg Washington Correspondents Joe Mathieu and Kailey Leinz deliver insight and analysis on the latest headlines from the White House and Capitol Hill, including conversations with influential lawmakers and key figures in politics and policy. The Senate voted to pass a slate of sweeping new sanctions against Russia Friday afternoon and extended existing sanctions against Iran. The bill faced pushback over its use of tariffs on countries that buy Russian oil, with some Democrats and Republican Rand Paul saying that would give President Trump too much authority to place new tariffs on countries like China and India. The Senate also made moves towards confirming Trump's nominee for Attorney General, Todd Blanche. Earlier in the day Senator Bill Cassidy of Louisiana said that he would back Blanche, clearing the way for his confirmation to the role. Giving remarks on the Senate floor Cassidy said, 'Mr. Blanche is not perfect, and he will tell you this, but the choice is not between perfection and Mr. Blanche. It is between Mr. Blanche and another acting attorney general, who may not run the department effectively under President Trump.'

President Donald Trump said he’s losing confidence in Iranian negotiators, the latest sign that the renewal of armed hostilities in the Middle East could drag on. Speaking during a Cabinet meeting on Friday, Trump took issue with missile attacks that Iran launched earlier this week against US forces in Jordan that ended a multi-day pause in fighting. “I’m losing faith in them because they do lie and do, they do misrepresent,” Trump told reporters during the meeting at the Camp David presidential retreat in Maryland.Meanwhile, Michigan’s Senate primary is emerging as the biggest test yet of whether the Democrats’ progressive wing can notch a major victory in a presidential battleground heading into 2028 — or if the movement’s historic shortfall with Black voters will undercut its national ambitions.

A look at the National Defense Authorization Act -- which could be voted upon by the House of Representatives this week -- led Bloomberg Intelligence's July 20 Washington Policy Pulse -- with a highlight of a Senate provision that would prohibit firms that contract with the Department of Defense from conducting stock buybacks or pay dividends. We think that the language, as written, could -- subject to liberal interpretation -- could apply to more firms than just defense contractors.
We also previewed what the US Trade Representative may do later this week as the deadline for President Donald Trump's Section 122 tariffs comes on July 24. We expect tariffs will be shifted to Section 301 tariffs, and could represent an increase for firms like Nike, Adidas, Lululemon and peers.
Finally, we discussed the House budget reconciliation efforts -- which aims to provide up to $60 billion in funds for the conflict with Iran -- and how that effort may struggle to become law.

We’re going to knock out all of their bridges unless they get to the table and negotiate.' Lawmakers also released a spending blueprint that would allocate more than $60 billion in funding for armed services.

Tue, 14 Jul 2026 - 1990 - Weekly Washington Policy Pulse: Graham Death, Crypto Bill Pass Odds?
A look at the fallout from Senator Lindsey Graham's unexpected death and the impact it has on reconciliation 3.0 chances, a potential for $350 billion in defense funding and the appropriations process led Bloomberg Intelligence's July 13 Washington Policy Pulse.
The death of the Senate Budget Committee chairman -- who was a key proponent of another reconciliation package -- probably puts further roadblocks on the idea and supports our view that such a package has a low chance of success in 2026.
We also discussed the forecast for the CLARITY Act and whether or not a crypto bill can pass in July. For crypto platforms like Robinhood and Coinbase, the failure to pass the bill in 2026 likely leaves the industry with regulatory certainty only for a few years, not long-term.
Finally, we previewed Fed Chairman Kevin Warsh's testimony on Capitol Hill and whether or not he will address bank regulatory matters important to Bank of America, Citigroup and Wells Fargo.

In a social media post over the weekend Trump remembered Graham as, "one of the greatest people and Senators I have ever known.” Graham was known as a staunch foreign policy hawk and had spent his final days in Ukraine working to support the country's fight against Russia and was pushing for an increased Russian sanctions package. Graham's death opens up questions about the legislative path forward in the Senate, as well as questions about who will succeed him in his seat.

President Donald Trump said the US would continue talks with Iran but considers the ceasefire between the countries to be over.
“The Islamic Republic of Iran has asked us to continue ‘talks.’ We have agreed to do so, but the United States has stated to them, in no uncertain terms, that the Cease Fire is OVER!,” Trump said Friday on social media.
The president’s comments follow several nights of US airstrikes and Iranian retaliation that sent oil prices higher and raised doubts about further talks toward a broader peace deal. The recent tensions, along with a US Treasury move to revoke a waiver allowing Iran to sell its oil globally posed the biggest challenges yet to an interim peace deal between Washington and Tehran.Bloomberg Washington Correspondents Joe Mathieu and Kailey Leinz deliver insight and analysis on the latest headlines from the White House and Capitol Hill, including conversations with influential lawmakers and key figures in politics and policy. NATO allies have agreed to at least $50 billion in defense industry deals, according to an alliance official, to show to US President Donald Trump that Europe is heeding his spending demands.
Secretary General Mark Rutte revealed some of the contracts on Tuesday during a defense industry forum in Ankara, Turkey’s capital, where the military alliance’s leaders are meeting for their annual summit this week. Those included $12 billion in deals to buy next-generation drones, surveillance planes and military aircraft.
Notably, some of the contracts show Europe moving to locally source some equipment it previously bought from the US. Eleven countries, for instance, will now buy airborne radar-detection systems from Swedish aerospace firm Saab AB, replacing a US-made Boeing Co. model. The deal is worth $5 billion, according to a NATO diplomat.Bloomberg Washington Correspondents Joe Mathieu and Kailey Leinz deliver insight and analysis on the latest headlines from the White House and Capitol Hill, including conversations with influential lawmakers and key figures in politics and policy. A divided US Supreme Court upheld the constitutional right of birthright citizenship, rejecting President Donald Trump’s planned restrictions and invalidating a central plank of his immigration agenda.
The court said an executive order Trump issued hours after his inauguration last year couldn’t be squared with the Constitution’s 14th Amendment, which has long been understood as guaranteeing citizenship to virtually everyone born on US soil.
The case tested what it means to be an American. Trump’s order sought to restrict birthright citizenship to babies with at least one parent who is a US citizen or green-card holder, affecting an estimated 250,000 children born to undocumented immigrants and temporary visitors each year.Bloomberg Washington Correspondents Joe Mathieu and Kailey Leinz deliver insight and analysis on the latest headlines from the White House and Capitol Hill, including conversations with influential lawmakers and key figures in politics and policy. Tue, 30 Jun 2026 - 1980 - Weekly Washington Policy Pulse: Defense Spending, Farm Aid, Fed, AI (June 29, 2026)
A look at the $87.6 billion supplemental spending request from the White House, which would earmark most of that to the Department of Defense and the conflict with Iran, led Bloomberg Intelligence's July 29 Washington Policy Pulse. However, the request may get a frosty reception on Capitol Hill from both sides of the aisle. Democrats will likely oppose any larger request tied to the conflict with Iran and Republicans may be concerned with messaging ahead of the US midterms. And while $11 billion in farm aid that was included in the request would have bipartisan support, it's inclusion in a larger bill makes it less of a chance of passing in 2026. Increased defense spending, if enacted, would likely be tied to counter-drone and anti-missile technology, aiding contractors like Lockheed Martin, RTX and Northrop Grumman.
Finally, we gave a slight preview of the Supreme Court's decision on the Federal Reserve Lisa Cook case, as well as highlighted upcoming legislation and hearings in July tied to artificial intelligence. While US policy on AI remains high-level and "light-touch", there is growing dissent with the sector with both Republicans and Democrats.

A closely divided US Supreme Court reinforced the Federal Reserve’s independence from the White House, protecting governors from being fired by the president without proof of wrongdoing.
The Fed shield came even as the court in a separate ruling Monday expanded the president’s power to fire top government officials at other federal agencies in a blockbuster ruling that overturns a 91-year-old precedent.
Voting 5-4, the high court said Fed Governor Lisa Cook can stay in her job while she fights Trump’s bid to oust her over unproven mortgage fraud allegations. Donald Trump and Republicans in the US Senate squabbled on Wednesday, as the president abruptly canceled plans to sign a bipartisan housing bill and lawmakers pressed him over his handling of the war in Iran.
Trump’s refusal to sign the legislation came shortly before a private luncheon with Senate Republicans at the US Capitol, where tensions quickly flared. Louisiana Republican Bill Cassidy, whose Senate career Trump helped end, repeatedly criticized the president over the Middle East conflict, while Senate Majority Leader John Thune tried to play peacemaker, a person familiar said. Spokespeople for Cassidy and Thune did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
The president defended his war effort, telling senators he is the first president to do something to stop Iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon, said another person familiar with the matter, who requested anonymity to describe the closed-door exchange. Senator Jon Husted, a Republican from Ohio, described the Cassidy-Trump exchange as “memorable” but declined to say more.Bloomberg Washington Correspondents Joe Mathieu and Kailey Leinz deliver insight and analysis on the latest headlines from the White House and Capitol Hill, including conversations with influential lawmakers and key figures in politics and policy. Tue, 23 Jun 2026 - 1973 - Weekly Washington Policy Pulse: Trump's Housing Plans, Fintech, Iran (June 22, 2026)
A preview of Senate and House plans this week to vote on a package that incorporates President Donald Trump's wishes on banning institutional investors from purchasing single-family homes led Bloomberg Intelligence's June 22 Washington Policy Pulse. Yet while corporate entities won't be able to purchase more than 350 homes, it's important to note for single-family REITs like Invitation Homes and AMH, the impact may be lessened by exemptions in the bill. The bill also doesn't contain language that would require build-to-rent communities from being required to divest rental communities after seven years.
We also discussed upcoming Congressional hearings on the Fintech and digital asset sectors and why Washington will likely be in a lull period for the fintech space, limiting policy risk for Visa, Mastercard and Stripe for now.
Finally, we gave a slight preview of some of the comment letters banking trade associations provided in regards to a capital requirement raising proposal called the Basel III endgame. Much of the sector hopes that the Fed will allow further capital reductions, which we currently estimate to be around $18 billion for the largest banks including JPMorgan and Bank of America.

The US issued a 60-day license allowing Iran to sell oil on the international market, giving Tehran an economic lifeline as the two adversaries continued talks for a permanent peace deal.
Vice President JD Vance, attending the discussions in Switzerland, described the first round of negotiations as “very very good” and said Iran had agreed to allow nuclear inspectors back into the country — a claim later backed up by President Donald Trump. But Iranian officials, who also cited progress, challenged that claim, saying Vance’s assertion was “false and does not reflect reality.”
The discrepancy underscored the challenges that remain ahead as the two sides look to fulfill a memorandum of understanding signed last week to halt their conflict and pave the way for a long-term deal. That agreement left key issues unresolved while also aiming to give Iran immediate financial benefit, a dynamic that drew fierce criticism from Trump’s Republican allies.Bloomberg Washington Correspondents Joe Mathieu and Kailey Leinz deliver insight and analysis on the latest headlines from the White House and Capitol Hill, including conversations with influential lawmakers and key figures in politics and policy.
