Still nil nil

Have you ever wondered which Premier League striker would make the best chef? Of course you haven’t, but in Episode 12 of Still nil nil, we hypothetically discuss this conundrum anyway. There is of course the return of the popular appearance-based games #6DOS and Sam vs Sam, with a fantasy football preview thrown in for good measure – remember that there is a trophy on the line here (a multi-functional trophy… find out to listen). There may even be a couple of tidbits for your digestion over the course of the episode.

At long last (sorry!) we have finally dug deep and found the strength to record Episode 11 of Still nil nil. Heroes. We kick off proceedings with a brief review of the premier league conclusion, before our standard discussion regarding the results of the listeners poll, in which we asked you guys who you think will win the Champions League. There may well be some dodgy opinions voiced, and one of the hosts picks may well already have gone out… Most notably in this episode, the boys combine to educate the listeners on the concept of a tidbit, before taking on two separate #6DOS challenges. Will Wiggett extend his lead in Sam vs Sam, or will Greaves finally restore parity?

DOUBLE FIGURES! We have made it to Episode 10 of Still nil nil, and we celebrate in style by doing all the regular segments… With the aid of the listeners poll results, the boys discuss which elite Premier League duo would be most successful in a game of Wembley Doubles (other regional variations of the name are available), chat about recent football events by each picking a ‘champ’ and a ‘chump’ of the week, and of course partake in the now legendary (right?!?) games of 6DOS and Sam vs Sam. Will Wiggett strengthen his grip on the Coupe du Samuel?

As behind-closed-doors football becomes the ‘new normal’, so does the inclusion of guests in Still nil nil, as episode 9 yet again features a game of ‘Sams vs Fans’. Prior to this, the lads decide who their ‘Champ and Chump’ of the last weeks football is, and the Premier Leagues best ever one season wonder is debated, of course aided by the results of the listeners poll. As is customary, the six Desaillys of separation returns once more.

It’s all change in Episode 8 of Still nil nil, as live football returns to the Premier League and guests are welcomed to take part in a game of ‘Sams vs Fans’. The main events from the first round of Premier League fixtures are discussed, as well as a somewhat surreal deliberation over which member of England’s 2010 World Cup squad you’d want defending you in a court of law. Prior to the welcoming of the guests, the ‘Sams’ face a surprisingly tough challenge in The Six Desaillys of Separation, but will they make the connection?

In this episode of Still nil nil, the lads discuss which legendary footballer their 12-year-old self would most want to run their summer football camp, assisted by the results of the listeners poll (which may or may not have been hijacked by Instagram bots). The ‘not so breaking news’ throws up a very interesting debate surrounding the viability of a salary cap in the Premier League, inevitably drawing comparisons to the NFL. There is no more Marcel Desailly in the ‘six Desaillys of separation’, with Mark having thought long and hard about this week’s replacement, and there is yet another contentious game of ‘Sam vs Sam’. Listener questions include a battle between Roy Keane and Vinnie Jones for ultimate hard man status, and the tough decision of choosing between being a fan in a successful Championship campaign or a long and arduous Premier League campaign. Wiggett has now largely recovered from his cold.

In what is sadly the sixth and final appearance of Marcel Desailly in the self-titled game of ‘The six Desaillys of separation’, the boys decide which Premier League manager they would like to organise and attend their stag do, discuss their varying approaches to the upcoming congested schedule of televised games, and of course follow up Marcel’s testimonial with a shocking game of ‘Sam vs Sam’. In answering listeners questions the lads reveal their favourite ever football, and which England international they’d most like to date their sister.

In this fifth instalment of Still nil nil, the results of the ‘favourite playground football game’ poll are revealed and discussed, with the boys sharing their extensive memories of all the games on offer. In the ‘Not so breaking news’, Greaves brings the topic of home advantage to the table, with the initial resumption of the Bundesliga suggesting a complete eradication of this phenomenon. There is of course the return of the much loved appearance based games, ‘the six Desaillys of separation’ and ‘Sam vs Sam’, with this week throwing up two particularly tight and tense encounters. There is a real fan focus in ‘What the football!?’ and listeners questions, as Wiggett pushes for greater fan involvement, and the concept of a boyhood fan playing for their club is discussed.

The fourth episode, can you believe it? This week, the boys discuss the highly elusive dark art of shithousery, and subsequently attempt the difficult task of determining who the biggest shithouse in football is. With elite football now being ‘back on the menu’ in the form of the Bundesliga, Mark, Greaves and Wiggett compare their experiences of watching the games over the weekend. As ever, there is the return of now textbook games; the Six Desaillys of Separation and Sam vs Sam. Mark brings this weeks contentious opinion in ‘What the Football!?’ and listeners questions are of course answered.

In the third instalment of Still nil nil, the boys debate which club has the right to be considered the biggest outside of the Premier League, assisted by the results of the listener poll, and discuss the very serious issue of the facilitation of racist abuse by social media. There is of course the return of the Six Desaillys of separation and ‘Sam vs Sam’, with Greaves and Wiggett attempting to resist the urge to include Scott Parker in their solution. Greaves brings this weeks controversial opinion in ‘What the Football!?’ and listener questions are answered. Again, many beers were harmed during the recording of this podcast.

In episode two of Still nil nil, Mark, Greaves and Wiggett debate the ethical and commercial issues surrounding the prospective takeover of Newcastle United; a highly contentious topic which unearths some differences of opinion. The results of the listener poll determining the greatest ever Premier League centre back partnership are revealed and discussed, and of course there is the return of the popular “Six Desailly’s of Separation”. The boys continue to make their way through listener questions, and there is the introduction of a new game for listeners to play along to. Be warned, many a beer were consumed during this recording.

It’s not just fun and games, however, as the boys discuss the complex reality of ‘Project Restart’, and differences of opinion are revealed and debated in the feature known as ‘What the football?!’
