If we looked back at the end of our lives and saw all the hours, days, weeks and months that we spent on social media or beyond that avoiding discomfort do you think you’d say it was worth it? 

This is to a message to start acting for the future, live in the now but act for the future. I’d you want to be mentally healthier her etc. you have to act now you have to make changes now.

Let's talk about beauty standards/ beauty pressures that we feel from society today. It's no secret social media has made it easier than ever to feel insecure, dissatisfied with your natural, God given beauty. In my opinion, the procedures etc. aren't the biggest problem. It's the attention these things get. Lucky for us we get to choose what we consume, choose what we give attention to! Let's drop the judgment on ourselves and others! Focus on our decisions, our choices. Some people don't think social media is that big of a deal, but for a lot of people social media is a huge deal. The impact of social media is no joke. I deleted social media over 8 years ago! There's something very specific I did not long after leaving that has made all the difference in my being able to quit and actually stay off for good. In a world where we spend all this time getting to know other people, making new friends, consuming others lives to try to get an idea of who they are, how much time do we spend on ourselves? Getting to know ourselves, It’s so important to know, YOU.

So many wonderful feelings and confirmations come when we truly know ourselves. It’s worth the effort, the discomfort, the deciphering that we might need to go through as we transition through change.

ACTION STEP: Make time for yourself. Take yourself to lunch alone, create space either physically or mentally or both to allow yourself to think your thoughts without the influence of others and to get to know you! She wrote: "I would love to hear you talk about the crazy, endless, and over-the-top photoshoots people have for every life event and plaster all over social media...." ACTION STEP: I challenge you to do something noteworthy, exciting, go somewhere beautiful and don't document it and especially don’t share it. Just FEEL the moment take it all in close your eyes and awakened senses that haven’t gotten to be active in awhile. How many of us let fear hold us back from doing..whatever it is we feel called to do?? I'm holding my hand up and i'm sure you are too. Which brings me to our topic today, FEAR! Fears that hold us back from doing things that we would like to do things that we know would bring us a better outcome or fill a space in our life that has a hole. Imagine if we all could find the courage to face our fears in whatever area of life it might be- imagine the lives we could be living out right now? So for those of you who don’t know i quit social media over 8 years ago now! Gosh its crazy how time flies! I remember making one of my first youtube videos that i titled why i left instagram 3 years ago and never looked back, and to think that was 5 years ago is so crazy! It feels like yesterday i sat down to film that video.   So in celebration of being offline for over 8 years, I thought i'd share 8 things i've learned in 8 years offline! Having perspective is KEY. Especially when it comes to leaving social media. In this episode I talk about developing long term perspective and keeping it top of mind because it's great to learn these things but it won't mean a thing unless you can keep your perspective long term and not let it slowly fade away each day as you get closer to your goal but it still feels so far away. Life offline is wonderful. It's slower, it's beautiful, it's free of the unnecessary noise and opinions of the world about who you should be. Hey it’s Carly Burr and this is taking life offline! I’ve been off all Social media  for over 8 years now aside from YouTube where I’ve chosen to be to try my best to encourage and inspire others to join me on this path less travelled!

I’m here to encourage you to take your life offline. YES leave social media, live more simply, peacefully, more present and more in line with Gods will for you and your life.  

It’s hard to hear a still small voice when you’re being flooded with all the noise of the world.  

It’s time to live more intentionally, to put not just the social media away but the phone down.  When we’re online it feels like we need to be moving quickly, chasing the next thing that will only give us satisfaction and fulfillment for a short time. 

Why do you think we’re such an unhappy, self obsessed, distracted, depressed, overworked, under-loved and unfulfilled society? We’re getting it all wrong and this is something i’ve discovered and experienced for myself in my 8 years and counting offline.  

I’m promoting this path less travelled offline as it’s never failed to bring me closer to myself, what matters most, and Gods will for me.  

And i want nothing more than for you to experience this too I believe there’s a shift happening, subtle but sure. Going offline wont be easy for most, but it will be worth it and thats why i’m here! 

I’m here to be your cheerleader, your motivator, your friend along this journey as you take the leap to join me and many others from around the world on this path less traveled.

I hope to give you the courage to do something hard! To do something against the grain and help you feel less alone in the struggle that i know it often is to go offline.   

I’m creating this to meet you where you are and help you get to where you want to be.  

On this podcast i’ll also be sharing the conversations I'm having with those of you offline through my letter that i’m so lucky to be in contact with.  we’re going to be building a foundation together for you for your life offline so each Monday i’ll be challenging you to take action on anything that speaks to you as you listen, let your thoughts become your actions  and watch yourself begin to feel more alive than ever before as you take steps on this path less traveled.
