Stella Glorie speaks with Cassandra Chiu and Andrew Chew, chair and board member of K9 Assistance based in Singapore, an organisation which launched in 2020 to provide assistance dogs for people with disabilities throughout Singapore.
Both Cassandra and Andrew are blind and Cassandra is one of the first Seeing Eye Dog users in Singapore, and they recently visited Vision Australia to gain knowledge and expertise from the Seeing Eye Dogs branch of Vision Australia to bring back to K9.
Then later in the program this week Bethany Cody catches up with Brittnee Watson. Both Bethany and Brittnee have tattoos and through their shared lived experience with low vision, they seek to bust the misconceptions and discrimination faced by people from the blind and low vision community who are interested in getting tattoos.

This week on Talking Vision you’ll hear from Brenda, a disability advocate, volunteer and keen lawn bowler who lost her vision late in life. Brenda catches up with Matthew Layton as part of the Let’s talk about vision loss series, which explores the lives and achievements of people who have experienced vision loss.
Policy and advocacy team leader Jane Britt from Blind Citizens Australia also joins the show to speak about her work advocating for people who are blind or have low vision.
It was this advocacy work which saw Jane win a Vision Australia youth award in 2020. She joins Stella to talk about the awards, which are now open for nominations until the 12th of August.
Then finally on the show this week, Sam catches up for a super quick chat with retinitis pigmentosa advocate and Big Brother superfan Bethany Cody. We get her thoughts and share in the exciting news about winner of Big Brother Reggie Sorensen who, like Bethany, has lived experience with RP.

Sam catches up with Graham Pearce, a Wikipedia administrator from Busselton in Western Australia. Graham has been working as an administrator for the past 17 years, and he speaks to me all about the highlights of this time as well as the connections and friendships he’s made in the Wikipedia community along the way.
Then later in the show we’re very excited to welcome Blind Australian of the Year finalist and PhD candidate Arkan Yousef to Talking Vision. Arkan joined Sam recently to speak about his life teaching in Iraq, moving to Australia after experiencing vision loss later in life, and his volunteer work in Western Sydney over the past 16 years.
