  • 88 - Sn 5 Ep 14: Drawing from the Wells of the World

In this episode I reflect from the story of Jesus' encounter with the Samaritan woman at the well in John 4. This story has a deeper eschatological, and in summary Christ is sitting by the wells of the world, asking His the church that is still obsessed with drinking water that cannot cure thirst, to drink from him.

In Isaiah 55:3, Christ is entreating the church to buy from him wine and milk at no cost.

What is that well of the world that you are continually drawing from, looking to quench your thirst? Christ was not talking about literal water, as the woman of Samaria understood.

The beauty of this story is that the Samaritan woman witnessed of the Messiah to her townspeople, and they accepted Christ, whilst the Jews, who were the custodians of true religion, rejected God.

This was also a foreshadowing of the moment the Gospel would be taken away from the Jews and preached to the Gentiles, who would be saved through faith.

  • 87 - Sn 5 Ep 13: Apostasy in the Temple

In this episode, I go back and forth the books of Jeremiah and Ezekiel to draw parallels between the spiritual state of the nation of Judah before exile and the church of today.

If we are going to go to heaven, then we need a total transformation. We need it as individuals and we need it as a church.

Christ says to the church of Laodecia, that behold he is standing at the door knocking, willing anyone who is listening to open the door so that he may come in.

Thank you for stopping by and for listening. I hope you are blessed.

  • 86 - Sn 5 Ep 12: You Don't Have to Pass Every Trial

In this episode, I talk about trials and tribulations. One of the things that Christ commends the early church on, in His letters to the seven churches is, their "endurance". He also encourages the believers in the church of Smyrna to prepare to endure 10 days of tribulation. Paul writes to Timothy and tells him that, "In fact, everyone who wants to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be prosecuted." (2 Timothy 3:12). Christ also told his disciples in John 16:33 that, "In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world" (John 16:33).

My main message is this: you will go through trials as a believer. And it is a good thing that your faith is tested so that you know whether you are standing strong. But Isaiah 43:2 is a beautiful message from God that you are not alone in these trials. There is a fourth man in the fire with you and you will not be burnt.

  • 85 - Sn 5 Ep 11: A Lamp Under the Bed

In Mat 5:14-16, Christ talks about a city on a hill, whose light can be seen by everyone. He also likens us to a lamp that is put on a lampstand to light the whole room instead of being hidden under the bed. He says nobody lights a lamp to place it under the bed.

Where is your lamp? Is your lamp hidden under the bed where it cannot shade light to a room full of unbelievers who are in dire need of light.

In this episode I implore you and me to truly shine in private as well as in public. It is of no use to be a Christian in private, while denying Christ in public through our actions.

  • 84 - Sn 5 Ep 10: A Faithful God and a Rebellious Israel

Have you ever thought about why Israel did not manage to continuously obey the Lord and walk in His ways, even though God did everything He could including manifesting His power in miracles that have never been seen before?

In Psalms 78, David recounts the failure of his ancestors and how they kept rebelling against God even when He showed the care every other time. And here is a lesson to us: God remains faithful even when we leave him to chase after idols. There is nothing our God cannot do for us, yet we always leave him to unite ourselves in idols and the ways of the world. But His hand is ever extended to us, pleading that we should come back and find rest.
