Friends of the Rosary,
In the Gospel today (Luke 10:38-42), Martha and Mary remind us that service matters, but it must stay rooted in listening to Jesus.
Christ the Lord was in the household of Bethany with his friends, Martha, Mary, and Lazarus—although this passage in Luke does not mention them.
Mary was sitting beside the Lord at his feet, listening to him speak.
Martha, burdened with much serving, came to him and said,
“Lord, do you not care
that my sister has left me by myself to do the serving?
Tell her to help me.”The Lord said to her in reply,
“Martha, Martha, you are anxious and worried about many things.
There is need of only one thing.
Mary has chosen the better part
and it will not be taken from her.”The teaching is clear: serving with love, but also teaching us to pause, listen, and choose the better part: His presence.
Ave Maria!

Tue, 06 Oct 2026 - 30min - 2291 - October 5, 2026, Memorial of St. Faustina Kowalska, Virgin, Holy Rosary (Joyful Mysteries)
Friends of the Rosary,
Today, October 5, 2026, is the memorial of Saint Faustina Kowalska, Virgin (1905-1938), a Polish nun chosen by Jesus to remind the world of the mystery of God's merciful love and the devotion to Divine Mercy.
It is the message, as old as eternity, of the Lord's love for all people, especially sinners. Jesus said to Faustina, "Today I am sending you with my mercy to the people of the whole world."
On February 22, 1931, Jesus appeared to Faustina as the King of Divine Mercy. He asked her to have a picture painted of him as she saw him — clothed in white, with red and white rays of light streaming from his heart. The rays represent the blood and water that flowed from Jesus' side on the cross. Under the image are the words, "Jesus, I trust in you."
The sisters in her own convent thought that Jesus could not possibly have selected her — after all, a poor and uneducated peasant girl — for this great favor. Church theologians, too, doubted her word. Jesus told Faustina that he loved her obedience and that his will would be done in the end.
In June 1934, an artist completed the painting of the Divine Mercy according to her instructions, and it soon became a focus for devotion. Faustina continued to record Jesus's appearances in her diary. The diary was translated into English and published in 1987 with the title Divine Mercy in My Soul.
About 10 years later, Faustina contracted tuberculosis, and she was given the job of gatekeeper. There, she showed mercy to the poor people who came to the convent seeking food. Once, Jesus came to the door as a poor young man. After he had eaten the soup and bread Faustina gave him, she recognized him. Jesus told her he had come to experience her tender love and mercy with great joy.
Faustina was canonized by the first Polish pope, John Paul II, on April 30, 2000.
The first Sunday after Easter was declared Divine Mercy Sunday.

Friends of the Rosary,
God lovingly planted and cared for His vineyard, asking laborers — all of us — for fruit: justice, faithfulness, and love.
But He warned that the Kingdom would be entrusted to those who bear good fruit — the faithful and grateful servants.
As we read today (Matthew 21:33-43), Jesus said to the chief priests and the elders of the people:
"Did you never read in the Scriptures:
The stone that the builders rejected
has become the cornerstone;
by the Lord has this been done,
and it is wonderful in our eyes?
Therefore, I say to you,
the kingdom of God will be taken away from you
and given to a people that will produce its fruit."In our Sunday prayer, we ask the Lord to make our hearts fruitful, free us from anxiety, and teach us to pray with trust.
We follow Paul, who reminds us today (Philippians 4:6-9) not to live in anxiety but to bring everything to God in prayer.
Today is the feast of St. Francis of Assisi, which is superseded by the Sunday Liturgy.

Friends of the Rosary,
Lord Jesus said to the seventy-two disciples who returned rejoicing, saying that even the demons were subject to them — as we read today (Luke 10:17-24):
"Do not rejoice because the spirits are subject to you, but rejoice because your names are written in heaven."
Later, turning to the disciples in private, he said,
"Blessed are the eyes that see what you see.
For I say to you,
many prophets and kings desired to see what you see,
but did not see it,
and to hear what you hear, but did not hear it."Indeed, Christ Jesus is giving us wisdom to see how the Creation has been designed and works.
"I give you praise, Father, Lord of heaven and earth,
for although you have hidden these things
from the wise and the learned
you have revealed them to the childlike.
Yes, Father, such has been your gracious will."Ave Maria!

Sat, 03 Oct 2026 - 32min - 2288 - October 2, 2026, Memorial of the Holy Guardian Angels, Holy Rosary (Sorrowful Mysteries)
Friends of the Rosary,
Today, October 2, 2026, the first Friday of the month, is the Memorial of the Holy Guardian Angels, who watch over us, lead us closer to God, and help us to attain salvation.
In His providence and in His intimate concern for each person's welfare, God gives us guardian angels to serve as protectors and guides throughout our lives, from the moment the soul is infused at conception.
Each person on earth has a guardian whose mission is to conduct us safely through the perils of our earthly life into the joys of the eternal life in heaven. When we seek to win the joys of heaven, we can count on their powerful help.
In unseen ways, the angels — servants and messengers of God — help us on our earthly pilgrimage by assisting us in work and study, helping us in times of temptation, and protecting us from physical danger.
The Catechism of the Catholic Church states that "the existence of the spiritual, non-corporeal beings that Sacred Scripture usually calls 'angels' is a truth of faith (328)."
Saint Francis de Sales said, “Specially love and revere the Guardian Angel of the diocese in which you live, those of the friends who surround you, and your own. Commune with them frequently, join in their songs of praise, and seek their protection and help in all you do, spiritual or temporal.”
Today's feast appeared in Spain during the sixteenth century. It was extended to the universal Church and made obligatory in 1670.In today's Gospel, God reminds Job that His wisdom surpasses human understanding. The Psalm says God knows and guides us completely. In the second reading (Matthew 18:1-5, 10), Jesus points to childlike humility and reminds us that the little ones are watched over by angels before the Father.
"Amen, I say to you, unless you turn and become like children, you will not enter the Kingdom of heaven. Whoever humbles himself like this child is the greatest in the Kingdom of heaven. And whoever receives one child such as this in my name receives me."

Fri, 02 Oct 2026 - 30min - 2287 - October 1, 2026, Memorial of St. Thérèse of the Child Jesus, Holy Rosary (Luminous Mysteries)
Friends of the Rosary,
Today, October 1, the Church celebrates the Memorial of Saint Thérèse of the Child Jesus (1873-1897), Virgin and Doctor of the Church, more popularly known as "the Little Flower."
Born in Alençon, France, to Saints Louis and Zélie Martin, this nineteenth-century cloistered Carmelite reminds us that holiness can be lived through small acts done with great love — her “Little Way” of confidence and love.
Thérèse's mother died when she was four, and at age fifteen she followed her two older sisters into the Carmel at Lisieux, France. For the next nine years she lived a very ordinary religious life. There are no miracles, exploits, or austerities recorded of her.
Enduring extreme penances, Thérèse declared, “It is sufficient to acknowledge one’s nothingness and to abandon oneself like a child to God’s arms."
She attained a very high degree of holiness by carrying out her ordinary daily duties with perfect fidelity, having a childlike confidence in God's providence and merciful love, and being ready to serve others at all times.
She also had a great love of the Church and a zeal for the conversion of souls. She prayed especially for priests.
She died of consumption on September 30, 1897, at the age of 24, and was canonized in 1925.
She has never ceased to fulfill her promise: "I will pass my heaven in doing good on earth."
“My God, I love you!” was her final prayer.
Her inner life is known through her autobiography, Story of a Soul.

Thu, 01 Oct 2026 - 30min - 2286 - September 30, 2026, Feast of St. Jerome, Priest and Doctor of the Church, Holy Rosary (Glorious Mysteries)
Friends of the Rosary,
Following Christ the Lord means trusting His wisdom even when we cannot understand everything.
In today’s Gospel (Luke 9:57-62), Jesus teaches that discipleship requires a whole, steady heart to follow him, not delay or look back.
He said,
“No one who sets a hand to the plow and looks to what was left behind is fit for the Kingdom of God.”
Without hesitation, Job in the first reading (Job 9:1-12, 14-16) recognized God’s greatness and mystery, while Saint Jerome, Priest and Doctor of the Church, and the saint of today, showed us how to love His Word more deeply.
About Saint Jerome, who in paintings sometimes holds a large rock as a symbol of mortification, after receiving a fine education in the classics in Rome, he settled in a cave in Bethlehem out of an intense devotion to Christ’s life. He studied Hebrew in penance for temptations. The greatest fruit of his lifelong study and writing was the Vulgate, the popular Latin translation of the Bible commissioned by Pope Damasus. He died in 420 and is one of the four great Latin Fathers of the Church.

Wed, 30 Sep 2026 - 28min - 2285 - September 29, 2026, Feast of Sts. Michael, Gabriel and Raphael, Archangels, Holy Rosary (Sorrowful Mysteries)
Friends of the Rosary,
The Catholic Church celebrates today, September 29, the Feast of the venerated archangels Saints Michael, Gabriel, and Raphael.
Michael (who is like God?) was the archangel who fought against Satan and all his evil angels, defending all God's friends. He is the protector of all humanity from the snares of the devil.
Gabriel (Strength of God) announced to Zachariah the forthcoming birth of John the Baptist, and to Mary, the birth of Jesus, with his greeting to the Virgin, "Hail, full of grace."
Raphael (Medicine of God) is the archangel who cared for Tobias on his journey.
The Catechism of the Catholic Church teaches us that, "The existence of the spiritual, non-corporeal beings that Sacred Scripture usually calls 'angels' is a truth of faith. The witness of Scripture is as clear as the unanimity of Tradition. In her liturgy, the Church joins with the angels to adore the thrice-holy God." (#328).
Angels are pure, created spirits, servants or messengers of God. They are heavenly beings of a higher order than human beings. Angels have no bodies and do not depend on matter for their existence or activity. They are distinct from saints, which men can become. Angels have intellect and will, and are immortal. They are a vast multitude, but each is an individual person.
Archangels are one of the nine choirs of angels listed in the Bible. In ascending order, the choirs or classes are 1) Angels, 2) Archangels, 3) Principalities, 4) Powers, 5) Virtues, 6) Dominations, 7) Thrones, 8) Cherubim, and 9) Seraphim.

Friends of the Rosary,As we discover in the Book of Job today (1:6-22), a wealthy, righteous man named Job lost almost everything (his children, wealth, and health) due to a test allowed by God and instigated by "the adversary". Yet Job didn’t turn against the Divinity. He had trust in the Lord with a child's humility.
“The Lord gave, and the Lord has taken away; blessed be the name of the Lord!," he concluded.
In all this Job did not sin, nor did he say anything disrespectful of God.
And connected to this passage of the Book of Job—– which is an ancient piece of wisdom literature in the Hebrew Bible and Christian Old Testament that explores why innocent people suffer—, in the Gospel today (Luke 9:46-50), Jesus teaches that true greatness is found in humility and service, not status, and that we should not be jealous when others do good in His name.
Faithfulness means trusting God even when life becomes painful or confusing.

Friends of the Rosary,
“Tax collectors and prostitutes are entering the kingdom of God are entering the kingdom of God before you,” said Christ the Lord to the chief priests and elders of the people, as we read in the Gospel today (Matthew 21:28-32), the twenty-sixth Sunday in ordinary time.
He explained why.
"When John came to you in the way of righteousness,
you did not believe him;
but tax collectors and prostitutes did.
Yet even when you saw that,
you did not later change your minds and believe him."This means that when someone encounters Jesus Christ, he finds everything he needs to be happy — and to enter the Kingdom.
The Lord is infinitely more attractive than the false delights of this earthly world.
The main reading also shows that saying “yes” is not enough if our actions say “no.”
Saint Paul's passage points us to the humility of Christ, who emptied Himself and obeyed the Father completely, encouraging us to repent, become humble like Christ, and let our obedience be real.

Friends of the Rosary,
Today, Saturday, the day of the Blessed Mother Mary, and the feast day of Saint Cosmas and Damian, Martyrs, we see Our Lord foretelling his imminent death (Luke 9:43b-45). He said to his disciples:
“Pay attention to what I am telling you.
The Son of Man is to be handed over to men.”The disciples, while amazed at his every deed, were unable to understand the meaning of Jesus' words. Luke the Evangelist writes,
"Its meaning was hidden from them
so that they should not understand it,
and they were afraid to ask him about this saying."Christ the Lord spoke frequently of his “hour,” the culmination of his life’s work, the mystery of the glorification through the cross.
He was sent by the Father for the assault on death through the crucifixion.
"As a parent would go anywhere in order to rescue his child, so God, the parent of the human race, went into the darkest reaches of body and soul in order to save us. And therefore this is the meaning of the cross: God is heartbroken love," writes Bishop Barron today.
St. Paul explained (2 Timothy 1:10): "Our Savior Christ Jesus destroyed death and brought life to light through the Gospel."

Friends of the Rosary,
Today, Ecclesiastes (Ecclesiastes 3:1-11) reminds us that life has seasons: joy and sorrow, building and letting go, speaking and silence. God has a time for everything.
"There is an appointed time for everything,
and a time for everything under the heavens.
A time to be born, and a time to die;
a time to plant, and a time to uproot the plant.
A time to kill, and a time to heal;
a time to tear down, and a time to build.
A time to weep, and a time to laugh;
a time to mourn, and a time to dance.
A time to scatter stones, and a time to gather them;
a time to embrace, and a time to be far from embraces.
A time to seek, and a time to lose;
a time to keep, and a time to cast away.
A time to rend, and a time to sew;
a time to be silent, and a time to speak.
A time to love, and a time to hate;
a time of war, and a time of peace."Also, today in the Gospel (Luke 9:18-22), Jesus asks, “Who do you say that I am?”
We are encouraged to trust God’s timing and to answer Christ personally, not just out of habit, with the courage to follow Him and a heart that can say, as Peter did: You are the Christ of God.

Friends of the Rosary,
In today’s Gospel (Luke 9:7-9), we see that tetrarch Herod, after beheading John the Baptist, was interested and perplexed by what he was hearing about Jesus. St. Luke recounts what people were saying:
“John has been raised from the dead”;
others were saying, “Elijah has appeared”;
still others, “One of the ancient prophets has arisen.”As Bishop Barron explains, political rulers (Cesar Augustus, Herod, Pontius Pilot, don’t come across well in the New Testament, and Jewish authorities are seen as corrupt. They all perceive Christ the Lord as a threat.
“Then you are a king?” Pilate asked him. Jesus replied, “My kingdom does not belong to this world.”
Of course, Jesus was concerned for the realities of politics and worldly powers, as well as the realm of sin, selfishness, hatred, and violence.
But his concerns were justice, peace, and right order, as they are in the Kingdom of Heaven.

Friends of the Rosary,
Today, September 23, the Catholic Church celebrates the Memorial of St. Pius of Pietrelcina (1887-1968), known as Padre Pio, a Capuchin Friar who, for fifty years at the monastery of San Giovanni Rotondo, was a much-sought-after spiritual advisor, confessor, and intercessor.
The Italian priest himself became a pilgrimage site for both the pious and the curious. He would hear confessions by the hour, reportedly able to read the consciences of those who held back, able to bi-locate, levitate, and heal by touch.
Yet despite such notoriety (and spiritual powers), this saint of the last century, whose life was devoted to the Eucharist and prayer, would often say, "I only want to be a poor friar who prays."
On September 20, 1918, while praying before a cross, Padre Pio received the stigmata. He was the first priest ever to be so blessed. However, having this gift of the stigmata was very hard on his life — both physically and emotionally.
In 1956, he founded the House for the Relief of Suffering, a hospital that serves 60,000 a year. Padre Pio died on September 23, 1968, at age 81.
Today there are over 400,000 members worldwide in prayer groups begun by Padre Pio in the 1920s.

Friends of the Rosary,
In the Gospel of Luke (8:19-21), Christ Jesus says that His true family is “those who hear the word of God and act on it.”
The mother of Jesus and his brothers came to him
but were unable to join him because of the crowd.
He was told, “Your mother and your brothers are standing outside,
and they wish to see you.”
He said to them in reply,“My mother and my brothers
are those who hear the word of God and act on it.”Tuesday’s message is simple and direct: faith is not just listening, agreeing, or admiring from a distance.
Faith becomes real when it shapes our choices, our mercy, our honesty, and our obedience.
We ask Our Lord to help us not only to hear His word, but to live it!

Tue, 22 Sep 2026 - 30min - 2277 - September 21, 2026, Feast of St. Matthew, Apostle and Evangelist, Holy Rosary (Joyful Mysteries)
Friends of the Rosary,
Today, September 21, we celebrate the Feast of St. Matthew, Apostle and Evangelist.
As the author of the Gospel of Matthew in the New Testament, the apostle emphasizes Jesus as the fulfillment of the Old Testament promises and tries to convince the Jews that their anticipated Messiah had come in the person of Jesus.
Matthew was a publican, that is, a tax-collector for the Romans. His profession was hateful to the Jews because it reminded them of their subjection while robbing his own people and making a large personal profit.
In addition, the Pharisees were seeing him as the typical sinner. Publicans were not allowed to trade, eat, or even pray with other Jews.
One day, while seated at his table of books and money, Jesus looked at Matthew and said two words: "Follow me." That was all it took to make Matthew rise, leave his pieces of silver, and follow Christ.
His original name, "Levi," in Hebrew signifies "Adhesion," while his new name in Christ, Matthew, means "Gift of God."
The other outstanding mention of Matthew in the Gospels is the dinner party for Christ and His companions to which he invited his fellow tax-collectors. The Jews were surprised to see Jesus with a publican, but Jesus explained that he had come "not to call the just, but sinners."
In the traditional symbolization of the evangelists, based on Ezech. 1:5-10 and Rev. 4:6-7, the image of the winged man is accorded to Matthew as his Gospel begins with the human genealogy of Christ.

Friends of the Rosary,
Today, the Twenty-fifth Sunday in Ordinary Time, we reflect on the parable of the landowner (Matthew 20:1-16a). Christ Jesus tells us that the kingdom of heaven is like this landowner. It's the parable of the workers in the vineyard, with those hired late receiving the same full wage. This can feel unfair until we realize the parable is not about human pay scales; it is about divine generosity. The Lord is generous in mercy and does not think as we do. His ways are higher than ours.
Therefore, we are invited not to measure God’s mercy with human jealousy. God is not less good to us because He is generous to someone else.
The invitation is to trust Him, seek Him now, and rejoice when grace reaches others too.
Another important teaching of today's reading is how relentlessly Jesus himself goes out to find laborers. God takes the initiative in seeking us out. God chooses us despite our utter unworthiness. In truth, God is always giving us far more than we deserve, even in calling us to labor in his kingdom.

Friends of the Rosary,
Today, in the Gospel of Luke (8:4-15), Jesus tells the parable of the sower. The seed is the Word of God. But since not every soul receives it the same way, the fruit depends on the soil of the heart.
Some hearts are hard, some are shallow, some are crowded by worries and pleasures, and some are open, patient, and faithful.
God is always sowing His word into our lives, but Faith grows when we listen, remove distractions, and persevere (even when growth feels slow)
In 1 Corinthians 15:35-37, 42-49, Paul explains resurrection using the image of a seed. A seed is placed in the ground, and, in a sense, it “dies”; God can transform what looks small, buried, or broken into new life.
He is saying that our earthly life is fragile, limited, and marked by weakness, but that God can raise it to glory. What feels buried, hidden, or wasted in our life can still become something new in God’s hands.

Friends of the Rosary,
Today in the Gospel (Luke 8:1-3), we see people — the Twelve and several women disciples — following Jesus with practical love, supporting His mission with what they had. These women had been healed, freed, and restored, and now they support Him by accompanying Him. Grace received becomes generosity offered.
“Jesus journeyed from one town and village to another,
preaching and proclaiming the good news of the Kingdom of God.
Accompanying him were the Twelve
and some women who had been cured of evil spirits and infirmities,
Mary, called Magdalene, from whom seven demons had gone out,
Joanna, the wife of Herod’s steward Chuza,
Susanna, and many others
who provided for them out of their resources.”In the first reading (1 Corinthians 15:12-20), we see that Christ’s resurrection is the foundation of our hope and faith, but not a symbol, a nice idea, or a comforting belief. St. Paul is very direct: if Christ has not been raised, Christian faith collapses. Because Jesus rose, sin and death do not get the final word. That means our prayers, sacrifices, repentance, and love are not empty. They are joined to a living Lord.
“If there is no resurrection of the dead,
then neither has Christ been raised.
And if Christ has not been raised, then empty too is our preaching;
empty, too, your faith.”“If for this life only we have hoped in Christ,
we are the most pitiable people of all.”“But now Christ has been raised from the dead,
the first fruits of those who have fallen asleep.”Ave Maria!
Come, Holy Spirit, come!

Friends of the Rosary,
Today in the Gospel (Luke 7:36–50), the Lord Jesus corrects Simon the Pharisee's strict religiosity.
He wrongly believes that divine favor is won through human achievement. The “sinful woman” in the house of Simon the Pharisee is an example that God’s mercy is not abstract.
The forgiven woman loves boldly because she knows what grace has done for her. The Gospel invites us to receive forgiveness honestly, and then let gratitude become love.
As a prayer for today, we ask Lord Jesus to help us come to Him without hiding. And to teach me to trust His mercy, receive His forgiveness, and love Him with a grateful heart.
Ave Maria!

Friends of the Rosary,
Today, September 16, when we honor, as saints of the day, Cornelius, Pope, and Cyprian, Bishop, and both, Martyrs, we read in the Gospel of Luke (7:31–35) how the Lord noted that the people of his generation criticize him as "a friend of tax collectors and sinners."
"For John the Baptist came neither eating food nor drinking wine, and you said, ‘He is possessed by a demon.’ The Son of Man came eating and drinking and you said, ‘Look, he is a glutton and a drunkard, a friend of tax collectors and sinners.’ But wisdom is vindicated by all her children."
But Jesus came as God to bring the light of divine presence and love into our fallen and dysfunctional world full of sin. He went to the poor, the disabled, the marginalized, the forgotten, those crippled by sin.
As Bishop Barron explains, "He came to bring the ordo of God into a disordered world. He came as the keynote to tune up a cacophonous universe. And thus the proponents of disorder and the producers of the cacophony sought to destroy him."
"The Church is the mystical body of Jesus, the living organism that makes present Christ’s mind and will in the world. It is his love made flesh throughout the ages, his hands and feet and eyes and heart. We are all, through baptism, members of that body."
Ave Maria!

Wed, 16 Sep 2026 - 30min - 2271 - September 15, 2026, Memorial of Lady of Sorrows, Holy Rosary (Sorrowful Mysteries)
Friends of the Rosary,
Today, September 15, is the Memorial of Our Lady of Sorrows, with the devotion of the Seven Sorrows of Mary. The two titles focus on Mary's spiritual martyrdom and her sufferings with her Divine Son.
The feast dates back to the 12th century and was especially promoted by the Cistercians and the Servites. The Seven Dolors of Mary refers to the seven swords that pierced her Heart, as Simeon had foretold.
The seven sorrows of Mary:The prophecy of Simeon, (Luke 2:25-35)The flight into Egypt, (Matthew 2:13-15)Loss of the Child Jesus for three days, (Luke 2:41-50)Mary meets Jesus on his way to Calvary, (Luke 23:27-31; John 19:17)Crucifixion and Death of Jesus, (John 19:25-30)The body of Jesus being taken from the Cross (deposition from the Cross), (Psalm 130; Luke 23:50-54; John 19:31-37)The burial of Jesus, (Isaiah 53:8; Luke 23:50-56; John 19:38-42; Mark 15:40-47)Mary stands with Jesus in sorrow, and she teaches us how to remain faithful when love is painful. The Church is one Body, and suffering borne with Christ can become communion rather than isolation.
Our Lady of Sorrows is the patroness of people named Dolores, Dolais, Deloris, Dolorita, Maria Dolorosa, Pia, and Pieta.
In Italy, the title of Our Lady of Sorrows is Maria Santissima Addolorata. She is the patron of many Italian cities. In southern Italy, there is La Festa della Madonna dei Sette Dolori (the festival of the Seven Sorrows of the Madonna), also called the Madonna dell’Addolorata Festival.
Today, Roman Martyrology also commemorates St. Nicomedes, an early Roman martyr of unknown date, and St. Catherine of Genoa (1447-1510), who wrote a treatise on Purgatory and a Dialogue between the soul and body—two outstanding documents of Christian mysticism.

Tue, 15 Sep 2026 - 28min - 2270 - September 14, 2026, Feast of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross, Holy Rosary (Joyful Mysteries)
Friends of the Rosary,
The Catholic Church celebrates today the Feast of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross, also called the Triumph of the Cross, Elevation of the Cross, or Holy Cross Day. Observed in Rome in the seventh century, this feast commemorates the recovery of the Holy Cross, which St. Helena had placed on Mount Calvary.
Our Mother Church sings of the triumph of the Cross, the instrument of our redemption. To follow Christ, we must take up His cross, follow Him, and become obedient until death, even if it means death on the cross.
We identify with Christ on the Cross and become co-redeemers, sharing in His cross.
When Moses lifted up the bronze serpent over the people (as we read today), it foreshadowed salvation through Jesus, who was lifted up on the Cross.
When we make the Sign of the Cross, we give our entire selves to God — mind, soul, heart, body, will, thoughts. We fix our minds and hearts on God.
• After prayer, we make the Sign of the Cross to keep close to God.
• During trials and temptations, our strength and protection are the Sign of the Cross.
• At Baptism, we are sealed with the Sign of the Cross, signifying the fullness of redemption and that we belong to Christ. Also, let's look to the cross frequently!

Mon, 14 Sep 2026 - 29min - 2269 - September 13, 2026, Fifth apparition of Our Lady of Fatima, Holy Rosary (Glorious Mysteries)
Friends of the Rosary,
In today’s Sunday Gospel, from St. Matthew 18:21-35, we hear the story of the merciless servant, whom we all might judge as a mean, heartless man.
But we'd better stop and think for a moment that we ourselves may be that merciless servant described in the parable.
Every time we sin, we incur a debt to God’s loving, infinite mercy. Then can it happen that we can be so heartless and foolish as to refuse to forgive a neighbor for some offense he has committed against us?
Will it be the fate of all unforgiving Christians a deserved punishment of the merciless?
That day has not yet come for us. And we still have time to put our affairs in order.
We can still forgive all our enemies from our hearts. If we do not, we are cutting ourselves off from the possibility of having our own sins and offenses forgiven by God. We might then have the word of our divine Lord, as we read in today's parable: "So will my heavenly Father do to you, unless each of you forgives your brother from your heart.”
Also, September 13 marks the fifth apparition of Our Lady of Fatima, which occurred in 1917 at Cova da Iria in Fatima, Portugal.
An immense crowd of around 30,000 to 40,000 pilgrims accompanied the three shepherd children—Lucia, Francisco, and Jacinta—to the site, hoping for a glimpse of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
Around noon, after a flash of light, the children saw Mary appear above the Holm oak tree. Our Lady told the children to continue praying the Rosary daily to bring an end to World War I.
She stated that God was pleased with their sacrifices but instructed them not to sleep with the penitential ropes on, to wear them only during the daytime.
Mary promised that during her final visit on October 13, Our Lord, Our Lady of Sorrows, Our Lady of Mount Carmel, and Saint Joseph with the Child Jesus would appear, and she would perform a great miracle so that all would believe.

Sun, 13 Sep 2026 - 30min - 2268 - September 12, 2026, Memorial of the Most Holy Name of Mary, Holy Rosary (Joyful Mysteries)
Friends of the Rosary,
Today, we observe the feast of the Most Holy Name of Mary, which celebrates the great privileges given to Mary and all the graces we receive through her intercession. The Hebrew name of Mary, Miryãm (in Latin, Domina), means lady or sovereign.
We call Mary our Lady as we call Jesus our Lord, and when we pronounce her name, we affirm her power, implore her aid, and place ourselves under her protection.
The feast of the Holy Name of Mary therefore follows that of her Birthday, as the Feast of the Holy Name of Jesus follows Christmas.
In accordance with Jewish custom, our Lady's parents named her eight days after her birth and were inspired to call her Mary.
Mary invites us to call upon her name frequently and persistently, for she delights to hear and answer our prayers.
To say her name is to express a word of hope. And this word of hope proclaims our salvation, for Mary was created to be the Mother of our Savior.
Saint Bernard wrote,
"Look to the star of the sea, call upon Mary in danger, in distress, in doubt, think of Mary, call upon Mary. May her name never be far from your lips, or far from your heart … If you follow her, you will not stray; if you pray to her, you will not despair; if you turn your thoughts to her, you will not err. If she holds you, you will not fall; if she protects you, you need not fear; if she is your guide, you will not tire; if she is gracious to you, you will surely reach your destination."

Friends of the Rosary,
Nearly 3,000 souls perished on September 11, 2001, in New York, Pennsylvania, and Washington, DC, including 343 firefighters, 72 law enforcement officers, and 55 military personnel, followed by thousands more responders whose later illnesses stemmed from their selfless recovery efforts at Ground Zero.
Today, 25 years after those horrific terrorist attacks, we honor those we lost and the legendary courage of our first responders — we must never forget.
"Twenty-five years later, its memory lives on; in a new skyline, in simple plaques and great memorials, and in the photographs of first responders who were lost, still displayed outside of firehouses and police stations," Archbishop Ronald Hicks of New York said in a statement. "We also remember those who died and the extraordinary courage, service, sacrifice, and compassion that followed," Hicks said.
This week, bishops across the country issued remarks, reflections, and prayers for the United States and the lives lost on September 11, 2001.
Daily Masses will remember those who died as a result of the tragedy and mourn with their loved ones.
We are all invited to join in prayer for the victims taken from us in acts of violence 25 years ago at the World Trade Center, the Pentagon, and in rural Pennsylvania. And we lovingly embrace in prayer the victims’ families and friends, who still mourn the irretrievable loss of their loved ones in that tragedy.
Amid the sorrow over the attacks, our faith is lifting us up and sustaining us, as many are turning to God in prayer with renewed intensity and a sense of unity.
As conflicts intensify around the world, let us renew our commitment to be Christ’s instruments of peace in an increasingly fractured and divided world.
In the midst of tragedy, God gives us opportunities to become instruments of His love. As St. Paul said, "Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good."

Friends of the Rosary,
In today's Gospel (Luke 6:27-38), Jesus said to his disciples:
"To you who hear I say, love your enemies,
do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you,
pray for those who mistreat you.""Do to others as you would have them do to you.
For if you love those who love you,
what credit is that to you?
Even sinners love those who love them.""Be merciful, just as also your Father is merciful."
"Stop judging and you will not be judged.
Stop condemning and you will not be condemned.
Forgive and you will be forgiven.
Give and gifts will be given to you;
a good measure, packed together, shaken down, and overflowing,
will be poured into your lap.
For the measure with which you measure
will in return be measured out to you."When Jesus calls us to love our enemies, forgive, give generously, and be merciful, He is highlighting that love is greater than being right.
Saint Paul (1 Corinthians 8:1b-7, 11-13) warns that knowledge without charity can wound others.
We are encouraged to choose mercy over pride. Even when we know we are right, ask whether our words and actions are helping another soul come closer to God.

Thu, 10 Sep 2026 - 28min - 2265 - September 9, 2026, Feast of St. Peter Claver, Holy Rosary (Glorious Mysteries)
Friends of the Rosary,
Today, the Church celebrates the Memorial of St. Peter Claver (1581-1654), who dedicated himself to the service of black slaves. For thirty-three years, he ministered to slaves, caring for the sick and dying and instructing them through catechists. Through his efforts, 300,000 souls entered the Church. He is the Patron of the African Missions, proclaimed in 1896 by Pope Leo XIII.
Born of a distinguished family in Catalonia, Spain. He became a Jesuit in 1604 and left for Colombia in 1610. At that time, Cartagena was the principal slave market for the New World. Thousands of blacks were brought there, herded into warehouses, and auctioned to the highest bidder. Captured in Africa, these slaves were chained in groups. Their treatment was so inhumane that 1/3 of the slaves died on the sea journey.
It was to these people that Peter would minister. He would meet each slave ship as it arrived. Peter would go to the warehouses and bring them food, water, medicine, and clothing, for, as he said, "We must speak to them with our hands, before we try to speak to them with our lips." But most of all, he brought them, God. While nursing them back to health, he would teach them of Christ, explain to them that they were loved by God more than they were abused by man, and that evil outraged God. He offered their only consolation: hope in God's promises. Nearly three hundred thousand of them received baptism at his hands.
After twenty-seven years of devotion to the black slaves, St. Peter Claver died in Cartagena on September 8, 1654. Leo XIII canonized him on January 15, 1888, proclaiming him special patron and protector of the negroes. St. Alphonsus Rodriguez, the college's porter, who inspired Peter to become a missionary to the slaves, was canonized at the same time.

Wed, 09 Sep 2026 - 27min - 2264 - September 8, 2026, Feast of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Holy Rosary (Sorrowful Mysteries)
Friends of the Rosary,
Today, we celebrate the Feast of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary. We rejoice in her birthday, as the Church has done from the earliest times. In Mary, all human nature is exalted.
This is one of the three birthdays in the Church Calendar—the Birth of Jesus (December 25), the Birth of John the Baptist (June 24), and the Birthday of Mary. All three were born without original sin, although Mary and Jesus were conceived without sin, and St. John was cleansed of original sin while in the womb at the Visitation.
Mary was "of the lineage of Abraham, born of the tribe of Judah and of the progeny of King David, from whom the Son of God was born, made man by the work of the Holy Spirit, to free humanity from the ancient bondage of sin," the Roman Martyrology states.
Mary, the spiritual mother of all men, was born to be the mother of the Savior of the world and the holiest of God's creatures.
Because of her Son's infinite merits, she was conceived and born immaculate and full of grace.
Through her, Queen of heaven and of earth, all grace is given to men, and by the will of God, we receive the gift of faith to grow in likeness of their Head, Christ the Lord.
Let us often call upon the Blessed Virgin as "Cause of our joy", one of the most beautiful titles in her litany. September 8 is a day of Thanksgiving celebration!

Friends of the Rosary,
Today, on Labor Day in the U.S., we read in the Gospel (Luke 6:6-11) how the Pharisees plot against Jesus because he healed a man on the Sabbath.
Meanwhile, Saint Paul warns against (1 Corinthians 5:1-8) letting the “old yeast” of sin spread in the community.
Christ the Lord encourages us not to hide behind appearances or rules. He chooses what restores life, showing that mercy and healing are always at the heart of God’s law.
Bishop Barron explains,
“This Jesus was the friend of the marginalized, the healer of the disabled and the sick, the advocate of the forgotten, the forgiver of sins. His mission was to carry the fire of divine mercy to all those who were cut off from it.”
“In doing so, he excited the wrath and opposition of the powerful, all those whose status depended upon an ideology of violence, differentiation, and exclusion. When he was born, Herod trembled, and when he came on the public scene, Pharisees schemed and protectors of the establishment plotted to do away with him.”
“In the end, he was put to death by a conspiracy of the secular and religious authorities, and, in his moment of greatest danger, he was betrayed, denied, and abandoned by even his dearest friends. Jesus did not simply die; he was executed, eliminated. And he died precisely because of the way he lived.”

Friends of the Rosary,
In today’s Gospel (Matthew 18:15-20), on the twenty-third Sunday in Ordinary Time, Jesus teaches how to seek reconciliation when someone sins.
"I say to you,
whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven,
and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven."Love is not passive. It corrects gently, forgives sincerely, and works for communion.
"If your brother listens to you, you have won him over."
Saint Paul (Romans 13:8-10) says every commandment is fulfilled in love.
And God calls us to take responsibility for one another with love, not judgment.
"If two of you agree on earth
about anything for which they are to pray,
it shall be granted to them by my heavenly Father.
For where two or three are gathered together in my name,
there am I in the midst of them."There are millions of lukewarm Christians who would have been active members of Christ's mystical body if we had fulfilled this obligation, which Christ has imposed on us all.
The salvation of a soul is the greatest “victory” imaginable.

Friends of the Rosary,
Christ the Lord was challenged by the Pharisees, being asked why he didn't encourage fasting among his followers, as we read today (Luke 5:33-39). His answer, in typical Jewish style, came with another question:
“Can you make the wedding guests fast while the bridegroom is with them?”
This image of the wedding feast appears frequently in the New Testament, most notably in the Cana wedding narrative.Jesus is the wedding of heaven and earth, the marriage of divinity and humanity. Christ is the bridegroom, and the Church is the bride. In him, the most intimate union is achieved between God and the world.
Also, in the same passage, Jesus teaches that His presence brings something new: new wine needs fresh wineskins, inviting us to renew the container of our lives.
In this regard, the Psalm calls us to trust in the Lord, commit our way to Him, and take refuge in Him.
The outcome is not to seek new grace while clinging tightly to old habits and old fears.

Friends of the Rosary,
Today, the Memorial of Saint Gregory the Great, Pope and Doctor of the Church, and Saint Paul (1 Corinthians 3:18-23) remind us not to rely on worldly wisdom or boast in human leaders, because everything belongs to Christ.
Also, the Psalm (Psalm 24:1bc-2, 3-4ab, 5-6) teaches that the whole earth belongs to the Lord, and those who seek Him must come with clean hands and a pure heart.
In the Gospel (Luke 5:1-11), Peter obeys Jesus, and after a fruitless night, receives an overwhelming catch, and he follows Him.
Today’s lesson points to trusting Jesus and lowering the nets again.
Even when your own effort seems empty, obedience to His word can open the way to grace, humility, and mission.

Friends of the Rosary,
In the Gospel (Luke 4:38-44), Jesus heals Simon’s mother-in-law and many others, then continues His mission of preaching the Kingdom of God.
Meanwhile, Saint Paul (1 Corinthians 3:1-9) warns against jealousy, rivalry, and attachment to human leaders rather than to God.
One person plants, another waters, but God gives the growth.
We must let God be the one who gives the growth. We can serve, help, pray, and work, but the fruit belongs to Him.
Jesus heals, restores, and sends us beyond comfort into mission.
As the Psalm reminds (Psalm 33:12-13, 14-15, 20-21), the Lord sees every heart and is the true help of His people.
Prayer for tomorrow: Lord Jesus, heal what is weak in me and free me from jealousy or pride. Help me serve faithfully, trust You with the growth, and follow You wherever Your mission leads.

It's not possible to understand the mind of Christ by human reasoning. Saint Paul says (1 Corinthians 2:10b-16) that the things of the Divinity are understood through the Spirit.
God’s Spirit helps us recognize what is true. Jesus’ word has real power to free, heal, and command the darkness to leave.
Therefore, we ask to be filled with His Spirit. Helping us understand what comes from God, trusting His authority, and letting His word bring freedom and peace into our lives.
As in the Psalm today, we praise the Lord as gracious, merciful, faithful, and just.
Ave Maria!
Come, Holy Spirit, come!

Tue, 01 Sep 2026 - 31min - 2256 - August 31, 2026, Saints Joseph of Arimathea and Nicodemus, Holy Rosary (Joyful Mysteries)
Friends of the Rosary,
In the Gospel today (Luke 4:16-30), Jesus, while facing resistance from his own townspeople, announces His mission: good news to the poor, freedom to captives, sight to the blind, and liberty for the oppressed.
We are invited to receive Jesus as He truly comes, not only as we expect Him to come. God’s word may challenge familiar ideas, but it also brings freedom, healing, and truth.
Meanwhile, Saint Paul, in the first reading (1 Corinthians 2:1-5) reminds us that faith does not rest on clever words or human wisdom, but on the power of God. The Psalm teaches love for God’s commands, not as a burden, but as wisdom and guidance.
As a prayer for today, we ask Lord Jesus to open our hearts to His word. Help us trust not in human wisdom, but in His power. Give us humility to receive Him, courage to follow Him, and love for His commands.
Also today, the Roman Martyrology commemorates Saints Joseph of ArimatheaandNicodemus, who showed courage and devotion to Christ after His death.
Joseph, a "noble counselor" and disciple of the Lord, awaiting the kingdom of God, went to Pilate to ask for Jesus' body. Nicodemus, who once came to Christ secretly, now came openly, bringing myrrh and aloes. He was a Pharisee and a member of the Sanhedrin, which was the ruling body of the Jews. He came to Jesus at night asking questions about his mission. In the presence of the Sanhedrin, who wanted to seize Jesus, Nicodemus defended his cause. They are mentioned in the Gospels.
They received the dead body of Jesus, deposited from the cross, wrapped it in linen, and placed it in a tomb owned by Joseph. Together, they offered Christ a dignified burial, acting out of love when others had withdrawn in fear. Their actions, though simple in appearance, were precious before God and became part of the path to the Resurrection.
Their example teaches that love for Christ must move us to act with courage and faith, even when it is difficult or uncertain. Like them, we are called to bring what we have to Christ and serve Him with humility, trusting that He receives every offering and fills it with His grace.

Friends of the Rosary,
In today's Gospel, from Matthew 16:21-27, we learn that because sin entered into the world before the Incarnation took place, the Son of God in his human nature had to suffer the violent death of the cross at the hands of sinners.
"Jesus began to show his disciples
that he must go to Jerusalem and suffer greatly
from the elders, the chief priests, and the scribes,
and be killed and on the third day be raised."From all eternity, this was God's plan for mankind. Jesus came to die in the Cross. In this very suffering, the Lord became the Lamb of God who took away the sins of the world, as the Second Isaiah had foretold in his "suffering servant" prophecies (Is. 53: 1-7; 42: 1-9, etc).
His death, because he was God as well as man, was a sacrifice, an atonement, to obtain forgiveness from the Father for all the sins of the human race.
In today's reading, we see how Christ intends to prepare his disciples and other followers for what he knew would be a severe crisis of faith for them.
He also told them — and through them, all of us — what their attitude to suffering and death should be.
"Whoever wishes to come after me must deny himself,
take up his cross, and follow me.
For whoever wishes to save his life will lose it,
but whoever loses his life for my sake will find it."Ave Maria!
Come, Holy Spirit, come!

Sun, 30 Aug 2026 - 26min - 2254 - August 29, 2026, Feast of Passion of St. John the Baptist, Holy Rosary (Joyful Mysteries)
Friends of the Rosary,
Today, August 29, 2026, is the Memorial of the Passion of Saint John the Baptist. The precursor of Christ shows us a life completely given to God: humble, brave, and unwilling to compromise with sin.
In the Gospel (Mark 6:17–29), John the Baptist suffers death because he speaks the truth —the truth of marriage in this case —with courage.
Meanwhile, Saint Paul (1 Corinthians 1:26–31) reminds us that God chooses the weak, humble, and lowly so that no one may boast except in the Lord.
In our Saturday prayer, we ask the Lord Jesus to give us the courage of Saint John the Baptist, helping us to speak truth with love, stay humble before Him, and remain faithful even when it is difficult.
The practical lesson is to be faithful to the truth, even when it costs something.

Sat, 29 Aug 2026 - 27min - 2253 - August 28, 2026, Feast of St. Augustine, Holy Rosary (Sorrowful Mysteries)
Friends of the Rosary,
Today, August 28, the Catholic world celebrates the Memorial of St. Augustine (354-430), Bishop and Doctor of the Church, a great luminary in Christianity, the founder of the Augustinians, and the son of St. Monica.
The tears of his mother, the sanctity of Milan's Bishop Ambrose, the book of St. Anthony the hermit, and the sacred Scriptures wrought his conversion — metanoia.
Augustine's mother went to Milan with joy and witnessed her son's baptism on Easter night 387.
Augustine, Bishop of Hippo, at the age of 41, saw how the human heart is created with a great abyss, since the earthly satisfactions are very insufficient. "Restless is the heart until it rests in God," he wrote.
Augustine received the grace of being one of the most penetrating minds of ancient Christendom and the Church's most influential theologian, with an inexhaustible spirituality.
His books, Confessions and The City of God, are a worthy memorial to his genius, a philosophy of history.
Edifying are also his homilies, especially those on the psalms and on the Gospel of St. John.
Augustine's episcopal life was filled with mighty battles against heretics, over all of whom he triumphed. His most illustrious victory was that over Pelagius, who denied the necessity of grace; from this encounter, he earned the surname "Doctor of grace."
An emblem in his life is the burning heart, symbolizing the ardent love of God, which permeates all his writings.

Fri, 28 Aug 2026 - 32min - 2252 - August 27, 2026, Feast of St. Monica, Holy Rosary (Luminous Mysteries)
Friends of the Rosary,
Today, August 27, the Church celebrates the Memorial of St. Monica (333-387), who, through prayer and tears, gave the great Augustine to the Church of God.
We also celebrate today the feast of the Seven Joys of the Blessed Virgin Mary, or the Franciscan, and the feast of Mary, Health of the Sick.
St. Monica prayed, endured, hoped, and trusted God for years, especially for the conversion of her son, Saint Augustine, one of her three children, as well as for Navigius and Perpetua, who later became a nun.
At about the age of sixteen, Augustine fell in with bad companions and took a concubine. Monica greatly desired that her son become a Christian, and for this she labored long—praying, pleading, weeping.
To her joy, Augustine was baptized in Milan by Saint Ambrose at the age of thirty-two. She died in Ostia in 387. Augustine praised God for his mother: “Graciously you heard her, and you did not despise her tears when they flowed down from her eyes and watered the earth beneath, in whatsoever place she prayed.”
St Monica was born in Tagaste, northern Africa, and died in Ostia, near Rome. Monica was a Christian, but her husband Patricius was a pagan and a man of loose morals. Monica's virtues and prayers, however, converted him, and he was baptized a year before his death. When her son, Augustine, joined the Manichean sect and went astray in faith and morals, Monica's tears and prayers for her son were incessant. She followed him to Milan, where Augustine went to teach, and there continued to storm heaven with her prayers for her son.
In today's readings from the Gospel, Saint Paul reminds the Corinthians that God has enriched them with grace and will keep them firm to the end. In parallel, Jesus tells His disciples to stay awake and be ready, like faithful servants waiting for their master. Ultimately, God asks us to stay awake in love, keep doing what is right, and trust His timing.
We ask Lord Jesus to give us the patient faith of Saint Monica, helping us to stay awake in prayer, faithful in our duties, and steady in hope while we wait for His grace to bear fruit.

Friends of the Rosary,
Today, we celebrate Our Lady of Częstochowa, the Black Madonna, the icon of Jasna Góra, enshrined in Częstochowa, Poland.
This icon was traditionally believed to have been painted by St. Luke the Evangelist on a cypress wood panel from a table used by the Holy Family in Nazareth, which Jesus himself built.
It was discovered by St. Helen, mother of Emperor Constantine and collector of Christian relics in the Holy Land. It was brought to Poland in the 14th century, where it is still, and is associated with several miraculous events and spontaneous healings.
After the liberation of Poland from Nazi occupation, 1.5 million people gathered at Jasna Góra in 1945 to rededicate the nation to the Immaculate Heart of Mary. Pope John Paul II visited the image of Our Lady of Częstochowa four times during his pontificate. Our Lady’s intercession is also credited with the liberation of Poland from Communist rule.
The holy painting enshrined at Częstochowa has been a lighthouse of hope and a pilgrimage destination for centuries. Today, the Shrine of Our Lady of Częstochowa attracts millions who love and honor Our Lady’s intercession.

Friends of the Rosary,
Today, the memorial day of Saint Louis of France and Saint Joseph Calasanz, priest, we see in the Gospel (Matthew 23:23–26) how Jesus forcefully calls the Pharisees—and us—to change their hearts and behavior, and not to be trapped by the ego and its narrow concerns.
When the Lord says, “Reform your life,” he means to move from that old mind and make him the center of your life.
Also today, in his letter to the Thessalonians (2:1–3a, 14–17), Saint Paul says not to be shaken by rumors, fear, or confusion, but to “stand firm” in the faith. In the Gospel, Jesus warns against looking religious on the outside while neglecting mercy.
Today’s lesson is that God wants a clean heart, not just clean appearances. Faith is not panic, performance while missing love. It is standing firm in truth and letting mercy shape, avoiding distraction or fear.

Tue, 25 Aug 2026 - 31min - 2249 - August 24, 2026, Feast of St. Bartholomew, Apostle, Holy Rosary (Joyful Mysteries)
Friends of the Rosary,
Today, August 24, is the Feast of St. Bartholomew, Apostle. St. Bartholomew, also known as Nathaniel, was a doctor in Jewish law and a dear friend of St. Philip the Apostle.
He was one of the first disciples called by the Lord. On that initial meeting, Jesus delivered a glorious compliment: "Behold, an Israelite indeed in whom there is no guile!" Because of it, his mind was open to the truth. He went willingly with Philip to see Christ and recognized the Savior immediately as the Son of God.
After having received the gifts of the Holy Spirit on the first Pentecost, Bartholomew evangelized Asia Minor, northwestern India, and Greater Armenia. In the latter country, while preaching to idolaters, he was arrested and condemned to death.
Historically, today is the commemoration of Our Lady of Health of the Sick, celebrated on the Saturday before the last Sunday of August. This is one of the titles in the Litany to Our Lady of Loretto, and there is also a shrine dedicated to Our Lady of Health of the Sick (La Salud) in Patzcuaro, Michoacan, Mexico.
In today’s Gospel (John 1:45–51), Jesus is revealing how he sees us before we fully see Him. Faith often begins with curiosity, honesty, and a willingness to come closer. Bartholomew reminds us that God can turn a skeptical heart into an apostle’s heart.

Mon, 24 Aug 2026 - 28min - 2248 - August 23, 2026, Feast Day of Saint Rose of Lima, Holy Rosary (Glorious Mysteries)
Friends of the Rosary,
Today, the twenty-first Sunday in ordinary time, Jesus asks in Matthew 16:13–20 the question every disciple has to answer: “Who do you say that I am?”
Christ the Lord gives Peter the keys of the Kingdom after Peter confesses: “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.”
"And so I say to you, you are Peter,
and upon this rock I will build my church,
and the gates of the netherworld shall not prevail against it.
I will give you the keys to the kingdom of heaven.
Whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven;
and whatever you lose on earth shall be loosed in heaven."In the second reading (Romans 11:33–36), St. Paul reminds us that all wisdom, authority, and glory come from God:“from him and through him and for him are all things.”
For our prayer, the question is: Who do I say Jesus is, and therefore what are my choices?
If our response is that Christ is the Son of the living God, then we commit —and ask— to strengthen our faith and to build our lives in the Lord.
Today is also the feast day of Saint Rose of Lima, the first canonized saint of the Americas, known for prayer, penance, and a deep love for Christ. Since this date falls on a Sunday in 2026, the Day of the Lord's liturgy takes precedence.

Friends of the Rosary,
Today, August 22, is the Memorial of the Queenship of the Blessed Virgin Mary, a feast that follows the solemnity of the Assumption.
This celebration reminds us that Mary, the humble handmaid exalted by God, shares in the victory of her Son, the King of Kings.
Mary is Queen after she received God’s word with a servant’s heart, and not because she grasped for status.
The main message of the Gospel today (Matthew 23:1–12) is that God’s glory dwells with the humble. Jesus warns against pride, religious show, and the pursuit of titles or honor.
True greatness is service: “The greatest among you must be your servant.”

Friends of the Rosary,
Today, August 21, the Church celebrates the Memorial of St. Pius X, Pope (1835-1914).
It is also the anniversary of the apparition of Our Lady of Knock, Ireland. On August 21, 1879, she appeared with St. Joseph and St. John the Evangelist, and Jesus Christ in the form of a lamb — the Lamb of God — on an altar with a cross in the background at the parish church of the village of Knock in County Mayo. The miracle was witnessed by 15 people.
No words were spoken in the hours-long apparition, but it was received as an inspiring image of instruction and heavenly solidarity.
Pius X was an intrepid defender of the purity of Christian doctrine. He worked to restore the Church's worship, so that people would find beauty in their public prayer. He spared no effort to propagate the practice of frequent and daily communion.

Friends of the Rosary,
We honor today Saint Bernard of Clairvaux, Abbot and Doctor of the Church (1090-1153).
He was a Cistercian abbot known for deep prayer, love for Jesus and Mary, and his teaching on loving God.
The monastic rule, which he perfected at Clairvaux, became the model for 163 monasteries of the Cistercian reform. He was a theologian, poet, orator, and writer. He is one of the last Church Fathers, the apostle of the Crusades, the reconciler of kings, and a counselor of popes. The celebrated Memorare prayer is ascribed to him.
In the Gospel today (Matthew 22:1–14), Jesus compares the Kingdom to a wedding feast, inviting us to accept God’s invitation with a changed heart.
The invitation is wide and generous, but it must be received seriously. We cannot come to God casually, distracted, while refusing to be changed by grace.
We pray to the Lord, with the intercession of St. Bernard, to cleanse our hearts and make them new, removing what is hard and fill us with His Spirit.

Friends of the Rosary,
God’s mercy, grace, and generosity are received as gifts from Heaven. We don't earn them as a salary or even a reward for our behavior.
In the Gospel today (Matthew 20:1–16), Christ the Lord shows a landowner paying even the late workers a full day’s wage.
We shouldn't resent God’s generosity. We must let Him shepherd us, and rejoice when His mercy reaches others too.
Christ is the true Shepherd, and His generosity is greater than our human sense of fairness.
Today in Ezekiel's reading (Ezekiel 34:1–11), the Lord condemns selfish shepherds who exploit the flock rather than care for it, and then promises, “I myself will look after and tend my sheep.”
The psalm of the day (Psalm 23:1–3a, 3b–4, 5, 6) answers with trust: “The Lord is my shepherd; there is nothing I shall want.”The saint of the day is Saint John Eudes, a French priest known for preaching parish missions and promoting devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary.

Friends of the Rosary,
Our Lord says in the Gospel today (Matthew 19:23-30):
"Everyone who has given up houses or brothers or sisters
or father or mother or children or lands
for the sake of my name will receive a hundred times more,
and will inherit eternal life.
But many who are first will be last, and the last will be first."Everything depends on God, including our own salvation. This is a fact of faith. Pride makes us forget that we are creatures of God, but grace reminds us of it.
We are not saved by possessions, status, intelligence, or self-control. In prayer, we have to wonder: am I acting as if I must be my own god, instead of trusting the Lord?
Today, August 18, is the feast of Saint Helena, mother of Constantine, remembered for her faith, care for the poor, and association with the discovery of the True Cross.

Friends of the Rosary,
Christ the Lord wants our whole heart, not just our goodness.
In the Gospel today (Matthew 19:16–22), a rich young man approached the Lord seeking eternal life, but when Jesus invited him to give up what he owned to follow Him, he walked away sadly. He could have been another apostle, like Matthew, but missed the opportunity.
“All of these I have observed. What do I still lack?”
Jesus said to him,“If you wish to be perfect, go,
sell what you have and give to the poor,
and you will have treasure in heaven.
Then come, follow me.”
When the young man heard this statement, he went away sad,
for he had many possessions."Keeping the commandments matters, but discipleship goes deeper. Jesus lovingly exposes the one attachment that keeps a person from freedom. The question for prayer is: what would make me sad if Jesus asked me to surrender it?
This day of August 17 is traditionally associated with Saint Hyacinth of Poland, a Dominican missionary remembered for zeal, courage, and devotion to the Eucharist and Our Lady.

Friends of the Rosary,
Today, Sunday’s message across the Bible's readings points to two intertwined truths: God’s mercy is wider than our boundaries; persistent faith can open the door to grace.
Isaiah says that foreigners who love and serve the Lord will be brought to His holy mountain.
Paul states that even to those who disobey, God’s mercy is shown.
In the main reading (Matthew 15:21–28), the Canaanite woman keeps asking Jesus for help. Her faith is humble, bold, and persistent, and Jesus praises her: "O woman, great is your faith!. Let it be done for you as you wish."
"And the woman's daughter was healed from that hour."Friends, we don’t give up praying when the answer feels delayed. We ask the Lord Jesus to give us the humble courage of the Canaanite woman.
Today, August 16, is also the Optional Memorial of Saint Stephen of Hungary, though Sunday takes liturgical priority. His life reminds us that faith should shape leadership, family, and public life, not just private prayer.

Sun, 16 Aug 2026 - 33min - 2240 - August 15, 2026, Solemnity of the Assumption of Blessed Virgin Mary, Holy Rosary (Joyful Mysteries)
Friends of the Rosary,
Today, August 15, we celebrate the Solemnity of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, which honors the Christian belief that the Virgin Mary was taken body and soul into heavenly glory at the end of her earthly life.
Assumed into heaven, Mary reveals our own destiny.Pope Benedict XVI wrote,“Precisely because Mary is with God and in God, she is very close to each one of us. While she lived on Earth, she could be close to only a few people. Being in God, who is actually within all of us, Mary shares in this closeness of God.”
She “knows our hearts, can hear our prayers, can help us with her motherly kindness. She always listens to us, and, being Mother of the Son, participates in the power of the Son and in his goodness. We can always entrust the whole of our lives to this Mother.”
As Msgr. Ronald Knox said: “That transformation of our material bodies to which we look forward one day has been accomplished—we know it now for certain—in her.”
On November 1, 1950, Pope Pius XII officially defined the dogma of the Assumption in his apostolic constitution, Munificentissimus Deus:
“For which reason, after we have poured forth prayers of supplication again and again to God, and have invoked the light of the Spirit of Truth, for the glory of Almighty God who has lavished his special affection upon the Virgin Mary, for the honor of her Son, the immortal King of the Ages and the Victor over sin and death, for the increase of the glory of that same august Mother, and for the joy and exultation of the entire Church; by the authority of our Lord Jesus Christ, of the Blessed Apostles Peter and Paul, and by our own authority, we pronounce, declare, and define it to be a divinely revealed dogma: that the Immaculate Mother of God, the ever Virgin Mary, having completed the course of her earthly life, was assumed body and soul into heavenly glory.”

Today, we celebrate the memorial of St. Maximilian Kolbe, "a martyr of love," as St. Pope Paul VI described him, who
offered his life in exchange for the life of a husband and father of two sons, on August 14, at the German Nazi concentration and death camp of Auschwitz in Poland. The Polish 47-year-old Franciscan Conventual priest was killed by the Nazis with a lethal injection on August 14, 80 years ago.St. Kolbe, the founder of the worldwide evangelization movement, Militia Immaculatae, and a missionary in Japan in the 1930s, faithfully followed the path of Christ’s sacrifice and His words in John’s Gospel: “No one has a greater love than this: to lay down one's life for one's friends” –that we read today.
The priest was arrested in February 1941 on charges of aiding Jews and the Polish underground and was imprisoned in Warsaw. He was deported to the death camp of Auschwitz, Poland, where he was stripped of his Franciscan habit and assigned prisoner number 16670. He was forced to do the most humiliating jobs, such as carrying dead bodies to the crematorium. Nevertheless, he continued his charity and priestly ministry, for which he was subjected to violent beatings by the guards.
At the end of July 1941, when a prisoner escaped from Auschwitz, in retaliation, the deputy camp commander picked up 10 men to be starved to death in an underground bunker to deter further escape attempts. When one of the selected men, Franciszek Gajowniczek, cried out, "My wife! My children!", Kolbe volunteered to die in his place, arguing he was a Catholic priest and older than Gajowniczek, 41. The deputy commander accepted the offer.
The Polish priest and others were thus locked up in the "starvation bunker" without food and water. There, Kolbe led the prisoners in prayer. Prison guards found him standing or kneeling in the cell and looking calmly at those who entered. After they had been starved and deprived of water for two weeks, only Kolbe remained alive.
The prison authorities administered him a lethal injection of carbolic acid. Kolbe is said to have raised his left arm and calmly waited for the injection. Before dying, he pronounced the two words, “Ave Maria”, the final pledge of a life entrusted to the Immaculate Conception. His remains were cremated on 15 August, the feast of the Assumption of Mary.
During his visit to Poland in 2016, Pope Francis visited the " starvation bunker " on July 29, where Kolbe breathed his last in Auschwitz. After a moment of silence and reflection, he left, signing the visitors' book with a brief prayer: “Lord, have mercy on your people, Lord, forgive us for so much cruelty”.

Friends of the Rosary,
Today in the Gospel of Matthew (18:21–19), Peter asks how often he must forgive:
"Lord, if my brother sins against me,
How often must I forgive him?
As many as seven times?
Jesus answered,“I say to you, not seven times but seventy-seven times."The Lord’s answer: Forgive with overflowing mercy.
Our Heavenly Father forgives us first, but at the same time invites us to forgive our brothers and sisters from the heart.
The same measure that we apply to others will be applied to us!Ave Maria!

Friends of the Rosary,
In the Gospel today (Matthew 18:15–20), Jesus teaches how to correct a brother with patience and charity. Correction is meant to restore communion. It's fraternal correction.
Saint Jane Frances de Chantal, the saint of today, lived this deeply: after suffering widowhood and many family trials, she let grief become holiness. She founded the Visitation Order with Saint Francis de Sales.
The Lord is always calling us to reconciliation, not resentment.
Let's stay faithful and seek peace without pretending sin does not matter, separating the sin from the person. All of it by telling the truth, and always with the hope of winning the person back.

Wed, 12 Aug 2026 - 26min - 2236 - August 11, 2026, Memorial of St. Claire, Holy Rosary (Joyful Mysteries)
Friends of the Rosary,
Today, August 11, we celebrate the Memorial of St. Clare of Assisi (1194-1253), a virgin and a most perfect follower of St. Francis of Assisi, who practiced a life of entire poverty.
At the wish of St Francis, she established a community of nuns in the small convent of San Damiano — the Order of Poor Clares — and acted as their superior for forty-two years — her own life serving as a constant sermon for her sisters to emulate.
Their Rule included austerities, walking barefoot, sleeping on the ground, keeping perpetual abstinence, and making poverty the basis of their lives. St. Clare died on August 11, 1253, and was canonized two years later.
The Breviary says of her:
"When the Saracens were besieging Assisi and were preparing to attack the convent, St. Clare asked to be assisted as far as the entrance, for she was ill. In her hand she carried a vessel containing the blessed Eucharist as she prayed: O Lord, do not deliver over to beasts the souls that praise You! (Ps. 73). Protect Your servants, for You have redeemed them by Your precious Blood. And in the midst of that prayer, a voice was heard, saying: Always will I protect you! The Saracens took to flight."Heroic in suffering (she was sick for twenty-seven years), she was canonized only two years after her death.
In our twentieth century, there still remain large areas with millions suffering under extreme poverty. Poverty in itself is no virtue, but it should be made into a virtue. Christ was poor. His entrance into the world and His departure from it took place in circumstances of greatest need. He had no house wherein to be born, no crib; no house wherein to die, no deathbed. Poverty stood watch at birth and remained to see His death. "The foxes have dens, and the birds of the air have nests; but the Son of Man has nowhere to lay His head" (Matt. 3:20).
At least, we can be moderate and frugal, and thereby find the way to the spirit of Christian poverty. St. Clare, help us, pray for us!

Tue, 11 Aug 2026 - 31min - 2235 - August 10, 2026, Feast of St. Lawrence, Deacon and Martyr, Holy Rosary (Joyful Mysteries)
Friends of the Rosary,
The Catholic Church celebrates today, August 10, the feast of Saint Lawrence (d. 258), a deacon of the Church in Rome, known for serving the poor and for giving his life as a heroic martyr.
He was arrested under Emperor Valerian in 258, laid upon a gridiron, and slowly roasted to death. In the midst of excruciating pain, he prayed:"Lord Jesus Christ, God from God, have mercy on Your servant!"
At a certain point, the soldier Romanus exclaimed: "I see before you an incomparably beautiful youth. Hasten and baptize me." He had observed how an angel dried the wounds of Lawrence with a linen cloth during his passion.
Lawrence died praying for the conversion of the city of Rome, in the hope that from it the faith of Christ might spread throughout the world. From that time, idolatry began to decline in Rome.
This young deacon and heroic martyr is counted among the saints most highly venerated by the ancient Roman Church. Next to the feast of Sts. Peter and Paul, that of St. Lawrence ranked highest in the Roman sanctoral cycle.
During the persecution of Emperor Valerian (253-260), Sixtus II and his four deacons were martyred.

Friends of the Rosary,
In the Gospel today (Matthew 14:22-33), Peter walks on the water toward Jesus, doing what seems impossible, as he keeps his eyes on the Lord.
“Lord, if it is you, command me to come to you on the water.”
He said, “Come.”
Peter got out of the boat and began to walk on the water toward Jesus.
But when he saw how strong the wind was, he became frightened;
and, beginning to sink, he cried out, “Lord, save me!”
Immediately Jesus stretched out his hand and caught Peter,
and said to him,“O you of little faith, why did you doubt?”
We see in this passage how, when Peter noticed the wind, fear trapped him, and he began to sink. That is very human. We begin with faith, but then fear gets loud: problems, weakness, uncertainty, family worries, money, health, temptation, the future. Peter’s prayer is simple: “Lord, save me.” And Jesus reaches out immediately.
When fear starts to pull us under, let's call on Jesus. Faith is not pretending the storm is not real.
God often comes quietly, and faith means keeping our eyes on Jesus when fear rises.

Sun, 09 Aug 2026 - 28min - 2233 - August 8, 2026, Feast of St. Dominic, Holy Rosary (Joyful Mysteries)
Friends of the Rosary,
Today, August 8, is the feast of St. Dominic of Guzman, founder of the Order of Preachers, known as the Dominicans, in 1215. He received the Rosary from the Blessed Mother in the woods of Toulouse, in France.
This 13th-century Spanish priest, born in Caleruega, Burgos, in 1170, emphasized scholarship and poverty. His mission was simple but demanding: preach the truth of the Catholic faith with clarity, holiness, poverty, and love for souls.
He lived during a time when many people were confused by false teachings, especially in southern France. Dominic did not want preachers who loved winning debates more than saving souls. He wanted men formed by prayer, study, humility, and sacrifice.
Dominic's instrument for saving souls and bringing people back to Christ through Mary was the Rosary—through meditation on the mysteries of salvation and preaching rooted in prayer.
St. Dominic is a saint for times of confusion. He reminds us that when the world is noisy, the Church needs clear minds, clean hearts, disciplined prayer, and courageous love.
He died on August 6, 1221, in Bologna, Italy.
St. Dominic, preacher of truth, pray for us!

Friends of the Rosary,
Today, memorials of Saint Cajetan, Priest, and Saint Sixtus II, Pope and Martyr, and his Companion Martyrs, the Lord reveals to us powerful truths (Matthew 16:24-28):
“Whoever wishes to come after me must deny himself,
take up his cross, and follow me.
For whoever wishes to save his life will lose it,
but whoever loses his life for my sake will find it.
What profit would there be for one to gain the whole world
and forfeit his life?
Or what can one give in exchange for his life?
For the Son of Man will come with his angels in his Father’s glory,
and then he will repay each according to his conduct.”In this passage, Jesus makes the lesson plain: following Him is not just admiring Him, believing correct things about Him, or enjoying moments of spiritual light. It means taking up the cross with Him.
“Deny yourself” means dethroning the false self: pride, comfort, control, resentment, vanity, the need to win, the need to be seen.
That line, “Whoever wishes to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake will find it,” contradicts the extended idea, even in Christianity, that life is not about preserving comfort at all costs. It is about giving yourself away in love, obedience, humility, and fidelity. The paradox is that this surrender does not destroy us. It restores us.
Today, once again, we pray this Holy Rosary from Las Vegas, Nevada.

Fri, 07 Aug 2026 - 28min - 2231 - August 6, 2026, Solemnity of the Transfiguration of the Lord, Holy Rosary (Luminous Mysteries) | From Las Vegas
Friends of the Rosary,
We celebrate today, August 6, the Feast of the Transfiguration, an event described in the three Synoptic Gospels (Matthew 17:1–8, Mark 9:2–13, Luke 9:28–36) which foretells the glory of the Lord as God and His Ascension into heaven.
In the gospel accounts, Jesus and three of his apostles, Peter, James, and John, went to a mountain (the Mount of Transfiguration) to pray. On the mountaintop, Jesus began to shine with bright rays of light. Then the Old Testament figures Moses and Elijah appeared, and he spoke with them. Both figures had eschatological roles: they symbolize the Law and the prophets, respectively. Jesus is then called "Son" by the voice of God the Father, as in the Baptism of Jesus.
The Transfiguration anticipates the presence of heaven, where we shall see God face to face.
From the Catechism of the Catholic Church, #554, we learn:
"From the day Peter confessed that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of the living God, the Master began to show his disciples that he must go to Jerusalem and suffer many things... and be killed, and on the third day be raised.
Peter scorns this prediction, nor do the others understand it any better than he does. In this context, the mysterious episode of Jesus' Transfiguration takes place on a high mountain, before three witnesses chosen by himself: Peter, James, and John. Jesus' face and clothes become dazzling with light, and Moses and Elijah appear, speaking "of his departure, which he was to accomplish at Jerusalem".
A cloud covers him, and a voice from heaven says: "This is my Son, my Chosen; listen to him!"
Thomas Aquinas considered the transfiguration "the greatest miracle" because it complemented baptism and revealed the perfection of life in Heaven. In 2002, Pope John Paul II introduced the Luminous Mysteries in the rosary, which include the transfiguration.Ave Maria!

Friends of the Rosary,
We celebrate today, August 5, the Memorial of the Dedication of the Basilica of St. Mary Major, one of the four most illustrious churches of Rome, along with St. John Lateran, St. Peter, St. Paul Outside the Walls, and St. Mary Major.
The Basilica of St. Mary Major was built at the indication of the Blessed Mother after the miracle of the snowfall that took place on the night of August 4 - 5 in the year 358.The Virgin Mary had announced it in a dream to two faithful Roman Christians, the patrician John and his wife, as well as to Pope Liberius.
The basilica was completed a century later, after the Council of Ephesus in 431 declared Mary the Mother of God as dogma.
Yesterday, during the pontifical Mass in Rome, a traditional shower of flower petals descended from the basilica's ceiling to commemorate the August snowfall of 358.
The memorial of the Dedication of the Basilica of Saint Mary Major is also known as Our Lady of the Snows.
Our Lady of the Snows teaches that grace can appear where it seems impossible, even “snow” in the heat of summer. God can mark out a place of mercy where human expectation says nothing should happen.

Friends of the Rosary,
In today’s Gospel (Matthew 15:1-2, 10-14), Jesus warns that religious habits are not enough if the heart is far from God. The Pharisees focus on external tradition, but Jesus points deeper: what comes out of a person reveals what is inside.
Also, today, August 4, we honor Saint John Vianney (1786-1859), also known as the Curé of Ars. Born in France in 1786, during the French Revolution, he was sent as a parish priest to Ars, a small village that was spiritually lukewarm. Here he spent forty-two years of his life, devoting himself to prayer, mortification, and pastoral works.
His success in directing souls made him known throughout the Christian world. Men of all ranks and conditions of life sought his guidance and advice.
He would spend many hours each day in the confessional, sometimes 12 to 16 hours, helping people return to God.
His holiness was pastoral and merciful. His message was simple: go to confession, pray seriously, love the Eucharist, and do not be afraid to let God heal what is broken.
St. John Baptist Mary Vianney was beatified by Pope St. Pius X, himself once a parish priest, and canonized by Pope Pius XI.

Friends of the Rosary,
The main reading of the Gospel today (Matthew 14:22-36) shows the disciples in a storm — a metaphor for the storm of life. Jesus comes to them walking on the sea, but they were terrified.
“It is a ghost,” they said, and they cried out in fear.
At once Jesus spoke to them,“Take courage, it is I; do not be afraid.”
Peter said to him in reply,
“Lord, if it is you, command me to come to you on the water.”
He said,“Come.”
Peter got out of the boat and began to walk on the water toward Jesus.
But when he saw how strong the wind was, he became frightened;
and, beginning to sink, he cried out, “Lord, save me!”
Immediately Jesus stretched out his hand and caught him,
and said to him,“O you of little faith, why did you doubt?”In this passage, we see that Peter begins well because his eyes are on Jesus, but when he focuses on the wind, he starts to sink. His prayer is short and perfect: “Lord, save me.” Jesus immediately reaches out to him.
Let's all keep our eyes on Jesus. When we feel ourselves sinking, pray simply and honestly: “Lord, save me.”

Friends of the Rosary,
Today's Sunday readings speak about God feeding His people. In the first reading (Isaiah 55:1-3), God invites everyone who is thirsty and hungry to come to Him. He offers what truly satisfies, not just food for the body, but for the soul. Many things promise to fill us, but only God can give peace that lasts.
Saint Paul also gives a beautiful reminder (Romans 8:35, 37-39): nothing can separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus. Not suffering, weakness, fear, or hardship. God’s love is stronger than all of it.
The Gospel (Matthew 14:13-21) shows Jesus feeding the five thousand. The disciples see the crowd and think only of the problem: too many people, too little food. Five loaves and two fish look small, but in the hands of the Lord they become enough.
Our faith may feel small. Our patience may feel small. Our strength may feel small. But when we place it in Jesus’ hands, He can multiply it.
We bring Jesus what we have, even if it is small. He asks us to offer what we can, and let Him provide what is missing.

Friends of the Rosary,
Today, August 1st, is the Memorial of Saint Alphonsus Liguori, Bishop and Doctor of the Church, founder of the Redemptorists, and a great teacher of moral theology.
He is especially known for preaching God’s mercy. He dedicated his life calling people back to God’s mercy.
Born near Naples, Italy, in 1696, he became a lawyer while still young, but later he gave his life to God as a priest.
He preached in a way ordinary people could understand. He cared especially for the poor, the abandoned, and people who felt far from God. In 1732, he founded the Redemptorists, a religious congregation dedicated to preaching the Gospel, especially to the poor and neglected.
Saint Alphonsus Liguori had a deep love for Mary and wrote The Glories of Mary. He promoted prayer, confession, devotion to the Eucharist, and trust in Jesus. He suffered many illnesses and difficulties later in life, but stayed faithful.
He died on August 1, 1787. He was canonized in 1839 and declared a Doctor of the Church in 1871.
Saint Alphonsus Liguori, pray for us. Help us trust God’s mercy, avoid sin, love Mary, and follow Jesus with a sincere heart!

Sat, 01 Aug 2026 - 31min - 2225 - July 31, 2026, Memorial of St. Ignatius of Loyola, Holy Rosary (Sorrowful Mysteries)
Friends of the Rosary,
Today, July 31st, we honor Ignatius of Loyola (1491–1556) as the saint of the day, a Spanish Basque soldier, mystic, and priest who founded the Society of Jesus (the Jesuits) and wrote The Spiritual Exercises.
In the year 1521, at the siege of Pampeluna, a cannonball fractured the left leg of Captain Ignatius Loyola, the future founder of the Jesuits. While he was convalescing, Ignatius read about Christ and His saints and thus turned wholly to God. He went to Montserrat, and hung up his arms before the altar of the Blessed Virgin, entering upon his knighthood in the army of Christ. He then equipped himself for Christ's service by acquiring a good classical and theological education.
God favored and refreshed him with such wonderful spiritual lights. He patiently endured sufferings and insults in every place, undergoing the hardest trials, even imprisonment and beatings almost to death. But he ever desired to suffer far more for the glory of his Lord.
At Paris he was joined by nine companions from that University, men of different nations, who had taken their degrees in Arts and Theology; and there at Montmartre he laid the first foundations of the order. Among them, St. Francis Xavier was sent to preach the Gospel in the Indies. He dispersed others of his children to spread the Christian faith in other parts of the world, thus declaring war against paganism, superstition, and heresy.
God raised up Ignatius and the Society of Jesus to oppose Luther and the heretics of his time, as formerly he had raised up other holy men to oppose other heretics.
The members of the Society of Jesus became the shock troops of the Church in the battle against the spread of Protestantism in Europe, as well as one of the greatest foreign mission organizations that the world has known.
Ignatius everywhere opened schools for the education of youth in piety and letters. St. Philip Neri and others saw his countenance shining with heavenly light. And his power over the demons was wonderful.
Ignatius died on July 31, 1556, at the age of sixty-five.
Since then, St. Ignatius is celebrated for miracles and for his great services to the Church.
In today's Gospel (Matthew 13:54-58), Jesus returns to His native place, and the people are astonished by His wisdom. But instead of receiving Him, they reduce Him to what they already know: “Is he not the carpenter’s son?” Familiarity closes their hearts. They cannot accept that God is working through someone so close, so ordinary, so known to them.
That is a warning for us. God may speak through ordinary people, ordinary duties, ordinary prayers, and ordinary moments. If we only expect God in dramatic signs, we may miss Him when He comes quietly.
Saint Ignatius of Loyola fits beautifully with today’s message. His life was reshaped by God after injury, ambition, and conversion. He learned to discern God’s voice, to seek God’s will, and to find God in all things.
Let's listen when God corrects us. Do not reject truth because it is uncomfortable or because it comes through someone familiar. Ask for a humble heart that can recognize God’s voice and follow His will.
Like Saint Ignatius, help us seek Divine Will in all things and follow the Lord with courage.

Friends of the Rosary,
In today’s Gospel (Matthew 13:47-53), Jesus speaks of the Kingdom like a net gathering all kinds of fish. At the end, there is a separation between what is good and what is bad.
Jesus said to the disciples:
“The Kingdom of heaven is like a net thrown into the sea,
which collects fish of every kind.
When it is full they haul it ashore
and sit down to put what is good into buckets.
What is bad they throw away.
Thus it will be at the end of the age.
The angels will go out and separate the wicked from the righteous
and throw them into the fiery furnace,
where there will be wailing and grinding of teeth.”This parable is not meant only to frighten us, but to wake us up. Our choices matter, as the way we live today is preparing us for eternity.

Thu, 30 Jul 2026 - 32min - 2223 - July 29, 2026, Memorial of Martha, Mary, and Lazarus, Holy Rosary (Glorious Mysteries)
Friends of the Rosary,
Today, in the Memorial of Saints Martha, Mary, and Lazarus, the Church remembers three siblings who were close friends of Jesus. Their home in Bethany was a place where Jesus was welcomed, listened to, questioned, and loved.
That is a beautiful image of Christian life: not only praying in church, but letting Jesus enter the real home — with its work, worries, grief, conversations, and meals.
Martha shows faith in action. She serves, she speaks honestly, and in John’s Gospel she makes one of the strongest confessions of faith: “Yes, Lord. I have come to believe that you are the Christ, the Son of God.” She is not only the busy sister; she is a woman of courage and belief. Even while grieving Lazarus, she still comes to Jesus.
Jesus told her,
“I am the resurrection and the life;
whoever believes in me, even if he dies, will live,
and anyone who lives and believes in me will never die."Mary shows love that listens. She sits at the Lord’s feet in Luke’s Gospel, receiving His word. In John’s Gospel, she brings her sorrow directly to Jesus.
Lazarus shows the power of Christ over death. He does not speak much in the Gospel, but his life becomes a sign.
We want to welcome Jesus into the whole house of your life. Serve like Martha, listen like Mary, and trust like Lazarus!

Friends of the Rosary,
Today, Christ the Lord (Matthew 13:36-43) explains the parable of the weeds in the field.
"He who sows good seed is the Son of Man,
the field is the world, the good seed the children of the Kingdom.
The weeds are the children of the Evil One,
and the enemy who sows them is the Devil.
The harvest is the end of the age, and the harvesters are angels.
Just as weeds are collected and burned up with fire,
so will it be at the end of the age.
The Son of Man will send his angels,
and they will collect out of his Kingdom
all who cause others to sin and all evildoers.
They will throw them into the fiery furnace,
where there will be wailing and grinding of teeth.
Then the righteous will shine like the sun
in the Kingdom of their Father.
Whoever has ears ought to hear."As we learn from the Lord, good and evil grow together for a time, but not forever.
The Lord is patient. He will separate what is true from what is false, what belongs to the Kingdom from what destroys it.
Let’s not be discouraged by the weeds — in the world, in the Church, or in your own heart!

Jesus describes today to the crowds, with two parables, the transforming power of the Kingdom of God by comparing it to a mustard seed and yeast. (Matthew 13:31–35).
“The Kingdom of heaven is like a mustard seed that a person took and sowed in a field. It is the smallest of all the seeds, yet when full-grown it is the largest of plants. It becomes a large bush,
and the ‘birds of the sky come and dwell in its branches.’”He spoke to them another parable.
“The Kingdom of heaven is like yeast
that a woman took and mixed with three measures of wheat flour
until the whole batch was leavened.”The Church, the body of Jesus, the living organism that makes present Christ’s mind and will in the world, is here to transform the world — rather than to make itself accessible to the world, as Bishop Barron explains.
“It is the mustard seed, the leaven. In Augustine’s terms, it is the city of God making its way within the city of man.”
“It is his love made flesh throughout the ages, his hands and feet and eyes and heart.”
—
Yesterday, in Matthew 13:44-52, Jesus said to his disciples: “The kingdom of heaven is like a treasure buried in a field, which a person finds and hides again, and out of joy goes and sells all that he has and buys that field. Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant searching for fine pearls. When he finds a pearl of great price, he goes and sells all that he has and buys it.”

Friends of the Rosary,
The Lord, appearing in a dream to Solomon (as we learn today in the first reading), said to him:
"Because you have asked not for a long life for yourself, nor for riches, nor for the life of your enemies, but for understanding so that you may know what is right—I do as you requested. I give you a heart so wise and understanding that there has never been anyone like you up to now."
Health and wealth can easily be lost, but the union with God is everlasting.
The human heart is wired to seek God — or to respond to His call. And faith is the “pearl of great price.”
We are created to be conformed to the image of His Son—in all his glory.
Without Him nothing has a firm foundation, nothing is wise or joyful.
Saint Paul said in his letter to the Romans 8:28-30, "We know that all things work for good for those who love God, who are called according to his purpose."
In Matthew 13:44-52, Jesus said to his disciples: “The kingdom of heaven is like a treasure buried in a field, which a person finds and hides again, and out of joy goes and sells all that he has and buys that field. Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant searching for fine pearls. When he finds a pearl of great price, he goes and sells all that he has and buys it.”
Like the merchant, we get rid of everything that distracts us and acquire the field with the treasure of the faith.

Sun, 26 Jul 2026 - 32min - 2219 - July 25, 2026, Feast of St. James the Greater, Apostle, Holy Rosary (Joyful Mysteries)
Friends of the Rosary,
Today, July 25, is traditionally the Feast of St. James, the Apostle, known as the Greater, in order to distinguish him from the other Apostle St. James. Jesus called him Boanerges, "son of thunder."
James the Greater was our Lord's cousin (an old legend states that Salome, his mother, was a sister of Mary), and John the Evangelist's brother and the son of Zebedee, the fisherman from Galilee. With Peter and John, he was one of the witnesses of the Transfiguration, and later of the agony in the garden. He was beheaded in Jerusalem in the year 42 or 43 A.D. by King Herod Agrippa, becoming the first apostle to give his life for proclaiming Christ.
In Spain, his magnificent shrine at Santiago de Compostela has been a place of pilgrimage since the ninth century, through el Camino, "the Way of St. James". After the pilgrimage to Rome or the Holy Land, it is the most famous and the most frequented pilgrimage in Christendom. The paths to Compostella form a network over Europe; they are dotted with hospices and chapels.
Saint James is a powerful saint for today because he shows both human ambition and holy transformation.
In today's Gospel (Matthew 20:20-28), Jesus tells James and John that greatness in His Kingdom is not about status, but service: “Whoever wishes to be great among you shall be your servant.” The glory comes through the chalice — suffering, sacrifice, and service. Saint James followed that path all the way to martyrdom.
Staying close to Jesus, we will see how He will turn our ambition into mission.
Saint James, pray for us!

Friends of the Rosary,
Christ the Lord explains the parable of the sower today in the Gospel (Matthew 13:18-23): the seed is the Word of God, and the soil is the human heart.
Some hearts are hard, some shallow, some crowded with anxiety and worldly distractions. Only the good soil hears, understands, and bears fruit.
That is the invitation: don’t just “hear” God’s Word. Make room for it. Pull out the thorns that are choking our peace: worry, distraction, resentment, hurry. Consciously hand them to God. Let it go deeper than emotion. Let's become patient, merciful, and bear real fruit.
Saint Sharbel’s life points in the same direction. The Saint we honor today lived hidden, prayerful, and poor, but his quiet holiness bore fruit far beyond what anyone could see at the time. God does some of His deepest work in silence.
Saint Sharbel, pray for us!

Friends of the Rosary,
Today, July 23, we honor—and ask for her prayer and intercession—St. Bridget (1302-1373) of Sweden, the Scandinavian mystic famous for her Revelations concerning the sufferings of our Redeemer.
St. Bridget received visions of Christ’s suffering many times throughout her life and, after her husband died and she bore eight children, Bridget founded the Order of the Most Holy Savior, also known as Bridgettines, erecting a double monastery for monks and nuns,
Following the guidance of the Holy Spirit, she later went to Rome, where she worked for the return of the Popes from Avignon.
Shortly before she died, the saint went on a pilgrimage to the Holy Land. At the shrines there, she had visions of what Jesus had said and done in each place.
When she was only ten, it is recorded that she had a vision of Jesus on the cross and heard him say, “Look at me, my daughter."
"Who has treated you like this?" cried little Bridget.
Jesus answered, "Those who despise me and refuse my love for them.”From that moment on, Bridget tried to stop people from offending Jesus.
All St. Bridget's revelations on the sufferings of Jesus were published after her death.

Thu, 23 Jul 2026 - 29min - 2216 - July 22, 2026, Feast of St. Mary Magdalene, Holy Rosary (Glorious Mysteries)
Friends of the Rosary,
Today, July 22, we celebrate the Feast of Saint Mary Magdalene, the Apostle of the Apostles, the first recorded witness to the Resurrection, and announcer of the message of the Resurrection of the Lord, like the other apostles.
Mary Magdalene had indeed the honor of being the "prima testis" to the resurrection of the Lord, the first to see the empty tomb and the first to hear the truth of His resurrection. She fulfilled the mandate the Risen Christ gave her: "Go to my brothers and say to them." Mary Magdalene went and announced to the disciples, “I have seen the Lord” — and that he had said these things to her.
In this way she became an evangelist, or, as Rabano Mauro and St. Thomas Aquinas said, "apostolorum apostola", as she announces to the apostles what they in turn will announce to all the world.
She was from Magdala, a small fishing town on the Sea of Galilee, between Capernaum and Tiberias. She was known to be a "great sinner," a woman of the streets who heard Jesus speak of the mercy and forgiveness of God and changed her life completely.
Christ had a special consideration and mercy for this woman, who showed her love for Him with "lacrimas humilitatis", as St. Anselm said.
She stood with the Virgin Mary at the foot of the Cross on that brutal Good Friday afternoon and had been by the side of Mary during these difficult hours.

Friends of the Rosary,
In today’s Gospel (Matthew 12:46-50), Jesus is told that His mother and relatives are outside asking for Him. His answer might sound sharp at first:“Who is my mother? Who are my brothers?”
But Jesus is just revealing something deeper: Belonging to Him is not only about blood, name, culture, or religious identity. True closeness to Jesus comes from doing the will of the Father.
Every person who listens to God, trusts Him, and obeys Him can become part of His own family.
Mary is the perfect example of this Gospel because she belongs to Jesus not only as His mother, but as the one who says yes to God completely: “Let it be done to me according to your word.” So Jesus is opening the door wider.
In the first reading, we learn that doing God’s will means forgiving, trusting, returning to Him, and letting His compassion shape how we treat others.
Let’s not measure our closeness to God only by a religious prayer routine. Let’s ask: Am I actually doing the Father’s will today? Am I a forgiving and merciful person?
Ave Maria!

Friends of the Rosary,
Today’s in first reading (Matthew 12:38-42), in the feast of St. Apollinaris, Bishop and Martyr, we see the opponents of the Lord asking for a sign of Heaven. Jesus tells them that no sign will be given except the sign of Jonah, that is, the resurrection.
Christ the Lord points that repentance is the sign they are missing. The people of Nineveh heard a warning and changed.
The Queen of the South traveled far to seek wisdom. But standing before the scribes and Pharisees is Someone greater than Jonah and greater than Solomon, and still they resist.
God wants a heart that becomes repentant, merciful, and humble. He is not asking for religious performance without conversion.
The sign is already here: Christ died and rose. Now the question is whether we will repent, listen, and walk humbly.

Friends of the Rosary,
In the parable of the weeds in the field, the Lord Jesus explained — as we read today (St. Matthew 13:24-43):
"He who sows good seed is the Son of Man, the field is the world, the good seed the children of the kingdom.
The weeds are the children of the evil one,
and the enemy who sows them is the devil.
The harvest is the end of the age, and the harvesters are angels.
Just as weeds are collected and burned up with fire, so will it be at the end of the age.
The Son of Man will send his angels,
and they will collect out of his kingdom
all who cause others to sin and all evildoers.
They will throw them into the fiery furnace,
where there will be wailing and grinding of teeth.
Then the righteous will shine like the sun
in the kingdom of their Father.
Whoever has ears ought to hear."In another parable, Jesus answers the question of why God permits the evil and wicked to prosper.
“If you pull up the weeds,
you might uproot the wheat along with them.
Let them grow together until harvest;
then at harvest time I will say to the harvesters,
"First collect the weeds and tie them in bundles for burning;
but gather the wheat into my barn."In other words, the triumph of the wicked is short-lived, while the reward of the Christian who suffers from their wickedness is everlasting.
The very wickedness and injustices of evil-doers are one of the ways that God uses to perfect his elect. Only on a battlefield can a true soldier be proven.
In the parable, the weed does not destroy the wheat. It only makes it more difficult for wheat to reach maturity. So it is with the Christian.
If we succumb to this evil influence and give up the practice of our faith, the fault is ours. God can force no man to serve him.

Friends of the Rosary,
In today's main passage of the Gospel (Matthew 12:14-21), we read:
"The Pharisees went out and took counsel against Jesus to put him to death.
When Jesus realized this, he withdrew from that place. Many people followed him, and he cured them all, but he warned them not to make him known. This was to fulfill what had been spoken through Isaiah the prophet"
Jesus knows the Pharisees' behavior, and instead of fighting for His reputation or forcing a public confrontation, He withdraws. That withdrawal is not weakness, but the strength of someone completely rooted in the Father’s will.
Matthew connects this moment to Isaiah’s prophecy about the Servant of the Lord: Jesus will not quarrel, shout, or crush what is already wounded.
He sees fragile people with tenderness. He does not exploit vulnerability. He heals, restores, and moves gently with souls that are already bent under pressure.
The contrast is sharp. While sinful power grabs, makes noise, and demands control, Christlike power heals.
It's not just about being nice. It is choosing the way of Jesus when you are misunderstood, opposed, or tempted to prove yourself. We treat someone fragile, tired, anxious, sick, guilty, or difficult the way Christ treats people, by bringing justice through humility, mercy, and faithfulness.

Friends of the Rosary,
Our Lord desires mercy, not sacrifice, as He reveals in the Gospel today (Matthew 12:1–8). The Pharisees criticized His hungry disciples for picking grain on the Sabbath. He didn’t dismiss the Law; He revealed its heart, full of mercy.
The divine mercy is poured out without reservation upon us. It can’t be earned, and we don’t deserve his mercy. But God simply loves us, regardless of whether we are worthy or not, and pours His mercy unconditionally.
True holiness does not become harsh toward human weakness.
That was shown in the first reading, too, when Hezekiah turned to the Lord in tears when death was near, and God heard him. First and second readings point to the same truth: God is not distant from our hunger, fear, sickness, or weakness. He wants prayer that is honest and worship that becomes mercy.
Challenge for today: choose mercy in one concrete moment, especially where you are tempted to judge.
Prayer for today: Lord Jesus, make my heart merciful. Teach me to honor You not only with rules and words, but with compassion, prayer, and trust. St. Marcellina, on your saint’s day, pray for us!

Fri, 17 Jul 2026 - 32min - 2210 - July 16, 2026, Feast of Our Lady of Mount Carmel, Holy Rosary (Luminous Mysteries)
Friends of the Rosary,
Today, July 16th, is the Memorial of Our Lady of Mount Carmel, a feast instituted for the Carmelites in 1332 and extended to the whole Church by Benedict XIII in 1726. It’s the feast of the worldwide devotion to the Scapular of Our Lady of Mount Carmel, also known as the Brown Scapular.
In Mount Carmel, the prophet Elijah defended the beauty and purity of Israel’s faith in the living God.
In the twelfth century, hermits withdrew to that mountain and later founded the Carmelite order, devoted to the contemplative life under the patronage of Mary, the holy Mother of God.
Today is the principal feast day of the Carmelite Order.
Since the Carmelites were still under constant harassment by the Saracens, the sixth General of the Order, St. Simon Stock, pleaded with the Blessed Virgin for some special sign of her protection. On July 16, 1251, she designated the scapular as the special mark of her maternal love.
The scapular is common to many religious Orders, but it is a special feature of the Carmelites. A smaller form of the scapular is given to lay persons in order that they may share in the great graces associated with it.
This sacramental is a sign of one's decision to follow Jesus, as Mary did, the perfect model for all the disciples of Christ. It’s also an expression of our belief that we will meet God in eternal life, aided by Mary's intercession and prayer.
While sacramentals prepare us to receive grace if we are in the right disposition, the Church emphasizes that only sacraments can confer sanctifying grace.
The Scapular is an external sign of the filial relationship established between the Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother and Queen of Mount Carmel, and the faithful who entrust themselves totally to her protection, who have recourse to her maternal intercession.
In New York City, there is Our Lady of Mount Carmel Shrine in East Harlem, established in 1881 and home to one of the oldest festivals in America. Also, Williamsburg in Brooklyn, NY, annually holds the Festival of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel and St. Paulinus of Nola (Festa Del Giglio).

Friends of the Rosary,
Today, July 15, is the Memorial Day of Saint and mystic Bonaventure, Bishop and Doctor of the Church (1221-1274), a thirteenth-century Italian saint, known as the Seraphic Doctor.
As the General of the Franciscan Order, he consolidated the institution and was even considered a second founder.
Teacher and preacher, he was a unique personality, beloved by God and men alike, who attracted everyone who saw him.
Unsurpassed in sanctity, wisdom, and eloquence, he was gifted, as with a skill of accomplishing things. St. Bonaventure had not only a winning disposition, but a heart full of love, pious, charitable, and rich in virtue and wisdom.
His contemporaries are said to have believed that no one was "more handsome, more holy, or more learned" than he.
In philosophy, he was the principal leader of the Platonic-Augustinian school of Franciscan thought; as such, he stood opposed to the Aristotelianism that was making its way into the schools of the time (represented by Thomas Aquinas).
Bonaventure's Life of St. Francis was a favorite book of the Middle Ages.
Dante had already included him among the inhabitants of his "Paradise."

Friends of the Rosary,
Today, July 14, the Catholic Church in the USA celebrates the Memorial of St. Kateri Tekakwitha (1656-1680), the "Lily of the Mohawks,"the first native American to be declared "Blessed" and "Saint."
Kateri was born in 1656 near the town of Auriesville, New York. She refused to marry a Mohawk man and, at nineteen, finally got the courage to take the step of converting. One year later, she was baptized by a Jesuit missionary on Easter Sunday in 1676, given the name Kateri (Catherine).
She was devoted to the Eucharist and to Jesus Crucified, leading a life of prayer, penitential practices, and care for the sick.
Kateri incurred the hostility of her tribe because of her faith while praying for the conversion of her nation.
Witnesses said that her emaciated face changed color and became like that of a healthy child. The lines of suffering, even the pockmarks, disappeared, and the touch of a smile came upon her lips. She was beatified in 1980.

Friends of the Rosary,
In today's Gospel (Matthew 10:34-11:1), Jesus the Lord says, “Whoever does not take up his cross and follow after me is not worthy of me.”
Christ must be first because only then do our other loves become rightly ordered. All creation is ordered to the Divine, so it's wise to recognize that our discipleship cannot be something added on the edges of life.
The first reading from Isaiah is just as direct. If we love God, that love has to show up in mercy, honesty, protection of the vulnerable, and a willingness to stop doing evil. “Wash yourselves clean… make justice your aim.” Prayer must become conversion.
The saint of the day, St. Henry II, Emperor II, regarded power as a responsibility before God, supporting reform and seeking to govern justly. His life reminds us that holiness is not only for churches and monasteries. It belongs in decisions, leadership, family duties, work, and public life.

Friends of the Rosary,
Today, Sunday’s Gospel (Matthew 13:1-23), we are given the parable of the sower.
The seed — the Word of God — is good, but the soil — human response — dramatically differs.
Some hearts are hardened, some distracted and confused by anxiety and worldly lures, and some are ready to receive the Word deeply.
Jesus gently asks us what kind of soil we are today.
In the first reading, Isaiah says God’s word is like rain and snow: it does not return empty, but accomplishes what God sends it to do. Even when growth feels slow, grace is not wasted. God keeps working beneath the surface.
As a prayer for today, we ask the Lord to make our hearts good soil. Let His Word take root in us, bear fruit through us, and teach us mercy!
Ave Maria!
Come, Holy Spirit, come!
To Jesus through Mary! Here I am, Lord; I come to do your will.

Sun, 12 Jul 2026 - 29min - 2205 - July 11, 2026, Memorial of St. Benedict, Abbot, Holy Rosary (Joyful Mysteries)
Friends of the Rosary,
Today is the Memorial of St. Benedict (480-547), the father of Christian monasticism.
St. Benedict was born in Nursia, Italy, in 480 and, after being educated in Rome, left the world to live as a solitary hermit at Subiaco. He organized a form of monastic life in twelve small monasteries. Under his guidance, as abbot, the monks vowed to seek God and devoted themselves to work and prayer.
A few years later, St. Benedict left the district of Subiaco to found the abbey of Monte Cassino on the heights of Campania. There, he wrote his famous Rule, the monks' program of life, in which the Roman genius and the monastic wisdom of the Christian world are wonderfully combined.
His rule prescribed common sense, a life of moderate asceticism, prayer, study, and work, and community life under one superior. It stressed obedience, stability, and zeal, and made the Divine Office the center of monastic life; it would affect spiritual and monastic life in the West for centuries to come.
While ruling his monks (most of whom, including Benedict, were not ordained), he counseled rulers and Popes, ministered to the poor and destitute around him, and tried to repair the ravages of the Lombard invasion led by Totila.
For St. Benedict, the fundamental, and even more, the sole objective of existence is the search for God: "Quaerere Deum." He knew that when the believer enters into a profound relationship with God, he cannot be content with living in a mediocre way, with a minimalist ethic and superficial religiosity.
In this light, the faithful better the expression that Benedict took from St. Cyprian, and that is summarized in his Rule (IV, 21): Nihil amori Christi praeponere. Prefer nothing to the love of Christ.
Associated with the life of the saint and worn on a Rosary, the Saint Benedict Medal is used by many faithful as a sacramental for spiritual protection against evil and temptation, and as a prayer of exorcism against Satan.
The primary prayer associated with the Saint Benedict medal is an exorcism prayer, often represented by initials on the medal, which translates to: "May the Holy Cross be my light; May the dragon never be my guide. Begone, Satan! Never tempt me with your vanities. What you offer is evil; Drink the poison yourself!".Ave Maria!
Come, Holy Spirit, come!

Friends of the Rosary,
Today’s Gospel (Matthew 10:16-23) continues Jesus’ mission discourse, with apostles sent “like sheep in the midst of wolves,” so Christ calls them to be both wise and innocent. Catholic discipleship is not naivety. It is courage without fear.
In the first reading, "Return, O Israel, to the LORD," we observe that God does not merely demand repentance; He promises healing. “I will love them freely.” The Psalm answers with the prayer every sinner needs: “Create a clean heart in me, O God.” Before we can witness before others, we have to let God restore the heart within us.
Also, the martyr saints of today, Sts. Rufina and Secunda highlight the Gospel's message. These Roman Christian martyrs show us that fidelity and love for the Lord are costly. So let's be gentle, not weak. Wise, but not calculating. If pressure comes, let's trust that the Spirit of the Father can speak through us at the hour we need Him.
Ave Maria!

Fri, 10 Jul 2026 - 29min - 2203 - July 9, 2026, St. Augustine Zhao Rong, priest, and Companions, Chinese Martyrs, Holy Rosary (Luminous Mysteries)
Friends of the Rosary,
In today’s Gospel (Matthew 10:7-15), Jesus’ apostles are sent to proclaim that the Kingdom of heaven is near. They are also told to travel lightly: no gold, no extra tunic, no dependence on worldly security.
The lesson is clear: mission begins in trust. We give because we have first received.
The first reading shows the heart of God as a Father who loved Israel from childhood, taught him to walk, and drew him with “bands of love.” Even when Israel wanders, God’s mercy is not cold or distant. His holiness is revealed in justice and patient, wounded love.
Today’s honored saints, St. Augustine Zhao Rong, priest, and Companions, Chinese Martyrs, make this Gospel concrete. They witnessed to Christ in China through persecution, imprisonment, and martyrdom. Some were priests, many were laypeople, and many were native-born Chinese Catholics.
Their feast reminds us that the Kingdom is proclaimed not only by preaching but by fidelity when faith becomes costly.
The challenge for the faithful: give freely and carry peace into the house you enter. If that peace is rejected, do not become bitter. Leave the dust behind, but keep the Gospel alive in your own heart.
Ave Maria!

Friends of the Rosary,
Today’s Gospel (Matthew 10:1-7) shows Jesus summoning the Twelve and giving them authority to drive out demons and cure every disease.
"As you go, make this proclamation: ‘The Kingdom of heaven is at hand.’"
Discipleship is an invitation to all of us. Christ calls, names, equips, and sends. And the mission begins close to home: “the lost sheep of the house of Israel.”
Meanwhile, the first reading of the Gospel warns against a fruitful life that becomes divided from God. Israel grows prosperous, but the prosperity feeds false altars. The Catholic lesson is sharp: blessings are meant to deepen worship, not replace it. The Lord asks us to “sow justice” and “seek the Lord” while there is time.
Saints Aquila and Priscilla, the saints of the day, fit this Gospel beautifully. They were a married couple, coworkers of St. Paul, and their home became a place where the Church could gather and grow. Their witness reminds us that mission is not only for priests, apostles, or public preachers. A household can become a domestic church.
St. John Chrysostom wrote, “The home is a little church.”
Let Christ’s authority enter ordinary rooms, ordinary conversations, ordinary duties. The Kingdom is proclaimed not only by words, but by the shape of a faithful life.

Friends of the Rosary,
As we read today (Matthew 9:32-38), Jesus was driving out demons from possessed people; in today’s passage, He healed a man who was unable to speak.
But the Pharisees, full of pride and no mercy, rather than rejoicing when God works in unexpected ways, contrary to our expectations, responded with suspicion, accusing Jesus of acting by the power of demons. They said, “He drives out demons by the prince of demons.”
But the Son of God didn’t respond. He was going around to all the towns and villages in Israel, “teaching in their synagogues, proclaiming the Gospel of the Kingdom, and curing every disease and illness.”
We continue reading,
“At the sight of the crowds, his heart was moved with pity for them
because they were troubled and abandoned,
like sheep without a shepherd.”“Then he said to his disciples,
“The harvest is abundant, but the laborers are few;
so ask the master of the harvest
to send out laborers for his harvest.”This Gospel shows the heart of Jesus in a very direct way. He does not look at the crowd as a problem to manage. He sees their wounds, confusion, fear, and spiritual hunger.
Christ's compassion is not a vague emotion; it becomes healing, teaching, and a mission. His love always moves toward the person who is suffering.
A final note: To pray for laborers is also to become willing to be sent by the Lord. People need shepherds, witnesses, teachers, confessors, parents, friends, and ordinary Christians who carry Christ's mercy into daily life.

Tue, 07 Jul 2026 - 31min - 2200 - July 6, 2026, Feast of St. Maria Goretti, Holy Rosary (Joyful Mysteries)
Friends of the Rosary,
Today, July 6, Catholics honor Maria Goretti (1890-1902) as the saint of the day, a paramount example of virtue, courage, and holiness who met a martyr's death.
St. Maria was born near Ancona (Italy), the daughter of a poor peasant family. Maria was well known to her neighbors for her cheerfulness and piety.
When she was twelve, she was a victim of assault; she preferred to die rather than to lose her virginity.
When she refused to submit to the attacker, Alessandro Serenellis, a 20-year-old farmer, stabbed her 14 times.
She was taken to the hospital, but she died while forgiving him.
During imprisonment, the assassin repented. He later became a lay brother in a Capuchin monastery.
Maria was beatified in 1947 and canonized in 1950. The repentant murderer sat next to her mother, Assunta, at the beatification, who also forgave him.It was also the first time a parent was present for their own child's canonization.
With splendid courage, the virgin martyr surrendered herself to God and his grace and so gave her life to protect her virginity.
In the homily at the canonization of Saint Maria Goretti, Pope Pius XII said,"Let us all, with God's grace, strive to reach the goal that the example of the virgin martyr, Saint Maria Goretti, sets before us. Through her prayers to the Redeemer, may all of us, each in his own way, joyfully try to follow the inspiring example of Maria Goretti, who now enjoys eternal happiness in heaven."
We are all called to the pursuit of Christian virtue.Ave Maria!

Friends of the Rosary,
As we read today (Matthew 11:25-30), Christ declares, "All things have been handed over to me by my Father."
Things of heaven are "revealed to little ones,"while hiding them from the wise and the learned
Why is that? Because they are the ones who refuse to rely on themselves and are disposed to receive all that God is eager to give.
In addition, Our Lord invites us to rest on Him, bringing to Him all of our concerns and anxieties:
"Come to me, all you who labor and are burdened,
and I will give you rest.
Take my yoke upon you and learn from me,
for I am meek and humble of heart;
and you will find rest for yourselves.
For my yoke is easy, and my burden light."Ave Maria!

Friends of the Rosary,
Today, July 4, the United States celebrates Independence Day. It’s an iconic day: the 250th anniversary of the adoption of the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776.
That day, the Congress issued a Declaration of Independence, announcing "that these united colonies are, and of right ought to be, free and independent states."
With France's help, the Americans defeated the British, and the English Parliament decided to make peace and accept American independence.
With independence won, the thirteen states set out to form a new nation.
This 4th of July, we recall the day when our country claimed its place among the family of nations, by being one country, under divine providence, sharing God’s blessings with all the peoples of the earth.
The Catholic Church in the U.S. incorporates into the liturgy a special Mass asking for peace, justice and truth, asking us to pray that God will strengthen and bless America and make this nation a haven of liberty and justice for all—born and unborn.

Friends of the Rosary,
Today, July 3, we celebrate the Feast of St. Thomas, the Apostle, who at first did not believe, but immediately after became, for the Church, one of the first witnesses to her faith.
He expressed the fervor of his regained faith: "My Lord and my God."
Pope St. Gregory the Great said, "Thomas' unbelief has benefited our faith more than the belief of the other disciples."
The Lord permitted the apostle to doubt after the resurrection, but He did not abandon him in doubt. By his doubt and by his touching the sacred wounds, the apostle became a witness to the truth of the resurrection.
St. Thomas preached the Gospel in Asia beyond the frontiers of the Roman Empire, probably in Persia and possibly as far afield as India.
After he had converted numerous tribes to Christianity, at Calamina (near Madras in India) he suffered martyrdom by being pierced with lances at the king's command.

Friends of the Rosary,
Today, in Matthew 9:1–8, the Gospel's main reading, Christ the Lord heals a paralytic after first forgiving his sins.
"Your sins are forgiven."
The Son of God forgives our sins because he doesn't want us to be paralyzed by darkness. He is bringing us to a new future, a deeper life of peace, hope, and fulfillment.
Sin is our nonsense refusal to live in accordance with the big plans that God has for us, in this present life or in the next one. We truly need to be liberated from our burden.
After our sins are forgiven, we can move forward liberated, like the paralyzed man in today's passage.
"Rise, pick up your stretcher, and go home."Ave Maria!

Friends of the Rosary,
Today, July 1, the Feast of St. Junípero Serra (1713–1784), we read in the Gospel (Matthew 8:28-34) how Jesus confronted the demonic torment of two possessed men.
The most unsettling part was not only the presence of evil but the reaction of the townspeople: after witnessing Christ’s power, they preferred that He leave. Grace has arrived, but they experience it as a disruption and prefer to remain attached to security and possessions.
Jesus came not to make our compromises more comfortable, but to save us.
Today’s saint, St. Junípero Serra, a Spanish Franciscan priest known as the "Apostle of California", lived with missionary urgency. His motto was: “Always forward, never back.” That is a fitting answer to this Gospel.
When Christ enters with authority, the Christian response is not retreat but movement toward Him, even when His grace unsettles what we have grown accustomed to.
Only Jesus can bring true peace, because only Jesus has authority over sin, fear, and evil.
St. Junípero Serra left Europe at age 35 to become a missionary. He founded the first nine of 21 Spanish missions in California, spanning from San Diego to San Francisco. His work helped spread Christianity and shape modern agriculture in California.

Friends of the Rosary,
Today, June 30th, the Universal Church celebrates the Memorial of the First Martyrs of the Holy Roman Church to honor the nameless followers of Christ brutally killed by the evil Emperor Nero as scapegoats for the fire in Rome.
Historians tell about a night of horror (August 15, 64 A.D.) when in the imperial parks Christians were brutally attacked and made into living torches to light the road for Nero's chariot.
According to Tacitus, a "great multitude" of Christians were put to death because of their "hatred of the human race." Peter and Paul were probably among the victims.
From 64 to 314, "Christian" was synonymous with "execution victim."
Threatened by an army revolt and condemned to death by the Senate, Nero committed suicide in A.D. 68 at the age of thirty-one.
Many of those who began to follow Jesus shared his suffering and death. The blood of martyrs has always been the seed of Christians.

Friends of the Rosary,
Today, June 29th, the Universal Church celebrates the Solemnity of Saints Peter and Paul, apostles. They are the solid rock, the principal pillars, on which the Church is built. Both apostles were martyred under the reign of Emperor Nero, in Rome, then the capital of the Empire, around the year 64.
Peter was crucified upside down, while Paul, a Roman citizen, was beheaded.
St. Peter was buried on the hill of the Vatican on the very site of today’s Basilica of St. Peter's. St. Paul was beheaded in the Via Ostia on the spot where now stands the basilica bearing his name.
Among the Twelve Apostles, Peter became the spokesman, declaring: “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.” At Pentecost, he delivered the first fiery sermon of the infant Church.
Although not one of the Twelve, Paul is also called an apostle (the thirteenth apostle, the apostle to the Gentiles) after encountering the resurrected Jesus on the road to Damascus while persecuting Christians.
Early church fathers, like St. Augustine, noted that even if they died on different days, they are celebrated together because of their intertwined legacies.
In the Catholic Church, it is a holy day of obligation in some regions and is marked by the Pope with a Grand Papal Mass at St. Peter's Basilica.
In many predominantly Catholic cities (especially in Rome, as well as in Latin America and Europe), the day is marked with local processions, traditional seafood feasts, and outdoor festivals.
