Drawing on the draft Commonhold and Leasehold Reform Bill 2026, the discussion examines why leasehold has become politically unpopular, the key differences between leasehold and commonhold, and the challenges involved in transitioning from one system to the other.

    The seventh episode, Are You Having a LAFRA?, is hosted by Joseph Ollech and Gavin Bennison and explores the role of human rights in property law. The discussion begins with the presenters' reflections on their own experiences of litigating human rights issues before turning to the ARC Time litigation in the High Court, in which six landlord groups challenged three key provisions of the Leasehold and Freehold Reform Act 2024, arguing that they were incompatible with Article 1 of Protocol 1 to the European Convention on Human Rights.
