The Raven Guard, known as the XIX Legion during the Great Crusade, epitomizes guerilla warfare and covert operations under the leadership of their enigmatic Primarch, Corvus Corax. Originating from the moon Deliverance (originally Lycaeus), they have been stalwart defenders of the Imperium of Man. The Legion's size was relatively small, with a force of 80,000 Astartes. Despite their numbers, they were formidable, employing tactics of mass sabotage, rapid strikes, and expert covert operations, honed to perfection during Corax's revolution against the Tech Guilds of Kiavahr​​.

Corax's upbringing on Deliverance shaped the Raven Guard's future. His revolutionary actions against the oppressive Tech Guilds of Kiavahr were marked by no mercy for the captors and a brutal, short war. His cunning in battle led to the renaming of Lycaeus to Deliverance, symbolizing the liberation from slavery. The dark tower that once held the oppressors became the Raven Guard's fortress, named the Ravenspire, and the source of their future strength during the Great Crusade​​.

The Horus Heresy brought devastation to the Raven Guard. During the infamous Drop Site Massacre on Isstvan V, the Legion's numbers were decimated from 80,000 to a mere 3,000 battle-hardened veterans, a testament to the treachery and brutality of the war. The betrayal by fellow legions marked a dark chapter in the Raven Guard's history, forcing Corax and his warriors to fight in conditions starkly contrary to their preferred tactics of stealth and surprise​​.

Amidst the chaos, the Raptors, an elite group within the Legion, emerged as a meld of regular Astartes and Primarch DNA discovered by Corax on Terra. These warriors were stronger, faster, and tougher than their counterparts, playing a pivotal role in the battles that followed. Despite the mutations and the subsequent internal conflict that nearly tore them apart, the Raptors were given full honors and continued to fight valiantly for the Legion​​.

In the aftermath of the Heresy, the Raven Guard continued to uphold their legacy, participating in key battles across the galaxy. Their engagements, such as the Siege of Baal, the Battle of Arissak, and confrontations against formidable foes like the Death Guard and Emperor's Children, underscore their unwavering dedication to the Imperium​​.

Throughout their history, the Raven Guard has remained a symbol of resilience and adaptability, their very essence shaped by the trials of their Primarch and the relentless battles they have endured. Their story is not just one of warfare but also of survival and undying loyalty to their ideals and the Imperium of Man.

Malcador the Sigillite, a figure shrouded in mystery and power, stands as one of the most pivotal characters in the Warhammer 40K universe. Known also as Malcador the Hero, he was the First Lord of Terra and the Grand Master of Assassins during the crucial Horus Heresy period. As a potent psyker, his capabilities allowed him to communicate over vast distances and exert immense influence and power.

Malcador's life was marked by his close association with the Emperor of Mankind, serving as a trusted confidant and crucial advisor. His origins are largely unknown, wrapped in the enigma of the ancient order of the Sigillites, dedicated to preserving powerful human artifacts. It's believed that he encountered the Emperor before the latter rose to his title, aiding in formulating the grand plan that would shape the Imperium's destiny.

His influence extended beyond mere counsel. During the Emperor's absence, Malcador was often the de facto ruler of Terra, bearing the weight of the burgeoning Imperium on his shoulders. His legacy is further cemented by his dark dealings, such as the repeated cloning of the Eldar prisoner Ael Wyntor, showcasing a willingness to venture into morally gray territories for the perceived greater good.

Malcador's resilience was legendary. Surviving a brutal assault from Lorgar, a Primarch, with little harm, showcased his extraordinary durability and strength. His strategic mind was crucial during the Horus Heresy, working alongside figures like Rogal Dorn to prepare Terra's defenses against the impending siege.

Perhaps his most lasting contribution was the establishment of the Grey Knights. Selecting elite warriors like Garviel Loken and Nathaniel Garro, he laid the foundation for this group to combat Chaos forces tirelessly. Despite his pivotal role in the Imperium's defense, Malcador's end was as dramatic as his life. He willingly took the Emperor's place on the Golden Throne, a decision that ultimately led to his demise but not before securing his place as a hero in the annals of the Imperium.

Malcador's name and legacy live on, not just in the tales of his deeds but also tangibly in the form of the formidable Malcador tank, a testament to his enduring impact on the Imperium of Man​

The Adeptus Custodes, a central faction in the Warhammer 40K universe, embody the ultimate guardians of the Emperor of Mankind. As the Emperor's personal bodyguards, they are unparalleled warriors, each a masterpiece of genetic engineering. Their history is deeply intertwined with the Imperium's, being involved in crucial events and conflicts throughout the galaxy.

Historically, the Adeptus Custodes were originally ten thousand strong, but their numbers dwindled during the War Within the Webway. By the 41st Millennium, they restored their ranks to their original strength. They are a department of the Adeptus Terra, answerable only to the Emperor and their leaders, with the Captain-General being their chief custodian. Their ranks and titles reflect a hierarchy of respect and experience, with positions such as Shield-Captains and Tribunes holding significance.

The Adeptus Custodes have engaged in numerous battles and campaigns, including the Indomitus Crusade, the Defense of Vostagraad, and the Witching Wars. Their recent activities, as noted during the Era Indomitus, involve battles against formidable enemies like the Hexarchy and the Black Legion. They are known for their participation in various crusades and wars, demonstrating their unyielding commitment to the Imperium's defense.

The faction's equipment and armory are as distinctive as their warriors. Their arsenal includes advanced armors like the Allarus Terminator and Custodian Armor, various shields, and unique weaponry. They deploy formidable walkers like the Venerable Contemptor Dreadnought and vehicles such as the Caladius and Dawneagle Pattern Jetbike. Their aircraft arsenal includes the Orion Gunship and Ares Gunship, among others. They also possess relics that symbolize their heritage and prowess.

The Adeptus Custodes are divided into various subdivisions and castes, such as the Hykanatoi, Sentinel Guard, and the elite Companions who serve as the Emperor's personal bodyguard. These subdivisions reflect their diverse roles and specializations within the faction.

Regarding their feelings towards the Primarchs, the Adeptus Custodes view them with a mixture of respect and wariness, recognizing their power and importance to the Imperium while being cautious of their potential for betrayal or harm, as seen during the Horus Heresy.

The Eldar, or Aeldari as they call themselves, are an ancient race of elf-like humanoids in the Warhammer 40k universe. Once dominant across the galaxy, they are now a dwindling race, scattered among the stars and webway in various factions and allegiances after the catastrophic event known as the Fall of the Eldar. This video explores the major Eldar subfactions, each with its unique culture, history, and role in the galaxy.

Asuryani (Craftworld Eldar): The Asuryani inhabit massive planetoid-sized vessels known as Craftworlds. Each Craftworld, such as Alaitoc, Biel-Tan, Iyanden, Saim-Hann, and Ulthwé, has its distinct society and customs. These Craftworlds are the last remnants of the Eldar's original worlds, housing biodomes that preserve their ancestral heritage. The Asuryani are known for their strict adherence to the Eldar Path, a system designed to control their intense emotions and psychic abilities.

Exodites: The Exodites are Eldar who fled their homeworlds before the Fall, settling on remote Maiden Worlds. They lead a simpler, agrarian lifestyle but maintain a level of technology and are often protected by Craftworld Biel-Tan. Despite their more primitive way of life, the Exodites play a crucial role in preserving the Eldar's cultural legacy.

Harlequins: Followers of the Laughing God, Cegorach, the Harlequins are mysterious and enigmatic warriors and performers. They travel through the Webway, performing tales of the Eldar's history and guarding the Black Library of Chaos. Harlequins are formidable fighters, especially in close combat, and often join forces with other Eldar in battle.

Ynnari: A relatively new faction, the Ynnari are followers of Ynnead, the Eldar god of the dead. They seek to unite all Eldar factions against the forces of Chaos and play a pivotal role in the recent galactic events, including the Psychic Awakening.

In this episode, we cover the Imperial Knights within the Warhammer 40k universe. These towering bipedal engines of war hail from feudal worlds known as Knight Worlds with each Knight being piloted by a Noble on the Throne Mechanicum. With Knights sworn to the Emperor being known as Questor Imperialis and those to the Omnissiah as Questor Mechanicus. Operated from Knight Households or Questoris Familia, these Knights are piloted by Knight Scions.

The history of Imperial Knights dates back to the Dark Age of Technology, with colonization ships reaching their pre-chosen worlds and facing lethal wildlife or hostile conditions. The first Knight suits, created by STC machines, were designed to defend against predators and hostile Xenos. Over time, a feudal system formed, with those protected by the Knights becoming vassals to their masters.

During the Age of Strife, Mars sent expeditions to find remnants of human knowledge, leading to the discovery of Knight Worlds. These worlds, ruled by aristocratic nobles, welcomed the Tech-priests as saviors. The Tech-priests traded with these worlds, providing technical expertise and rebuilding assistance in exchange for manpower and security against enemies like Orks and Eldar Exodites.

Knight Worlds operate under a strict feudal system, typically sworn to either the Adeptus Terra or Adeptus Mechanicus. Each world is led by Knight Houses, made up of Nobles who pilot Knight suits into battle. To become a Knight Pilot, one must undergo the Ritual of Becoming. Knight Houses sworn to the Adeptus Terra are led by a High Monarch, with Barons ruling fiefs of territory. Knight Houses sworn to the Adeptus Mechanicus often accompany the Collegia Titanica or defend key Forge Worlds.

Knight armour comes in various forms, with common types being the Knight Paladin and Knight Errant, both using the same basic body form but fitted with different weapons arrays. All Imperial Knights are protected by thick adamantium armour and Ion Shields. Other types of Knight armour include the Crusader, Castellan, and Lancer, each suited for specific roles in warfare.

In this episode I try to cover all the comprehensive details of the Imperial Knights, including their history, society, types of Knights, Knight armour, and notable Knight Scions. It provides an in-depth look into the world of Imperial Knights, their role in the Warhammer 40k universe, and their significance in the lore and gameplay. While also having a dash of humor whenever possible.

In this episode, we delve deep into the lore of the Leagues of Votann, a formidable civilization in the Warhammer 40k universe, examining their origins, evolution, and current status. We begin by exploring their former incarnation as the Squats, addressing their annihilation by the Tyranids and the subsequent removal of the Squats from the 40k setting. This removal echoes a broader trend in the 1990s, particularly in comic books, where a shift toward darker, more serious content led to the elimination of lighter elements. This period, known as the Dark Age of Comic Books, was marked by an increased focus on mature themes, often at the expense of narrative depth and complexity.

Transitioning back to the Leagues of Votann, we discuss their canonization and the fate of the Mad Core, a Votann that once served the Emberg-Aegnir Bloc League before its destruction by Hive Fleet Leviathan. The Mad Core's descent into insanity, fueled by the absorbed pain and desolation of the deceased, serves as a poignant tale among the surviving Leagues, warning of the perils that lurk in the 40k universe. While also showing the power that lies within each core. 

A power that is waning. The Leagues of Votann have experienced a gradual decline in the effectiveness of their Ancestor Cores. Traditionally, when a Kin dies, they are integrated into their Ancestor Core, contributing their experiences to assist future generations. However, over millennia, this practice has ironically led to the decline of these Cores. Originally part of the Imperium, the Kin of the Leagues of Votann have a complicated relationship with their human roots. The Kin often find themselves at odds with the Imperium, sometimes allies, more often enemies. Particularly, they hold a disdain for the Adeptus Mechanicus, viewing their acquisitive ignorance as dangerous. 

Finally, we discuss the impact of the Cicatrix Maledictum, also known as the Great Rift, a cataclysmic event that divided the galaxy and compelled the Leagues to leave the Galactic Core.

As much as Warframe seems like a gun go bang bang sword go swing happy go lucky looter sci-fi looter shooter, upon dipping your toes into the universe you discover a bottomless void of weird and terrifying events. Warframe is the epitome of those gameplay vs lore memes with the Somebody that I used to Know remix, you know the ones.
