The visitors were reduced to 10 men just 13 minutes into the game after Jean-Philippe Mateta was given a straight red card for a foul on Micky van de Ven and we took full advantage, enjoying 80 per cent possession and having 34 shots, nine on target. The good news continued on the night with more minutes under his belt for substitute Dejan Kulusevski following his lengthy injury lay-off, while there was also a Premier League debut for 18-year-old Academy product Luca Williams-Barnett. With Roberto De Zerbi's side looking to build on consecutive victories and make it three league wins in a row, we look ahead to another important test for Spurs as they aim to maintain their improving momentum and continue climbing the Premier League table. The panel break down the big-match preview, discussing the latest team news, potential starting XI, key individual battles and the tactical approach Spurs will need to take against a Crystal Palace side who will be looking to make life difficult in North London. Can Tottenham continue their recent resurgence and deliver another statement performance in front of their home supporters? There is also plenty to get stuck into away from the pitch, as we turn our attention to Tottenham's recruitment plans and the latest names being linked with a move to N17. We discuss the possibility of Spurs revisiting a move for highly-rated young forward Eli Junior Kroupi, assessing his potential, what he could bring to De Zerbi's attacking options and whether Tottenham should be looking to secure his signature. The conversation also turns to Alex Freeman, with Spurs reportedly keeping an eye on the talented young defender. We examine the prospect of Tottenham stepping up their scouting interest, his qualities and whether he could be another exciting addition to the club's long-term recruitment strategy. Finally, we revisit the fascinating Morgan Gibbs-White transfer saga. Having previously come so close to bringing the Nottingham Forest midfielder to North London, could Tottenham reignite their interest? We reflect on what happened during the original pursuit, why Gibbs-White remains an attractive proposition and whether a second attempt could finally see him wearing the Lilywhite shirt. From the Palace showdown to potential transfer moves, scouting targets and unfinished business in the transfer market, there is plenty for the panel to debate. Can Spurs make it three wins on the bounce? Which players should be on the club's recruitment radar? In a ceremony in London this evening (Monday 26 October), Harry, who came through our Academy ranks before breaking Jimmy Greaves' long-standing goalscoring record for the Club, has been named the world's greatest footballer. Scoring a record 280 goals for us in 435 appearances, Harry joined our Academy back in 2009 before signing his first professional contract the following year as his journey to becoming a true Tottenham great began. Perhaps his greatest moment in a Spurs shirt came in 2023 though as he broke a record no one associated with the Club ever thought was going to be broken - Jimmy Greaves' all-time goalscoring record of 266 goals. Yet, Harry was going to be the man to do it. He was always going to be the man to do it. Determined and ambitious, unrelenting but ever humble, Harry worked, and worked and worked to succeed, so perhaps there was no player better befitting of breaking that record. One of our Own, Harry Kane. Scoring goal number 267 for us in a 1-0 win over Manchester City in February, 2023, he went on to score a further 13 goals for us before departing for FC Bayern in the summer. He has continued to find success with FC Bayern, breaking record after record after record in Bavaria and now has the greatest individual honour any footballer can aspire to achieve. Recognised by his peers as the greatest footballer in the world with the Ballon d'Or trophy. As our first Academy graduate that has gone on to win the award, we could not be prouder. Congratulations, H. #THFC #COYS #TOTTENHAM Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices

For the first time in eight years, Tottenham Hotspur have conquered Stamford Bridge, securing just their second victory in 42 attempts at Chelsea’s home ground. But was this more than just a historic win? Could this be the moment everything finally clicks under Roberto De Zerbi? On the latest episode of Last Word On Spurs, we go in-depth on a landmark result, dissecting the performance, the tactical battles and the mentality behind Spurs finally breaking their Stamford Bridge curse. We ask whether we are beginning to see De Zerbi’s vision take shape, whether the players are finally buying into his methods, and if this could be the turning point that transforms Tottenham’s season. With the prospect of significant backing from the football club, we also look at the bigger picture. Just how far can De Zerbi take Spurs if he is given the tools, resources and time to build a team in his own image? Could this be the beginning of something special in North London? The curse is broken. The belief is building. But is the BIG-CLICK finally here? Join us as we break it all down on Last Word On Spurs. COYS! #THFC #COYS #TOTTENHAM Learn more about your ad choices. The Last Word On Spurs returned to revel in a glorious evening in west London which saw us enjoy a fantastic derby victory at Stamford Bridge after a dominant performance led to two late goals and a well-earned win over Chelsea. At a ground where so many of our hopes and dreams have been shattered in the past, we completely outclassed the Blues from start to finish, enjoying almost 70 per cent possession in the contest and achieving only our second win at Stamford Bridge in 34 years. Playing a brand of slick football which our hosts simply couldn’t cope with, we took the lead with 13 minutes remaining when Chelsea goalkeeper Mike Penders punched the ball into his own net on his first Premier League start. Cole Palmer then saw red after a second booking before we sealed the win thanks to a superb strike from Mathys Tel on his 50th league appearance in our colours. We discuss if this win truly does give us genuine lift-off under Roberto De Zerbi, the excitement of what this new look Spurs can go onto possibly achieve and whether the panel also really believe we have truly clicked, going into a crucual run of fixtures for the Club. #THFC #COYS #TOTTENHAM Learn more about your ad choices. James Maddison – making his first start since 1 May, 2025, and against his home town and boyhood club – set us on the way with a stunning opener before we were pegged back by a Jack Rudoni goal early in the second half. We weren’t to be denied this time though, with Omar Marmoush netting his first for the club with another wonderful goal, while Ben Davies popped up in stoppage time to secure the points. Perhaps the biggest cheer of the night though was reserved for Swedish forward Kulusevski, who came off the bench late on having been out of action for 17 months. Learn more about your ad choices. Spurs showed tremendous character to snatch a late 1-1 draw against Manchester United, despite being reduced to 10 men and were even looking to try and win the game beyond that. After dominating large spells but falling behind to Bryan Mbeumo’s second-half strike, Spurs looked up against it when Rodrigo Bentancur was sent off. However, Dominic Solanke had the final word, rising to head home a stoppage-time equaliser and register Tottenham’s first away Premier League goal of the season. But could this be the moment that sparks Spurs’ season into life? We discuss the significance of the result, Solanke’s crucial contribution, the team’s resilience under Roberto De Zerbi and whether this battling performance can provide the platform for a much-needed turnaround. Is this the beginning of a new chapter for Tottenham, or simply a spirited point in a season that still needs rescuing? We get into all the talking points, the positives, the concerns and what this result could mean for the road ahead. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices

The Last Word On Spurs panel returned as a performance of real character and courage helped us pick up a point at Old Trafford as Dominic Solanke scored a late equaliser against Manchester United, although that doesn’t begin to tell the full story of the game. Spurs were the dominant side for most of the contest as we created a whole host of chances, we just couldn’t find the back of the net and went behind to a Bryan Mbeumo goal in the 73rd minute. And we were left with a mountain to climb when substitute Rodrigo Bentancur was sent off shortly after coming on. But we refused to lie down, kept pushing and were ultimately rewarded when Solanke – captain on the day for the first time for us – headed home in the 92nd minute to give us a well-earned and much-deserved point. With Spurs bottom of the table after five matches, the pressure is already building, and the visit to Manchester United offers an opportunity to kick-start their campaign. Maddison has suffered another interruption to his preparations, missing three or four days of training around the end of last week and the start of this one. However, De Zerbi has confirmed that the midfielder is available for selection against United. Spurs have managed just two Premier League goals in their opening five matches, both coming late in their 3–2 defeat at Aston Villa. Their difficulty is not simply finding the net; it is creating enough clear chances to put opponents under sustained pressure. A positive result could give De Zerbi's project some much-needed momentum after a difficult opening spell. More importantly, it would offer evidence that his players are beginning to understand his tactical demands and can compete under pressure away from home. For Tottenham, the priority must be to remain in the game, make their attacking opportunities count and show greater resilience than they have in recent weeks. Ultimately, this is about more than three points. Spurs need a performance that demonstrates their season can still be turned around. A first Premier League win would be ideal, but even a hard-earned draw could provide the confidence and momentum they desperately need. Learn more about your ad choices. We firstly Vinai Tottenham chief executive Vinai Venkatesham has given his backing to head coach Roberto de Zerbi after his side's poor start to the season and on air we get dreaded injury news of Micky Van De Ven suffering a wrist injury. With Spurs temporarily out of the headlines, we reflect on what it’s been like to see Tottenham away from the back pages — and turn our attention to the storm brewing at Manchester City following the club’s guilty verdict relating to financial irregularities. What could the fallout mean for the Premier League, and could it have wider implications for Tottenham? We also delve into the increasingly important question of whether there is a genuine pathway for young players at Spurs, following Jamie Donley’s recent comments that he felt he was “pushed to one side”, we examine Tottenham’s approach to youth development and a summer that saw the club move on a significant amount of young talent, including Luka Vušković and Will Lankshear. Could Luca Williams-Barnett be the next youngster to break through and finally get his opportunity in the first team? Of course finally, we look ahead to the immediate future. Can Roberto De Zerbi turn around Tottenham’s dismal start domestically, and are there signs that Spurs can finally begin to find some consistency once the season resumes? On this very special episode of Last Word On Spurs, we are honoured to be joined by Tottenham Hotspur legend Chris Hughton for a fascinating and deeply personal conversation about his remarkable journey with the Club. Fresh from being inducted into the Tottenham Hotspur Hall of Fame in September 2026, as part of the Club’s newly relaunched heritage initiative, Chris takes us back through his extraordinary Spurs story — from breaking into the first team as a player in 1979, to being a key member of Keith Burkinshaw’s trophy-winning sides, and later returning to the Club to begin a hugely respected coaching career. We reflect on his memories of the glory years, winning the FA Cup in 1981 and 1982 and the UEFA Cup in 1984, his experiences alongside some of the greatest names in Spurs history, and the transition from player to coach as he went on to serve the Club for an incredible 25 years. But this conversation is about much more than football. Chris opens up about what Tottenham Hotspur means to him personally, the people and moments that shaped his life at the Club, the special bond between Spurs and it’s supporters, and what it meant to finally take his place in the Hall of Fame alongside so many of the legendary figures who helped write Tottenham’s history. A player. A coach. A mentor. A pioneer. And, above all, a Spurs man. Last Word On Spurs returns with Tottenham Hotspur correspondent Martin Lipton for a packed discussion on the latest developments surrounding Spurs. We begin with the seismic news that Manchester City have been found guilty of serious breaches of the Premier League’s financial rules over a nine-season period. With the findings potentially having significant implications for the competition during the years in which City dominated English football, we ask the question: do Tottenham have any legitimate claim to have been denied trophies, opportunities or sporting success as a result? And, if so, what could Spurs realistically expect to happen now? The Premier League has confirmed that the question of sanctions remains to be decided, with City also having the right to appeal the findings. We then turn our attention to Roberto De Zerbi's start to the season with Spurs. With results failing to meet expectations, is the Italian already under pressure to deliver, or does he need time to implement his ideas and build a team in his own image? We discuss the expectations surrounding De Zerbi and what constitutes a realistic timeline for improvement. There is also concern over Jan Paul Van Hecke after the Tottenham defender picked up a knock while away on international duty with the Netherlands. We assess the potential implications for Spurs as we await further news on the extent of the injury. Finally, we take a wider look at Tottenham's realistic ambitions for the season. With Spurs currently bottom of the Premier League table, already out of the Carabao Cup and with significant work still required to improve results both home and away, what can supporters realistically expect from the campaign from this point forward? Manchester City have been found guilty of the vast majority of the 115 Premier League charges. Former Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino says fans "lived through a period of deception." So where does that leave Tottenham? Jake Robson (An Echo of Glory), Ricky Sacks (Last Word on Spurs) and Sim (We Are Tottenham TV) spend the whole show on it, and they don't agree. Did City and Chelsea cost Spurs trophies during the Poch years? Does the verdict change how we judge Daniel Levy's tenure? He planned the club around the financial rules everyone else was meant to follow. Is that a defence, or was it naive? Did he fail to adapt once it was obvious those rules weren't being enforced? And what should a fair punishment look like now, when you can't turn back time? Is Levy's reputation due a rewrite? Dean has 20 years of experience in journalism, both breaking exclusive stories, writing headlines and leading production of the SunSport section. Dean explains why Tottenham MUST keep faith with De Zerbi’s tactics despite being rock bottom of Premier League. Dean illustrates that Spurs lead the league in several statistical categories, including successful take-ons, progressive passes and corners – although they are 18th in expected goals. Despite their blunt attack and lack of points, there are tactical reasons for Tottenham fans to remain optimistic. We also wrap-up the very latest news around Spurs including how Tottenham Hotspur are among the Premier League clubs that could have grounds to seek financial compensation after Manchester City are found guilty of 114 of the 115 charges against them. We also reflect on Andy Robertson's interview with The Overlap and also Lucas Bergvall's comments whilst on tour with Sweden while discussing how much expectations have shifted since the start of the season. Five games in, two points, two goals, and Spurs are rooted to the bottom of the Premier League after spending over £300m in the summer. Three fan channels, three different views, one very uncomfortable question: how worried should we actually be? We're debating: Has this start changed what you expect from the season? Top half, Europe, or just safety? When does the De Zerbi project get judged? Is "give him time" still a fair position, or has that window already started closing? Fatigue and condition: with 11 players at the World Cup and the full squad only together ten days before Everton, is this a genuine excuse or a convenient one? Bring your own take in the comments. The best ones get read out next week. Featuring hosts from An Echo of Glory, Last Word on Spurs and We Are Tottenham TV. #THFC #TOTTENHAM #SPURS Learn more about your ad choices. Spurs have just 2 points from their first five Premier League games, remain without a league win, and lost 3–2 at home to Aston Villa on Saturday. They have also been knocked out of the Carabao Cup by Liverpool and had gone four league matches without scoring before the Villa game. However, Fabrizio Romano reported after the Villa defeat that Tottenham currently have no plans to sack De Zerbi and are backing the project they invested heavily in during the summer. De Zerbi has a five-year contract, running to 2031, and Spurs made a major investment in new players over the summer. That appears to be giving him some protection while the new squad settles. Two goals in the closing stages from Conor Gallagher and Jan Paul van Hecke – his first in our colours – opened our league account for the campaign having failed to net in our previous four matches. However, by that stage, the visitors had taken a 3-0 lead, Johan Manzambi scoring on the stroke of half-time before Nicolas Jackson and Emi Buendia extended their advantage after the break. This is not literally a six-pointer in September, but the psychological importance is considerable. Tottenham enter the match with two points from four league games, sitting 17th, while Villa have only one point. Spurs have also failed to score in their first four Premier League matches — a remarkable early-season statistic given the scale of their summer recruitment. So there is an interesting dynamic: both teams desperately need the result, but for slightly different reasons. For Tottenham, a victory would provide De Zerbi with tangible evidence that his new side is beginning to function. Another poor result would leave the enormous summer investment — reported at more than £300m — looking increasingly disconnected from the league performances. De Zerbi himself has stressed that this is a new project and that Spurs will improve once the team "clicks." Tottenham have confirmed that Porro is available after missing the previous two games with a muscular problem. Sandro Tonali is also available after missing the Liverpool cup match with a knock. Porro gives Spurs another player capable of providing width and progression from the right. More importantly, his positioning can create an additional passing option when Villa attempt to close down the central areas. James Maddison's availability could be crucial .Maddison is now considered ready for a larger contribution after making consecutive substitute appearances. If Maddison can operate between Villa's midfield and defence, he could be one of the players capable of solving Tottenham's biggest problem: turning possession into genuinely dangerous chances. This is a very important early-season fixture for both clubs, but I'd frame it as a test of whether their respective projects can begin producing Premier League results rather than as a season-defining game. Conor Gallagher got us back in the contest with a headed goal and we had Liverpool on the ropes towards the end of the game, only for Dominik Szoboszlai to hit a stunning stoppage-time strike to finally end our resurgence. Head Coach Roberto De Zerbi made eight changes from Saturday’s goalless draw with Everton, with Martin Dubravka making his debut and Tosin Adarabioyo his first start, while Kudus was in the starting line-up for the first time since 4 January. Liverpool made 10 changes to their side from the weekend, only Ronald Araujo keeping his place. We discuss whether we should have gone stronger in our selection, where we are in the De Zerbi project and whether it's right that pressure should already be building on the manager following a winless start to the season so far and crashing out of one two winnable domestic cup competitions at this stage of the season. Tottenham endured a frustrating 0-0 draw against Everton at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, which was met with boos from home supporters at the final whistle. This stalemate marked the first time in Tottenham's history that they have failed to score a single goal in their opening four league matches. De Zerbi noted that the squad is suffering from a mental block in the final third. He cited late pre-season arrivals and persistent fitness issues as core reasons for their slow tactical integration. The winless streak leaves Spurs hovering just above the relegation zone in 17th place with only two points. De Zerbi also downplayed any rumors of friction with second-half substitute Mathys Tel after cameras captured a heated on-pitch coaching session at full-time. De Zerbi clarified that he was simply instructing the 21-year-old Frenchman on his body shape and positioning as a striker. Tensions have also grown between the club and forward Richarlison, who has been left out of De Zerbi's Premier League squad. The player's representatives have been exploring ways to terminate the final nine months of his contract, a resolution that Tottenham's hierarchy has rejected. Finally we look ahead to Liverpool in the Carabao Cup on Tuesday, with the need to see a competitive team to give Spurs the best opportunity of advancing to the next round of the competition. The Last Word On Spurs panellists assembles as we played out a second consecutive goalless draw in the Premier League as it ended all square against Everton on Saturday. It means we have yet to score in the competition after four games of the campaign but did pick up another point from a game of few clear-cut chances at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, with just five shots on target across the whole contest. We made an electric start but couldn’t capitalise on openings and half-chances and although we finished with 14 efforts at goal, we only seriously tested Jordan Pickford once in the Everton goal, a fine save low down to his left to turn away Lucas Bergvall’s shot from 20 yards in the second half. We discuss fan concerns over why Roberto De Zerbi's side aren't functioning given the amount of money invested into the team. We also debate whether the first quarter of a game is a glimpse of why fans should remain optimistic about the future under the Italian. In the game itself we highlight some of the individual performances including how impressive Jan Paul van Hecke looked and the relationship being formed alongside Micky van de ven after back-to-back clean sheets together. We reflect on positive performances for both Rodrigo Bentancur and Sandro Tonali and whether Dominic Solanke can genuinely be the answer to Tottenham's attack ever clicking, with the Richarlison decision to not register the player rearing it's head into a conversation, following his failed deadline-day move to Brazillian side Vasco De Gama. We finally close on the importance of the Carabao Cup tie against Liverpool and the need to see a competitive team with a positive selection to take the game to The Reds at Anfield. The latest episode of Last Word On Spurs is here as we react to Lucas Bergvall putting pen-to-paper on a new and improved long-term contract at Tottenham Hotspur. What does the deal mean for the Swedish midfielder, and is this a clear sign of Spurs’ commitment to building around their young talent? We then turn our attention to Richarlison, with the Brazilian looking increasingly likely to remain at the Club despite being left out of Tottenham’s Premier League squad. With a move to Vasco da Gama collapsing and his future hanging in the balance, we debate where the blame lies for the situation the striker now finds himself in — the player, the Club, or both? Finally, we look ahead to Saturday’s Premier League clash with Everton, discussing the latest team news, injury updates and selection dilemmas facing Roberto De Zerbi as Spurs look to secure their first Premier League win of the season and first goals of this new campaign. Omar Marmoush was a whisker away from his first Spurs goal in the opening stages at the City Ground with Antonin Kinsky denying Morgan Gibbs-White later in the first half, while Forest had the ball in the net mid-way through the second but Neco Williams saw his bundled effort ruled out for handball after a VAR review. In truth, neither side did enough to warrant victory on a sunny afternoon in the East Midlands, and while the point was hard-earned, it still leaves us in search of our first league goal of the new campaign. Tottenham Hotspur have officially concluded an incredibly explosive Summer 2026 Transfer Window under manager Roberto De Zerbi. Facing a massive squad rebuild following a challenging prior season, Spurs committed an eye-watering £394M in direct transfer outlays (with bills hitting up to £419M including loan options) while recouping around £264M through departures. We debate the business Spurs completed throughout the window including the deadline-day signings of Mykhailo Mudryk and defender Tosin Adarabioyo from Chelsea on transfer deadline day. Mudryk joins Spurs on loan until the end of the season while 28-year-old centre-back Adarabioyo has completed a permanent move worth up to £12m to the north London side. He will replace Kevin Danso at Spurs following the Austria international's loan move to Sunderland. As part of the agreement, Spurs have the option to turn Mudryk's move permanent for £75m. The move reunites the Ukraine international, 25, with Spurs boss Roberto de Zerbi, who was his manager at Shakhtar Donetsk before his move to Chelsea in 2023. Elsewhere on deadline-day Japan international Kota Takai went on a season-long loan to Belgian top-flight side Sint-Truidense. Midfielder Pape Matar Sarr has joined Juventus on a season-long loan, with the Serie A side having the option to make the move permanent next summer. Academy graduate Dane Scarlett also left the club to join League One side Leyton Orient on a permanent deal. WEBSITE: www.lastwordonspurs.com #THFC #TOTTENHAM #SPURS Learn more about your ad choices. Talks are understood to be at an advanced stage, with a deal largely agreed between the two clubs. The potential arrival of Ndiaye comes at the same time as Everton have agreed terms in principle to re-sign Richarlison from Spurs, with both clubs involved in significant squad reshaping ahead of the summer transfer deadline. In addition, Tottenham Hotspur now have an agreement in place for the transfer of central midfielder Pape Matar Sarr, who is set to join Juventus on loan with a potential obligation to buy. Sunderland have also received fresh encouragement in their pursuit of Kevin Danso after Roberto De Zerbi confirmed that the Tottenham defender has asked to leave before Tuesday night’s deadline. The Black Cats previously saw a loan move for the 27-year-old Austria international rejected, but Florent Ghisolfi has continued to keep Danso among the defensive options under consideration. Brentford are also reportedly weighing up a late move for Archie Gray, with Keith Andrews looking to strengthen his squad ahead of a potential European push. Late interest from Brentford has emerged two years after they saw Gray slip from their grasp when he opted to join Spurs. Tottenham are understood to want to retain the 20-year-old, having already rejected an approach from Newcastle earlier in the summer, and the club are likely to maintain a firm not-for-sale stance. Back in May, Roberto De Zerbi praised Gray's potential, describing him as a very young player with a big future ahead of him. The Spurs boss said he was confident Gray could become a future captain of the club, while also stressing the importance of settling on his best position. The Last Word On Spurs panel return as two second-half goals for Newcastle United consigned us to defeat in our first home game of the new Premier League season on Saturday evening. Despite the feelgood factor of a Spurs debut for new signing Omar Marmoush and an impressive first-half performance in which we created plenty of chances but couldn’t convert them into goals, the visitors struck twice in 10 minutes through Anthony Elanga and Yoane Wissa to make it back-to-back losses for us to open the league campaign. That made it four wins on their last five visits to N17 for Newcastle and also ensured this fixture still hasn’t seen a goalless draw in the 63 times it has been played in the Premier League. We discuss what has contributed to Spurs' poor start to the season and why the Club continue to look so under-prepared in comparison to our Premier League rivals. We debate whether a genuine number nine or a number 10 is what would help us as we go into the final days of the window, with Cody Gakpo choosing to go to Manchester City, are Spurs in a position to pivot to other options with suggestions that Everton’s Iliman Ndiaye is a prime target to complete their summer squad overhaul, with possibly heading back to Everton. We reflect on what the transfer-deadline day could bring us, with De Roberto Zerbi confirming Richarlison, Pape Sarr and Kevin Danso all requesting to leave the Club before the deadline. It's also understood that Archie Gray is attracting late interest from Brentford as the transfer window nears it's final conclusion. Tottenham Hotspur have officially entered the race for Everton forward Iliman Ndiaye, with Spurs viewing the Senegal international as a potential alternative to Cody Gakpo — but with Manchester City also circling both players, the transfer battle is heating up! Could Ndiaye’s arrival signal the end of Richarlison’s Spurs career, with the Brazilian potentially heading back to Everton in the opposite direction? Where does that leave Gakpo, with Tottenham’s pursuit of the Liverpool forward still ongoing? We also discuss the latest expected departures, with Pape Matar Sarr and Jamie Donley among those who are expected to leave before the deadline, while late offers for Lucas Bergvall could yet arrive. What about Victor Osimhen? Spurs have been warned that any last-gasp move for the Galatasaray striker could cost in excess of £150M. Finally, we turn our attention to the Premier League and Newcastle United, previewing the clash at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium as Spurs look to secure three precious points and kick-start their league campaign. The Egypt international joins former City teammate Savio in north London, following the Brazilian’s £75,M move to Tottenham earlier in the week, as Spurs’ summer spending rockets beyond £312M. In the latest episode of Last Word Of Spurs, we discuss Marmoush’s arrival and what he brings to the Tottenham attack, while assessing an extraordinary summer of transfer activity that has also seen Mateus Fernandes, Sandro Tonali, Jan Paul van Hecke, Marcos Senesi, Andy Robertson and Martin Dubravka arrive at the club. But with the transfer deadline fast approaching, the work isn’t finished yet. We look at the remaining business Spurs are attempting to complete, the positions still requiring attention and, most importantly, the club’s growing focus on Cody Gakpo as the Club still look to navigate a number of exits for players who are not seen as part of De Zerbi's long-term plans. Even before the Brazilian international’s wonderful goal just 11 minutes after coming off the bench, we’d seen Mikey Moore score with a thunderous strike, Dominic Solanke open his account for the season, Kevin Danso net his first goal for us with his first touch as a substitute, Micky van de Ven and Pedro Porro make their first appearances of the season in the second half to get important minutes in their legs and youngster Luca Williams-Barnett getting some game time late on. Some night! We also had a Ben Davies goal in the closing minutes, although that was so nearly another Savio strike as it was his goalbound effort that hit the Welsh defender on the way in! Charlton – who made 10 changes from their team that won at West Ham United on Saturday – netted a late consolation through Lloyd Jones. After securing our place in the third round, we will now face the Liverpool at Anfield in the week commencing 14 September. New manager, north of £200M spent this summer, and we were second best in every single area of that pitch. 3.96 xG to 0.47. Nobody is talking us into a good week. So here is how this works. Every Tuesday, Jonny from An Echo of Glory, Ben from We Are Tottenham TV and Billie from Last Word on Spurs each bring one hot take about Tottenham. One each. None of them has heard the other two before the cameras roll. Then they argue about it. This week all three have come out of the Brentford defeat, and none of them are the take you think they are going to be. One of them goes after a decision most fans have already accepted without questioning it. One of them says the damage was done weeks before a ball was kicked. And one of them is going to start a row in the comments, which is exactly the point. Everything else is on the table too. The two goals Kinsky will want back. Archie Gray captaining the side, the youngest to do it since Steve Perryman. Tonali skying one from 18 yards. Savinho agreed at £85m, Marmoush in the post, and whether any of it fixes what we watched on Saturday. Charlton in the cup, then Newcastle at home. It cannot look like that again. Tell us who won the argument in the comments. And bring your own hot take, the best ones get read out next week. Collectively COYS is the weekly Spurs show from An Echo of Glory, Last Word on Spurs and We Are Tottenham TV. Three channels, three takes, one panel, no agenda beyond arguing about our football club. We discuss the latest developments, and our number one alternative to Gakpo and assess why the club are yet to officially announce the arrivals of Savinho and Omar Marmoush. The uncertainty comes on a day when Manchester City released training footage showing Marmoush still at the club’s training base, despite multiple reports suggesting the Egyptian had travelled to London to undergo his medical. Savinho, meanwhile, is understood to have already completed his medical, with only the official confirmation of his move seemingly pending. We also discuss the latest on James Maddison, who requires further medical checks following the knock he picked up against Brentford, before closing with the developing story surrounding the consortium that announced an agreement to purchase the majority of Daniel Levy’s stake in ENIC, Tottenham’s parent company. Despite the announcement, the consortium is yet to pay for the deal, with questions now being raised over how the takeover will be funded. We discuss the breaking news of the ‘Here We Go’ confirmations for both Omar Marmoush and Savinho, with the Manchester City pair set to become Tottenham Hotspur’s latest summer signings. We also debate Spurs’ pursuit of Cody Gakpo and whether he remains a viable option, or whether Spurs may need to pivot towards alternative targets such as one of the Chelsea duo Nicolas Jackson and Mykhailo Mudryk. A move for Victor Osimhen, meanwhile, looks increasingly unrealistic at this stage given his substantial wage demands. If forwards are going to arrive, it surely means at least one will have to depart. Could Richarlison end up reuniting with Everton before the transfer window closes? Could Dominic Solanke still leave the club before deadline day? One Spurs player who certainly looks set to leave is Pape Matar Sarr, who is attracting interest from Galatasaray but is reportedly keen to remain in the Premier League. Lining up with a number of fresh faces amidst a summer of change, our new-look side struggled to get going at the Gtech Community Stadium and paid the price against a ruthless Bees outfit who established control early on and never looked back, Keane Lewis-Potter and Vitaly Janelt putting them two goals to the good with just over half-an-hour gone before Michael Kayode netted a third with the second period only four minutes old. The scoreline could have been even worse for us, but Igor Thiago saw his 55th-minute penalty cannon back off the post after Rodrigo Bentancur was deemed to have fouled Kevin Schade in the box. Mikey Moore had our best chances to get off the mark in the second half but was denied three times by home goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher as Brentford capitalised on our period of transition to register their first-ever home Premier League win against us. We debate whether our pre-season tour was simply a hinderance rather than a benefit and how our midfield was nullified by Brentford summer signing Mamadou Sangaré and whether we can bounce back quickly with Charlton to come on Wednesday in the Carabao Cup and then Newcastle United to follow at home, where Spurs should hopefully welcome Savinho and Omar Marmoush as additional attacking options for both games. We run through the latest team news and discuss how De Zerbi could set his side up at the Gtech Community Stadium, while assessing the challenges Brentford could pose and the threats Spurs will need to be ready for. There’s also plenty to get stuck into on the transfer front. Spurs are closing in on a sensational double swoop for Manchester City forwards Savinho and Omar Marmoush, as the club look to add some much-needed attacking firepower. We debate what the pair could bring to De Zerbi’s side and how they could change the balance of the team. We also discuss Tottenham’s ongoing pursuit of Cody Gakpo and what it might take for Liverpool to finally consider parting ways with the Netherlands international. With Spurs having already undergone a huge summer rebuild, we ask the big question: what more do Tottenham need to do to genuinely be considered Premier League title challengers? Finally, the boys lock in their season predictions — from where Spurs will finish to how far De Zerbi can take this new-look Tottenham side. Brentford. Transfers. Gakpo. Savinho. Marmoush. Spurs would ideally like to make it a TRIPLE SWOOP, with Cody Gakpo also joining the club. Gakpo is currently the toughest of the three deals to negotiate, although that could change if Liverpool decide to add more attackers to their squad. With the club’s pursuit of Savinho, Cody Gakpo and a new central striker continuing, the panel assesses what Tottenham still need to do in the transfer market before the window closes, with Vicario set to depart the Club for Juventus and Lucas Bergvall still potentially subject to a late bid from Nottingham Forest and Newcastle United. We also look beyond the summer preparations and debate what can genuinely be achieved this season. Is a trophy realistic? Richarlison opened the scoring 10 minutes before half-time before one of our own, Mikey Moore, stole the show with a second-half brace to round off an impressive afternoon back home. We also reflected on the confirmed departures of Cristian Romero to Atlético Madrid and Djed Spence to Inter Milan, before turning our attention to Spurs’ transfer pursuits of Cody Gakpo and Savinho. We also close on whether Nicolas Jackson be a worthwhile addition to Roberto D Zerbi's squad with time running out in the window. We discuss the imminent departures of Cristian Romero to Atlético Madrid and Djed Spence to Inter Milan, examining whether Spurs are potentially underselling two of their assets based on the respective fees agreed with both clubs. With Romero reportedly moving for around £34 million, despite Tottenham having previously invested heavily in the Argentine, there is plenty to debate over the value of the deal and what it says about Spurs' new approach to player sales. We also examine whether based on the World Cup performances Djed Spence put in for England, why Spurs have negotiated what some may feel is a nominal fee with Inter and did Tottenham really have to sell the England international. We also get the latest on Tottenham's long-standing pursuit of Savinho and Cody Gakpo, exploring where both deals currently stand, what it would take to get them over the line and whether new head coach Roberto De Zerbi will be able to land his primary attacking targets before the transfer deadline. Gakpo's situation in particular remains intriguing, with Liverpool understood to prefer keeping the forward unless a significant offer and suitable replacement can be found. Ben also runs through the other potential departures and possible late additions on Tottenham's radar, giving us the inside track on what could still be a frantic end to the summer window. We then turn our attention to Djed Spence and the growing speculation surrounding a potential move to Inter Milan. Is a reported £25M fee simply absurd given Spence's performances at the World Cup, his development and the potential he still possesses? With Destiny Udogie continuing to have his own fitness concerns while also being linked with a move to AS Roma, would Spurs really be wise to allow Spence to leave? We also discuss Cristian Romero's expected departure to Atlético Madrid and how Tottenham are navigating the impending exit of their captain, before examining the ongoing uncertainty surrounding Lucas Bergvall, whose future remains up in the air as we enter the final weeks of the window. Finally, we assess Spurs' search for attacking reinforcements. Savinho and Cody Gakpo remain the club's primary targets, but with Manchester City and Liverpool unwilling to sanction their departures until permanent replacements are secured, Tottenham may need to explore alternative options. Despite fresh denials, we discuss whether Folarin Balogun could be a striker Spurs should seriously consider following reports linking the club with a potential move for the Arsenal forward. John gives us the inside track on the young players Tottenham are currently developing, as we assess the winners and losers from the recent pre-season tour and identify the academy prospects worth keeping a particularly close eye on as the new campaign approaches. We debate whether Tottenham’s increasing focus on first-team development over academy progression represents a genuine concern for the long-term future of the club, before turning our attention back to the immediate issues facing Spurs. With attacking options currently looking a concern, we discuss what Tottenham Hotspur have to do in the remaining days of the window and examine the future of captain Cristian Romero, amid reports that he could be open to a move to bitter rivals Arsenal this summer. We also debate whether Lucas Bergvall could leave the club before the transfer deadline and whether Spurs would be making a major mistake by allowing Djed Spence to depart, with reports suggesting his representatives are exploring the possibility of a move to Manchester United. Finally, we assess the job Roberto De Zerbi’s has done to date and whether there is any genuine pressure on the Spurs head coach given the amount of money spent by the Club this summer, and look at what Tottenham can realistically achieve ahead of the upcoming season. But while the unbeaten run continues, the performance has raised some serious concerns — particularly over the lack of attacking options currently available to De Zerbi and how Spurs will be required to address in the final weeks of the transfer window being open. We also take a closer look at where Spurs stand in terms of potential outgoigs, with reports claiming Tottenham captain Cristian Romero is “very open” to a move across North London to bitter rivals Arsenal. What would his departure mean for Spurs, and how much truth is there behind the speculation? Elsewhere, we react to the worrying news that James Maddison has suffered a recurrence of his hip injury, while Dominic Solanke has become the latest Spurs forward linked with a move away from the club, with Nottingham Forest reportedly showing interest — despite the striker missing the recent Getafe game after feeling pain in his ankle. We also discuss Manor Solomon’s imminent move to West Ham United, while awaiting confirmation of Ashley Phillips’ departure and Mikey Moore’s expected loan move to FC Köln. Tottenham Hotspur as we know are exploring attacking reinforcements ahead of the new season, with Villarreal striker Georges Mikautadze emerging as one of the club’s leading transfer targets, we discuss whether he could be one of the potential answers to fix Spurs' blunt attacking forward line. We discuss Spurs' pursuit of Cody Gakpo, with direct talks taking place between both the clubs and the forward understood to be keen on the move happening. We also discuss the sensational developments surrounding club captain Cristian Romero following Arsenal's shock approach for the Argentine, while Romero himself is understood to still favour a move to Atletico Madrid. The conversation then turns to Tottenham's midfield, where Nottingham Forest have now pulled out of talks for Lucas Bergvall, leaving fresh questions over the Swedish international's immediate future in North London. We also assess the latest on Pape Matar Sarr, whose proposed move to Aston Villa has hit a stumbling block, with Villa reluctant to agree to Tottenham's preferred terms as Spurs continue to push for a permanent sale rather than a loan. Finally, we examine the dramatic twist in the future of Djed Spence. After concrete interest from Liverpool in recent days, the Reds now appear to be pursuing alternative targets, opening the door for Manchester United to emerge as a potential destination for the full-back, with Spence adamant he wants regular first-team football ahead of the new season. Forced to play almost the entire second half a man down after Kevin Danso was controversially sent off just moments after his introduction, we were indebted to Antonin Kinsky for a handful of incredible saves as we hung in there in front of more than 80,000 fans at the Accor Stadium on Australia’s east coast. We still carried a threat, Rio Kyerematen cracking a superb effort against the crossbar, but just as we seemed destined for a second penalty shootout in the space of four days, substitute Jamie Donley hit the post and Richarlison was on hand to slide home the rebound, making it a memorable conclusion to our trip Down Under for fans, players and staff alike. The game also saw Sandro Tonali net his first-ever goal in Spurs colours under Roberto De Zerbi. We also wrapped up the latest transfer news as we discussed whether Cody Gakpo is the Bomba, which Roberto De Zerbi is referring too, we debate the future's of both Cristian Romero, who De Zerbi says there will be a plan in place for his return to London, and whether Richarlison will stay at the club amid fresh doubt cast over his future. The Last Word On Spurs panel return to review our first club friendly of the upcoming campaign as Mateus Fernandes took just three minutes to light the touch paper of his Spurs career and our pre-season preparations as we beat MK Dons 1-0 at Hotspur Way on Wednesday evening. Lining up alongside fellow new arrival Sandro Tonali and Conor Gallagher in midfield, our summer capture from West Ham made his mark in superb style on his first appearance in Lilywhite. Mathys Tel swung in a corner, goalkeeper Craig MacGillivray punched high and clear only for Fernandes to thunder back a volley that pinged home off the inside of the post. It was a goal worthy of winning any game - in this case, it was enough to beat a well-organised, competitive MK side. The players will now fly out to Auckland, New Zealand for the the first part of our pre-season tour, taking on Auckland at Eden Park in the early hours of Sunday morning (4am UK). We also reflect on the sale of Will Lankshear to Middlesbrough, with Cristian Romero, Alfie Dorrington and Ashley Phillips expected to also leave the Club and whether our youngsters see a genuine pathway to the first-team.We also debate the news that James Maddison is set to be named the Captain of Tottenham Hotspur. Host Ricky Sacks is joined by an excitable panel as Tottenham are poised to break their transfer record after beating Manchester United to the signing of Mateus Fernandes for £85M. The Portugal international is heading for a new challenge after West Ham’s relegation from the Premier League and will strengthen Roberto De Zerbi’s options in central midfield. De Zerbi, who helped Tottenham to narrowly avoid relegation last season, has been handed significant funds this summer and also hopes to sign the Newcastle midfielder Sandro Tonali. Spurs have already been active in the market and have boosted their defence by signing Jan Paul van Hecke for £52m from Brighton and securing Marcos Senesi on a free transfer from Bournemouth. Fernandes, who is due to have a medical before signing his contract, will add more creativity to De Zerbi’s side. He joined West Ham from Southampton for £38m last summer and caught the eye with a string of impressive performances. He was targeted by United, Arsenal and Real Madrid but Tottenham are the only club willing to meet West Ham’s asking price. United felt the numbers were too high and are looking elsewhere for midfield additions. After a bright start to the transfer window for Tottenham, the Club are being faced with the prospect of selling one of Europe's top young talents in Luka Vuskovic to Brighton before he's even played a competitive game for the Club. While the club continues to monitor defensive targets, including Dutch international Jan Paul van Hecke, they must now decide whether Vušković is part of their immediate plans or whether a substantial profit on a player who has not yet featured for the first team is too good to refuse. With Brighton prepared to invest heavily, the battle for one of Croatian football's brightest prospects appears to be entering a crucial phase. The panel are back on Last Word On Spurs in another busy week around Hotspur Way as Tottenham have signed defender Marcos Senesi on a free transfer following his departure from Bournemouth. The 29-year-old will officially complete his move to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on 1 July, subject to international clearance. Senesi, capped three times by Argentina, decided to leave Bournemouth earlier in the season after rejecting three contract offers from the club. The centre-back - who has also just been included in Argentina's squad for this summer. We also reacted to the news that Tottenham have confirmed that Ben Davies has signed a new contract with the club, while Yves Bissouma is leaving as a free agent. Davies joined Spurs from Swansea City in 2014 and will now extend his stay in north London into a 13th season, having made 363 appearances for the club to date. Only 20 players have played more matches for Tottenham in their history, including Davies' former team-mates Heung-min Son, Hugo Lloris, Harry Kane and Eric Dier. Spurs did not confirm the length of Davies' new deal, but widespread reports on Wednesday said it was a one-year extension. As one player commits there future, one departs as but there was no new deal for Bissouma, who played the full 90 minutes in the Bilbao showpiece. Bissouma made 111 appearances for Spurs after arriving from Brighton in 2022, scoring two goals – both of which came in the Premier League in 2024-25. We reflect on the potential Bissouma had and why that quite never materialised during his time at Spurs. We close on Spurs' pursuit of both Jan Paul Van Hecke and Savinho and whether we feel both deals will eventually be completed. Daniel Levy was removed from his position as chairman after nearly 25 years in charge. Frank was spotted drinking from a coffee cup that had Arsenal’s badge on it. Frank ended up being sacked the following month and replaced by Igor Tudor, who lasted only 44 days before Roberto De Zerbi took over. Spurs only won three games at home and suffered 17 defeats in total and as De Zerbi secured Tottenham's great escape on the final day of the Premier League season. Matt also brings us up to date on Spurs' pursuit of Savinho, where the Club are at in relation to to their pursuit of Jan Paul Van Hecke and also why reported interest in Manchester United for Cristian Romero, could be a good move for all parties. For further details go to https://saily.com/lwos On this edition of the show we return to discuss Tottenham Hotspur making an offer to sign defender Jan Paul van Hecke from Brighton & Hove Albion. The proposal for the 25-year-old fell short of Brighton’s valuation, but talks continue and as a direct result of how serious the bid was, a transfer could be finalised before the World Cup with the player keen on the move. Barring any late disasters, free transfers for left-back Andy Robertson and left-sided centre-back Marcos Senesi are expected to be pushed through to be announced after the Premier League transfer window opens on June 15. Both players currently have contracts with Liverpool and Bournemouth respectively until the end of this month. Spurs are getting two ball-playing defenders, the numbers back that up. Senesi and Van Hecke are a level above Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven in terms of passing ability, we discuss where that leaves Spurs other defenders and who are vulnerable to a summer move. Romero's future looks increasingly like being spent away from the club next season once the World Cup is done, with the expectation since January that he would leave, we discuss if we are all ready to see the captain depart. We also discuss Spurs' ongoing pursuit of Savinho, with Tottenham considering making an offer, however no direct approach to Man City has yet been made one could come in the next few days. Tottenham also want a central midfielder who can pass from deep, and are among the clubs who like Hayden Hackney, but it's believed that Roberto De Zerbi has put forward Bruno Guimarães to Tottenham Hotspur and he is viewed as a dream target; however a deal would be tough to do, we reflect on whether that would truly show the ambition of the football club. We close on what would be logical window in terms of what Spurs need to rebuild with Roberto De Zerbi only having to navigate one-game-a-week without any European commitments.
