Thu, 29 Oct 2026 - 273 - The Autumn Edit
As the seasons change, so do our needs. In this episode, we are talking about moving into autumn — sober, resourced and with a little more intention. The darker evenings, changing routines and shift in energy can affect our mood, nervous system and sobriety. Rather than pushing through or expecting ourselves to operate exactly as we did in summer, autumn can be an invitation to pause and ask: what do I actually need now? We share some of the things I’m thinking about as we move into the darker half of the year, including: The Autumn Edit Journaling prompts — what can you stop, simplify, postpone or let go of? Sober-proofing the darker evenings — noticing the times, places and feelings that might make alcohol seem appealing and creating new rituals around them. Building your autumn resource list — the people, practices, places and small pleasures that help you feel grounded and well. 🍂 Supporting your mental health and nervous system as daylight reduces and our natural energy begins to shift. Creating an autumn that has space for rest, connection, movement, nourishment and pleasure — rather than simply adding more things to the list. Sobriety isn’t just about taking alcohol away. It’s about learning how to support ourselves through the changing seasons of our lives. The questions for autumn: What can I edit? What will resource me?And what do I want to make room for this season? 🎧 Grab a cuppa, pull on a jumper and join us for an autumn reset. Sun, 04 Oct 2026 - 272 - Midlife Alchemy: Liminal Spaces, Sobriety & the End-of-Summer Funk
In this episode of the Love Sober Podcast, Kate and Helen unpack that end-of-summer exhaustion and the strange, wobbly transition into autumn. They explore liminal spaces – the in‑between times when we’ve outgrown an old version of ourselves but aren’t yet anchored in the new – and how this shows up in midlife, sobriety, grief, and the changing seasons. Kate shares the inspiration behind her new program Midlife Alchemy (starts September 21st 2026) , created for sober and sober‑curious midlife women who are navigating hormones, identity shifts, and life’s big rites of passage. They talk about why rest is radical, how nervous system literacy can be a superpower, and the magic of women’s circles as trauma‑informed, neuro‑inclusive spaces for support and growth. If you’re feeling tired, and wondering how to tend your nervous system instead of pouring a drink, this conversation offers compassion, practical tools, and a little midlife magic. Sun, 07 Jun 2026 - 269 - Victoria Vanstone on Drinking Culture, Motherhood & Midlife
In this episode of Love Sober Podcast, Kate talks with Victoria Vanstone, founder of Sober Awkward, writer, podcaster and author of A Thousand Wasted Sundays. Victoria shares her journey from Reading pub culture and wild backpacking years (including blowing off part of her finger with a firework) through motherhood, anxiety and the moment she realised she could “step off the roundabout” and choose a sober life. Kate and Victoria explore people‑pleasing, self‑abandonment, ADHD and rejection sensitivity, perimenopause and midlife rage, and how sobriety becomes a messy, beautiful “welcome mat” back home to yourself. Growing up in Reading pub culture, wild backpacking years and a Millennium firework accident that blew off part of her finger – Victoria Vanstone always wore chaos as a badge of honour. Motherhood, anxiety and Sunday shame finally brought her to a quiet rock bottom: “I just can’t f*cking do this anymore.” We talk about people‑pleasing, self‑abandonment, ADHD and rejection sensitivity, perimenopause, and why sobriety is the most interesting thing she’s ever done. Plus: social pivots in midlife, sober retreats in Thailand, the chicken dance, and rediscovering childlike joy without alcohol. Sat, 23 May 2026 - 268 - Kintsugi for the Sober Journey: Embracing Imperfection & Healing
What if the cracks aren’t something to hide? In this episode of the Love Sober Podcast, we explore the Japanese art of kintsugi — the practice of repairing broken pottery with gold — as a powerful metaphor for the sober journey, midlife healing, and self-compassion. Together, we work with a kintsugi kit and reflect on the principles of imperfection, impermanence, and incompleteness. We talk honestly about what happens when life doesn’t go to plan, when coping mechanisms stop working, and how recovery asks us to show up gently, consistently, and truthfully — one day at a time. Rather than striving for perfection or a “fixed” version of ourselves, this conversation explores the possibility that healing might actually deepen us. That the places we’ve cracked open can become places of wisdom, softness, creativity, and connection. In this episode we explore: What kintsugi teaches us about sobriety and recovery The emotional weight of perfectionism in midlife Why self-compassion matters more than self-criticism Impermanence, nervous systems, and learning to stay present How alcohol-free living creates space for repair and reconnection The beauty of becoming whole — not flawless Small daily practices that help us keep showing up for ourselves This is a gentle, reflective conversation for anyone navigating sobriety, burnout, perimenopause, emotional healing, or simply the messy beauty of being human. You do not have to become perfect to begin again. Journal Prompt Where in your life are you being invited to soften rather than fix? Mentioned in this episode Kintsugi: the Japanese art of repairing pottery with gold Self-compassion in recovery Nervous system regulation and embodied healing Midlife sobriety and identity shifts If this episode resonated, share it with a friend or leave a review — it helps more women find the conversation. Sun, 10 May 2026 - 267 - Guest Interview with Kate Codrington - Midlife & Second Spring.
Podcast notes: Kate Codrington on Second Spring, menopause, rest and elderhood In this episode I speak with the wonderful Kate Codrington about menopause as a powerful life transition rather than a “decline”. We explore the idea of Second Spring, the seasonal map of midlife, sobriety, rest, grief, nervous system repair, women’s circles, and the emerging path into elderhood. Main themes Menopause as a transition, not a declineKate challenges the cultural story that menopause is a downward slope, reframing it as a sensitive, powerful transition into a more authentic self.Drawing on Chinese medicine and menstrual cycle awareness, Kate explains post-menopause as a renewed spring: a time of clearer energy, deeper wisdom and a new relationship with self. The end of people-pleasingWe talk about oestrogen, belonging, fawning, niceness and the “good daughter of the patriarchy” — and why menopause can bring rage, clarity and a glorious reduction in giving a fuck. Sobriety and menopause as awakeningsBoth sobriety and menopause ask us to stop numbing, stop performing and begin listening to what is actually true. Rest as deep medicineKate shares how yoga nidra and a simple 15-minute daily stop became part of her own healing. We talk about rest not as another self-care task, but as a way of softening the nervous system over time. The foundations matterSleep, hydration, nourishing food, less alcohol, pleasure, movement, connection and nervous system care are not glamorous quick fixes, but they are the real work. Grief, loss and the seasonsWe explore autumn and winter as maps for grief, shedding and endings — and how grief can deepen our commitment to life.Midlife often brings both a fierce need for solitude and a longing for women’s community. We talk about the shadow and healing of returning to circle. Elderhood and contributionKate speaks beautifully about elderhood as authenticity, discernment, alignment, contribution and modelling another way of living — not necessarily loud leadership, but quiet wisdom. Mentioned in this episode Kate Codrington’s books:Second Spring: The Self-Care Guide to MenopauseThe Perimenopause Journal Kate’s podcast:Life — An Inside Job FIND KATE AT https://www.katecodrington.co.uk/ Love Sober note If this conversation speaks to where you are, my six-week group programme Love Your Sober Summer begins on 21 June. Sun, 26 Apr 2026 - 266 - Tiny Joy for When Life Feels Like a Lot
Episode 1: Tiny Joy for When Life Feels F***edwith Kate Baily and guest host Helen Lees Welcome back to the Love Sober Podcast — the podcast for the sober and sober curious. In this first episode of the new season, Kate is joined by new guest host Helen Lees for a heartfelt conversation about tiny joy — those small, sensory, grounding moments that can help us through grief, overwhelm, cravings, stress, and the sheer weight of life. Together, Kate and Helen explore how alcohol can disconnect us from real pleasure and presence, and how sobriety helps us gently rebuild a toolkit of comfort, connection and self-resourcing. They talk about grief, motherhood, nervous system care, sensory rituals, dopamine, play, cravings, and the surprising power of tiny things — from soft clothes and candles to pesto, poached eggs, cold water, dogs, lipstick and woodland light. This is an honest, compassionate conversation about finding anchors in difficult times, and learning how to stay in the solution, one small moment at a time. In this episode, we explore: What “tiny joy” means in sober life Why small comforts matter in grief, stress and early sobriety How alcohol promises relief but disconnects us from real joy Building a sober toolkit for cravings and emotional overwhelm Sensory interventions and micro-pleasures that help regulate the nervous system Play, ritual, nature and self-parenting in recovery Why sobriety is about what we add in, not just what we remove Mentioned in this episode: The Embodied Queen Retreat with Rachel Brady and Cybele Botran Love Sober Life School — our 12-week spring/summer programme for sober and sober curious women Reflection questions from this episode: What does tiny joy mean to you personally? Tue, 06 Jun 2023 - 249 - Love Sober Podcast Guest Laura McKowen - Push off From Here
In this episode I talk to bestselling author of We Are the Luckiest and founder of the international recovery community The Luckiest Club Laura McKowen about her new book Push off From Here. The stories and advice McKowen shares are specific to alcohol addiction, but the tenets are universal in their application and useful no matter what challenge you face. With profound honesty and boundless compassion, Push Off from Here provides an actionable framework for healing what pains us and proves that a life of sobriety can be synonymous with a life of magic, peace, and freedom. When Laura McKowen was two years sober, she received an email from a woman whose sister was struggling with alcohol addiction. McKowen had barely climbed out from the dark place the woman’s sister was in, but she made a list of the things she most needed to hear when she was deep in her own battle. No matter how far astray you’ve gone or how many times you’ve tried and failed before, as long as you’re still sitting here, breathing, and reading these words, freedom and joy are still possible. In this episode we explore her Nine Truths.1. It is not your fault. 2. It is your responsibility.3. It is unfair that this is your thing.4. This is your thing.5. This will never stop being your thing until you face it.6. You cannot do it alone.7. Only you can do it.8. You are loved.9. We will never stop reminding you of these things. In Push Off from Here, McKowen delves deeply into each of her nine points: what they mean, how they work, and how every person can live them. She addresses topics such as the correlation between trauma and addiction, the importance of radical honesty, letting go of the illusion of control, the value of community, a reminder that healing is a continual process, and that the process is a gift. Whether you’re just starting out or have been sober for decades, McKowen instructs us to be kind to ourselves: Change is messy and progress is rarely linear, but we can always push off from here. It's a gem so grab a cuppa and let's chat. Love Kate x Buy the book: Connect with Laura at The Luckiest Club
Fri, 10 Mar 2023 - 248 - Love Sober Podcast Episode 190 Sober Toolkit - Hope
In this episode I look at the subject of hope and how to practically cultivate a hope practice. "an optimistic mindset based on the expectation of positive outcomes.'' It's one of those tools that can be a bit overlooked, easily mistaken for a lofty virtue or a whimsical fancy or naivety but it is in fact a badass resilience tool. In this episode I am taking the chapter from our book Love Your Sober Year and delving into hope and actionable steps to cultivate hope and why it's such an important part of the sober toolkit. As I always say, mental health tools, are life tools, are sober tools. In the words of my first and most enduring girl crush, the wonderful Kate Bush in Cloudbusting, ' Oooooh... I just know that something good is gonna happen, and just saying it could even make it happen...' YEAH BABY. 'Love Your Sober Year' is a seasonal guide to sustainable alcohol free living. It starts in Spring so it's the perfect time to grab your copy and start or continue your holistic sober journey. And a wee favour - If you liked the book please could you leave a review on Amazon? It really helps. Thanks so much x So grab a cuppa and let's chat. Love Kate xxx
Fri, 03 Mar 2023 - 247 - Love Sober Podcast 189 - Guest Tribe Sober Janet Gourand
In this episode I chat with Janet Gourand, founder of Tribe Sober, an international membership program which connects and supports people wanting to quit alcohol and then go on to learn how to thrive in their sobriety. Now 71, Janet got sober in her 60s and is a true inspiration showing just how choosing an alcohol free life later on in our lives can be done, happy, fulfilling and rewarding - by reframing and by reclaiming our lives and choices as women, we can boss this sober game, the getting older game and call BS on the limiting cultural narratives of both that we are quite frankly, OVER. Janet has had many years of experience of corporate life in both Europe and South Africa. When she decided to stop drinking alcohol, she could find very little available support in South Africa. Janet got sober by her own efforts and by attending a workshop in London. As her journey continued, she decided to use her professional background in training and development to design and facilitate her own Tribe Sober workshop in order to help others to do what she had done. She is married with one son and a chihuahua called June. Originally from London Janet relocated to Cape Town in 2001. Website is tribesober.com and all social media and weekly podcast is "Tribe Sober"

This week on the podcast Mandy speaks with Michael @happywithoutthehooch It was a real pleasure to talk to Michael and for him to share his incredible journey to sobriety. It shows us all that there is possibility and we do recover and how comedy, community and connection can provide the tools to a life without alcohol. There is talk of overdose and suicidal ideation and attempt in this conversation. So please do make sure you are in the right space to listen, it is also a conversation of hope, survival and recovery which is really inspiring. Michael Sargood is 39 years old and from Southend-on-Sea in the UK and is over one year sober. At the depths of his alcohol addiction, he was drinking up to a litre of neat vodka per night and was diagnosed as being alcohol dependent. Despite this, he managed to hold down a good job until the last few months of his addiction. He decided to quit alcohol in March 2020 and went to live with his parents for the first three months of his recovery. He was sober seven months before relapsing in October 2020. That "one" drink lasted four months and saw him placed under the care of the local mental health team. On the 17th of February 2021, after losing over 24 hours to blackout, He went sober again. That was the last time he drank. This time round, He is trying to recover differently. Instead of just "subtracting" substances, people and places, he is focussing on adding things to his life: new friends, interests and ambitions. He has taken up comedy and recently started performing. He runs alcohol-free social events in his local area and is on a mission to meet IRL with other sober people he's connected with on Instagram. "Life has never been so good for me and I want to help others who are struggling with alcohol and substance abuse discover the joy of sobriety." He says. Michael is off to Scotland with @welovelucid 20th - 23rd of Scotland - so if you're up for some laughter, connection and bagpipes don't miss out! Grab a cuppa and let's chat. Love M & K xx

In this episode we continue to assemble and refine the advent toolkit - we look at managing energy and staying balanced through 'Wintering' - which is respecting that deep need to rest and restore, do less and why it's so, so important for our sobriety and wellbeing. We also discuss approaching this through self compassion - modelling that to our kids rather that this hyper perfectionism which feels so stressful and actually stops us being present - which is that greatest gift we can give them - and ourselves. Fri, 06 Dec 2019 - 215 - Love Sober Podcast 56 Guest:Paula Williams 22/10/19
This week on the pod we’re absolutely delighted to talk to Paula Williams about @shamebooth this is pretty special for Mandy as going into the Shamebooth really REALLY enabled her to move past her shame and what was keeping her stuck. A game changer for her recovery journey. The visual style, the concept and energy behind Paula’s work completely lights us up. It’s vital and it’s important. Paula is a self proclaimed stirrer of the pot. An artist, An interventionist, activist, feminist, freedom and equality fighter and a proud woman in recovery. AKA Badass shero! What started as an idea to outfit a phone booth with a classic phone and invite people to record the things they are ashamed of has developed into a movement, with a booth that travels, a podcast, a website and more.A graduate from The Art Institute of Chicago, Paula believes secrecy and judgment are what make shame thrive. She created the Shamebooth to bring people’s shame stories out into the open, meet them with empathy, and banish shame for good. The project has developed beyond all expectations, with the booth moving from location to location, Pride to Sunday Streets, and people sharing their stories and emerging from the booth freer. With the light spirit of Paula and the Shame Dames, SHAMEBOOTH is both deep and irreverent, powerful and playful.Paula’s desire to help others evolved as the result of years of self medicating with booze and pills, and a history of mental health issues, which has led Paula to recovery. This experience has radically shifted her perspective towards others who are suffering and are full of shame, terrified to ask for help. Today, she is grateful to be in a position to give back.Paula is working with SF-based SOUND MADE PUBLIC to bring the project to life and gives special thanks to her dream coach Rhetta Rowland. This week on the pod we discuss clean language. The language we use in Sobriety has been a focus on the podcast from the beginning and it's interesting and validating to see the shift away from negative, shaming and disempowering language to the language we value words that light us up and empower us. It's an important subject not just for professionals and services to change, but also for us to use more compassionate language with ourselves and be mindful of negative metaphors. Fri, 08 Nov 2019 - 212 - Love Sober Podcast 53 Conversations 1/11/19
This week on the pod we discuss what to say to people about stopping drinking. Something that should be relatively simple often ties us in knots, we leave ourselves vulnerable because it’s actually a bit of a skill to know what to say. So we discuss this, who to share our truth with and who to build a smokescreen against. We discuss some of our own experiences and how you can use different techniques within your expanding social circle. We talk boundaries and saying no and using a bit of humour to get you through the tricky spots, it does get easier when you can recognise who you’re talking to. Fri, 25 Oct 2019 - 210 - Love Sober Podcast 51 Sobercurious 18/10/19
In this episode we take a moment to re-affirm our core values and beliefs at Love Sober. We explain why we have included #sobercurious in our intro from the beginning, which was before it became a buzzword. For us it means an exploration into getting sober and how to do that i.e. curious about sobriety. A recent press article in Patch stated The "sober curious" movement, also known as "sober sometimes," and that is something we one hundred percent do not advocate, we have stated before and felt it important to state again that “mindful” drinking, moderation or sober sometimes is not a solution for people with a problematic relationship with alcohol, it is what keeps people stuck and drinking. We believe in early intervention, being sober curious for us is being given permission to go alcohol free before a situation of maladaptive behaviour with alcohol/self-medicating or binge drinking can slide over the line into dependence, having the conversation early before the choices you have become increasingly limited. We go through the questions to recognise Alcohol Use Disorder, and our firm belief in building community, support and conversation around problems with alcohol and the need to keep shifting the conversation away from the binary black and white model of you either are or you aren’t an alcoholic, to talking about a spectrum or grey area and how we can get sober and thrive and love a life without alcohol. We are absolutely delighted to chat with our lovely friend @london_artist1 Sharon Walters, Sharon is our cohost at the Love Sober Create & Thrive workshop in London Bridge 19th October - we have only a few tix left (link in my bio)Sharon is a west-London based artist who has been sober for 9 months and is a Mother of 2 and is very inspiring. She came to sobriety for health and wellness reasons and her decision to quit the booze has skyrocketed her creativity and energy and she hasn’t looked back since.Sharon has led a number of collage workshops and is an experienced artist educator of over 20 years. After graduating with a second degree, this time in Fine Art from Central St Martins in London in 2011, she has developed her practice and continued her work with community arts organisations and museums. Both her art practice and work in the heritage sector aims to provide platforms for those under-represented in the mainstream. Her current series ‘Seeing Ourselves’ explores identity, beauty standards and race through hand assembled collage. Using magazines and photographs she is inspired by botanical, natural beauty and urban scenes and the beauty of natural afro hair. Her use of simple source materials, a craft scalpel and quite often an A4 cutting mat means you too can continue this craft from the comfort of your own home. Each collage is a reaffirmation of the right to ‘take up space’ even when you don’t see yourself. Fri, 06 Sep 2019 - 203 - Love Sober Podcast 44 Planning 1/07/19
This is the last pod until the period of school closure (holiday, is it tho?) so we chat through some strategies to think about. Seeking out collective joy, making a plan, taking the pressure off, putting down the beast of comparisonitis which is Social Media and making room for much needed self care. This period can be particularly difficult and having a daily check in email and motivation can really help which is why Kate created the 30 day essential Toolkit which £30 - a £1 a day! https://www.lovesober.com/essential-toolkit/ We also mentioned that you can be a Love Sober Patron/Matron ooooo Matron here https://liberapay.com/LoveSober up until now, the website, group and podcast hosting and editing has been self-funded by us, so any donation is greatly received. We have some amazing guests, plans and workshops planned from September so until then stay sAFe thanks so much for listening, your lovely messages and your support. Fri, 12 Jul 2019 - 202 - Love Sober Podcast 43 Boundaries 05/07/19
This week on the pod we talk boundaries. We have come to the conclusion that this is THE KEY to managing stress, overwhelm and then reaching for the f*** it button with a glass of wine. So how do we say no? How do we protect ourselves from burnout in this modern world? - It’s not easy, for many of us it’s challenging a lifetime of people pleasing. Combined for us being “modern mother’s” we have been given a seat at the table in a professional sense yet the infrastructure and support for women to be able to have a career & be a parent is still far from being equal, it won’t be will it until women actually head up companies rather than still banging on that glass ceiling - So what this means is we are micro managing our lives, we have adapted careers around motherhood, we are on the brink of burnout constantly, with the emotional baggage of “shoulds” So being able to reassess what we have put on our plate is essential - asking ourselves the uncomfortable question am I being a martyr here or is this necessary? What are my needs? What has to be done, what can wait? Believing that real friends don’t mind when you cancel, moving away from the drama triangle and applying our oxygen 😷 masks first are all tools we can learn. Join us for a cuppa and a chat as we try to get to grips with where we are at with boundaries. An essential skill to keeping sane and sober. In this Episode we were delighted to chat with Penni, our sobersister down under based in Sydney and creator of the Facebook community Recovery Buddha. Mandy met Penni initially by chance at #sherecoversla and was immediately in love with her joy, spirit and sense of badassery. She jumped in the Beverly Hilton’s pool with Brandy @soberasshit and Paula @shamebooth in full Gala attire - if it’s good enough for Angelina Jolie at the Golden Globes, it’s good enough for awesome women celebrating sobriety 🙌. Penni is a Clinical Psychologist, Recovery Hero and Mama to three kids her youngest daughter who has ASD (Autism). We really wanted to share the conversation with Penni for parents who have children with special behavioral needs. It’s something close to so many women we know. We get abit emosh - life is tough, we are warriors and sobriety is our anchor, but this is one of the many huge challenges many people are facing. Fri, 24 May 2019 - 196 - Love Sober Podcast 37 Guest: Sober Lioness 17/05/2019
Alcohol and Mental health We were greatly honoured to have our friend Laura @thesoberlioness on the pod to talk mental health and alcohol. Laura is an absolute warrior, shero and galpal. Sobriety in her own words "Is the gift that keeps on giving, which changed my life!" Laura, Kate and I’s mental health has dramatically improved by stopping drinking, and as importantly our mental health was significantly worsened by drinking alcohol. So it is one of the most important and vital conversations to be had in sobriety. Also It’s one year since our first pod episode. What a year of ups and downs it’s been. To quote Frank (sort of) "We’ve loved, we’ve laughed and cried. We’ve had our fill, our share of losing. And now as tears subside, we find it so amusing. To think we did all that, and may we say, not in a shy way, oh, no, oh, no, not us, we did it the love sober waaaaay" We are so so grateful for everything the pod has brought us, friendship, support and pride. Thank so much for all the messages we have received. We have ALOT of exciting projects to come... This week on the pod we talk slips, blips, going back to drinking and or relapse. These are highly emotive terms, so we chat our experiences on this subject and the experiences we have had. Whatever day you’re on, however many times you’ve tested your limits and boundaries around alcohol, be proud of yourself for dusting yourself off and starting again, read another book, dig a little deeper and work the hardest at forgiving yourself, making yourself your own best friend because one day alcohol won’t be something you miss or want it will be something you won’t want anywhere near your precious self. This week on the Love Sober Podcast Mandy talked with Jolene Park. Jolene Park is a great friend of ours and hugely knowledgeable on holistic health. Her TEDx talk introduced to us the notion of “Grey Area” drinkers and the NOURISH acronym has been hugely helpful in our understanding of our own relationship with alcohol. Jolene is over in Europe facilitating workshops including our first event. Fri, 22 Mar 2019 - 188 - Love Sober Podcast 30 Hidden Triggers 15/03/19
Things have been tricky #understatement for team Love Sober so we have approached this episode to try to have some light relief whilst dealing with the subject of hidden triggers. When is it for you that the Wine witch pops her evil head when you least expect it? Is it on a cooking program or a sunny café terrace? Fri, 15 Feb 2019 - 185 - Love Sober Podcast 25 Fading Affect Bias 31/01/2019
This week on pod we talk amongst other things FAB, Fading Affect Bias - the phenomenon in which we tend to forget bad associations with events rather than good. ie rose tinted glass or in recovery language euphoric recall. This is massively effected by your mental health state so if you're depressed you focus on the negative... FAB is a common trigger in sobriety, from being caught in how bad alcohol is making you feel (your move away goal) you start to feel better physically and mentally and those messages of "it wasnt that bad" or "I can moderate" or romanticism about positive alcohol experiences. So if you're coming to the end of DryJan - think of your why? Really connected with all experiences with alcohol - is it really that great? Join us on the pod for some strategies to combat this not so FAB challenge to your sobriety XX If you would like to support the podcast you can via https://www.patreon.com/join/lovesoberpod You can join us via links below: https://www.lovesober.com https://www.lovesober.com/community-1https://www.lovesober.com/courseshttps://www.the-coaching-academy.com/cart/index.asp?uid=1603813594565 #reasonstolovesober #lovesoberpodcast #lovesober #loveyourselfsober #sober #soberlife #hangoverfree #sobriety #recoverycoach #sobermovement #sobercurious #alcoholfree #recovery #sherecovers #sobercoach #greyareadrinking #grayareadrinking #mentalhealth #motherhood #wineoclock #sobermums #selfcare #womeninrecovery #sobercommunity

Thu, 01 Nov 2018 - 175 - Love Sober Podcast 15 Guest:Lucy Rocca 25/10/2018
In this episode we had the great delight to talk with Lucy Rocca - Founder of Soberistas. Lucy has written four books on sobriety, helped thousands of people (including us) on their journey into living a happy, healthy alcohol free life. Lucy gave up drinking seven years ago and felt there was a huge lack of support for people like her, the idea behind Soberistas was to create "a Mumsnet for worried binge drinkers" Not using prescriptive language of alcoholism/alcoholic/addiction but for people to be able to share their concerns, their problems and help each other giving up alcohol. The formula has proved hugely successful and since launching the site in 2012 there are now 52,000 registered members worldwide. In Lucy's words "You've got to create a life you love." that being alcohol free isn't giving up anything, but the best decision you could ever make for yourself. Thanks so much to Lucy for her time, energy and continued sober activism. She really was one of the trailblazer's of the modern Sober Revolution movement and continues to be a vital advocate for sober living. And thanks personally from us, when we think of how life would be for us without Soberistas it doesn't bare thinking about. Much Love K & M. Thu, 25 Oct 2018 - 174 - Love Sober Podcast 14 Marketing of Alcohol 18/10/2018
The marketing of Alcohol. This is quite the subject. Something that really we have both become interested in and acutely aware of now we don't drink. Let's chat about this for two reasons because: A) It's a question of ethics. How honest/How well regulated are these industries? Are they giving responsible messages around alcohol? B) Let's take some of the shame/blame off us for a moment - what's the expression? "You can lead a horse to water, but you can't make them drink." Yes we are ultimately responsible for the choices we make, but let's talk about the context for those decisions. How easy is it to make an informed choice about alcohol when your whole life you have been told openly and subliminally that drinking alcohol is the ONLY normal choice. Then we talk revolution...
