  • 152 - Ep 5. The Power of Simple

It's easy to get lost in complexity as a purpose-driven entrepreneur trying to solve a problem and make an impact. But simplicity is actually the key to reaching your goals. In this podcast episode, I delve into why simplicity is more strategic for your business and for your customers—it's where financial sustainability and impact reside.

Here's why simple is more strategic:
At the heart of every successful business are a couple of fundamental building blocks: Core Messaging and a Working Sales Funnel. Every single product/service you offer needs these building blocks in place.

I always say: "Every offer is a business."

This means that each product/service or "offer" you sell is its own mini business, and it requires its own core messaging, sales funnel, and operation.

So, you can imagine how difficult it is to start or scale up two or three products/services simultaneously. It's like trying to grow two or three complex businesses at a time. This is only possible with a large budget and well-established and managed team that has already validated its first core offer, messaging, sales funnel, and operation.

For social impact startups, constraining to just one offer, your core messaging, and 1-2 sales funnels are critical. This will require that you let many things fall away that you would like to have in place (like a podcast, a social media presence, or "thought leadership.)

It requires decision-making and constraining even when it's hard.

Simplicity has another strategic effect. It calms your nervous system, which sharpens your problem-solving abilities. By streamlining your focus, your brain will naturally be better at evaluating and taking action to hone your messaging and sales funnels.

Your founder brain truly works more effectively when it's leaning toward simplicity. Remember, when in doubt, simplify. Simple is not just better—it's strategic.

Tune into the full episode for more insights into using the power of simplicity inside your sustainable business.

  • 151 - Ep 4. Decision-Making: How to Navigate Your Business Well

Improving decision-making will help you cut your to-do list in half while increasing your income as a purpose-driven entrepreneur.

Unfortunately, accelerator programs and the entrepreneurial ecosystem are not teaching founders this fundamental CEO Skill Set. That's why we help founders form solid decision-making skills here at The Do Business Better School.

Remember, your business is essentially a series of choices. And indecision is the death of your business.

If you're seeking a different outcome in your business, the best next step is to decide on, commit to, plan, and follow through on your new course of action.

In this episode, I discuss the three decision-making steps and how to filter unnecessary decisions from necessary ones.

Founders often spend a lot of time contemplating the right way to do something when it's actually unnecessary to reach their goal. Worse, this distracts them from the true needle movers.

If you are a purpose-driven founder and you find yourself in any of these scenarios, this is a must-listen.

In your head, thinking about the best way to do something

Second-guessing your niche, messaging, marketing, model or anything else

Getting frustrated in your business trying to get things working.

This episode is also beneficial if you have a big goal to scale up your income because making intelligent decisions will be a part of that process.

    In this episode, you'll learn:
    > The 3 steps of decision-making
    > How to filter unnecessary decisions from necessary ones
    > How to make confident, simple, and more strategic decisions

  • 150 - Ep 3. The Death of the Long- Line Philosophy: Linear Versus Cyclical Thinking

In the fast-paced world of entrepreneurship, how you approach problem-solving and strategizing as a founder is everything.

The problem is that most humans are wired to think linearly.

Linear thinking is the death of your business.

Linear thinking focuses on where you are now, the gap between, and the end result you want. The mental gap, creates a chain reaction in your brain, making you less effective at reaching the goal.

The gap also makes you stressed.

Embracing a cyclical mindset empowers you to see your founder's journey as a perpetual process of growth. There's no endpoint labeled 'more successful' or 'happier'. You're constantly learning, evolving, and overcoming non-threatening obstacles. This perspective not only brings a sense of calm but also propels you forward, accelerating your progress.

Cyclical thinking calms you down, but it doesn't slow you down. It actually speeds you up. Because you stop focusing on putting out fires, getting frustrated at challenges, and overworking to reach your goal.

You develop the capacity to ride the emotional waves, stay patient, evaluate objectively, and test and tweak repeatedly.

In this episode, I will introduce you to The Entrepreneurial Cycle Tool, which I've developed for the founders I work with at The Do Business Better School.

By following the 4 steps of the Entre-Cycle, founders gain a clear focus on what to prioritize and when. They achieve goals faster and with less stress.

This episode is full of foundational founder topics you might have heard before (like the Lean StartUp Methodology and others) but teaches them in a fresh way that will help you audit yourself as a founder and CEO and pave the way for sustainable business growth and personal well-being.

Dive in with me if you are ready to become a more effective purpose-driven founder and CEO with the income, impact, personal life and wellbeing you desire.

    In this episode, you'll learn:
    > The difference between linear and cyclical thinking for founders
    > The symptoms of getting caught in a linear mindset
    > How to form a cyclical mindset
    > The 4-steps of The Do Business Better School’s Entrepreneurial Cycle

  • 149 - Ep 2. The Strategy Versus Mindset Dilemma

In today's fast-paced entrepreneurial landscape, "strategy" and "mindset" often mean two distinct approaches. You are either focused on actionable tactics OR ethereal thoughts and feelings. However, this is an ineffective way to approach business, sports, and life!

Here's the thing: what you think and feel profoundly impacts your actions.

So, how you think and feel will have effects when you:
    > make decisions about your strategies
    > set an action plan
    > implement
    > evaluate

This is why you cannot separate mindset from strategy. Your mindset always has effects, even if you are unaware.

Tune into this episode to learn how to blend strategy and mindset so you get better results in your business.

I'll also explain more about the type of mindset we teach at The Do Business Better School, which is not based on manifestation, Eastern religious concepts, or other woo-woo practices. Instead, we teach neuroscience mindset tools that are accessible to everyone.

    In this episode, you'll learn:
    > How accelerators and incubators teach strategy and mindset, and why this is hurting your results
    > How your mindset affects your strategy and vice versa
    > Why I don't teach manifestation
    > An introduction to neuroscience mindset tools
