  • 10 - 10. Dr. Angela Young on the Cam Beaudoin Show

This week's episode is a bit different -- I had the opportunity to appear on Cam Beaudoin's weekly show where we talked about Making the Invisible VISIBLE through Accessibility and our work in the Invisible Disability Community!

Every week, Cam hosts a live LinkedIn show on Fridays at Noon EST.

Cam Beaudoin is an Accessibility Expert. His mission is to "recalibrate the diversity inclusion revolution" by bringing visibility to issues faced by the disability and neurodiverse communities on a regular basis.

This was a GREAT conversation and we had so much fun recording it!! Enjoy!

  • 9 - 9. Accessibility is NOT a Curse Word

Whoever called invisible disabilities “invisible” was REALLY perceptive. They ARE invisible. Literally and figuratively. Accessibility is easier to understand when the need is visible and tangible -- you can see that someone is blind if they're using a cane, for example. You can see when someone requires the use of a wheelchair or motorized scooter. With invisible disabilities, it is more difficult to champion for our own needs when we have to explain why we are disabled even though we don't "look it."

Accessibility is a scary arena for many organizations when the needs aren't so cut and dry.

    It doesn't have to be!!

In this episode, we talk about why accessibility can benefit EVERYONE.

  • 8 - 8. Nik Unterkircher: A Call to Lead

In this episode, we have our first RemeDEI™️ Podcast guest, Nik Unterkircher!! Nik is a lifelong learner and a champion for DEI. Fueled by a background in film and digital learning design, coupled with a passion for authenticity, he believes all people have a story to share. He advocates for increased visibility and representation for under-served communities and marginalized people in digital learning, and as a transmale, who has received gender-affirming care, he is also on a continued mission to increase access to medical care and awareness for gender-diverse persons.  Nik offers a unique perspective and a call to leadership within organizations on diversity & inclusion considerations. If you're not in a leadership position, Nik's words will become your blueprint as you identify effective diversity leadership in your next great role, or utilize Nik's perspective to propose diversity programming within your organization! --------------------- CONNECT WITH DR. • 7 - 7. How Big is Your Table?

How did I respond when someone told me that no one in the DEI space will listen to a white woman with an advanced degree?? Find out on this episode! The truth is, diversity affects everyone because at some point, everyone will find themselves within a marginalized community even if it is only aging. Therefore, understanding DEI is important to everyone.

  • 6 - 6. Home Is Where the Diversity Is

Differently-abled humans are in crisis here at home, and in Ukraine as they are unable to escape persecution. We need people who are willing to stand up and make a change. In this episode, you can use curiosity to your benefit as you ask questions and learn more about what you need at home and at work. In this episode, I talk specifically about an organization in Ukraine for differently-abled children called З теплом у серці or "With Warmth in the Heart." You can donate or follow their progress HERE. --------------------- CONNECT WITH DR. ANGELA YOUNG: LinkedIn TikTok RemeDEIpod@gmail.com
