In 1998, SIlkk The Shocker drops Charge It 2 Da Game. In my opinion, one of No Limit's best records. Throw Yo Hood Up was probably the first time I heard Snoop on a No Limit track. This is likely the best song on the record.

"It's Funky Enough" marks the debut single of American rapper The D.O.C., kicking off his 1989 album No One Can Do It Better. This joint ruled the US Top Rap Songs chart for 18 weeks straight, including a solid four weeks at the number one spot. To hype it up, they even dropped a black-and-white music video.

The track was produced by the legendary Dr. Dre and samples "Misdemeanor" by Foster Sylvers. You’ve probably heard it in games like Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, True Crime: Streets of LA, and Madden 2005. The line "Y'all ready for this?" has been lifted in countless rap tracks.

That phrase became a global sensation, thanks to its use in the iconic track "Get Ready for This" by the '90s dance group 2 Unlimited, which is now one of the most played songs in arenas at sporting events.

Eazy-E even took a slice of that flavor in his 1993 diss track "Real Muthaphuckkin' G's," where he threw down the line "stop him in his tracks, show him that I am Ruthless" in the chorus.

He later sampled "It's Funky Enough" again in his track "Creep N Crawl" from his 1995 posthumous release, Str8 off tha Streetz of Muthaphukkin Compton, and also in "That's Gangsta" by Shyne from his self-titled debut album in 2000.

This was one of the first hip-hop tracks I ever heard. What a track it was. It's catchy; it's worthy of being called one of the best singles ever. It's a get money everyday song for any royalties it's getting."It Takes Two" is a song by New York City hip hop duo Rob Base and DJ E-Z Rock that became a top-40 single and was later certified platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). Since it was released in 1988 by Profile Records, the song has been covered and sampled by several recording artists."There are many critics and listeners who claim that Rob Base & DJ EZ Rock's 'It Takes Two' is the greatest hip-hop single ever cut," noted music critic Stephen Thomas Erlewine of All Music Guide. "Hail Mary" is a song by the late American rapper Tupac Shakur, who performed under the stage name Makaveli. Released as part of his 1997 album "The Don Killuminati: The 7 Day Theory," the track features a somber tone and introspective lyrics that delve into themes of mortality, spirituality, and the struggles of life. 

The song's structure includes a haunting melody and incorporates references to biblical imagery, reflecting Tupac's contemplations on faith and redemption. "Hail Mary" is notable for its powerful delivery and emotional depth, showcasing Tupac's ability to express vulnerability and strength simultaneously. 

The song remains one of his most iconic tracks, resonating deeply with fans and solidifying his legacy as one of hip-hop's greatest artists.

Coming in at Number 15 on our Gangsta 100 Playlist, it's C-Murder's "Murder and Daz" from the Bossalinie album that dropped in 1999.

The production was by LT Hutton who was white hot in the late 90's doing work for Death Row, Ruthless Records and No Limit. 

This track became a classic. It has stood the test of time fasho. Daz surpsingly did not produce here but just rapped with the homie Murder. Both made this track gangsta as hell. Let me know what you think about this track in the comments.

Sir Mix A Lot had a career before Baby Got back you know. This was a hit from the Swass record and it's timeless yo!

Sliding in at number 13 on the Gangsta 100 Playlist, we've got the legendary track "Black Superman" by Above The Law. This banger comes from their album "Uncle Sam's Curse," which hit the streets back in 1994. If you haven't had the chance to hear it yet, do yourself a solid and hit pause on this and go dive into that album. Trust me. "Black Superman" stands tall as one of the dopest tracks ever in the history of gangsta rap, and I’d argue it deserves a spot in the top five of all-time gangster rap anthems.

Cold 1-8-7, better known as Big Hutch, was absolutely on fire during this period, showcasing his peak skills in both production and delivery. And let’s not forget about KMG—Rest in Peace—a true legend in his own right. The lyricism on this track is nothing short of phenomenal, and the beat? Straight-up fire. This track is a certified gem that came straight outta Ruthless Records, and we gotta pay homage to Eazy-E—Rest in Peace to the gangsta.
