Their guest this week is Collingwood great Leon Davis. Leon was one of the most naturally gifted small forwards of his generation, playing 225 AFL games, earning 2x All-Australian selections and producing many magical moments around goal. The boys look back on his career at Collingwood, the highs and lows of the 2010 and 2011 seasons, playing in front of huge MCG crowds, and what it was like being part of one of the competition's biggest clubs. Leon also opens up about his journey as a proud Noongar man, the importance of culture, family, community and connection, and the challenges he faced as a young Indigenous player arriving at Collingwood. Joining them on the mic this week is AFL Icon, Doug Hawkins. Dougy, or Hawk as he's known (and hilariously refers to himself in 3rd person), is one of the greats of the game. A legend of the Footscray Football Club, playing 350 games (21 for Fitzroy), he was a club captain, best and fairest and 2x State representative. He was a beautifully balanced footballer, blessed with first class skills and poise, he was quick, strong and tenacious, so much so that they named a wing after at the Whitten Oval. Off the field, Hawk is known as a jovial larrikin, his fun, energy and zest for life has made him one of the most cherished characters within the AFL community. Of course, every persons story has its peaks and valleys, Doug is no exception, from being shown the door at his beloved Bulldogs, to growing up on the rough streets of Braybrook, his journey and subsequent approach to life is something to be admired. Jackson is the son of Aussie icon, Shane Warne - arguably Australia's greatest ever cricketer and the greatest spin-bowler of all-time (in our opinion), he revolutionised the way the sport was played on the field and was loved by fans for how he carried himself off it. Shane tragically passed away in early 2022, leaving behind his 3 children (Brooke, Jackson and Summer) and the cherished memories held by millions of adorning sports fans across the world. Conscious that Jackson is very much his own man and is paving his own path, we did our best to strike the balance between celebrating Shane's life and getting to know Jackson. Just like his dad, he can tell a story and has plenty of his own! Joining them on the mic this week is sheep farmer, Duncan Barber. Duncan is a 4th generation wool grower from Metcalfe, VIC. Along with his wife (Jess) and son (Jack), they run and own their own operation consisting of over 15,000 Merino sheep across 10,000(+) acres. It is just the 3 of them and times are tough, the Barber's along with many across rural VIC are facing one of the harshest droughts on record. This conversation covers all things farming; the relationship with the land and livestock, the gear, the community, the conditions, the lifestyle, the business and much more. Plus, how the current drought and droughts of years gone by have effected the individuals, the community and the industry. What stood out most in the chat is Duncan's character, he's a farmer through and through, he's a realist but he's optimistic, he's empathetic and compassionate but his will is as strong as you'll find. This week Brian and Harrison kick things off with some of the usual chit-chat, they discuss; BT's mid-season getaway to Port Douglas, they review Jay-Z's top 50 AFL players, Tom Lynch's suspension, the SCG surface and plenty more. Joining the boys this week is former AFL player, Heath Shaw. Heater as he's known, is an iconic character of our game, always at the centre of a good time but as hard working as they come. After a few years of honing his craft and building his reputation, Rod went out on his own, 20 odd years later, he is now at the helm of a hairdressing empire. Cutler has several salon's across New York and another in LA, a range of both consumer and B2B hair products and has cut and styled the hair of some of the biggest names in showbiz (Paul McCartney, Emma Watson and Liza Minnelli to name a few). Despite his many great accomplishments on the field, it is Wayne's personal journey with mental health and the work that he is now subsequently doing in the community that is most impactful and admirable to us. As the founder of PukaUp, (a social enterprise dedicated to mental health, emotional wellbeing and suicide prevention) Wayne is starting the conversation and helping to change the narrative and stigma surrounding mental health. For those who don't know the name, Jeff has been involved with the AFL industry within various roles and at across locations for 40 years. A lawyer by trade, he was one of the key people that were involved in the the VFLs transition to a national league, the introduction of the national draft and he was also a pioneer of the systems that allowed player movement within the league. In addition to his work as an advisor to the AFL, he was also the Managing Director of Channel Nine from 2010-2013 and most recently, the Collingwood FC President from 2022-2024. Jeff was diagnosed with a form of cancer called Myeloma a few years ago, fortunately he is now I deep remission, however, after stepping down as Collingwood President, he has decided to take on the role as Chairman of the Myeloma Foundation to help raise awareness and funds for those suffering with the illness.
