Lizzie Borden was summoned to appear for questioning before Judge Blaisdell and D.A. Hosea Knowlton on the first day of her inquest five days after the suspicious murders of her father and stepmother. She was the last person to see them alive moments before their deaths all tho they occurred two hours apart. She was the only person at the house besides the maid.

Christmas…the most festive time of the year. I have fond memories of decorating the tree, helping my mom with the lights or at least attempting to, hanging the stockings on the mantel, being with family, eating amazing food, and then on Christmas Day - seeing a bounty of presents under the tree with our home being filled with joy, love and laughter.

The subway system in New York City is pretty impressive.

It opened in 1904 so it’s one of the oldest subway systems in the world. And it is definitely the largest, with 472 stations. And throughout its history, the subway has offered service 24 hours a day, 7 days a week almost continuously. The exceptions are usually emergencies and disasters, such as 9/11.

You want to take a guess as to how many people ride the subway, on an average weekday? Go ahead, think of a number. Okay, it’s 5.6 million people. Per day!

The subway system can be a little scary sometimes, but most of the time it’s safe. It’s just a large crowd of individual people, each one needing to get from one location to another location. Many of them will have ear buds in, or be engrossed in a book or newspaper, mostly unaware of what’s going on around them.

What you’re gonna hear today is my conversation with Danny. Back when this happened, he lived in New York City with his partner, Pete. In fact, they still live there.

Danny was one of those people on the subway. Head down, in a hurry because he was running late, just wanted to get off the train and up to the street.

But on this day, he happened to notice something on the floor near the stairs.

It was a baby.

12-year-old Sean Daugherty was discovered hanging from a swing set in his backyard earlier this year. He was dressed in his stepfather's clothing, shoeless and with his glasses missing. His death has been ruled a suicide by the local police force, but once you hear all of the suspicious circumstances and details, you might wonder if this was really the right call. Did Sean take his own life or did someone take it? We don’t know - but I believe with all of the information we have, it is certainly worth taking a close look.

Here in the United States, slavery is illegal. The 13th Amendment to the US Constitution was passed by Congress on January 31, 1865 and it was ratified later that same year.

That amendment reads in part “Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude, except as a punishment for crime whereof the party shall have been duly convicted, shall exist within the United States.”

But the fact that it’s illegal doesn’t mean it’s non-existent. The more common modern-day term for it is human trafficking.

The numbers for this are staggering. Hundreds of thousands of people are forced into sexual exploitation just here in the US. And many of them are children.

Ashton Kutcher is an actor, and he’s a father. He’s also become a major activist in the fight against human trafficking, through his foundation and the software that his team has created.

There’s another person who’s also very active in this fight. Her name is Jill. She knows about human trafficking because she was a victim of it. She’s had some truly horrifying experiences – things that no person should ever have to go through.

But she’s still here, and she’s doing everything she can to help put an end to it. And part of that fight is telling the story of what it’s like – from the inside.

I wanted to mention one thing that you might notice while you hear Jill talking about what happened to her. She laughs. She might be describing something that was truly terrifying, but part of talking about it is laughter. She and I actually discussed this, and she is aware of it. It’s not because she looks back on what happened and actually thinks it’s funny. Each of us relates to trauma differently, and a little bit of nervous laughter is just her way of coping as she talks about her experiences.

It was while he was violating her that he said he was going to kill her and twisted her neck to break it. During the life and death struggle for her life, April knows she had no options--it wasn't a feeling, she had no options.

In 1999, Wilkens was tried by the state of Oklahoma and sentenced by a jury to LIFE. She's now 51-years-old, and 25 years into her sentence. Panic Button is the untold story of the escalating cycles of abuse that led to Terry Carlton's death, and the unthinkable ways survivors of violence get chewed up and spit out by Oklahoma's justice system.

In this first episode, attorneys Colleen McCarty and Leslie Briggs tell the story of the night of the murder, the facts in the record, and April's testimony from the stand at trial.

April 1874. Present day Colorado. A half-starved weather-beaten Alfred Packer came limping into the Los Pinos Indian Agency seeking refuge. Feet covered in rags he claimed he had a harrowing story to tell.

The man was ushered in and given food which he vomited up almost as soon as he got it down. Too long without he explained, asking instead for whiskey. Anything that would calm his stomach and hopefully his trembling hands.

Finally, Alfred spoke. Said he had been a guide up in the mountains for some prospectors. They hit some bad weather and worse luck. He himself got snow-blinded and the other five would-be miners abandoned him.

For the next two months this survivor somehow scrapped by - living by his wits, surviving the hellish winter, and making it to civilization all on his own, with almost no supplies.

An amazing tale of endurance, for sure. There’s just one catch - Alfred Packer didn’t seem all that malnourished. Matter of fact, the man seemed pretty well fed. And his story? Well, it had holes.

On May 2nd, 2001, Mary Jean Pearle dropped her daughters Faith and Liberty off for their weekly visit with their father. Even though they didn’t want to go, Wednesday was his visitation night as stated in the divorce decree. Taking a life is one thing, but stretching those last seconds, those last minutes, and that last hour into an absolute living hell is another thing. A pedophile and a child murderer is the worst of the worst. We use words like evil, sadistic, and psychopath, to describe men like Charles Hatcher but this case goes beyond that. Words cannot accurately depict what this type of "Man" is. He is human in his DNA but is totally separate from the human race. When we love, he hates, what we cherish he destroys and the lines that would we never in our darkest days ever dare to cross, do not even exist for Charles Ray Hatcher. With all of that said, enjoy!

When I was a young girl, I read all of the Laura Ingalls Wilder "Little House" books. I was enchanted by the tales of young Laura whose family had great adventures while protecting and supporting each other. I felt a kinship with this girl since I grew up on a farm in the Canadian prairies. A gun was found under Alex, law enforcement declared it was Alex's and the weapon he used to take his life. As far as anyone in Alex's life knew...Alex didn't own a gun. Plus this may not have been the weapon used to kill Alex. No guns shot residue tests were made...nada because no investigation was done. The gruesomeness of this case comes down to the tapes....absolutely horrifying......Without the tapes it would be left up to our imagination as to what transpired inside the "toy box". With the tapes you know what these woman heard as soon as they woke up. You know how they were "trained", you know the mental torture that they had to go through, you know the way that these "toys" were used on the woman. The tapes paint a very vivid picture of what these women went through. The tapes also show another thing, they show just how cold David Parker Ray was. He was an absolute sadopath. There were several other people involved in this mans crimes the main one being Cindy Hindy. The two operated out of a trailer they named "The Toy Box." Officials say that the trailer and its contents was worth over $100,000. After Ray and Hindy kidnapped their victims they would wake up disoriented and tied down listening to a tape of all of the sadistic nasty things Ray was going to do to them. It is not known how many victims the pair truly had, but those who came forward were so brave they fight until the end to put away this Sadopath. (sadistic psychopath)

An investigative journalist and producer for CBS News, St. Amant is the host of podcast. She has been working the case for over six years, dating back to her days in local media, when Dammion’s story first broke. Veteran news producer Lucy L. Scott of lucymedia.com is the editorial consultant for Season 1. Original theme music is composed and performed by Riley Simmons.

First, C.J. tells the first story of Stacey Mitchell being murdered by her fake friends. 19 year old Valerie Parashumti, was a sexually-motivated sadist who drank blood as part of a vampire subculture. Valerie and her lover, 21 year old Jessica Stasinowsky, took the life of 16 year old Stacey Mitchell.

Next, I’ll tell you about Tracey Wigginton, dubbed “The Lesbian Vampire Killer”. She was heavily into vampirism, drinking the blood of animals and wanted to feed on a man. She and her lover, Lisa, along with two other friends made this happen. Sadly, 47 year old Edward Baldock was simply at the wrong place at the wrong time.

Donohoe was a 14-year-old boy who lived in Belfast with his family. On Father’s Day June 21, 2020, amidst lockdown Noah had made plans to go to Cave Hill Park with friends to complete his Duke of Edinburg award (similar to Boy Scouts, but decidedly more complex). Noah put the location into google maps and set off, but something must have derailed him.

**Scary Time by Indie Drop-In -

Noah was caught on 22 CCTV cameras; this was nowhere near the 180 counted on the route that Noah took that the family would later count. There appeared to be gaps in footage and in time. The CCTV that was captured was disturbing, Noah was in various states of undress, shedding his clothing and belongings. Noah’s mother Fiona sounded the alarm later that day and the community rallied behind her; people came out in droves to search for Noah. Noah would later be found in a storm drain in a loyalist area, an area he was unfamiliar with and no business being in. Why was Noah there? And why did the PSNI make a preliminary conclusion of accident upon finding an unclothed 14-year-old boy in a storm drain? This was before a pathologist had looked at the body and determined manner of death, prior to the forensics being run, prior to evidence being collected and prior to individuals who may have had something to do with Noah’s death being questioned. The family has been let down by investigators and stonewalled, as a response the community filled the gap, standing up to the authorities and forming Noah’s army, a movement that is in direct response to the family feeling as though they need to push authorities to do what they are supposed to do…. investigate the death of a child thoroughly. There will be an upcoming coroner’s inquest, where hopefully all the details will come to light. In this episode I speak to Sunday World Journalist Trish Devlin about her experiences as a journalist in Northern Ireland, the abuse, trolling and misogyny she’s personally faced, as well as the history and delicate peace in Northern Ireland. Trish has had the pleasure of speaking to Fiona Donohoe, as well as other family members. I will link below all things Noah Donohoe related, as well as Trish’s work on the case for the Sunday World.

For the first time, to raise awareness of this insidious form of child abuse, I will cover Munchausen syndrome by proxy as a broad topic spanning several episodes instead of concentrating on one case. In part one of the series, I’ll tell you what studies and experts have to say about this commonly misunderstood condition, and I’ll also tell you the first part of the story of 5-year-old Garnett Spears. Garnett’s death in January of 2014 was the culmination of five brutal years of unnecessary surgical procedures, medications, hospitalizations, induced illnesses, and gratuitous suffering at the hands of his mother, and the egregiousness of Garnett’s story has made his one of the most well known cases of Munchausen syndrome by proxy to date.

This is part 1 of the baffling phenomenon of Munchausen Syndrome by proxy.

She had been missing for eight days. On the day she was last seen alive, Tina encountered multiple people, including law enforcement officers, doctors, and her assigned worker from Child and Family Services, who could have put an end to the vicious cycle of trauma pervading Tina's life... but they didn't. Tina could have been saved that day, but the system failed her. The system failed her before she ever even walked this earth. One man was arrested in connection with Tina's death, but today, no one has been charged with the murder of this young girl.

The death of Tina Fontaine, and the failures of the system that was supposed to protect her and children like her, sparked an outpouring of grief, anger, and calls to action across Canada. The Pierce family women were the best of friends. Mom, Rebecca and her daughters - Vivian, Amanda and Kimberly were so close.
In 2009, Vivian was in an abusive relationship with Damon Butler which turned deadly. Damon took the lives of Vivian and her mother, Rebecca. It was brutal. Kimberly and Amanda made it through that difficult time but unbeknownst to them, there was more devastation to come.
In 2015, Amanda’s boyfriend, Brayan Espana, was also an abuser. They’d been together for a few years but Amanda was ready to finally make her escape and be with her children. Unfortunately, the night she was trying to leave, Brayan called the police. Amanda hanged herself with the cord of an iron. Or...did she? This case is going to have multiple parts. There are a lot of recordings that I have permission to play and I want to make sure that everything Kimberly has collected over the years gets heard. He used to be a hero, but now he exploits the abuse of children for views and money. In the 80s and 90s, he was a hard-hitting journalist, tackling some incredibly important stories that shed light on issues like slave labor, the crack cocaine epidemic, and child trafficking. In the early 2000s he was host of the insanely popular TV show, To Catch a Predator. For a while, Chris Hansen was a legitimate celebrity, probably the most famous of any reporter, and beloved by all as a literal hero doing a great public service. However, somewhere along the way he lost sight of the altruistic nature of what he was doing, and now he spends his days shamelessly exploiting underage abuse victims for YouTube views and a quick buck. In part 3 of Deep Cuts' exploration of Hansen, we look at the increasingly unfortunate YouTube career of Hansen, his dealings with pyramid schemes and scams, and ultimately reflect on his larger role in the damage caused to several of the victims he purported to help.

He used to be a hero, but now he exploits the abuse of children for views and money. In the 80s and 90s, he was a hard-hitting journalist, tackling some incredibly important stories that shed light on issues like slave labor, the crack cocaine epidemic, and child trafficking. In the early 2000s he was host of the insanely popular TV show, To Catch a Predator. For a while, Chris Hansen was a legitimate celebrity, probably the most famous of any reporter, and beloved by all as a literal hero doing a great public service. However, somewhere along the way he lost sight of the altruistic nature of what he was doing, and now he spends his days shamelessly exploiting underage abuse victims for YouTube views and a quick buck. In part 2 of Deep Cuts' exploration of Hansen, we explore the rise and fall of To Catch a Predator, and the weird career path Hansen took afterwards.
