Madden claimed strangers had been in the house and tried to point blame elsewhere, but detectives say the physical evidence told a different story, including signs the knife had been cleaned and blood had been washed away. As the case moved to trial in Butler County, prosecutors highlighted Madden’s erratic behavior and the moment he made a damaging statement in court in front of family, including their daughter McKayla Madden. The jury ultimately found Madden guilty of murder and felonious assault, and he was sentenced to a term that makes him eligible for parole after 25 years.

On March 10, 2026, a jury found Dale Warner guilty of second-degree murder and tampering with evidence in the death of Dee Warner.
