The second (and best) half of our first panel discussion on Brian Hales' false claims and opaque "transparency." We discuss Brian's oft repeated claim that no leader (or "keyholder" LOL) ever said why God "commanded" polygamy.

There is an embarrassment of riches when choosing quotes to expose just how seriously false this claim is. It was amazing to see what we each came up with. Good stuff in this one!

I'm hoping Brian and others will take notice that lies will not stand. We take these and all other scriptures seriously:

"Therefore, that we should waste and wear out our lives in bringing to light all the hidden things of darkness, wherein we know them; and they are truly manifest from heaven—

These should then be attended to with great earnestness.

Let no man count them as small things; for there is much which lieth in futurity, pertaining to the saints, which depends upon these things." (D&C 123:13-15)

Cheryl Bruno is fascinating! Mother of 8, expert on Freemasonry and early Mormonism, maker of Mormon tarot cards, author, poet, historian, and very good friend. This presentation is altruistic. Cheryl is the first historian willing to go on the record to publicly say that we have a valid argument that Joseph was not a polygamist! Thank you, Cheryl, for your courage and honesty! But, we too often hurt ourselves by my muddying the water with arguments that are not good. The back side of the deeds are "identical" and there is much overlap on the front side, but the lots on the front side are not exactly the same. This does not in any way affect the conclusion that this deed to Hyrum is devastating to the William Clayton journal and the polygamy narrative, and I will clarify in future episodes, but I wanted to correct the record in the meantime.

Everything to do with Joseph Smith's polygamy hinges on William Clayton and his journals. Many people argue that Clayton's journals should be accepted without question -- but they haven't seen this.

Jeremy Hoop takes us through an extremely in depth look at everything we know about William Clayton's process of record keeping -- and editing. He clearly demonstrates how we can easily tell the difference between an original draft book and a finalized clean copy, and shows in no uncertain terms (through extensive visual evidence) which category Clayton's journals fall into.

This is a very long discussion, which some will find fascinating, and others will find overwhelming. For those who prefer the more condensed version, Jeremy will return in the near future to present a much shorter version of the same presentation and evidence, so you won't completely miss out.

The Nauvoo Expositor, an essential part of church history that lead directly to the martyrdom, and is used by historians and critics to support the assumption that Joseph was indeed the originator of section 132 and polygamy, requires a lot of serious investigation.

Understanding the situations and motivations of the men behind this newspaper, the fears of the city it sought to overthrow, and the things it actually says (and does not say) is essential to the discussion of Joseph Smith's polygamy. While people with only surface research or understanding make claims that the expositor proves Joseph's polygamy, deeper understanding reveals exactly the opposite.

Comparing Joseph Smith's supposed polygamy of the actual Nauvoo polygamists sheds invaluable light on the validity of the claims against Joseph. Peter Brown joins me as we continue the response to recent explanations of Joseph's lack of children, Peter clearly demonstrates the evidence that first convinced him that claims of Joseph's polygamy make no sense and are not plausible. Accusers of Joseph try desperately to write off the inconvenient fact that he had no children with any supposed polygamist wife, even to the point of making truly ludicrous arguments. This episode will once and for all lay to rest the ridiculous claims that Joseph or his supposed wives practiced any form of birth control, or worse, any form of abortion.

Tracing the timeline of contraceptive technology in America as compared to the timeline of Joseph's supposed polygamy is research that should have been done before these claims were ever made.

This episode, responding directly to the claims made by Lindsay Hansen Park, Radio Free Mormon, and Bill Reel, will clearly reveal that it would be far more plausible to claim that Joseph and his wives had access to electric lighting, telephones, and automobiles, than the claims they make to try to explain away his lack of children in polygamy.

Multiple podcasts hit pretty hard last week against people who have come to believe that polygamy did not originate with Joseph Smith. As has always been the case, although they agree on almost nothing else, both those who hate Joseph Smith and think the worst of him, and those who claim to love him and believe they are following in his name, agree on this one central point -- that polygamy started with Joseph Smith.

Both sides are convinced that theirs is the only tenable position. I disagree.
