If you’ve been watching Mzansi Magic’s Nyala O…, you’ll know that these aren’t exactly the picture-perfect marriages they might look like from the outside.

We received a voice note from Mrs Van Staden, a teacher at a primary school, who says her school is holding a colour-run fundraiser this Saturday and the teachers are expected to be there.

The problem? They’re not being paid for it. And that raises a very real question for teachers: when does your working week actually end?

Because teaching isn’t necessarily a “bell rings at 2pm, you go home” job. Teachers can be expected to attend parent meetings, sports events, cultural activities, school functions and other duties outside the formal school day. The official Personnel Administrative Measures actually recognise extra and co-curricular duties outside the formal school day, and say educators are expected to account for 1,800 actual working hours a year.

But what happens when that duty lands on a Saturday?

From 1 April 2026, qualifying micro businesses with annual turnover of up to R2.3 million can opt into the system. The first R600,000 of turnover is taxed at 0%, meaning a qualifying business can make up to R600,000 in turnover without paying Turnover Tax on that amount. And it works differently from normal income tax: instead of taxing your profit, Turnover Tax is calculated on your turnover essentially the money your business receives from its business activities. So, for example, a business with taxable turnover of R900,000 would pay R3,000 in Turnover Tax not R3,000 every month, but R3,000 for the year.

The system is optional, and you have to apply to SARS if you qualify. There are also specific eligibility requirements, so not every small business automatically qualifies. It’s essentially SARS saying: if you’re a qualifying small business, there’s a simpler tax system available but you need to know about it and choose to use it.

Pineapple consistently delivered some of the biggest performances on The Masked Singer South Africa, leaving the Super Detectives guessing about the identity behind the mask.

While J’Something, Somizi and Sithelo Shozi all mentioned Brenden Praise’s name at different points, it was Sithelo who ultimately got it right.

After performing songs across pop, R&B, EDM and amapiano, Pineapple found himself in the Danger Zone alongside Chopsticks and Gogga. Gogga was saved by the judges, leaving Pineapple and Chopsticks to battle for a place in the semi-final. Pineapple ultimately received the fewest votes and was unmasked.

The clues pointed towards Brenden’s music career, faith, upbringing and even his time on Idols South Africa. Other clues included golden trophies, coffee, travelling, a cross and a football boot.

The football clue revealed one of the more surprising parts of Brenden’s story: at 13, he attended trials with Kaizer Chiefs but was overlooked after failing to produce his birth certificate.

In the end, Sithelo correctly identified the soulful singer, former Idols South Africa runner-up, Grammy nominee, producer and entrepreneur as the man behind the Pineapple mask.

A recent Labour Court judgment has raised an interesting question about returning to a workplace after a serious dispute with your employer.

The case involves former NSFAS budget accountant Zenobia Abrahams, who was dismissed after forwarding nine confidential work emails to her personal Gmail account. A CCMA commissioner later found her dismissal substantively unfair and ordered NSFAS to reinstate her with more than R1 million in back pay. NSFAS challenged that decision, and the Labour Court has now set the CCMA award aside and referred the matter back for a fresh arbitration.

But beyond the legal battle, it raises a very real workplace question: if you were fired by your employer and had to take the company to the CCMA to fight for your job, would you actually want to go back?

Even if the outcome went in your favour and you were offered your old position back, could you comfortably return to the same workplace, work under the same management and sit alongside the people involved in your dismissal?

Would you go back to a company that fired you or would you rather take the win and move on?

Residents in Durban’s Berea say weekend nightlife has become a serious problem, with excessive noise, traffic, overcrowding, litter and partygoers spilling into the surrounding residential streets.

One resident, who has lived in the area for more than 15 years, says the disruption has become so bad that she is now considering selling her home and leaving the area.

Ward 33 councillor Fran Kristopher is also demanding answers over what residents describe as a lack of Metro Police enforcement and response when they report problems. But it raises a bigger question: If you live in an area that becomes a popular nightlife hotspot, how much disruption should you be expected to tolerate?

Having children used to feel like one of those things that was simply part of the traditional life checklist: finish school, study or work, get married, buy a home and have kids. But is that checklist changing?

A recent News24 article looks at South Africa’s declining birth rate and asks whether parenthood is losing its place as an expected part of adult life. The latest Stats SA figures support the bigger trend: South Africa’s fertility rate has fallen from an average of 2.78 children per woman in 2008 to 2.12 in 2026, while recorded births have been declining since 2020.

But this doesn't mean South Africans have suddenly stopped having babies. The country still has a relatively young population and continues to grow. What is changing is how many children people are choosing to have and potentially when, or whether, they choose to become parents at all.

There are plenty of reasons people might be rethinking parenthood: the cost of raising children, housing, career ambitions, relationships, personal freedom and simply deciding that having children isn't part of the life they want.

Kenneth says his tenant called him in a panic because her unit was the only one without electricity. Trying to be a good landlord, he immediately called an electrician who charged a R1,250 call-out fee.

But before the electrician could even attend to the problem, the tenant called back to say she had figured it out: the DB board had tripped, and her electricity was back on.

Now Kenneth has told her that if the electrician won't refund the call-out fee, she needs to pay the R1,250. But she refuses, saying the fee isn't her responsibility.

So, who's wrong here? Should the landlord absorb the cost because it was his responsibility to sort out the electricity or should the tenant pay because the electrician was called out unnecessarily?

THE LEOPARD HAS BEEN UNMASKED! The latest celebrity to be revealed on The Masked Singer South Africa is none other than SAFTA-winning actor Tumisho Masha!

The detectives were all over the place, with guesses ranging from Sjava and S’dumo Mtshali to Sizwe Dhlomo and DJ Sabby. But Detective Sithelo Shozi got it right, correctly identifying Tumisho before his mask came off.

Tumisho, known for shows like Isidingo, Saints and Sinners and The Wild, also has major international credits, including Beyond Borders alongside Angelina Jolie.

The Leopard’s recurring mirror clues also had a meaning, Tumisho says they represented self-reflection and staying true to yourself after years in the entertainment industry.

A retired couple has sparked a family feud after buying their 32-year-old son a small house to help him get a fresh start.

The son has struggled to find direction and isn’t financially stable, so his parents say they simply wanted to give him the support he needed.

But their 27-year-old daughter is furious. She’s married, has two children and has worked hard to build a stable life independently. She says her parents have always gone the extra mile for her brother because he “needs help” while she’s been left to figure things out on her own.

Now she’s keeping her distance, accusing her parents of rewarding failure while overlooking success. The parents, however, say it’s not about favoritism,  their son simply needed more help.

Another jaw-dropping reveal on The Masked Singer South Africa Season 3!

After keeping the detectives and viewers guessing,King Pie was finally unmasked as comedian, musician and Radio Raps star Rikus de Beer!

Rikus had the panel completely bamboozled as they tried to work out who was hiding behind the massive pastry costume, with guesses ranging from cricket legend AB de Villiers and kwaito icon Kabelo Mabalane to Springbok assistant coach Mzwandile Stick and comedian Darren Maule.

J’Something eventually settled on AB de Villiers, while Somizi went with Kabelo Mabalane and Skhumba backed Mzwandile Stick. Sithelo, meanwhile, returned to her earlier guess of Darren Maule – meaning none of the detectives managed to crack the real identity.

And after weeks of clues, costumes and performances, the mystery was finally solved: King Pie was Rikus de Beer, better known as Radio Raps!

We got this voice note from Lerato, who ordered a birthday cake for her son Kumo. When she went to collect it, she realised the bakery had spelled his name incorrectly. She says she would never have given them the wrong spelling and was upset that the bakery refused to fix the cake.

Marie from Silverton is dealing with a difficult family situation. Her brother is getting married, and when Marie looked through the guest list, she noticed someone she definitely did not expect to see her ex.

The problem is, Marie says this man hurt her badly, and she’s struggled to move on from what happened between them. So naturally, she asked her brother why he would invite him to such an important family occasion.

Another jaw-dropping reveal on The Masked Singer South Africa Season 3!

 After keeping the detectives and viewers guessing, Spinach was finally chopped and unmasked as rap icon and “king of zef” Jack Parow!

Jack had the panel scrambling as they tried to work out who was hiding behind the elaborate green Spinach costume, with guesses ranging from Bryan Habana and Clint Brink to Benni McCarthy and YoungstaCPT.

But it wasn’t just the identity that had everyone talking – Spinach’s clues were just as wild as the costume! From his references to high-school rugby and his childhood pet parrot to his signature Parow Brandy and a mysterious “keto” birdseed clue, there were plenty of hints pointing towards Jack.

Detective J’Something eventually had several aha moments, connecting the parrot clue, the brandy reference and Spinach’s love of rapping. His final guess? Jack Parow – and for the first time this season, J’Something was spot-on!

And after weeks of clues, costumes and performances, the mystery was finally solved: Spinach was Jack Parow! Despite the intense costume, the rapper said he had an incredible time under the Mask and walked away with a newfound appreciation for the professionals who work in elaborate costumes.

A listener says she was visiting a friend over the weekend when her friend’s child asked to borrow her phone to play games. She handed it over, but while playing, the child dropped the phone and smashed the screen.

She took her iPhone 16 to Vodacom and was quoted R7,000 for a screen replacement. But now there’s a problem: her friend refuses to pay, saying she believes it’s actually the listener’s fault for handing the child the phone in the first place.

Born in KwaZulu-Natal, Nokx has built an impressive international career, spending 11 years at London’s acclaimed Rosewood London, where she became Head Pie Maker and Senior Chef. She was also named one of Jay Rayner’s Rising Stars in 2022.

There’s something so strange about driving past a place where you used to spend your weekends and realising that the nightclub you once knew has completely disappeared.

The spots where we dressed up, stood in queues, blew R800 on a night out and promised our parents we were “sleeping at a friend’s house” are now dentists, clinics, Woolies, furniture shops and restaurants.

Ftv in Fourways is now a Woolies, Cofi is now a furniture shop, and Vacca Matta has become a Thai spa, which, as Thembekile pointed out, technically still offers a “happy ending.” Then there’s Liquid Chefs… a name that instantly brings back memories for anyone who was out in Joburg during that era.

It’s basically a reminder that Joburg nightlife has changed dramatically but the memories of those places are still very much alive.

There’s a hilarious babysitting story doing the rounds from Instagram user @angi.jamz.

She says she was booked to babysit until 5PM, so naturally, that’s the time she planned to pack up and leave. But then the parents messaged her to say they wouldn’t be coming home until 2AM!

Angi told them she couldn’t stay that late and would have to leave at the agreed time. That’s when the parents hit her with: “We were telling you, not asking you!”

And that has sparked the BIG question: If someone books you to babysit until 5PM, can they just tell you they’re coming home at 2AM  or do they need to actually ASK if you’re available?

Another jaw-dropping reveal on The Masked Singer South Africa Season 3!

 After keeping the detectives and viewers guessing, Koeksister was finally unmasked as comedian and actress Tumi Morake!

Tumi had the panel scrambling as they tried to work out who was hiding behind the elaborate Koeksister costume, with plenty of guesses thrown around before the mask finally came off.

But it wasn’t just the identity that had everyone talking that Koeksister suit was a whole production! From the giant South African sweet-treat design to performing and moving around in such an elaborate costume, Tumi certainly committed to the character.

There’s a contestant on the current season of Married at First Sight Mzansi who’s only 24 years old, and it's sparked a massive debate online. If you've opened X, switched on the TV or listened to the news over the past few weeks, chances are you've heard about the Madlanga Commission.

Today we are giving you a 101 update for those of you who know ZERO about it...The commission was established by President Cyril Ramaphosa after explosive allegations by KwaZulu-Natal Police Commissioner Lt-Gen Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi, who claimed there had been political interference, corruption and criminal infiltration within South Africa's police, intelligence and justice systems. The inquiry, chaired by retired Constitutional Court Justice Mbuyiseli Madlanga, is now tasked with getting to the bottom of those claims.

Let's start with One of the biggest questions that's come up is: Why was the Political Killings Task Team shut down? 

One of Lt-Gen Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi's biggest claims is that the Political Killings Task Team was shut down because it was getting too close to exposing powerful criminal syndicates and the people allegedly protecting them. He told the commission the unit was delivering results not failing and believes its disestablishment was meant to derail sensitive investigations. That's now one of the key issues the commission is trying to determine.

After weeks of keeping both the detectives and viewers guessing, Protea was finally unmasked as SAFTA Award-winning actress Shannon Esra. The detective panel was completely off the mark, throwing out names like Moonchild, Sho Madjozi and Khutso Theledi but not one of them guessed Shannon.

Speaking after the reveal, Shannon admitted that keeping her identity a secret was one of the hardest parts of the show, saying it sometimes felt like she was lying to the people closest to her. She also revealed performing inside the elaborate costume meant remembering one very important thing... to breathe!

No one saw this one coming on The Masked Singer South Africa! Travel content creator Popi Sibiya was revealed as the celebrity behind Pap & Wors, leaving the detective panel completely stumped.

Vuyani sent us a voice note that's got the family divided, and now he wants to know if he's overreacting.

He says he gave his sister a spare key to his house for emergencies only. But instead, she started letting herself in whenever she felt like it. The first time, Vuyani brushed it off. The second time, he came home to find his sister relaxing on the couch, watching TV as if nothing was wrong.

Ngcebo ordered groceries on PnP ASAP, but while tracking the driver, she noticed her order had already been marked as delivered. She stopped the driver at the gate, and they realised he'd delivered it to the wrong unit.

When they got to the unit, no one answered at first. Eventually, the residents came out but claimed they'd also ordered from PnP ASAP before finally handing Ngcebo her groceries.

As kids, many of us picked our favourite sports team before we even knew the rules of the game. Maybe it was because of your dad, your older brother, your friends, or simply because you liked the colours. But now that you're older... is it okay to change?

 Anele says,"Why must I stick with something I chose when I was eight years old?" It's a fair question. People change, players move on, and sometimes you simply connect with a different team.

Cindy saysmany people didn't even choose their team in the first place. They inherited it from family. If your whole house supports one club, did you ever really have a choice?

Then there's Formula 1. Is it different? Do you support a constructor like Ferrari or Mercedes, or do you follow your favourite driver wherever they go? Anele admits she's happy to change with a driver, although Alakhe is still loyal to Bottas.
