Acoustic pleasure

This month we welcome onboard Phil Jubb. Beginning his DJ career in 1990, Phil soon became household name in the South West, holding residencies at the 2,000 capacity Plymouth Warehouse with Cultural Vibes and later Screem. Playing across the UK throughout the 90s at venues such as Club UK (London), The Gardening Club (London), Home (Manchester), and Lakota (Bristol), to name just a few, and also in Europe, including the huge 1994 Universe Tribal Gathering event in Munich. He’s shared line ups with some of the best DJs in the World, and has warmed up for Sasha and John Digweed a number of times, most notably on the final night of their Northern Exposure album tour. Also dipping into production, he had several releases on the local Urban Collective label, as well as remixing tracks for labels such as Whoop!, Limbo and DMC. Fast forward to the present day and Phil is still delivering seamless, technical mixes of the very best in current melodic house & techno, progressive house and electronica. He plays at Cultural Vibes events, and does regular sets & live streams for the South West’s Melodic Beats label. Phil also plays abroad in Morzine, France, at après ski parties at various venues during the winter season. Having recently rebuilt and significantly expanded his home studio, Phil is again embarking on fresh own production and remix work, with new releases now coming through and many more in the pipeline. This duo have already had releases on labels such as Sound Avenue, Movement records, Mango Alley and many more. We are pleased to welcome them onto the show and they have delivered a fantastic mix with some of of their own productions as well. Look out for them this year as they are going to be hot stuff!

Hi there and a happy new year from everyone at Acoustic pleasure. For this months show we are delighted to feature a live set. It was recorded at Crew Stories Xmas party in LA and is performed by 2 Reels main man Chris Grim. We featured an hour of the set on our Proton show and as a special new years treat we have uploaded the entire set for you! After bringing you some great music in 2023 we aim to continue that this year with highlights to come including our 100th show which is quite a milestone for a little radio show that started way back in 2016! Acoustic pleasure returns with special guest Hobin Rude. Hobin has been making a name for himself recently with productions on labels such as Mango Alley, Juicebox music, The Soundgarden and many more. We have had our eyes on this Serbian based producer for quite some time and are delighted to finally get him on the show. He has provided us with an awesome deep mix loaded with his own productions as well as some other top artists. On this months Acoustic pleasure we welcome on board Strange Malcolm. Strange Malcolm. Aka Steve Dixon is one of the best upcoming producers around right now. His EP on Melodic Beats Recordings Stars has been a staple in the sets of the one and only Nick Warren for months now and his gorgeous organic sounds have been winning him fans all over the globe. He has a new EP signed to Nicks label The Soundgarden which is coming out next year and lots more exciting projects on the horizon. Were delighted to have him on the show and we know youll love his deep and groovy organic sounds. Hes definitely one to look out for in the future so keep your eyes peeled!

Based in the north of the UK, Lynsey has been exciting our music palets for some time with her unique take on progressive / breaks through to higher octane D&B mixes. She's a firm Djs favourite and in popular demand with many prevalent stream-based shows through to notable gig activity. Her long running show on Subcode - Yana is set to be taken on the road for its first live event on April 19th at Venn Street in Huddersfield and you can also catch her at Subcodes massive event in London playing alongside the legendary Lexicon Avenue. In the meantime you can catch her on Stylus International woman day on AATM radio on March 12th alongside some other very talented female DJ's. Lynsey is on in the second hour laying down her awesome selection while yours truly warms things up in the first hour. Check out this talented DJ now as shes certainly one to watch in the future

Hi folks. As January has been a particually long month and we know you need cheering up so we have decided to let this months edition of Acoustic pleasure to release a week early! And this months show features a guest mix from Forensic recordings alumini Dave Walker. Warwickshire based producer, Dave Walker has been honing his skills in the art of audio engineering and DJ’ing for the last 20 years. As one half of The Stupid Experts and on his own, Dave has had many successful releases on various labels such as Avanti, JOOF, UV, Pure Progressive, Colorize, Bedrock, Forensic and Balance Series with various Radio 1 and Kiss FM plays. Dave’s evolution in the scene has allowed him to carve his own forward-thinking style of melodic progressive dance music and always tries to push the boundaries further with every production. Daves set will no doubt blow those winter blues away while your show host will get things moving in the first hour. We have many great acts lined up for you for 2023 so lets kick things off the right way with another great show

Our next edition of Acoustic pleasure features Journeydeep Aka Josh Powelson. Josh is a Denver-based DJ and producer and founder of JourneyDeep Music, LLC. Powelson curates’ releases in line with his deep progressive sound, bringing up-and-coming talents from around the globe. Created with the goal of growing a family of like-minded artists to give a platform to showcase their talents to, the label has grown to include artists such as Astronoize, Barry Jamieson, Eli Spiral, Kiz Pattison, Noel Sanger, Sean McClellan, Ivan James, Rudiment, and many others. Since 2018 JourneyDeep Records have garnered support from the likes of Anthony Pappa, Danny Tenaglia, Dubfire, John Digweed, Joseph Capriati, Jimmy Van M, MANDY, Nic Fanciulli, Nick Muir, Quivver, and more. Most recently, the label received support from Gustin in his video premiere of “Streaming in Ibiza.” Josh has given us a great mix full of bangers which will be in the second hour while your show host Matt Black will be getting things moving in the first hour. Something to warm you up on those cold evenings

Steven has been around the Scotish Progressive house scene since the mid 90’s and was behind some big productions on labels such as Limbo and Choo choo records. He is currently one of the residents of the Skyline rooftop events bringing quality progressive house to Glasgow. Having already featured the likes of Nick Warren and Nicolas Rada the next one is on November 13th and features Alex O’Rion and Henry Saiz. Steven has provided us with a lovely mix of deep organic grooves perfect for those cold autumn evenings while your show host lays down his usual selection of tough beats to get those toes tapping in the first hour, another great show for sure

In the first hour your host warms things up nicely with some deep house grooves making this another must hear show

For this months show we welcome along Latex Zebra. Latex Zebra (Also known as Dan Nugent) is one half of the production duo Last 2 Standing and has seen releases this year on labels such as Pangea and he has also started his own label Prognosis which is bubbling along nicely with 3 quality releases under their belt and more to come in the future. If you want to hear the duo in action you can catch them next month at the Kanteena event in Lancashire where they will be playing alongside legendary DJ's 3D AKA Dave Seaman, Danny Howells and Darren Emerson as well as Lexicon Avenue and other upcoming talent. Tickets are on Skiddle now and the whole thing is happening on the 17th September. This set will give you a sample of the sort of sounds you will hear on the night. Your show host warms things up nicely with some deep meldodic grooves to get things bubbling along nicely, another 2 hours of great music!

For this months show we welcome on board hot new talent Orticaan Aka Daryl Thomas After 20 years in and out of the scene, Daryl has launched his production career with the alias Orticaan. He has upcoming releases on labels such JourneyDeep , Droid9, ARRVL and Arbor records and is definitely one to look out for in the future. Daryls mix is loaded with some of his brand new material and some of his recent favourites while in the first hour your show host does his usual thing bringing you one hour of top tunes and the combination is musical magic!

For this months show we welcome back DJ D-Vox Aka Daniela Rhodes who has already appeared on the show a couple of times and is someone were always happy to have back but this month she has done us a very special mix. Back in February Daniela played at the Krafted event in Bournemouth and unfortuntely she was unable to record the set due to technical issues but she has managed to recreate that set especially for this months show. Expect some deep progressive grooves with Danielas amazing live vocals in the second hour while in the first hour your show host will be laying down his usual deep and melodic beats.

Ranj is someone whose productions we have been a fan of for quite a while and am delighted to get him on the show, he has had releases on labels such as Pangea, Stripped recordings, Melodic beats and many more. Ranj can flip effortlessly from melodic breaks to tough house grooves in the blink of an eye, he is certainly one of the hottrest new talents out there. A South Coast based Progressive/Techno dj and producer, Erik's love affair with electronic music started shortly after he was born. Having taken up DJ-ing in the early 90's, Erik has played all over the country from clubs to festivals, as well as regular guest slots at Bournemouth's top progressive and techno night, Terminal ,and gracing the decks at SO3 Collective events in Southampton and Twisted parties along the South Coast. Taking in everything from deep house to techno, progressive trance to spaced out breaks, Erik's sets are a melting pot of lush soundscapes and haunting melodies sitting side by side with techno beats and energy infused basslines. Equally at home in the studio, Erik’s productions have garnered support from dj’s across the spectrum, from Nick Warren to Umek, Cristian Varela to Meat Katie with releases on Krafted Records, AH Digital, Gibbon Records and Wight Label Records to name a few. Erik has crafted us a lush mix with ambient soundscapes and deep grooves while your show host Matt Black lays down his usual top selection of tune, another winner we think

Acoustic pleasure returns this month and i am delighted to welcome on board the amazing Enertia-Sound. Enertia-sound is an electronic music act and DJ duo from England (Twisty and Andron One). Started out in 2007, they soon made a name for themselves playing in underground raves and parties, Since then Enertia-sound has grown into a punchy mix of dancefloor Prog and Breaks from downtempo to psy infused progressive house. Their music has strong influences from Psy and Prog to Breaks with driving funky rhythms, rough basslines, epic melody structures and cinematic build-ups. Craig is also one half of Static Guru and A&R for Vesta Records(RPO Group) so i am delighted he has found time to provide us with this amazing mix. As per usual your show host lays down his own selection of quality beats in what is another amazing show

For this months show we welcome on board Russias very own Olga Misty. Her show Ocean Planet which is monthly on Proton radio and DIFM is a regular in the Proton top 10 and has been running for around 10 years. She has also recently started her own show on Frisky radio Solace which she gained after being awarded the artist of the week in 2020. Olga style is deep and ethereal and a perfect complement to show host Matt Black who does one of his usual deep and groovy sets. All in all another cracking show!
