Bal Krishan has grown up watching his villagers offer all kinds of prayers and sacrifices to Lord Indra. But this time, he advised everyone to worship Mount Govardhan, who was the real benefactor of his people.

Seeing this, Lord Indra got very upset and asked the clouds to wreak havoc on the villagers. But Bal Krishan had different plans and he did something, which is one of the most popular episodes from his childhood.

Once Bal Krishna and his friends were tending to their cattle next to the Yamuna river. It was very hot, so everyone took some water from the river.  But that water was contaminated due to snake Kaliya's poison. Bal Krishan used his powers to bring everybody back to their senses.

But to rid the Yamuna river of this ill effect, Bal Krishna jumped into the river. They fought bravely but finally Bal Krishna was able to overpower the snake and came out of the river standing and dancing on top of the snake's head

Once Bal Krishna went to the riverside with his friends to feed their cattle. While all of them were having their meal, the cattle went a little further away from the kids and Bal Krishna went to get them all back. In the meantime, Lord Brahma crossed that place and found this as a great opportunity to see Lord Vishnu's powers and hence, made all the other kids disappear.

When Bal Krishna came back, he understood immediately that it was Lord Brahma's work and he did something unique to ensure no family had to go through the pain of losing their child.

Once Bal Krishna and Balaram took their cattle early in the morning to feed their friends. There they were spotted by Aghasur, the demon who was the sibling of demoness Putna and demon Bakasur. Aghasur decided to take revenge for the death of his relatives and took the form of a big snake.

He sat down opening his mouth wide open. Innocent kids walked into the mouth thinking of it to be a road but Bal Krishna was aware of the true intentions of this snake and ensured that he paid for his sins.

Once Bal Krishna and Balaram took their cattle to feed with their friends. When they went to drink water at a nearby stream, they found a big heron over there who snapped Bal Krishna in its mouth. This heron was actually a demon called Bakasura sent by Kansa. But when the heron closed his mouth, it started to burn as if it was on fire. Heron had to spit Bal Krishna out and then they started to fight physically. Eventually, Bal Krishna got hold of Bakasura's big beaks and split his body apart.

After moving to Vrindavan, Bal Krishna and his friends were given the responsibility to look after the cattle. He used to go out daily with Balaram and his friends and one fine day, King Kansa sent another demon Vartasur to kill him. Vartasur took the form of a calf but he was quickly spotted by Bal Krishna. Taking Balaram along, he got hold of the tail of the calf and swung it over his head into the trees to end his life.

As the demon attacks on Gokul kept on increasing, one of the elderlies of the village, Upanand Ji, recommended to everyone that to keep the village kids safe it was high time for them to migrate to a nearby forest known as Vrindavan. When everyone agreed to his suggestion, the whole village migrated that day itself and that started the new phase of little Krishna's life.

Once Bal Krishan was playing in Yashoda Maiyaa's lap but then she has to put him down to attend to some urgent chores. In his anger, Bal Krishan broke the butter pot and ran away. When Yashoda Maiyaa caught him, she decided to tie him up to a huge iron pot.

But whenever she tries to tie the knot, the rope always fell short by 2 fingers. This was due to Bal Krishan's powers. Seeing the mother getting tired, he let himself be tied up.

When Yashoda Maiyya went away, Bal Krishan walked toward the two trees in their garden, who were actually son's of Kuber and due to a curse of Narad Muni have become trees. Using the iron pot tied to which he was tied, he pulled the two trees out and freed the two godsons.

Lord Krishna and Lord Balram were growing up fast in Gokul under the love and care of Nand Ji and Yashoda Maiyya. But Bal Krishna loved butter so much that he used to eat butter belonging to other villagers. 

Once, Lord Balram came along with other villagers to complain against Bal Krishan for eating mud. When little Krishna denied it, he opened up his mouth and showed it to Yashoda Maiyya. But as soon as she looked inside, she was awestuck. She could see the entire universe in the little child's mouth. 

Seeing this, she realized that her son was not any ordinary child but god himself. But then Bal Krishan made her forget this entire episode using his powers as time was not yet ripe to disclose his true identity.

Lord Krishna and Lord Balram were a little older now and were to be given their formal name. Once Rishi Garg visited Gokul and Nand Baba asked him to do the honors.

Rishi Garg was skeptical that if he performs this auspicious task, King Kansa will come to know that Baal Krishna is the child who is destined to kill him. But he was also keen not to let go of this opportunity which is offered once in eons of naming the human form of Lord Narayana. Finally, Nand Baba proposed that the boys should be named in a cowshed by Rishi Garg with just immediate family members around.

Sent by King Kansa, Demon Trinavarta wished to end Lord Krishna’s life. Trinavarta was a very strong demon and could even take the form of storms whenever he wished. When Lord Krishna realized that Trinavarta had arrived in Gokul, he was in the lap of Yashoda. With his divine powers, he made himself so heavy that Yashoda got tired of holding him. She left him there and went inside briefly to attend to some other household work.

Meanwhile, Trinavat took the form of a massive storm and lifted Little Krishna. Lord Krishna suddenly made himself very heavy again, so much so that the demon could not carry him anymore. Then Krishna held Trunavat’s neck and put an end to his life.

Little Krishna turned one year old and there were great celebrations in Gokul. Nand Baba and Yashoda Maiyya were attending to all the guests. As Krishna started feeling sleepy, Yashoda Maiyya kept his cot underneath a bullock cart.

After a while, when Krishna woke up, he wanted to attract the attention of his parents and others. When no one responded to his cries for a while, he kicked the bullock cart with one of his legs and the cart flew up in the air and fell sideways. This way, Krishna was able to gain the attention of everyone towards him.

Lord Krishna started living his life under the love and care of Nand Ji and Yashoda Maiyya in Gokul. On the other hand, Kansa was living a life under threat and he was unable to find the child who was destined to kill him. He became very restless and sent Pootna a ferocious female demon, which was famous for disguising herself as a pretty woman. She was asked to look and kill all the children in the kingdom who were one year old or less.

When Pootna reached Baal Krishna’s house, dressed as a beautiful woman, Yashoda maiyya did not doubt her and let her play with the little child. Pootna carried poison with her and tried to give it to the child in the milk.

Krishna being a God was well aware of her hidden motives from the moment he saw her and using his might, he killed the demoness Pootna.

The cruel demon king Kansa was the king of Mathura. Kansa married his dear sister Devki off to his close friend Vasudev. On the day of the wedding, a celestial voice warned Kansa that the 8th offspring of Devki and Vasudev will be the one who will kill Kansa. Kansa first tried to kill them right away but then seeing them plead, he agreed to spare their lives but jailed them both in his kingdom. 

As time passed Devki gave birth to 6 sons, which were killed by Kansa. When Devki became pregnant for the seventh time, the unborn child was sent by Lord Vishnu to be raised in the womb of Vasudev’s first wife Rohini. When Devki gave birth to her eighth son, Lord Vishnu asked Vasudev to carry the child to Gokul to be raised by his friend Nand Ji. Vasudev did as instructed and from Gokul, he brought back Nand and his wife Yashoda’s newly born daughter.

Kansa came to know about the birth of the eighth child of Devki who was a daughter. When Kansa tried to kill her, the newborn girl, who was actually an incarnation of Devi Yogmaya, flew up in the air and told Kansa, that the child who will put an end to his life is already born and is in a safe place.
