In this lecture we continue the discussion on the Islamic teachings of ‘enjoining what is right and forbidding what is wrong’. We learn together about the remaining points on the guidelines and approach a Muslim must know and apply well in order to fulfill this noble practice which Allah described the believers with and entrusted them.

In a time of great trials and tribulations, injustices, misguidance, false ideologies and alluring temptations, the topic of enjoining what is right and prohibiting what is wrong has become a crucial topic. However, the Muslim community must learn the wisdom and approach in doing so, applying the Quranic verse ‘invite to the path of your Lord with wisdom and goodly advice’ (16:125).

This topic is sensitive, requiring attention and care in implementing, otherwise may result in the opposite effect, causing greater wrong and even turning others away from the right path. In this lecture, we address the 10 rules and guidelines and the 10 etiquettes and approaches to this noble instruction of Allah where He said, ‘You are now the best people brought forth for (the guidance and reform of) mankind.You enjoin what is right and forbid what is wrong and believe in Allah…’ (3:110)

Pre-Ramadan Iman booster. A casual chat with my brother in Islam, Imam Omar Suleiman. This was recorded while we were on a tour together in the UK, the annual Light Upon Light Conference Tour 2024.

We discuss his childhood, friendships, his late mother’s influence on him and Palestine, Imam Omar’s ethnic origin.

Each person in this world is born into circumstances beyond their control and choice. Some in ease, others in hardship. Some advantaged, others disadvantaged. Each of us has a story, and each is a unique journey. Some are left with scars and traumas, others loss and grief, some in safety and protection, others survived wars and atrocities. From each, there are blessings hidden and disguised in suffering, others through afluency and opportunities. Each must identify both the blessings and tests they have and rise. Many people fail by jumping to judgments about others, not knowing their passed struggles and circumstances, instead of looking into their own hearts and Iman, their own shortcomings and weaknesses, and rather than assisting, advising with goodness and helping others to rise and heal.

Then there are those whom Allah brings a leader out of, a benefit to others through the hardships of life’s harsh lessons, to become a source of hope, healing and guidance to the vulnerable and troubled like them. Whomever Allah uses in the task of spreading His Message and helping others out of darkness, is a better gift than what the sun has risen upon.

This is a story of struggle, hardship, pain, grief, heartbreak, agony and survival, to a guidance from Allah from darkness to light, narrowness to vastness, loneliness to being part of an ummah, and from heartbreaking loss to gain and healing.

It was my absolute pleasure in hosting my first live interview with our beloved Ustadh Nouman Ali Khan, where we talked about his journey from early age atheism to becoming one of the most prominent students of the Quran in today's era.

It was an interesting and beneficial discussion in which we bounced off each other’s life stories where there were relatabilities between us.

The heartbreaking events in Gaza have exploded into a tsunami of waves across the world prompting an unprecedented awareness and shift in the way the world now perceives the Palestinian people, Palestine, and Israel.

A mix of hundreds of millions of all ethnicities, religions and age-groups have voiced their objection to the onslaught of oppression and killings of Palestinian children and adults, protests, boycotts, media campaigns, prayers, tears, unity and objection.

These angelic Palestinians have unconsciously given rise to large numbers of non-Muslims globally to look favorably at Islam and even converting/reverting to Islam, after they witnessed the unmatched spirituality, strength and faith of the Palestinians, men, women and children alike.

At the same time, many have developed an interest in knowing the facts about Islam’s view of those it terms ‘People of the Book’, why Muslims call them that, how Islam stands out compared to them, the position of the Quran to the Bible of the Jews and Christians, what Islam actually stands for, the Quran’s position to the Old and New Testaments and its adherents among the Christians and Jews.

The youth are the strength and hope of this Ummah’s future. There are whole chapters in the Quran dedicated to them. We must nurture them and guide them to be brave and cultivate their identity, skills, creativity and their fresh minds.

Immerse yourself in the stories of prophets who faced adversity, yet found courage and hope in the divine promise of a brighter tomorrow. Their journeys serve as beacons, guiding us through the darkest hours toward the dawn of a new era, inshaAllah.

The widespread injustice and oppression will be restored with justice and righteousness with the rise and unity of the truthful victors of Allah, with the rise of a leader and Caliph, the Mahdi, the descension of the son of Maryam, Prophet Jesus (AS) and the defeat of the Dajjal (anti-Christ) and his army.

In this lecture, we continue discussing all the above in some detail from the Islamic and rational perspective, the signs of the Last Hour and current events in Palestine.

While the world watches as the innocent children and families of Gaza, Palestine get killed by the Israeli missile attacks, and the eyes cry blood as the world sees and witnesses in real time, a genocide happening right before their eyes, a new global shift among the new young generation is emerging. The world is open to a new civilization, morals and values.

As at the turn of every century a reformation and reformer comes to the Ummah, according to Islamic tradition, perhaps this time is upon us. The Gazan people’s sacrifice and what once believed to be evil people, them being the bad side and Israel being the good side, as has been the media narrative and those who control it, in both the Muslim and non-Muslim world is starting to change what they once believed about them. Allah has ordained signs and occurrences leading up to the inevitable Last Hour, with each event giving rise to a new event ever so working towards the inevitable which Allah has ordained to be in this world.

The widespread injustice and oppression will be restored with justice and righteousness with the rise and unity of the truthful victors of Allah, with the rise of a leader and Caliph, the Mahdi, the descension of the son of Maryam, Prophet Jesus (AS) and the defeat of the Dajjal (anti-Christ) and his army.

The second part of this lecture shows us what it truly means to have trust in Allah and that in true submission to Him lie the keys to our own benefit and salvation.

Prophet Ibrahim (AS) is willing to slaughter his son if it pleases Allah and knows the wisdom behind it is inconceivable and beyond his comprehension, yet his trust and faith in Allah makes him not hesitate. It shows the value Islam places on a mother, in the story of Hajar (AS) and Ismail (AS). The result is the building of the Ka’bah and the unity of the world 5000 years on, manifesting the symbol of the oneness of Allah, unity and brotherhood and the true meaning of Islam.

An atheist once asked me why does he get this deep sense of calling out to God if he imagines himself shipwrecked and stuck in the middle of the sea? Even an atheist asks. We all ask the same question. Some make up their own beliefs, others hold on to a supernatural deity or superstitious belief to make sense of this inner calling.

Yet still, deep inside they know there is something missing, so much so that moment it is questioned and rattled they may either submit to the fact they are in error and need to search for a better truth or they become angry and boastful attacking whoever opposes.

This first part of this lecture talks about the childhood of Prophet Ibrahim (AS) showing this magnificent natural sense Allah created all humans upon, in order to help guide them and not go astray. It is called the ‘Fitra’.

The young Prophet Ibrahim (AS) endures with the backlash of holding on to this inner truth which makes him grow in intelligence and powerful convictions yet which rattle his people’s beliefs and question themselves.
It also connects with us showing the hardships of life such as domestic and family abuse, bullying, plots of haters and how Allah never leaves our side if we stick to Him.
