  • 1 - Woolly Mammoth

The giant mammoths lived in the Tundra Steppe or Mammoth steppe which is spread across Northern parts of Europe and Asia, and North America, from about 3 million years ago up until 10,000 years ago. The vast majority of Woolly mammoths died out at the end of the last ice age, about 10-11,000 years ago. But a small population of mammoths got trapped on Wrangel Island, in Russia, and continued to live there till 4000 years back.

Humans back then used to hunt the mammoths not just for food but also for their fur and tusks. Hunting, along with the climate change, led to the extinction of this majestic animal that once roamed the earth.
