- 54 - 53. The Anniversary Episode Part 2.
We thought we were going to finish our anniversary recap in one episode.
Spoiler alert: we did not.
Because apparently Patti and Meghan have 17 talking points, approximately zero ability to stay on topic, and far too much to say about heating pads, leadership, parenting, vacuums and getting older.
So welcome to Part Two of our anniversary episode.
This week, we're looking back at some of the conversations that made us laugh, cry, think, panic before hitting publish, and occasionally wonder whether we'd accidentally cancelled our own podcast.
We also get into one particular Reel that went a LOT further than we ever expected. What started as a little leadership gold nugget about asking your team, "Why are you asking me this?", turned into a much bigger conversation about leadership, assumptions, internet opinions, and the fact that apparently people can decide your entire personality based on 60 seconds of video.
And honestly? There was a lot to learn from that.
Then we disappear down the parenting rabbit hole, because obviously we do.
We talk about what we thought motherhood would be versus what it actually became, the parts of parenting our brains have conveniently deleted, watching our kids leave home, and the strange new world of empty nests, quieter houses and eating Kit Kats for dinner because, well, we're adults and we can do whatever we want.
We also have a very important conversation about getting older and becoming the people we used to make fun of.
Comfortable shoes? Suddenly fascinating.
Sleep? Extremely important.
Parking? Weirdly important.
Thermostats? A serious matter.
Vacuums? Don't even get us started.
And finally, we confess a few things from the CEO chair, including what we wish we'd known about leadership ten years ago, the mistakes we've both made, and the lesson that sometimes you can believe deeply in someone's potential while still recognizing that they aren't the right person for the role.
This episode covers: The podcast episodes that made us laugh, cry and think Why the "Permission to Pivot" and "Gift of Ordinary Days" conversations still stick with us The viral leadership clip that got people talking Why asking "Why are you asking me this?" can actually be a leadership question, not a judgment What motherhood looked like in our heads versus what it actually became The strange emotional shift when your kids start leaving home Why May-cember needs to be a thing, and why September deserves its own ridiculous name The things we suddenly care about now that we're older, including soft pants, comfortable shoes and cooling car seats What we wish we'd known about leadership ten years ago Learning to trust your gut, especially when something isn't working Why we've learned to put safeguards around our belief in people The hiring lessons we learned the hard wayAnd yes...
We're doing a Part Three.
Because apparently we still haven't made it through the list.
If you've been listening for a while, we'd love to know which episode has been your favourite so far.
And if you're newer around here, this is your sign to go back and have a little podcast binge. We've got plenty of conversations waiting for you.
Find us on Spotify, Apple Podcasts and YouTube, and come hang out with us for the next episode.
Coffee or tequila. You know the drill.
Fri, 18 Sep 2026 - 1h 08min - 53 - 52. The Anniversary Episode Part 1: 52 Episodes. Zero Bras. A LOT of Opinions.
🎉 ONE YEAR. FIFTY EPISODES. ZERO BRAS REQUIRED.
Well, friends... somehow we made it.
One whole year of No Bras Required.
Fifty episodes of business chats, parenting chaos, marriage complaints, menopause moments, leadership lessons, Costco love, questionable segues and enough unsolicited advice to keep us talking for approximately another 47 years.
Honestly, when we hit record on episode one, we had absolutely no idea what this little podcast would become.
We just knew two things:
- Patti and Meghan had a lot to say. Someone, somewhere, might need to hear it.
And apparently... you did.
In this first part of our anniversary celebration, we're looking back at where this whole thing started, what we've gotten right, what we've definitely gotten wrong, the conversations we never expected to have publicly and the moments that made us realise, "Oh wow, people are actually listening to us."
We revisit everything from the origin story of No Bras Required, to parenting teenagers, rescuing our kids too much, annoying husbands who breathe incorrectly, menopause rage, the invisible workload of women and the shocking realisation that comfortable shoes are now a personality trait.
We also talk about why this podcast has never fit neatly into one category.
Because neither do we.
We're business owners. We're mums. We're wives. We're friends. We're educators. We're navigating grief, aging parents, launching kids into adulthood, changing bodies, changing businesses and all the messy bits of real life in between.
And honestly?
That's kind of the whole point.
This podcast was never supposed to be polished perfection. It's supposed to feel like sitting down with two girlfriends in soft pants, coffee or tequila nearby, laughing about life and occasionally saying the thing everyone else is thinking but doesn't want to say out loud.
So grab your drink of choice and come celebrate with us.
Because this is only Part One... and trust us, we still have plenty to talk about.
IN THIS EPISODE, WE TALK ABOUT: 🎉 Celebrating one year and 50 episodes of No Bras Required 👯♀️ How the podcast name came to be and why it instantly felt like us 🎙️ What we thought this podcast would become... and why we intentionally didn't put it in a box 💬 The messages from listeners that remind us why these conversations matter 😂 What we've gotten right, including never being able to stay on one topic ⏰ What we've gotten wrong, mainly our complete inability to set a timer 🧠 The invisible workload women carry and why we need more grace for each other 💍 Marriage, annoying husbands, dishwasher arguments and seasons of romance 🛟 Why rescuing everyone isn't actually helping them 👩👧 Parenting teenagers and letting our kids learn how to adult 👵 The many things we're officially too old for, including uncomfortable jeans and standing at concerts ❤️ The deeper conversations we never expected to have about grief, death, parenting, mental health, money and identity 🎧 Why No Bras Required will probably never fit into one neat little category... and why we're perfectly okay with thatAnd don't worry, friends.
We're not done reflecting yet.
Part Two is coming next week, and we're diving even further into the viral moments, parenting, May-December and all the ways we've become the people we used to make fun of.
So stay tuned.
And as always...
Bras are optional. Soft pants are strongly encouraged.
Fri, 11 Sep 2026 - 1h 08min - 52 - 51. The September Reset for Mamas, CEOs, and Empty Nesters
September has arrived, and apparently everyone is supposed to magically have their life together.
Backpacks? Packed.
Lunchboxes? Somewhere.
Dance schedules? Hopefully.
Business plan? Definitely.
Emotional stability? Let's not get carried away.
In this episode of No Bras Required, Patti and Meghan are talking about the absolute juggle that is September, especially when you're a mum, a business owner, or both.
They chat about the chaos of back-to-school spending, becoming the family taxi service again, the mental load that changes as your kids get older, and the strange mix of pride and sadness that comes with sending your kids off into the world.
For Patti and Meghan, this September feels particularly different. Their kids are growing up, some have left home, and they're both discovering what this next season of motherhood actually looks like.
And then there's the business side.
September isn't just a fresh start for the kids. For many studio owners, it's the real beginning of the business year. It's time to get the team back into rhythm, execute the plans you made months ago, communicate clearly with families, and resist the temptation to try to do absolutely everything yourself.
Basically, it's a lot.
But underneath all the chaos is a really lovely reminder: sometimes the thing we're grieving is also the thing we worked so hard to create.
In this episode, we chat about: Why September can feel even more chaotic than December. The back-to-school juggle, including the never-ending expense of getting kids ready. The invisible mental load that changes as our children grow. The strange combination of relief, worry and freedom when your kids start driving. Why September is actually the start of the business year for many dance studios. The importance of planning your year ahead instead of constantly reacting. How good communication can make a huge difference to your studio families. Why parents need information in both big-picture and bite-sized formats. The emotional reality of becoming an empty nester. Learning that you can be incredibly proud of your kids while still grieving the version of motherhood that's changing. Rediscovering yourself, your relationship and your freedom when the kids need you differently. And, naturally, the possibility of puppies. The big takeawayYou don't have to choose between being excited about what's next and feeling sad about what's changing.
Both can be true.
Your kids can grow up, leave home and need you less in the everyday sense, while still needing your advice, your recipes, your support and, apparently, your homemade food.
And maybe this next season gets to be about you, too.
Fri, 04 Sep 2026 - 49min - 51 - 50. Stop Rescuing and Start Helping
There's a sentence every business owner has said at least 500 times:
"It would just be easier if I did it myself."
And honestly? Sometimes it WOULD be easier.
But if you keep jumping in to fix every problem, answer every question and rescue your team whenever something goes sideways, you're not actually helping them grow. You're teaching them that when things get hard, Mum Boss will come and sort it out.
In this episode, Patti and Meghan get into the difference between helping and rescuing, why leaders accidentally create dependence in their teams, and why giving people the opportunity to struggle, make mistakes and figure things out is one of the best things you can do for them.
They also get into the very human side of leadership, including assuming positive intent, having uncomfortable conversations, dealing with employee frustrations, and remembering that it's not personal.
And yes, there are stories involving mice, bodily fluids, a preschool recital pooper and a very unfortunate accidental text message. Because apparently this is what leadership looks like sometimes.
In this episode, we chat about: The difference between helping an employee and rescuing them Why answering every problem with a solution can actually hold your team back How asking better questions can help employees learn to think for themselves Why being open to someone else's way of doing things can make you a better leader How rescuing your team turns you into the bottleneck in your own business Why employees and leaders can easily misunderstand each other's roles The importance of assuming positive intent Why communication gaps often get filled with negative assumptions Creating a safe environment where your team can admit when they've messed up How to build independence, confidence and loyalty in your team Knowing when something needs to come up the leadership ladder And the very important question: Would you rather deal with puke or a loose tooth? A little challenge for youThe next time someone on your team brings you a problem, don't immediately solve it.
Try answering with a question:
"What have you tried?"
"Where are you stuck?"
"What solutions do you have?"
"What do you think we should do?"
You might be surprised by what happens when you give people the space to figure things out.
And remember...
Great leaders don't create followers, they create more leaders.
Fri, 28 Aug 2026 - 52min - 50 - 49. Your Ego Is Sitting In the CEO Chair
There are some leadership conversations that feel a little bit like holding a mirror up to yourself.
This is one of them.
This week, Patti and Meghan are getting very honest about the uncomfortable truths of leadership, especially when your ego starts sitting in the CEO chair.
Because sometimes, the problem isn't your staff.
Sometimes... it's you.
If your team needs your approval for every tiny decision, if you're constantly jumping in with "Never mind, I'll just do it," or if you need your idea to win every time, it might be time to take a good, hard look at how you're leading.
And before you get defensive, remember, Patti and Meghan are saying this with plenty of lived experience and a healthy dose of "we've absolutely made these mistakes too."
This episode is about learning to lead people based on what they actually need, rather than what makes you feel most comfortable.
In this episode, we chat about: 🚩 The signs your ego might be running your business, including micromanaging, needing to win and struggling to let other people make decisions. Why you should hire people who are better than you at the things you aren't great at, rather than feeling threatened by them. Different leadership styles, and why great leaders know when to be directive, collaborative or completely hands-off. Why talking less and listening more can completely change your team culture. How to spot the people who naturally step up as leaders, while making sure you don't burn out the same key players by leaning on them for everything. When your business has outgrown an employee's role, and why that doesn't automatically mean someone has failed. The uncomfortable truth about hiring friends, family and former students, and why the rose-coloured glasses have to come off when you're making business decisions. Why behaviour is a language, and why you need to pay attention when someone's actions don't match their words. The difference between "I have to be right" and "I have to get it right." And one simple question you can ask an employee this week: "What's one thing I could do that would help you do your job better?" Your leadership challenge this weekAsk one person on your team:
"What's one thing I could do that would help you do your job better?"
And then comes the really hard part.
Don't defend yourself. Don't explain. Don't justify. Just listen.
You might be surprised by what you hear.
And if you're wondering whether you're actually leading your team or accidentally rescuing, micromanaging or holding them back, send Patti and Meghan a message. They might just give you the Meghan and Patti version, complete with the sassy answer and the HR-appropriate one.
Fri, 21 Aug 2026 - 1h 08min - 49 - 48. I Don't Actually Need You To Like Me
There comes a point where you realise something slightly uncomfortable...
You don't actually need everyone to like you.
And honestly? What a relief.
In this episode of No Bras Required, Patti and Meghan get right into the messy middle of leadership, motherhood, boundaries, people pleasing and the pressure women feel to be agreeable, helpful and, above all, liked.
They talk about what happens when you stop trying to make everyone comfortable and start making decisions based on your values instead.
Because being kind doesn't mean saying yes to everything.
Being supportive doesn't mean being available 24/7.
And being a good leader definitely doesn't mean everyone gets to like you.
There are plenty of laughs along the way, including stories about mansplaining menopause, children investigating bathroom activities, angry dance parents, Valentine's Day drama and the occasional "did I stutter?" parenting moment.
But underneath all the laughs is a pretty powerful message:
You don't need to be liked. You need to lead.
In this episode, we chat about: Why women can get caught in the "likability trap", especially when they step into leadership. How we're taught from a young age that assertive boys are leaders while assertive girls can be labelled "bossy." The difference between being nice and being kind, and why kindness sometimes requires an uncomfortable conversation. Why boundaries aren't selfish, whether you're a mum, teacher, studio owner or business leader. How constantly bending the rules creates expectations you might eventually resent. Why your team needs to know what your non-negotiables are, while still being given room to make mistakes and learn. The difference between avoiding conflict and practising compassion. Why "being liked" should never be the KPI you're using to measure your leadership. How to approach difficult conversations as opportunities to practise your leadership skills. Why asking "Who does this serve?" can completely change the way you make decisions. This week's challengeWe're giving you a slightly uncomfortable homework assignment.
Have the conversation you've been avoiding.
Think it through. Write down what you want to achieve. Consider how the other person might respond. Get clear on your boundaries and your desired outcome.
Then have the conversation.
It might not go perfectly.
But avoiding it isn't making the problem disappear.
And remember:
"I don't need to be liked. I need to lead."
Fri, 14 Aug 2026 - 1h 22min - 48 - 47. Uncomfortable Leadership Truths: Are You Asking Me…or Are You Asking Permission?
Are You Asking Me… Or Asking for Permission?
One little leadership question. Half a million views. Hundreds of angry comments. And one very important conversation.
This week, Patti and Meghan unpack the viral reel that had the internet divided after Patti suggested asking employees one simple question:
"Do you need information, or are you asking for permission?"
Turns out, that struck a nerve.
In this episode, they dig into why so many employees struggle to make decisions, how micromanagement quietly destroys confidence, and why leaders often become the biggest bottleneck in their own business without even realising it.
Whether you're leading a dance studio, a school, or any small business, this conversation is all about building people who think for themselves instead of waiting to be told what to do.
Along the way, Patti and Meghan share lessons they've learned the hard way, plenty of parenting parallels, and a few stories that prove leadership is never boring.
In this episode, we chat about: Why the viral reel upset so many people, and what was actually meant by "go check your job description." The difference between asking for information and asking for permission. How micromanagement trains people to stop thinking for themselves. The hidden cost of becoming the bottleneck in your own business. Why empowering your team starts with better systems and better onboarding. What parenting teenagers has to teach us about leadership. Why confidence grows every time someone is trusted to make a decision. How to know whether your team needs more training, more clarity, or simply more trust. The importance of hiring people who align with your values instead of just impressive résumés. Why being liked isn't actually part of the leadership job description. This Week's Leadership ChallengeThe next time someone brings you a decision they've always asked you to make...
Don't answer.
Instead, ask:
"What do you think?"
You might be surprised by the confidence, ownership, and leadership you start building in your team.
Favourite Quote"Confidence grows every time someone is trusted to make a decision."
If this episode resonated...We'd love to hear from you.
Have you ever realised you were the bottleneck in your business? Or have you worked for a boss who made you ask permission for everything?
Come join the conversation and let us know. We genuinely love hearing your stories, your wins, and yes, even the respectful disagreements.
And if this episode made you think of another studio owner, business owner, or leader who needs to hear it, send it their way.
We'll be back next week as we continue our leadership series with another uncomfortable truth:
Apparently, being liked isn't in the job description either.
Coffee or tequila... we'll let you decide. ☕🍹
Fri, 07 Aug 2026 - 1h 09min - 47 - 46. CEO Summer Camp: Graduation & Leadership
🎓 CEO Summer Camp Graduation Day Is Here!
You made it.
You survived recital season, registration, summer planning, and about 47,000 "quick questions" that definitely weren't quick.
Now it's time to stop surviving your business and start leading it.
In this final CEO Summer Camp episode, Patti and Meghan walk you through everything you've learned over the past month. From communication and systems to leadership, culture, delegation and mindset, this episode is your chance to reflect, celebrate your progress, and intentionally design the season ahead.
You'll rate yourself as a CEO, uncover the one area that deserves your focus next, and learn why the most successful studio owners aren't necessarily the busiest ones.
Because building a thriving studio isn't about doing more. It's about creating a business that supports your life instead of consuming it.
So grab your notebook (and maybe another iced coffee), because graduation day comes with one last piece of homework that just might change the way you lead your studio this year.
In this episode we chat about: Reflecting on your CEO growth over the summer. Why communication, systems and culture are the foundation of a healthy studio. The CEO scorecard that helps you identify your biggest opportunity for growth. What every successful leader chooses to eliminate before adding something new. How to recognise "gravity problems" and stop wasting energy fighting them. Why sustainability matters more than endless growth. Designing how you want your season to feel, not just how many students you want. A powerful future-self exercise to revisit during recital week. This week's challengeWrite a letter to your future self.
Seal it away and don't open it until recital week is over.
Write about:
The leader you want to become. What you want your staff and families to experience. The habits you're leaving behind. Three non-negotiables you'll protect all season.Future you will thank you.
If this episode encouraged you, we'd love it if you'd subscribe, leave a review, and share it with your favourite studio owner friend.
Remember...
Run your business.
Don't let your business run you.
Fri, 31 Jul 2026 - 46min - 46 - 45. CEO Summer Camp: Culture Is Not Pizza Parties
Culture gets talked about a LOT in business.
We all want a great culture. We want people to feel valued, supported, and part of something bigger. We want happy teams, happy families, happy dancers, and ideally, nobody sending spicy emails at 11pm.
But here's the thing...
Culture isn't your mission statement. It's not your matching team hoodies. It's not the pizza party.
Culture is what happens when nobody's watching.
In this episode of CEO Summer Camp, we're getting into the sometimes uncomfortable truth that your culture is what you tolerate.
If you say accountability matters but nobody is ever held accountable, accountability isn't actually part of your culture.
If you say teamwork matters but one person is constantly creating drama and nothing happens, you've made drama part of the culture.
And if you keep avoiding those difficult conversations because you don't want to hurt someone's feelings, you might actually be creating a much bigger problem.
Patti and Meghan chat about what culture really looks like inside a dance studio, how to set clear expectations, why difficult conversations are actually an act of kindness, and why the people you hire become the culture you create.
Plus, there are some very honest hiring red flags, including the legendary phone book interview test. 😂
In this episode, we talk about: Why culture is built through repeated behaviours, not speeches or mission statements How to define what success, professionalism, and communication actually look, sound, and feel like Why clear expectations aren't harsh, they're kind How standards create consistency across your team Why avoiding difficult conversations can create resentment and bigger problems How your culture really shows up when things go wrong and everyone's under pressure Why "we're a family" might not always be the best language for your studio How to make your team feel valued through small, everyday acts of recognition Why your employees want growth, feedback, development, and to know their voice matters How hiring the wrong person can slowly change your culture Why you should hire slow and fire fast How exit surveys can reveal what's really happening inside your studio Why the standard you walk past is the standard you've accepted Your CEO Summer Camp homeworkThis week's challenge is simple.
Choose one team member and intentionally recognise them.
Not because they saved the day.
Not because it's Employee Appreciation Day.
Not because they exceeded every expectation.
Just because.
Be specific. Tell them what they did, why it mattered, and how it impacted you or the team.
Because culture isn't built during annual reviews.
It's built in the everyday moments.
And if there's a difficult conversation you've been avoiding?
Yep. That one too.
Go have it.
Then order yourself a pizza afterwards. You deserve it. 🍕
Fri, 24 Jul 2026 - 57min - 45 - 44. CEO Summer Camp: Systems That Create Freedom
CEO Summer Camp is back, and this week's lesson might just be the one that changes your business forever.
Quick question...
If you disappeared for two weeks tomorrow, what would break first?
If your answer is "everything," you're definitely not alone.
In this episode, Patti and Meghan dive into one of the biggest mindset shifts every studio owner has to make. Moving from being the person who does everything to becoming the CEO who builds systems that allow the business to run without them.
Because here's the truth. Freedom doesn't come from working harder. It comes from creating systems that remove you as the bottleneck.
They share the lessons they've learned through years of trial and error, from growing studios, hiring teams, making mistakes, fixing broken processes, and finally building businesses that don't depend on them being available 24/7.
You'll also hear some hilarious "Hot Mess Express" moments, practical ideas you can implement immediately, and one simple leadership question that completely transformed Patti's team.
If you've ever packed your laptop "just in case" for a holiday, answered staff texts at midnight, or felt guilty stepping away from your business, this episode is for you.
In this episode we chat about: Why becoming the bottleneck is keeping your studio from growing. The difference between giving your team permission versus giving them information. Simple systems every dance studio should already have, including onboarding, staff training, registration, finances and parent communication. How to stop answering the same questions over and over again. Why your business should still run if you get "hit by a bus." Patti's story of growing from 47 students to more than 300, and the systems that made it possible. The hidden cost of decision fatigue and why leaders need to stop trying to be everything to everyone. This week's CEO Summer Camp homeworkChoose one task that steals your time every single week.
Document it.
Record yourself doing it.
Turn it into a Standard Operating Procedure.
Train someone else to own it.
One system today creates more freedom tomorrow.
Because your goal isn't to become better at doing everything.
It's to build a business that doesn't need you for everything.
We'll see you next week for another CEO Summer Camp lesson!
Fri, 17 Jul 2026 - 1h 04min - 44 - 43. CEO Summer Camp: Communication Fixes Everything
Communication Clarity That Reduces Parent Confusion
Ever feel like you spend 45 minutes writing the world's most detailed email, only to have someone ask the exact question you answered in the subject line?
Yep. We've been there too.
In this week's CEO Summer Camp episode, Patti and Meghan are tackling one of the least glamorous, but most important, skills every studio owner needs to master, communication.
Because here's the truth. Most of the headaches we deal with aren't actually people problems. They're communication problems.
From parent emails and staff conversations to expectations that live only in our own heads, we're unpacking the small changes that create much bigger clarity for everyone.
If you've ever caught yourself thinking, "Why aren't they listening?" this episode might completely change the way you look at communication.
In this episode we chat about: Why most studio frustrations start with unclear communication, not difficult people. The biggest mistake owners make when they assume everyone already knows the plan. Why parents often miss information, even when you've already sent it. How repetition actually builds trust instead of annoying people. The importance of communicating the "why", not just the "what". Why simple, clear messages almost always beat long, detailed explanations. How improving communication reduces stress for you, your staff, and your families. Practical ways to create systems that stop confusion before it starts.Communication isn't about saying something once. It's about making sure people actually understand it.
Grab your coffee, or your tequila, and join us for another CEO Summer Camp lesson that could save you hours of answering the same questions over and over again.
Fri, 10 Jul 2026 - 1h 00min - 43 - 42. CEO Summer Camp: Audit Before You Add

This week we're kicking off our CEO Summer Camp series with a challenge that might surprise you. Instead of adding more to your already overflowing plate, we're asking you to hit pause and take a good look at what's already there.
Because sometimes the biggest growth comes from letting go.

Fri, 03 Jul 2026 - 58min - 42 - 41. The Pressure To Fit In
Helping Kids Cope With Fitting In Pressure
Remember when peer pressure meant someone offering you a cigarette behind the bowling alley? Things have changed... a lot.
This week Patti and Meghan dive into what it's really like raising kids in a world where social media never sleeps, friendships are constantly on display, and fitting in can feel like a full-time job. From Snapchat streaks to friendship drama, online comparison and the pressure to be someone you're not, this is an honest conversation about helping our kids navigate today's social world without losing themselves.
It's not about blaming technology or wishing for "the good old days." It's about understanding what our kids are facing and learning how we can stay connected, supportive and present through it all.
In this episode we chat about: Why peer pressure looks completely different today. How social media has changed childhood and friendships. Why comparison is becoming one of the biggest challenges for young people. The hidden impact of popularity culture on confidence and mental health. Practical ways parents can build resilience instead of perfection. Why connection at home matters more than having all the answers. Helping kids develop confidence that isn't based on other people's opinions. If today's conversation resonated with you, we'd love for you to share it with another parent who's navigating these same challenges. Sometimes just knowing you're not alone makes all the difference.
Fri, 26 Jun 2026 - 55min - 41 - 40. Anxious Kids, Exhausted Parents
If you've ever comforted your anxious child while secretly holding it together with caffeine, dry shampoo, and sheer determination, this episode is for you.
This week's chat is a big one. Patti and Meghan dive into the very real challenges of raising kids who seem to be carrying the weight of the world on their little shoulders, while parents are quietly trying not to unravel in the Costco parking lot.
Our kids are growing up in a completely different world than we did. They're constantly connected, endlessly stimulated, and dealing with pressures we never had at their age. Meanwhile, many of us were raised with a healthy dose of "suck it up, buttercup" and are now trying to parent with emotional awareness that we didn't experience ourselves.
No wonder we're all exhausted.
This episode is an honest, compassionate conversation about anxiety, overstimulation, emotional regulation, and how we can support our kids without losing ourselves in the process.
In this episode, we chat about: Why today's kids are experiencing anxiety differently than previous generations How social media and constant connection are impacting our children Why our generation sometimes struggles to understand our kids' emotional needs The pressure of parenting in a world we didn't grow up in What overstimulation looks like for children and parents Why boredom is actually important for creativity and emotional health How to support anxious kids without jumping straight into worst-case-scenario parenting Giving ourselves grace while learning to parent differently Mentioned in this episode:☕ Coffee may help. 🍷 Tequila may also help. 💛 Self-compassion is non-negotiable.
Listen now and tell us, have you ever found yourself trying to regulate your child's emotions while barely regulating your own? Because honestly, same.
Fri, 19 Jun 2026 - 1h 31min - 40 - 39. They're Not Too Young: The Conversations Parents Avoid Having
How to Talk to Kids About Safety, Social Media, and the Stuff We'd Rather Avoid
Let's be honest. Few things spike a parent's blood pressure faster than hearing, "Can I ask you something?" right before bedtime.
In this episode, Patti and Meghan tackle one of the toughest parts of parenting, having the conversations we know we need to have, but would happily avoid forever if we could.
From social media and vaping to peer pressure, online safety, mental health, and all the things our kids are exposed to much earlier than we'd like, this episode is a reminder that parenting isn't about having all the answers. It's about being the safe place your child can come when they need help.
The world our kids are growing up in looks very different from the one we knew. The goal isn't perfection. The goal is connection.
Grab your coffee (or tequila, we're not judging) and join us for a real conversation about raising kids in a world that moves faster than ever.
In This Episode We Discuss: Why kids are exposed to difficult topics much earlier than most parents realize The danger of assuming "my child would never" How to become the parent your child actually talks to Why staying calm matters more than having the perfect response Building trust before problems arise Creating a judgement-free space for honest conversations The importance of following through with boundaries and consequences Why avoiding hard conversations doesn't protect our kids, but connection does Key TakeawayYou don't need to be the perfect parent with the perfect answers.
You just need to be the parent who keeps showing up, keeps listening, and keeps making it safe for your kids to talk.

Fri, 12 Jun 2026 - 1h 16min - 39 - 38. Bodies, Ballet Buns & the Baggage We Carry
This week we're diving into a topic that's personal, complicated, emotional, and honestly, something almost every woman has wrestled with at some point: body image.
As dancers, dance studio owners, mums, and women who survived the low-rise jeans era, we've seen firsthand how body image can shape confidence, self-worth, and the way we move through the world.
We're talking about the messages we received growing up, the pressures today's kids face, and how the dance world can either build confidence or quietly chip away at it. We also share some honest stories about our own body image journeys, from dance class comparisons to learning (very slowly) that our bodies are not projects that need fixing.
If you've ever stood in front of a mirror and picked yourself apart, worried about what your child is absorbing from social media, or wondered how to help young people grow up with a healthier relationship with their bodies, this conversation is for you.
Grab your coffee, emotional support water bottle, or emergency chocolate stash. We're getting real.
In This Episode We Chat About: Growing up in the era of ultra-thin beauty standards How dance culture has evolved, for better and worse The impact of social media, filters, and comparison culture Why body image concerns are showing up younger than ever The difference between teaching technique and criticizing appearance The role parents and teachers play in shaping confidence How our own body image has changed through adulthood Why "what your body can do" matters more than how it looks Our Biggest TakeawayKids should leave dance class, sports practice, and life in general thinking about what their bodies accomplished, not what they need to change.
Mentioned In This Episode Dance culture and body image Social media's impact on confidence Eating disorder awareness Creating safe environments for kids Connect With UsIf this episode resonated with you, send it to a dance parent, studio owner, teacher, or friend who needs this conversation.

Fri, 05 Jun 2026 - 57min - 38 - 37. We're Too Old For This
This week on No Bras Required, Patti and Meghan are embracing the reality of midlife with zero shame and a whole lot of laughter.
We're talking about all the things we are officially too old for, not because we physically can't anymore, but because we spiritually refuse. Loud restaurants, uncomfortable jeans, late-night events, tiny menus, group chats with 97 notifications, bad pillows, and basically anything that requires effort after the bra comes off.
Somewhere between magnesium sprays, orthopedic shoes, robot vacuums named "The Hooker," and realizing naps are now essential for survival, we've entered the era of choosing comfort, convenience, and protecting our peace.
And honestly? We kind of love it here.
In this episode, we chat about:
Why soft pants are now a personality trait The emotional support pillow situation Why moms secretly love Costco The exhaustion Olympics and hustle culture burnout Midlife body surprises no one prepared us for The joy of cancelled plans Why "bad parking" can ruin an entire event Learning to age without shame and laugh through itThis episode is for every woman who's ever walked into a room and forgotten why, reheated the same coffee three times, or considered staying home because parking sounded stressful.

And if you cry folding laundry later, just know… same.

Welcome to Maycember… where everything is urgent, everyone is emotional, and no one has folded their laundry 😅
This week Patti and Meghan are deep in recital week, school chaos, and full-blown survival mode. From unplugging toilets at competitions to dragging kids across the graduation finish line, it's safe to say… we are NOT thriving.
But in between the exhaustion, there are also the moments that remind us why we do this, the growth, the pride, the community, and the kids who make it all worth it (even when they're feral).

Fri, 01 May 2026 - 1h 10min - 33 - 32. Building Your Support System As A Studio Owner
This episode starts exactly how you'd expect… chaos, comps, and a full breakdown of senior water wars (because apparently studio parking lots are now battlegrounds 😅).
But underneath the laughs, Patti and Meghan get real about something most studio owners quietly carry… loneliness.
Because here's the thing, you can be surrounded by dancers, parents, and staff all day long… and still feel like you're holding everything on your own.
They dive into the reality of leadership, the emotional weight of decision-making, and the tricky (and sometimes painful) dynamics with studio parents. Especially when boundaries get tested… or completely ignored.

And that's the part that really matters.
Fri, 17 Apr 2026 - 1h 07min - 31 - 30. When Passion Turns Personal: Let's Talk Parent-Coach Boundaries
Competition season is here… and so are the big feelings 😅
Between early mornings, fast food dinners, tight schedules, and high expectations, it's no wonder things can get a little… spicy. In this episode, we're diving into a topic every studio owner and dance parent has experienced but maybe doesn't talk about enough, when passion crosses the line.

This week… we said what we said.
If you've ever sat through a full day of dance comps wondering why every routine sounds like the same sad piano song… you're not alone 😅
In this episode, Patti and Meghan are diving headfirst into the competition world, not to bash it, but to pull back the curtain a little. Because while comps can be fun, exciting, and full of team bonding (hello hotel pool parties 👋), they're not the real world… and we need to stop treating them like they are.
From inflated scoring systems to unrealistic expectations, to the pressure we're unknowingly putting on kids, this is a real, honest chat about what actually matters in dance… and in life.
💛 Inside this episode:
Why "everyone gets a trophy" might be doing more harm than good The truth about judging, scoring, and why it's not always apples to apples What competitions don't prepare dancers for The real skills dancers need for auditions and careers The emotional and financial cost of competition culture Why technique, training, and adaptability matter more than tricks How to support your dancer without tying their worth to a score What kids will actually remember (hint: it's not the trophy)✨ Big takeaway: Competitions should be a tool, not the goal.
So whether you're a dance mum, studio owner, or raising a future performer, this episode is your reminder to zoom out and look at the bigger picture.
👉 Let your kids sparkle, yes… but also prepare them for real life.

Marriage, mood swings, and saying "not right now" on repeat

This week's episode is what happens when Patti and Meghan sit down with zero plan and a lot of feelings.
We started with hockey and somehow ended up at parenting, grit, deadlines, dance studio boundaries, and a cat who absolutely knew what he was doing.
But underneath the laughs and sarcasm, there's something real here.
We're talking about culture. About leadership. About why kids feel dysregulated. About why parents and teachers have to be on the same page. And about why protecting your energy might be one of the most important things you can do right now.
We don't fix the world in this episode. But we do talk about what starts at home… and inside your studio.
If you've ever:
Felt like kids can't handle feedback anymore
Been afraid to enforce boundaries because of parent pushback
Wondered why resilience feels rare

Fri, 27 Feb 2026 - 1h 15min - 24 - 23. Plan like a Queen and Handle your Business
This one's not sexy. It's not about side hustles or studio growth.
It's about the thing we all avoid thinking about… what happens if you're not here.
Before you skip this because it feels heavy, stay with us. This conversation isn't about fear. It's about leadership. It's about love. And it's about being the woman who handles her business like the queen she is.
We'll research an air fryer for three hours but won't spend 30 minutes making sure our kids aren't in legal chaos if something happens to us. So today we're talking wills, retirement, insurance, business planning, funeral wishes, and yes… the "if I get hit by a bus" folder.
Because planning for the future without you isn't pessimistic. It's protection.
In This Episode We Talk About:Why women must think differently about financial planning
The history that shaped how women show up in money conversations
Why "my husband handles it" is not a financial plan

This one's a big exhale.
If you've ever looked around your studio, full classes, busy recital nights, smiling families… and then gone home to stare at a credit card statement wondering why it still feels tight… this episode is for you.
This week we're joined by our dear friend Kim Fields, owner of Valley Dance Theater in Virginia, who shares the real story behind her studio turnaround. Not the highlight reel. The real one.
Kim talks about the ego check of closing a second location. The painful realization that cutting prices to "compete" was actually costing her everything. The years of working harder, not smarter. And how she went from financially stretched and exhausted to profitable, debt free, and finally able to breathe again.
We talk about:
Why pricing based on competitors is a dangerous game
The emotional cost of running a studio in survival mode
What it really looks like to audit your business
The trap of "artists shouldn't make money"

Fri, 13 Feb 2026 - 53min - 22 - 21. Money Habits And Hidden Fears
Money. Just reading that word might make you want to close the app, grab a latte, and pretend everything's fine.
This week on No Bras Required, Patti and Meghan kick off February's theme, Finding the Stronger You, by diving headfirst into something many women avoid like a haunted house, money.
This is not a budgeting lecture. No spreadsheets. No latte-shaming. And absolutely no "just stop spending" nonsense.
Instead, this episode is all about financial confidence, where it comes from, why so many women don't feel it, and how our relationship with money is deeply emotional, especially once motherhood enters the picture.
They unpack the money stories we inherited, the scarcity mindset so many of us grew up with, why avoidance isn't laziness, and how understanding money can actually be a safety issue for women.
If you've ever felt capable running a household, a studio, and everyone's emotional wellbeing, but totally overwhelmed by finances, this one's for you.
In this episode, we talk about:Why money reflects beliefs, fear, worth, and power, not just numbers
The real reason women avoid their banking apps
How upbringing and scarcity mindset shape spending habits
Why financial literacy is a safety issue for women
How motherhood adds pressure, guilt, and emotional weight to money
Teaching kids money confidence without shame
Why having any plan is better than avoiding it altogether
The first step toward financial confidence, awareness, not perfection
Homework for this week:No fixing. No judging. Just notice your money story and when emotions show up around spending.
Next week, Patti and Meghan dive into what financial confidence actually looks like, even when your numbers aren't perfect, and they welcome their first-ever podcast guest.
Bras optional. Awareness required.
Fri, 06 Feb 2026 - 1h 01min - 21 - 20. Becoming Her Means Letting them be Uncomfortable
Growth isn't quiet. It isn't polite. And it definitely doesn't keep everyone comfortable.
This week, Patti and Meghan are digging into the real, rarely talked about truth of personal growth, especially for mums, leaders, and women who are done playing small to keep the peace.
If you've ever been told "you've changed," felt guilty for setting boundaries, or noticed people pulling away the moment you got clearer, more confident, or more self-respecting, this episode is for you.
We're talking about the social cost of living boldly, why some people miss the old version of you, and how letting others be uncomfortable might be the most loving thing you can do for yourself and your kids.
This isn't about becoming cold or unkind. It's about choosing peace over performance, and self-respect over staying recognizable.
In this episode, we talk about:Why growth changes how people treat and respect you
The unspoken agreements women are expected to keep, and what happens when we break them
Why boundaries often get labelled as "attitude" or "being intimidating"
Losing relationships as a natural part of leadership and business growth
Modeling courage and self-respect for our kids
Why peace is a better measure of success than praise
Letting go of permission, approval, and over-explaining
If this episode hits a nerve, you're probably doing something right.
🎧 Listen now, and remember, bras are optional, but comfy pants are non-negotiable.
Fri, 30 Jan 2026 - 1h 20min - 20 - 19. Stop Waiting to Feel Different
Ever told yourself, "I'll do it when things settle down"… and then realised life literally never settles down?
Yeah. Same.
In this episode, Patti and Meghan call out one of the biggest lies women have been sold, that confidence, boldness, and clarity come before action. Spoiler alert, they don't. They come after you move.
This is not a habits episode. It's not about waking up earlier, drinking more water, or finding the perfect planner. It's about why waiting to feel ready keeps so many women stuck, and why the people you think are confident were scared too. They just went first.
From parenting triggers and flu karma, to quitting things you've outgrown, to how "self-improvement" can quietly become the world's prettiest hiding place, this one gets uncomfortably real.
If you've been telling yourself you're "not there yet", this episode might be the nudge you didn't know you needed.
In this episode, we talk about:
Why "when things calm down" is the biggest trap
How self-growth can turn into procrastination with better branding
The difference between preparing and hiding
Why confident people don't actually feel confident
Discomfort as a green light, not a warning sign
Parenting, leadership, and letting people struggle instead of rescuing them
Why you move first, then you feel different
🎧 Listen in, then tell us, what's the thing you've been waiting to do?
Fri, 23 Jan 2026 - 1h 06min - 19 - 18. Choosing Yourself Is A Skill (Not A Personality Trait)
If you've ever looked at another woman and thought, "I wish I could be more bold like her," this episode is your permission slip.
Because here's the truth, bold women weren't born ordering tequila and saying no with confidence. They practiced. And most of the time, it felt awkward, guilt-inducing, and uncomfortable as hell.
In this episode, Patti and Meghan dig into why being "reliable" is praised, but often punishes women quietly. We talk about guilt, fear, self-preservation, marriage seasons, parenting pressure, menopause moments, and why choosing yourself isn't selfish, it's learned.
No boundary scripts. No worksheets. Just honest conversation about what it actually looks like to live boldly when you've been trained to stay small.
In this episode, we cover:
Why boldness is a skill, not a personality trait
How guilt shows up when you start choosing yourself
The "reliable woman trap" and why busy women get asked for more
Why bold women are often quiet, not attention-seeking
How fear doesn't disappear, it just stops running the show
Seasons of life, marriage, motherhood, and letting things "wither" on purpose
Why your kids learn self-worth by watching your actions, not your words
If this episode hit a nerve, it's probably because you're already practicing boldness, even if it doesn't feel pretty yet.

Fri, 16 Jan 2026 - 1h 03min - 18 - 17. Bold Moves, Quiet Doubt
This episode hits right in the gut, in the best way.
Patti and Meghan are talking about living boldly, not because the fear goes away, but because you learn how to live with it. This is not a "just be confident" episode. This is a real conversation about self-doubt, fear, people-pleasing, hard decisions, and why waiting to feel ready is usually what keeps us stuck.
They dig into why women are taught to play small, how fear shows up in business and parenting, and why some of the hardest decisions end up being the ones we regret not making sooner. From setting boundaries, letting people go, raising resilient kids, and redefining what success actually looks like, this episode is packed with perspective, laughs, and a few "oh wow, that's me" moments.
If you've been sitting on a decision because it feels uncomfortable, not impossible, this one's for you.
In this episode, we talk about:
Why fear never fully goes away, and why that's okay
The difference between being nice and being kind
How women are conditioned to play small, and how to stop
Making hard decisions in business and parenting
Teaching kids that failure is part of growth
Why clarity only comes after action
Redefining success on your own terms

Fri, 09 Jan 2026 - 1h 08min - 17 - 16. How to make sure your January goals don't become February forgottens
Happy New Year, friends, and welcome to our first episode of 2026. 🥂 We're kicking things off exactly how we do best, with honesty, humour, tequila ice cubes, and a big reality check around New Year's resolutions.
If you've ever gone into January feeling motivated, organized, and ready to become a brand new human, only to crash back into real life by mid-month, this episode is for you. We're breaking down why most resolutions fail, why it has nothing to do with laziness or willpower, and what actually works instead.
This is a no guilt, no "new year, new me" conversation. It's about building systems, choosing goals that matter to you, letting go of the ones that don't, and giving yourself grace when life inevitably shows up.
We also dive into parenting, goal setting for kids, accountability without shame, and why supporting your kids does not mean saving them from every uncomfortable moment.
In this episode, we chat about:
Why January motivation fades and what to do instead
The difference between resolutions and real, achievable goals
How accountability partners and systems beat willpower every time
Why small, boring consistency always wins over big dramatic plans
Letting go of guilt, perfectionism, and the all-or-nothing mindset
Helping kids set goals without crushing confidence or taking over
Why struggle is actually required to build confidence
Creating goals that add joy, connection, and fun, not pressure
As always, we're here to remind you that you don't need to overhaul your personality this year. You're building habits, not becoming someone else.
✨ Tell us: What's one goal you're leaning into this year, and one thing you're finally letting go of?

Fri, 02 Jan 2026 - 1h 08min - 16 - 15. 2025 In Review
Before we sprint into a new year with fresh planners, big goals, and wildly unrealistic expectations, we're hitting pause.
In this episode, Patti and Meghan sit down for an honest, unfiltered year-in-review. The highs that made it all worth it, the lows that knocked the wind out of us, and the lessons that shaped who we're becoming next.
We talk studio wins, parenting milestones, exhaustion we didn't plan for, moments we showed up when we absolutely did not want to, and why reflection matters way more than rushing forward.
If you're tired, proud, grateful, overwhelmed, and hopeful all at the same time, this one's for you.
In this episode, we chat about:Celebrating big and small studio wins without brushing them off
Parenting moments that make you stop and go, wow, we did okay
Showing up when you're running on fumes
Why culture matters more than perfection
Protecting your peace as a business owner and human
Letting lows become data, not shame
Finding humour, joy, and mischief even in heavy seasons
Take a breath, grab your coffee or tequila, and reflect with us.
Fri, 26 Dec 2025 - 1h 10min - 15 - 14. Giving Yourself Permission To Breathe
December is basically the Olympics for mums. The events never end, there's no medal ceremony, and somehow you're the athlete, the coach, the organiser, the snack provider, and the emotional support human for everyone else.
In this episode, Patti and Meghan are talking about what December really feels like. The invisible load. The emotional overdraft. The rage cleaning. The fantasies about checking into a hotel alone with snacks and silence. And most importantly, how to give yourself permission to breathe without guilt.
This is your reminder that you're not failing, you're overloaded. And that rest isn't lazy, it's leadership.
In this episode, we chat about:Why December hits mums so hard and why it's not your fault
The invisible holiday workload nobody sees but you feel
How breathing can actually reset your nervous system (and it's cheaper than tequila)
Letting go of perfection, festive crime scenes included
Why "done is better than perfect" needs to be your December mantra
Simple ways to recharge when your battery is stuck at 3 percent
Why getting in the photos matters more than how you look
Pour yourself a coffee, or a tequila, we don't judge, and take a breath with us. You are enough, even in December.
Fri, 19 Dec 2025 - 46min - 14 - 13. How to Handle Difficult People Without Losing Your Christmas Spirit
This week, we're talking about those people. The stressed stranger in Target. The family member who thinks your emotional bandwidth is an unlimited data plan. The studio parent who forgot to read the email (again). Basically, anyone who might make you consider a brief but meaningful stay in orange.
Patti and Meghan dig into why everyone is one candy cane away from a full meltdown in December, how not to absorb other people's emotional tornadoes, and simple one-liners you can use to pivot away from awkward conversations or unsolicited life feedback.
This episode is warm, funny, and very real. Grab your coffee… or your tequila.
What we chat about:Why December turns fully functional adults into overtired toddlers
How lack of sleep, sugar, overloaded schedules, and unrealistic expectations break our brains
Scripts for dealing with boundary-bypassers at family gatherings
How to emotionally "unsubscribe" from other people's meltdowns
The moment when throwing a slice of cheese at someone becomes tempting
Studio parents who unload everything but their child's dance bag
The four difficult-person archetypes and how to handle each one
Simple phrases to hold your peace with kindness and confidence
If this episode made you laugh or breathe easier, share it with a friend who needs a holiday sanity check.
Fri, 12 Dec 2025 - 52min - 13 - 12. The Gift Of Ordinary Days
This week, Patti and Meghan get a little cozy, a little nostalgic, and - surprise - a little emotional as they explore the gift hiding in our ordinary days. From laundry rooms and lost baby photos to toddlers with questionable attitudes and teenagers who only call on WiFi, this conversation is a gentle nudge to slow down and savor the stuff we rush through.
We're talking car rides, cereal spills, tuck-ins, dance-studio drives, and all the tiny moments that somehow become the ones we miss the most. It's a big-sister reminder that "someday" is a scam, the chaos won't last forever, and the ordinary is actually where life happens.
In this episode:
Why "someday" thinking steals our joy
The baby-book guilt we all carry
What kids remember most (and it's probably not what you think)
Letting ourselves rest and resisting busy culture
Rediscovering connection with older teens
Slowing down enough to actually enjoy December
How both studios are teaching gratitude in meaningful ways
The line that might become your new life mantra: "Ordinary days are the chapters that write our legacy."
Need a moment of stillness? Pop your earbuds in, grab your coffee (or your tequila), and listen in. This one feels like a hug.
Fri, 05 Dec 2025 - 1h 07min - 12 - 11. How To Not Lose Your S#!t In December
December is twinkly and magical… until it isn't. Between studio shows, exams, shopping, sick kids, forgotten batteries, and the 900 events we somehow get roped into, the holidays can feel less "Merry & Bright" and more "Holding On By a Glitter-Covered Thread."
In this hilarious AND heartfelt episode, Patti and Meghan unpack the real-life chaos of Christmas as mums, dance studio owners, and women who juggle all the plates while simmering in equal parts cocoa, love, resentment, and nostalgia.
They share their own stories (including candlestick disappointments, 2am bun-making, sibling sarcasm, and the curse of the elf), plus practical shifts you can make to have a calmer, more intentional, semi-retired-from-your-life holiday season.
It's honest, funny, and exactly what you need before the December madness hits.
What we talk about: • Why moms experience Christmas like a full production launch • The emotional breakdown point that bun-making can cause • Gifts that missed the mark… and the ones we secretly still want • The seven-tree Christmas situation at Meghan's house • Letting go of perfection and actually enjoying your kids • Studio traditions that make the season magical • What holiday "success" really looks like • The ONE thing you can let go of this year without guilt
YOUR job: • Tag your fellow hot-mess Christmas warrior • Pour your drink of choice (coffee… tequila… we don't judge) • Follow us on Instagram @nobrasrequiredpod
Fri, 28 Nov 2025 - 1h 26min - 11 - 10. Unplugged: Phone, Screens & Presence
This week, Patti and Meghan are admitting the thing most of us won't say out loud… we are way too attached to our phones. Between the studio emails, family group texts, and "just one more scroll" before bed, being present feels like a full-time job.
In this real, funny, and sometimes painfully honest chat, they unpack how our devices are quietly stealing our attention, how our kids are mirroring our habits, and what it means to rebuild genuine connection — one unplugged moment at a time.
In this episode:
The morning doom-scroll (and the fuzzy-socks confession)
The "notification personality test" — are you a zero inboxer or a 6,000+ unread kinda gal?
How our kids are watching our screen habits closer than we think
The school no-phone revolution (and why it's both awkward and amazing)
Raising phone-smart, kind humans in a tech-heavy world
The "red light rule" for car chats and screen-free rituals that actually work
Why the goal isn't no screens… it's more presence
🎧 Listen in and share your screen-free ritual — tag @nobrasrequiredpod and tell us what's working for you. Let's make being present the new flex.
Fri, 21 Nov 2025 - 1h 08min - 10 - 9. Permission to Pivot
This week, Patti and Meghan are swapping their bras for boundaries and their tight pants for soft ones as they dive deep into the art of pivoting—in business, in motherhood, and in life.
They get real about what happens when the version of you from your twenties can't carry you through your forties, the pressure to "do it all," and how growth sometimes looks like fewer friends, less hustle, and more naps.
With stories about bruised glutes, soft pants, and surprise career twists, this one's equal parts funny and freeing.
In this episode:How to know when it's time to pivot (and why it's not "giving up")
Why women hit 40 and suddenly stop caring about matching Tupperware
"Weeding the garden": the power of unfollowing and un-friending for peace
When your business or career takes an unexpected turn (and how to roll with it)
Why it's sexy to have boundaries, not abs
The joy of soft pants, small circles, and saying "no" with love
How to honour who you've become without apologizing for it
Grab your coffee (or your tequila) and settle in. Because this one's all about giving yourself permission to pivot—no bras required.

Fri, 14 Nov 2025 - 1h 13min - 9 - 8. The Invisible Workload of Women
This week Patti and Meghan are talking about the real mental and emotional load that women carry every single day: from remembering every dentist appointment and lost sock to being the only one who can replace the toilet paper roll.
They're digging into the invisible labor that keeps families, businesses, and lives running, and how it quietly drains us until one day we're hurling canned goods out the car window or rage-cleaning the kitchen with a tequila in hand.
Expect laughs, honesty, and a few too-real confessions (looking at you, unflushed toilets and Spirit Week costumes).
In this episode:
Why moms carry 100 open "tabs" in their brains at all times
The resentment that sneaks in when no one else notices the invisible work
How multitasking shows up as burnout (and sometimes rage)
The emotional weight of "if I don't do it, no one will"
What we've stopped caring about (and why that's healthy)
The power of a good laugh, a housekeeper, and tequila therapy
Our idea for a "We Survived Spirit Week" mom night out 🍸

Fri, 07 Nov 2025 - 1h 06min - 8 - 7. Raising Kids Who Won't Quit
It's been a week, friends. Between sore thighs, sneezing workouts, and rocket-fuel sinus drops (yes, really), Patti and Meghan are back to tackle a big one: raising kids who don't quit.
In a world where "I'm bored" turns into "I quit" in five seconds flat, how do we help our kids develop grit? The girls dig into why kids are struggling with resilience, how parents accidentally enable it, and what we can do to help kids—and ourselves—get a little tougher.
You'll laugh, nod, and maybe even rethink your approach to soccer season and school projects.
What's inside this episode:
Why "don't quit on your worst day" still matters.
The difference between quitting and redirecting.
Why kids today are overwhelmed but mastering nothing.
The "three days, three weeks, three months" rule of perseverance.
What's really going on in your child's class (and how to talk to teachers without losing your cool).
How to model resilience (even when your thighs hurt and the toilet seat's up again).
Bonus: potty-training hacks involving Cheerios. You're welcome.
👉 Listen now for a laugh, a little truth, and a reminder that you're doing better than you think.
Fri, 31 Oct 2025 - 1h 26min - 7 - 6. Bless Their Hearts, They're Having "The Talk"
This week, Patti and Meghan tackle one of the most awkward parenting rites of passage: The Talk.
From accidentally terrifying toddlers with farm animal births to mortifying school phone calls ("Mrs. Johnston, your son is fact-checking anatomy in class…"), the girls are spilling everything about how to navigate that conversation with humor, honesty, and maybe a little wine.
They dig into why "The Talk" should actually be a series of talks, how to use real language (no "front bums," please), and how to layer in family values without shame. It's awkward, it's funny, and it's full of the kind of "yep, been there" moments that will make every mom breathe a little easier.
In this episode:
The cringe-worthy (and hilarious) ways kids learn about sex
Why one child thought Patti "pooped him out"
The importance of honest, age-appropriate answers
How to add family values to what schools don't teach
Talking consent, safety, and emotional readiness
Why "The Talk" should never be a one-time TED Talk
A few too-real lessons in what not to say
⚠️ Listener note: This episode isn't one for carpool - unless you're ready for follow-up questions from the back seat.
Thu, 23 Oct 2025 - 1h 22min - 6 - 5. The Mom In The Mirror
Ever catch your reflection and think, "Who's that woman raising humans today?" The one with the messy bun, smudged shirt, and that look that says "Don't test me, I'm hanging by a coffee thread."
This week, Patti and Meghan are serving up an episode full of laughter, nostalgia, and the kind of real talk that only two tired, wise, and slightly feral dance-studio mums could deliver.
They cover everything from parenting fails and hilarious kid quotes to body image, self-talk, and the moments our children teach us what resilience really looks like.
It's honest, funny, heartfelt - and might make you want to call your mom and apologize.
In this episode:
Why our kids are tiny parrots with perfect comedic timing
Parenting fails that turned into life lessons (hello, socks in the lunchbox)
How we accidentally become our mothers (and kinda love it)
Raising confident kids in a comparison-filled world
Modeling healthy self-talk and body image
Letting kids see our mistakes - and how we fix them
A gentle parenting challenge you'll actually want to try
🎧 Listen now - and remember: bras are optional, but kindness is mandatory.

They share the unfiltered truth about parenting, teaching, running studios, and trying to take care of everyone (including yourself). What "rest" actually looks like for busy moms
The art of the 8-minute car concert therapy
Balancing teacher-parent relationships with empathy

Fri, 10 Oct 2025 - 1h 06min - 4 - 3. Stop "Shoulding" All Over Everything
This week we're getting raw and real about something that's draining so many entrepreneurs: building a business that doesn't actually line up with your own values.
Ever feel like you're running your biz on autopilot - doing things "the way it's always been done" - and wondering why you're exhausted, unfulfilled, or even resentful of the very business you created? Been there.
In this episode, Patti and Meghan unpack:
How we realised our businesses were running on old blueprints that didn't serve us anymore.
What happened when we stopped chasing "shoulds" and started building around our actual values.
Why burnout isn't always about overwork - sometimes it's about misalignment.
The tough (but freeing) process of redefining our programs, policies, and priorities.
The power of clarity: when your staff, students, and parents know what you stand for, everything shifts.
If you've ever felt stuck in the cycle of "more, more, more" but less and less joy, this conversation is your permission slip to pause, re-evaluate, and dare to do things differently.

This isn't a Pinterest-perfect guide. It's the truth about cereal-for-dinner, teenage meltdowns, and how to actually build resilience in your kids when they'd rather just quit. Whether you're a parent, teacher, or coach, you'll find both the comic relief and the encouragement you need to tackle a new school year.
We chat about:
