Alongside her parents, she helped prepare and serve meals to the homeless community in her hometown of Buffalo, New York. Listen to this weeks episode of The G Code as we talk with Chris Bishop founder of High Klass Hair who believes there is no such thing as plan B!
Christina Bishop’s passion for hair began at a very young age. She would sit in her neighborhood salon and and just watch as the hair stylists made their clients beautiful. She would then go home and practice on her dolls and her little sister. While in high school she went from practicing on dolls and family members to getting paid for her work. By the time she finished high school she had a full clientele. After high school she went to New York City to study forensic science at Pace University, but the beauty industry was still calling her.
At the age of 22, after countless attempts to ignore her calling, Chris decided to take a leap of faith and follow her passion. She returned to Buffalo and in 2007 and attended the Salon Professional Academy part-time all while studying at Buffalo State College full-time. In 2009 Chris not only graduated from the academy she also obtained a bachelor’s degree in Human Relations with a focus in Business Management. Upon graduation Chris worked at Excellence Hair Design, Buffalo, under Master Stylist Latisha Brice. There she put all of her training to the test and again built a full clientele. Her objective however began to shift towards entrepreneurship.
In 2012 Chris launched a successful virgin hair extension company calling it HighKlass Hair and in 2013 she opened her first salon, HighKlass Hair Boutique Salon, which focused on healthy hair care, in Buffalo’s Elmwood Village. It was a success and her clientele quickly outgrew the space. In 2014 Christina decided it was time to take her business to the next level. She needed a bigger space and wanted something fresh in the city that she calls home, while on vacation she discovered it would be a Weavebar. In July of 2015, Christina open her second salon calling it HighKlass Hair Weavebar located in Buffalo’s Allentown district. Christina added to her original concept of healthy hair and incorporated a $50 sew-in concept because she began to recognize that clients were leaving weaves in for unhealthy amounts of time simply because they wanted to get their “money’s worth.” At HKH Weavebar clients are offered sew-ins at a less expensive rate while all other services are a la cart. The idea is that clients would not leave weaves in for long periods of time so they could get their hair treated more frequently which allows them to properly wear weave.
Christina’s mission is to provide a full service salon that is affordable for all women and children. Chris takes pride in her motto “I love healthy hair,” she also takes pride in encouraging, mentoring, and teaching young ladies how to live a lifestyle with “KLASS.” In her spear time, Christina enjoys attending community events and giving back to the community. In August of 2015, Christina was recognized by “Women in The Spotlight Going Global” for all that she has done ...Wed, 17 Aug 2016 - 25min

Every Wednesday experience the unlocking of secretes to success, how to handle the worst and the best life throws at you. Get past The Pretty ; the glitz and the glam that many see on social media. The Ugly; the bed rock beginnings and hard times that are difficult that make you question your path. The Grind; the hustle the sleepless nights that no one see’s which develops The G Code’s; life lessons which fosters Success. Get ready for The G Code. Unlocking all Go Getta codes to success
This week on The G Code I got to interview the Award winning producer, professional Drummer, Music Director Antwan “Amadeus” Thompson.
The attractive intersection of E 169 St. and Washington Ave. in Bronx, NY lured countless young men into unfit committed relationships with its corners. Producer/Music Director/Executive Antwan “Amadeus” Thompson, Chief Executive Officer of Platinum Boy Music Inc., was the one who got away.
Thompson's parents forebode him from getting close with the landmark, a protective gesture he didn't agree with at the time. Today Thompson has built a success-filled, multi-platinum selling career thanks to his productive commitment to creating music. He understands his parents keeping him from that cross-section allowed him to span the globe, achieving a great deal more than territorial street credibility.
To the recording industry Thompson is always posted at the intersection of personal and professional respect, coupled with bankable audio mastery, it’s the reason he is one of the most sought-after producers in the recording industry today. “Creating music for the world is one of the most exciting accomplishments for me, and just seeing people love and appreciate your music,” he says.
The best artists and companies today express their love and appreciation for Thompson by making his service their top choice. Emmy-winning sports television network ESPN enlisted him to score their top rated Monday Night Football broadcasts. Thompson also produced the theme for their acclaimed daytime program First Take which stars popular analysts Stephen A. Smith and Skip Bayless. Maybach Music Group recording artists Wale & Stalley perform the lyrics to Thompson’s score. In addition, he also produced the theme to Grammy-winning singer Keyshia Cole’s hit reality television series Keyshia & Daniel: Family First which airs on cable network BET (Black Entertainment Television); both the lyrics and vocals for Cole’s series by Platinum Boy Music recording artist “Angel of R&B” Tiffany Mynon.
Thompson’s extensive list of production credits reads much like closing credits of a major cinematic release. Popularly known as Amadeus, his globally recognized pseudonym (reminiscent of late Austrian composer Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart) is further representation of his creative and artistic musical merit. A number of notable recording artists – including Jennifer Lopez, Chris Brown, Justin Bieber, Talib Kweli, Tyga, and The Game – have found his work attractive. To achieve the sound they desire, top artists find it imperative to intersect with Thompson. “I appreciate the fact that [the artists] appreciate my gift and the music that I create,” Thompson says. “It starts with [all of] them. If they never liked what they heard you wouldn't have any songs produced by Amadeus.”
Raised in church, Thompson absorbed the seismic energy of handclapping and foot stomping. He quickly realized percussion was his calling, so he answered with drum lessons and natural ability. Engaging the instrument caused his earth to quak...Wed, 04 Nov 2015 - 32min

This week on The G Code I got to interview Zandra Cunningham of Zandra Beauty
Meet Zandra
"My name is Zandra Azariah Cunningham. I am a 15 year old entrepreneur from Buffalo, NY. When I’m not creating products to make you look, feel, and smell good, I am busy with my studies at Nardin Academy. Some of my favorite extracurricular activites include reading, dancing, and golf.
My fascination with entrepreneurship began when I was 9 years old; I joined the Kids Biz Small Business Development Center program at Buffalo State University during the spring of 2010. This program taught me the basic principles of business: business development, marketing, finances, and how to select a business that I am passionate about.
With the assistance of my family, my newfound appreciation for entrepreurship, and focus, I started my business, Azariah’s Innocence, a few days shy of my 10th birthday. My first products, lip balms and whipped shea body butters, were sold at local farmer markets in the summer of 2010. I started with lip balms and body butter because these were products that I frequently used myself. Instead of spending money on these products I thought it would be a good idea to start making my own. I wanted to make products that smelled good and kept my skin soft without irritating it (as so many products on the market caused me to break out).
To date, my business has become an inspiration to my peers as well as other entreprenuers. I have received admiration from local business owners and elite organizations, founded organizations, served as an ambassador, and am paying it forward by teaching about teenpreneurship in my community.
With much hard work and diligence, I recently finished a major rebrand that now reflects my new style – a funky, fresh faced teenpreneur with a passion for natural beauty products. I am happy to say I did it, I created a brand for us, the not so average teen girl who is ready to conquer the world, loves to smell good and feel beautiful without all the yucky stuff!
My new line is:
Fun, Fresh Natural Bath + Body for the Educated + Empowered Girl on the Move!
Z A N D R A is about confidence and beauty; I believe that young ladies should be confident in their own skin and learn what beauty is from the inside out. My hope is to inspire youth to take action and make things happen for themselves and their communities. I aspire to create natural products (all of my products are paraben and sulfate free) that promote relaxation and luminous skin. I use only the finest ingredients (natural butters and premium oils) so that your natural beauty can shine through"

This week on The G Code I got to interview Arian Simone who is a Celebrity Publicist, Entrepreneur and now author of Fabulous & Fearless Journey, her Homeless to Hollywood.
During The G Code she shared her testimony
"After college, I moved to Los Angeles in January 2004 with a job. After one month of employment, the company gets sold; I am laid off and I have no money. April 2004 — I moved from my apartment I could no longer afford to my car. I sold my clothes and belongings so I could eat and put gas in my car. Never would I have imagined that all this would happen to me! Here I am, full of education, undergraduate school, graduate school and no job. I applied for over 150 plus jobs and no one hired me. I tried temp agencies; I was on welfare and food stamps; car broke down; checked into a shelter, etc. I called my mother one day and told her I didn’t even see the purpose of living if this is what life was like. Through the trial my relationship with Christ grew very strong. I was without a place to live for 7 months. Around late July early August, someone who knew of me from my previous job that year referred me to their spouse for some PR & Marketing work. They sent other referrals and in 2 weeks I had about 5 to 7 projects going on. I immediately got the car out of the shop, and then moved into an office space with the help of ND Brown (My Spec). For the month of October, I just lived out of the office until end of November when I was able to afford an apartment. The office was a blessing; it was in a high rise in central LA; on the 19th floor was the most happening hip-hop station at the time in LA-100.3 The Beat. I would wake up every morning and network with whatever celebrities were at the radio station for the morning show. I made plenty of contacts. Then one day Coach Carter (the real Coach Carter the movie Coach Carter was based off) was on my floor and he introduced me to the fact that movie studios outsource people for what I do. He had me help out with some things for the movie prior to its release. From this exposure I then contacted people who were FAMU alumnus (Will Packer and Rob Hardy) that I knew were in the movie business and informed them about what I had been up to. From there my company was blessed to work on STOMP THE YARD and THIS CHRISTMAS. Sony Pictures became a client and we have done PR & Marketing Campaigns for TAKERS, QUANTUM OF SOLACE 007, HANCOCK, SEVEN POUNDS, FIRST SUNDAY, TAKING OF PELHAM 1 2 3, and the list goes on! We have serviced plenty of celebrities from Lil Wayne to Chris Brown and have put on some very star studded and grand events surrounding the Oscars and Grammy’s. My testimony brought birth to my non-profit, LIVE YOUR DREAMS. We aid the youth in identifying their gifts and talents and educate them on non-traditional careers and the value of living a fulfilled life. In addition, I dedicate time to train those in the skills in which I have been blessed to learn, because to whom much is given, much is required. I don’t share any of this as a point to brag, but as a testament to witness to you that God is GREAT, and with Him all Things are Possible."

This week I got to interview Vanzella "Joy" Williams aka Joy The Drummer and a member of Beyonce all girl band!
Venzella Joy has been playing drums since the age of 10. She started perfecting her craft by learning to play by ear in church, and later learned the fundamentals of music theory in her elementary school band. Joy joined the high school orchestra, where she learned to play multiple percussion instruments and later, in college, she performed with the jazz ensemble. Joy also co-founded Heaven Bound: The All-Girl Band with which she's played various venues and collaborated with a number of gospel artists over the years.
In March of 2009, Joy was featured on MTV’s reality show competition, Making His Band, with Sean “Diddy” Combs where she worked alongside Combs and other industry veterans. 2009 was bittersweet for Joy because she lost her mother, Vet Howard, that year. Vet was very supportive of Joy’s career choice, and loved hearing Joy practice for hours. The following year, Joy graduated from Canisius College with a B.A. in Criminal Justice and a minor in music. In October of 2013, Joy was the performance drummer for BET’s Black Girls Rock, performing with artists such as Patti LaBelle, Jennifer Hudson, Janelle Monae, Ledisi, and have been on tour with Beyonce as her drummer for the all girl band.

This week I got to interview Tim B a celebrity Stylist and owner of EpikStyle.com
Buffalo, New York born and bred stylist Tim B fell in to fashion at an early age. Forever using fashion as a method to put his thoughts and feelings on display, Tim began using himself as a canvas to display the artwork flying around the confines of his mind. Where words could not express, clothes did, gaining Tim a level of fashion forward notoriety while a student at East High School. Realizing his natural niche, Tim continued on to Buffalo State College, where he laid the foundation for industry education, studying fashion merchandising all the while sketching and styling, determined to make his name known everywhere…as the adage goes “anything worth having is worth working for.” So, Tim put in work…
Tim Founded Epik Style (his own boutique agency) in 2011,and within three short months he landed his first Client Multi-Platinum Grammy award winning Hip -hop icon Lil’ Kim., where he creatied iconic outlays to be displayed on the world’s stage. Tim hard work ethic and determination was honored by Capital Change of Western New York in 2012 as he was initiated in to the second class of Western New York’s Distinguished Power 30 Under 30. Constantly expanding his brand Tim appeared on season three of LALA's Full Court Life and BET'S 106 and PARK, and was also named one of the Eleven most Stylish New Yorkers by Bleu Magazine. ,
From interning for haute heavyweights like Michelle Ten and Crystal Streets, to assisting style superstars like Julie Matos and Jason Rembert, Tim B. can now add his name to the list of Who’s Who in the forum of fashion. With a style savvy that shines bright all its own, Tim B.’s star shows no signs of dimming. Blessed with an artistic imagination and keen attention to even the slightest detail as his sword and shield, Tim continues to fight the good fight for fashion, unwavering and unapologetic, as he saves the world one look at a time…

This week I got to interview Michelle Barron who is the founder of Women In The Spotlight Goinglobal. Michele shared this about the organization.
"In 2010, we knew we wanted to create a truly different type of organization for women. A group that would include us at its center. A group that would make a difference. And here we are! With over 1500 members and counting in Buffalo New York, Atlanta Georgia and Charlotte North Carolina and across the US, we are now a force to be reckoned with.
Our mission is simple. We bring together women so that we can all benefit. Empowering women is our central goal, and the core reason why we formed. As you can see, this is no small task. It makes me profoundly grateful for the many of you have come forward to help build our dream.
Misfortune is often the mother of opportunity. In our case, we created WITSGG after realizing that we could no longer wait for success. We had to collaborate and fight for it. Many of our women rose to this challenge, and we became bonded, as sisters, as we realized that we needed each other."
In the podcast you will get to know who Michelle Barron is and how her misfortune was truly the mother of opportunity"

Fighting for your dreams and goals is an every day battle so you must come out the corner swinging and protecting. Similar to a fighter who has 12 rounds to fight for the title you have 12 months to fight to make your dreams a reality yearly. So put your gloves on a fight like a Go Getta and Go Get Yours!

I have learned that behind every great photo on instrgaram and stat that the truth lies in the work to reach that. In a world where social media is the new validation for life many times one can only see the glitz's and glamor of reaching a goal, a dream or a place one wants to be; thats The Pretty. In seeing the pretty not many are given the opportunity to see The Ugly; the failures, the blood sweat and tears to get to that place and the work put in we call The Grind. You see there truly is Ugliness in Success.
In this episode I ask the question "What Kind Of Bird are you?" We all have heard the saying birds of a feather flock together, so the importance in this is knowing what kind of bird you are. Remember Birds Of a Feather Flock Together.
